The current study aims to investigate the impact of country-level corporate governance and directors' liability on entrepreneurship performance. The study sample consists of 52 European and non-European countries for the period from 2014 to 2021. Factor analysis is used which results in selecting three dimensions out of 20 dimensions of entrepreneurship. The study runs PCSE estimation on balanced panel data. The empirical outcome of the work revealed that R&D transfer is positively impacted by voice and accountability and government effectiveness; negatively affected by quality of regulatory framework, rule of law, and directors' liability. It is also found that aggregate early-stage entrepreneurial activity is negatively associated with rule of law and government effectiveness. Further, aggregate early-stage entrepreneurial activity is positively impacted by regulatory quality, control of corruption, and directors' liability. Moreover, this work includes directors' liabilities to examine their impact on entrepreneurship.

The current study explores the effects on entrepreneurial attitudes of country-level corporate governance and directors' liability across 52 countries over the period from 2014 to 2017. Country-level corporate governance is proxied by the six dimensions that are proposed by the Worldwide Governance Indicators. Country-level corporate governance and directors' liability are regressed against eight proxies of entrepreneurial attitudes proposed by Global Entrepreneurial Monitor. The study used balanced panel data and panel correction standard error estimation. The findings revealed that the six dimensions of the Worldwide Governance Indicators have a significant effect, varying across the eight proxies of entrepreneurial attitudes. The findings vary based on each dimension of entrepreneurial attitudes. Further, the results declared that directors' liability has a significant positive and negative effect on entrepreneurial attitudes. The results of the present study have significant implications for entrepreneurs, policymakers, and researchers. They may benefit from the current study's findings in order to improve the conditions for entrepreneurial activities.

The aim of this study is to empirically investigate the factors that affect the profitability of 1,308 listed firms operating in Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in India for the time period from 2011 to 2018. The research uses (pooled, fixed and random effect) models. Profitability is the dependent variable measured by three indicators which are return on equity (ROE) and earning per share (EPS). Liquidity (CR), leverage (LEV), company efficiency (CEFF), firm size (FSIZE), and working capital (WC) are considered as independent variables. The results of the study show that leverage, company efficiency, and firm size have a strong relationship with profitability measured by ROE. The results also reveal that company efficiency and firm size have a positive association with firms' profitability measured by ROE and EPS. The current research has three practical implications. First, it seeks to fill an existing gap in the literature of listed firms' profitability in Indian firms. Second, it provides new empirical evidence using different statistical analysis tools as a methodological contribution and used new variables. Finally, the present study brings useful insights and empirical evidence on the factors affecting profitability of Indian listed companies which are very beneficial for both internal users and external.
