In the present work, we report the effects of incorporating magnetic Nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles in YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO), on the superconducting properties of the YBCO nanocomposite. The NiO was prepared by auto-combustion method and exhibited ferromagnetic nature at room temperature. The polycrystalline YBCO and its nanocomposites with NiO nanoparticles were synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. The addition of magnetic NiO nanoparticles in YBCO resulted in improved critical current density and flux pinning force in the measured range of temperature and magnetic fields. The observed high pinning at a lower field is attributed to the magnetic interaction of vortices with the NiO nanoparticles. At 60 K, the enhancement in critical current density of YBCO nanocomposite is ~ 1.7 times for low applied field, and ~ 1.2 times for high applied field, compared to the YBCO superconductor. The presence of NiO in the YBCO matrix also created more defects in YBCO, which enhanced the pinning properties and remained effective even at higher magnetic fields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Resistive Random Access Memory (ReRAM) devices are being regarded as very promising choices for the future of non-volatile memory technology. The subject comprises crucial components like as material engineering, device architectural optimization, switching mechanisms, and improvements in reliability. This study examines the resistive switching capabilities of a device made from a ZrO2-CNT nanocomposite. The device was constructed utilizing a trilayer structure consisting of FTO/ZrO2-CNT/Ag, with the ZrO2-CNT film being fabricated by the spray coating technique. Incorporating 1wt% CNT into the ZrO2 matrix reduces the bias voltage needed for resistive switching and approximately doubles the resistance ratio between HRS and LRS. The use of higher weight percentages of carbon nanotubes (CNT) negatively impacts the switching properties. The temperature dependence of resistance of ZrO2 and ZrO2-1wt% CNT devices reveals that in ZrO2, O2 vacancies align to create conducting filaments. On the other hand, in the ZrO2-CNT device, both vacancies of O2 atoms and CNTs contribute to the production of conducting filaments. Inclusion of higher weight percentages of carbon nanotubes (CNT) leads to the formation of permanent conduction paths, which are electrical shorts and results in the loss of the switching capability. In this article, we report the synthesis of Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2) nanostructure by hydrothermal method and fabrication of resistive switching device [FTO/ZrO2/Ag] using spray coated ZrO2 nanostructured film. The XRD spectrum of the film indicates the formation of a single-phase ZrO2 nanostructure. I–V measurement of the fabricated device shows gradual set and reset at 0.8 and − 0.7 V, respectively, which confirms the presence of analog switching in the device. The conduction mechanism has been explored with a I–V fitting model in high resistive state and low resistive state, respectively. In high resistive state, the device stays in the ohmic region at lower bias however at higher bias due to filling of available traps the electrical transport is dominated by space charge limited conduction (SCLC). On the other hand, in low resistive state, charge carriers are detrapped and the electrical conduction process is again governed by SCLC conduction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) using a poly(vinylidene fluoride)–cobalt ferrite (PVDF–CFO) nanocomposite film is prepared in which the output power of the PENG device can be tuned by the application of an external magnetic field. Ferromagnetic CFO nanoparticles were prepared by the hydrothermal method and are incorporated in the PVDF matrix using the drop casting technique. The presence of CFO in the PVDF matrix enhances the ferroelectric β phase fraction of PVDF from 59% to 75% and also provides magnetic tunability to the PENG device. With the application of a 2.1 kG field, there is 2.33 times increment in instantaneous output power of the PENG, which is attributed to a decrease in the resistance of the nanocomposite film due to the alignment of the magnetic moment of CFO nanoparticles leading to a reduction in the scattering of mobile charges. These outcomes open up a possibility in piezomagnetotronic materials through the realization of magneto-sensitive multifunctional PENGs, which can be scaled up for fabricating compact, high-performance, portable devices for smart sensor applications. A novel g-C3N4/Fe-ZnO/RGO nanocomposite has been synthesized using the facile solvothermal method to boost the catalytic efficiency of ZnO. The structure and morphology of nanocomposites were examined by a wide range of characterization methods. The obtained g-C3N4/Fe-ZnO/RGO nanocomposite (Z-scheme heterostructure) exhibits improved photocatalytic activity toward the photodegradation of MB, Cr (VI) under visible-light irradiation and 4-nitrophenol reduction. The enhancement in activity of nanocomposite is ascribed to a unique heterostructure system, which facilitates excellent transport and separation of the photogenerated charge carrier, resulting in prolonged lifetime leading to continuous generation of reactive species. Moreover, the synergistic effect on the interface of ZnO and g-C3N4 and the introduction of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) serve as a booster for charge separation at the Z-scheme, which ultimately speeds up the degradation of pollutants. Tin-sulphide (SnS 2) nanosheets coupled with carbon nanotube (CNT) have been synthesized with different proportions of CNT (5 wt %, 10 wt %, and 20 wt %) to investigate their properties for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting applications. Microscopic studies revealed that the nanosheets of SnS 2 are uniformly dispersed on CNT. SnS 2 and SnS 2 /CNT nanocomposite photoanodes were fabricated using the spray coating method for photoelectrochemical studies. Under similar light illumination, the current density of SnS 2 /CNT-10 nanocomposite photoanode is ∼8.5 times higher compared to SnS 2 photoanode at 1.0 V vs Ag/AgCl. The enhancement in PEC performance is attributed to the conducting nature of CNT and the larger band bending induced by CNT. The CNT conducting network facilitates the effective transfer of charge carriers. Also, the electron-accepting nature of CNT helps to improve the overall PEC performance by lowering the rate of recombination of charge carriers. Further, the presence of sulphur vacancies in SnS 2 /CNT nanocomposite prolongs the life of photogenerated charge carriers, improves its separation efficiency, and provides more surface-active sites for electrochemical reactions. A potential explanation for observed enhancement is provided and supported by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Mott-Schottky results. These results highlight the substantial potential of SnS 2 /CNT nanocomposites for photoelectrochemical water-splitting applications. • SnS 2 /CNT nanocomposite is synthesized using In-situ hydrothermal technique. • Higher surface area provides more electrochemical active sites for redox reactions. • CNT facilitates the efficient transfer of photogenerated charge carriers. • A ∼8.5 times higher current density is observed in SnS 2 /CNT than SnS 2 photoanode.
