14. Hot deformation behavior and finite element simulation of Mg–8.3Gd–4.4Y–1.5Zn–0.8Mn alloy

Abstract

To study the hot deformation behavior of Mg–8.3Gd–4.4Y–1.5Zn–0.8Mn (wt%) alloy, hot compression tests were conducted using a Gleeble–3500 thermal simulator at temperatures ranging from 653 to 773 K, true strain rates of 0.001–1 s−1, and a deformation degree of 60%. Results of hot compression experiments show that the flow stress of the alloy increases with the strain rate. The true stress–true strain curves are corrected by correcting the effect of temperature rise in the deformation process. Activation energy, Q, equal to 287380 J/mol and material constant, n, equal to 4.59 were calculated by fitting the true stress–true strain curves. Then, the constitutive equation was established and verified via finite element simulation. Results of the hot processing map show that the probability of material instability increases with the degree of deformation, which indicates that the material is not suitable for large deformation in a single pass. On the whole, the alloy is appropriate for multipass processing with small deformation and a suitable processing temperature and strain rate are 733 K and 0.01 s−1, respectively.

21. Gender contexts, dowry and women's health in India: a national multilevel longitudinal analysis.

Abstract

Gender-biased contexts may impact women's lives across a variety of domains. This study examined whether changes in district prevalence of a salient gendered practice - dowry - are associated with changes in poor health for women in India. Two waves of national multilevel panel data were used to assess the relationship between changes in district-level dowry prevalence and changes in self-rated health for 23,785 ever-married women aged 15-50 years. Increased dowry prevalence was found to be associated with increased poor self-rated health for women. This relationship remained when controlling for potentially confounding factors including household socioeconomic status, caste, infrastructure, mobility and state fixed-effects. Abstract

Owing to the rapid industrialization and urbanization in Shenyang City, the original environmental monitoring sites can not obtain a value representative of a standard index, which can reflect the current pollution condition in the city. On the basis of the distribution of industrial sites in Shenyang City and the surrounding region, three environmental monitoring sites should be changed and two new environmental monitoring sites must be constructed to cover the increasing number industrial plants and the expanding area. In this study, a California Puff model was coupled with the Weather Research and Forecasting model to better evaluate the changes in the environmental monitoring sites. The five environmental monitoring sites were determined by comparing the temporary monitoring data in the period of April 16–24, 2015, and the p, which means correlation coefficient, of the four meteorological fields, namely, wind speed, surface temperature, relative humility, and surface pressure, reached 0.53, 0.91, 0.63 and 0.72, respectively. In the evaluation of the optimized results, the values of NMBF2 were much better than those of NMBF1, with the average recorded NMBF2 values for SO 2 , PM 10 , and PM 2.5 at 0.35, 0.85 and 0.70, respectively.

Abstract

The booming progress of biomass fuels in the enhancement of energy sustainability has been witnessed over the past few decades. Drying or moisture content reduction is a critical pretreatment step for the efficient utilization of wet biomass fuels whose improvement requires this study to focus on the effect of the transportation behavior of biomass fuels inside drying facilities. Experiments were performed under a variety of operating conditions in order to determine the residence time distribution (RTD) and flow characteristics of s‐liked biomass fuels in the process of transportation. A series of experiments are carried out in a rotary drum with different baffle structures, a length of 1850 mm and a diameter of 770 mm. Meanwhile, s‐liked and CO2 expanded biomass particles were taken as standard and tracer materials. RTD and scattering and fallout angles are measured and studied under the conditions of different baffle heights (64‐184 mm), numbers (2‐8), installation slopes (70°‐110°), rectangular bend heights (24.8‐62.5 mm), and bend slopes (90°‐150°). The Taylor model can appropriately estimate the mean residence time (MRT) of particles in a rotating drum with variety of baffle structures, such as baffle height, number, and bend slope.
