Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) built on inorganic anodes have achieved great commercial success. By contrast, the practical application of organic anode materials encounters key bottlenecks including electronic insulation, high solubility, and poor initial coulombic efficiency (ICE). Among them, improving ICEs (normally 30–60%) faces enormous challenges in both theory and technology, and there has been no substantial breakthrough yet. Herein, a wet chemical pretreatment technology to increase the ICE of maleic acid (MA)‐based anodes from 43.2% to nearly 100% is proposed for the first time, and this strategy demonstrates universal applicability. Typically, the wet chemical pretreatment involves reacting with lithium‐biphenyl to form LixMA intermediates (x = 4–6) and further forming a compact artificial solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) film through the spontaneous reaction between active LixMA and battery organic electrolytes. This wet chemically‐constructed artificial SEI layer can almost completely suppress lithium loss in the initial cycle of the MA electrode and significantly boost the actual output energy density, rate capability, and cycling durability of MA anode‐based full batteries. Significantly, the study further demonstrated that a series of organic anode materials with high ICEs can be achieved through similar wet chemical pretreatment. The development of reusable liquid rocket turbopumps has gradually highlighted the disadvantages of rolling bearings, particularly the contradiction between long service life and high rotational speed. It is critical to explore a feasible bearing scheme offering a long wear life and high stability to replace the existing rolling bearings. In this study, liquid nitrogen is adopted to simulate the ultra-low temperature environment of liquid rocket turbopumps, and theoretical evaluations of the lubrication performance of thrust-type foil bearings in liquid nitrogen are conducted. A link-spring model for the bump foil structure and a thin-plate finite element model for the top foil structure are established. The static and dynamic characteristics of the bearings are analyzed using methods including the finite difference method, the Newton–Raphson iteration method, and the finite element method. Detailed analysis includes the effects of factors such as rotational speed, fluid film thickness, thrust disk tilt angle, and the friction coefficient of the bump foil interface on the static and dynamic characteristics of thrust-type foil bearings. The research results indicate that thrust-type foil bearings have a good load-carrying capacity and low frictional power consumption. The adaptive deformation of the foil structure increases the fluid film thickness, preventing dry friction due to direct contact between the rotor journal and the bearing surface. When faced with thrust disk tilt, the direct translational stiffness and damping coefficient of the bearing do not undergo significant changes, ensuring system stability. Based on the results of this study, the exceptional performance characteristics of thrust-type foil bearings make them a promising alternative to rolling bearings for the development of reusable liquid rocket turbopumps. Background Primary hyperoxaluria type 3 (PH3) is characterized by mutations in the 4-hydroxy-2-oxoglutarate aldolase (HOGA1) gene. PH3 patients are thought to present with a less severe phenotype than PH1 and PH2 patients. However, the clinical characteristics of PH3 patients have yet to be defined in sufficient detail. The aims of this study were to report HOGA1 mutations of PH3 in Chinese children, and to analyze the genotype and clinical characteristics of these PH3 patients. Methods Genetic analysis (targeted gene panel-based and/or whole-exome sequencing) of HOGA1 was performed in 52 patients with a high suspicion of PH3, and DNA was obtained from the patient and both the parents. The clinical, biochemical, and genetic data of these 12 patients identified with HOGA1 mutations were subsequently retrospectively reviewed. Results These 12 patients were identified with HOGA1 mutation. The median onset of clinical symptoms was 18.25 (range 5-38) months. In total, 14 different mutations were identified including 9 novel mutations in these 12 patients with PH3. All of these 12 patients initially presented with urolithiasis, and 3 patients among them comorbid urinary tract infection (UTI) as another initial symptom. Ten patients experienced hyperoxaluria (average oxalate 0.77 mmol/1.73 m.sup.2/24h). In contrast, urine calcium excretion was normal in 8 patients and 2 patients with hypercalciuria (urine calcium > 4 mg/kg/24 h). At the time of diagnosis, estimated GFR was 155.6 ml/min per 1.73 m.sup.2, and at last follow-up time (17.3 months later from diagnosis on average), estimated GFR was 157.5 ml/min per 1.73 m.sup.2. To date, none of the patients has impaired renal function based on and progressed to ESRD. Conclusions We found that PH3 was significantly diagnosed in our urolithiasis patients during childhood. Nine novel HOGA1 mutations were identified in association with PH3, which provide a first-line investigation in Chinese PH3 patients. The eGFR was normal in all children with PH3.
