This paper presents the zonal geochemistry and elasticity characteristics of gallium- and lithium-rich No. 6 coalbed in the Haerwusu mine and discusses interpretation methodologies of coal-hosted gallium and lithium resources using lab-measured samples and field-measured wireline logs. The results demonstrate that both coal-composition-based and elastic-parameter-based classifications yield similar results, categorizing the coalbed into subzones related to coal quality. Material compositions, elastic properties, critical metals, and host minerals exhibit zonal distribution characteristics within the ultrathick No. 6 coalbed. Three-class classifications significantly enhance correlations among host minerals, elastic parameters, and critical metals, albeit with differing trends among classes. In classes II and III (ultralow- and low-ash-yield coals), boehmite and kaolinite primarily host gallium and lithium, respectively. In class I (medium-ash-yield coal), gallium is associated with kaolinite, while lithium lacks specific mineral associations. Constrained by wireline logs, a rock physics modeling strategy is proposed to link mesoscale coal compositions to macroscale elastic responses. Moreover, explicit correlations between host minerals and critical metals are established, connecting macroscale elastic responses to microscale gallium and lithium enrichments and exploring interpretation methods of coal-hosted critical metals. Preferred lithium interpretation methods include compositional ternary plots and elastic parameter cross plots, while preferred gallium interpretation methods involve boehmite-gallium and elastic parameter-gallium fitting. These findings may contribute to understanding the enrichment mechanisms and interpretation technologies of coal-hosted critical metals in ultrathick low-rank coalbeds.

Abstract Objective To explore the characteristics of renal artery variation in patients with renal cell carcinoma and to evaluate the predicting value of accessory renal artery in the pathological grading of renal cell carcinoma. Methods The clinicopathological data of patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma diagnosed in the Department of Urology of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from September 2019 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent visual three-dimensional model reconstruction from computed tomography images. All kidneys were divided into two groups: the affected kidney and the healthy kidney, and the incidence of renal artery variation in the two groups was analyzed. Then, according to the existence of accessory renal artery in the affected kidney, the patients were divided into two groups, and the relationship between accessory renal artery and clinicopathological features of patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma was analyzed. Finally, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the predictors of Fuhrman grading of clear cell renal cell carcinoma, and the predictive ability of the model was evaluated by the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results The incidence of renal artery variation and accessory renal artery in the affected kidney was significantly higher than them in the healthy kidney. The patients with accessory renal artery in the affected kidney had larger tumor maximum diameter, higher Fuhrman grade and more exophytic growth. The presence of accessory renal artery on the affected kidney and the maximum diameter of tumor are independent predictors of high-grade renal cell carcinoma. The receiver operating characteristic curve suggests that the model has a good predictive ability. Conclusion The existence of accessory renal artery on the affected kidney may be related to the occurrence and development of clear cell renal cell carcinoma, and can better predict Fuhrman grade of clear cell renal cell carcinoma. The finding provides a reference for the future diagnostic evaluation of RCC, and provides a new direction for the study of the pathogenesis of RCC.

Abstract Background Little is known about the association between the preoperative low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) level and prognosis in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) after nephrectomy, and its prognostic value needs to be elucidated. Methods The clinical and follow-up data of 737 RCC patients who underwent nephrectomy were retrospectively analyzed. The optimal cut-off LDL-C level was determined using X-tile, and then patients were divided into low and high LDL-C groups. The association between LDL-C levels and survival of RCC patients was assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analysis. Results The optimal cut-off LDL-C level was 1.93 mmol/L, and patients were divided into the low (≤ 1.93 mmol/L) and high LDL-C (> 1.93 mmol/L) groups. The Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients in the low LDL-C group had significantly shorter overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) than those in the high LDL-C group (P = 0.001, P = 0.001, and P = 0.003, respectively). The COX univariate analysis showed that the preoperative LDL-C level was closely associated with OS, CSS, and RFS in RCC patients (P = 0.002, P = 0.003, and P = 0.005, respectively). The multivariate analysis showed that the preoperative LDL-C level was an independent factor for predicting survival (OS, CSS and RFS) in RCC patients after nephrectomy. The low preoperative LDL-C levels predicted worse OS (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.337; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.192–4.581; P = 0.013), CSS (HR: 3.347; 95% CI: 1.515–7.392; P = 0.003), and RFS (HR: 2.207; 95% CI: 1.178–4.132; P = 0.013). Conclusions The preoperative LDL-C level is an independent factor for the prognosis of RCC patients after nephrectomy, and low preoperative LDL-C levels predict worse survival (OS, CSS, and RFS).

Abstract. Background:. Post-operative pneumonia (POP) is a common complication of lung cancer surgery, and muscular tissue oxygenation is a root cause of post-operative complications. However, the association between muscular tissue desaturation and POP in patients receiving lung cancer surgery has not been specifically studied. This study aimed to investigate the potential use of intra-operative muscular tissue desaturation as a predictor of POP in patients undergoing lung cancer surgery. Methods:. This cohort study enrolled patients (≥55 years) who had undergone lobectomy with one-lung ventilation. Muscular tissue oxygen saturation (SmtO2) was monitored in the forearm (over the brachioradialis muscle) and upper thigh (over the quadriceps) using a tissue oximeter. The minimum SmtO2 was the lowest intra-operative measurement at any time point. Muscular tissue desaturation was defined as a minimum baseline SmtO2 of 15 s. The area under or above the threshold was the product of the magnitude and time of desaturation. The primary outcome was the association between intra-operative muscular tissue desaturation and POP within seven post-operative days using multivariable logistic regression. The secondary outcome was the correlation between SmtO2 in the forearm and that in the thigh. Results:. We enrolled 174 patients. The overall incidence of muscular desaturation (defined as SmtO2 < 80% in the forearm at baseline) was approximately 47.1% (82/174). The patients with muscular desaturation had a higher incidence of pneumonia than those without desaturation (28.0% [23/82] vs. 12.0% [11/92]; P = 0.008). The multivariable analysis revealed that muscular desaturation was associated with an increased risk of pneumonia (odds ratio: 2.995, 95% confidence interval: 1.080–8.310, P = 0.035) after adjusting for age, American Society of Anesthesiologists status, Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia score, smoking, use of peripheral nerve block, propofol, and study center. Conclusion:. Muscular tissue desaturation, defined as a baseline SmtO2 < 80% in the forearm, may be associated with an increased risk of POP. Trial registration:. No. ChiCTR-ROC-17012627.

A quantitative prediction of DNA-mediated interactions between colloids is crucial to the design of colloidal structures for optical applications. Cui et al. measure the interaction potential with nanometer resolution and propose a theory to accurately predict adhesion and melting at a molecular level.

How to detect grain moisture content storage inefficiently, non-destructively, and quickly is a critical task in the storage process of the modern grain industry. The influence of media with different moisture content on the propagation and attenuation of electromagnetic wave energy is the premise and basis for applying electromagnetic wave technology in detecting grain moisture content. To explore the applicability of electromagnetic wave technology in detecting grain moisture content, we used ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology and auto regressive and moving average (ARMA) power spectrum analysis method to detect and study the moisture content of the typical national grain depots and local grain depots. The results show that GPR technology could realize the moisture content of stored grains and solve the problems of detection distance, non-destructive, and detection dead ends. Compared with the actual test data, the correlation is above 90%, the error can be controlled within 0.5%, and the measurement accuracy is higher, within ±0.3%. The continuous distribution profile of stored grain moisture content was obtained using the ARMA method. The moisture content distribution range of the rice barn was 10-14%, showing the regularity of the moisture content distribution in the middle layer > upper-middle layer > lower-middle layer > bottom layer > grain surface layer. It indicates that the GPR technology has particular advantages in food safety detection and provides data support for real-time detection of food storage safety.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a major health problem worldwide, and the current antiviral therapy, including nucleoside analogs, cannot achieve life-long cure, and clarification of antiviral host immunity is necessary for eradication. Here, we found that a clathrin-binding membrane protein epsin3 (EPN3) negatively regulates the expression of HBV RNA. EPN3 expression was induced by transfection of an HBV replicon plasmid, and reduced HBV-RNA level in hepatic cell lines and murine livers hydrodynamically injected with the HBV replicon plasmid. Viral RNA reduction by EPN3 was dependent on transcription, and independent from epsilon structure of viral RNA. Viral RNA reduction by overexpression of p53 or IFN-α treatment, was attenuated by knockdown of EPN3, suggesting its role downstream of IFN-α and p53. Taken together, this study demonstrates the anti-HBV role of EPN3. The mechanism how it decreases HBV transcription is discussed.

Abstract Background The prevalence of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in adult female in Taiyuan and what are the related risk factors are not clear. The aim of this study was to provide a basis for exploring the prevention and treatment of SUI in adult female in Taiyuan. Methods A voluntary online questionnaire was used to investigate adult female in the community and surrounding townships of Taiyuan. Most of the questionnaires refer to the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, and adapt to the specific circumstances of the region. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 22.0). Results A total of 4004 eligible questionnaires were obtained. The prevalence of SUI in adult female in Taiyuan was 33.5%. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that place of residence, smoking, body mass index, diet, number of deliveries, mode of delivery, dystocia, menopause, oral contraceptives, urinary tract infection, making the bladder empty faster by pushing down and holding urine were risk factors for adult female stress urinary incontinence in Taiyuan. Conclusion The prevalence of SUI in adult female in Taiyuan was high, and based on risk factors identified in this survey, population-level intervention strategies should be developed for the prevention and treatment of adult female SUI in Taiyuan.

The prediction and development of three gases, mainly coalbed methane, shale gas, and tight sandstone gas, in the Huainan coal measures of China, has been the focus of local coal mines. However, due to the overlapping and coexisting characteristics of the three gas reservoirs in Huainan coal measure strata, it is challenging to develop the three gas. The coal mine has been creating a single pool for a long time, resulting in the severe waste of other gas resources in developing the gas-bearing resources in the coal measure strata. The gas-containing reservoir is predicted based on geological, seismic, and logging in Huainan Mining. In addition, determining the excellent area for reference for the development of three gas resources. First, using logging data, mathematical–statistical methods are used to analyze the physical parameters of gas-bearing reservoirs in multi-layered stacked coal seams. Then, based on the theory of prestack seismic inversion, parameters, such as the impedance of P-wave, the ratio of P-wave velocity and S-wave, Lamé constant, Young’s modulus, and Poisson’s ratio and lithological distribution, are obtained for the whole area. The gas-bearing information of the reservoir is received by the statistics and equation of the parameter intersection diagram and is closely related to exploration and development. Finally, the paper synthetically predicts the most favorable area of the gas-bearing reservoir in the study area. The prediction results are compared with the actual results of coalbed methane content in the existing extraction wells, proving that the method is feasible and can provide the basis for the deployment and development of the well location.

The determination of quantitative relationship between soil dielectric constant and water content is an important basis for measuring soil water content based on ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology. The calculation of soil volumetric water content using GPR technology is usually based on the classic Topp formula. However, there are large errors between measured values and calculated values when using the formula, and it cannot be flexibly applied to different media. To solve these problems, first, a combination of GPR and shallow drilling is used to calibrate the wave velocity to obtain an accurate dielectric constant. Then, combined with experimental moisture content, the intelligent group algorithm is applied to accurately build mathematical models of the relative dielectric constant and volumetric water content, and the Topp formula is revised for sand and clay media. Compared with the classic Topp formula, the average error rate of sand is decreased by nearly 15.8%, the average error rate of clay is decreased by 31.75%. The calculation accuracy of the formula has been greatly improved. It proves that the revised model is accurate, and at the same time, it proves the rationality of the method of using GPR wave velocity calibration method to accurately calculate the volumetric water content.

Among the various geological disasters that threaten the safe operation of long-distance oil and gas pipelines, water-damage disasters are numerous and widely developed. Especially the pipelines crossing river channels or gullies are vulnerable to scouring hazards from storms and floods. A water-damage disaster physical model was established to investigate the characteristics of the riverbed scour profile and the pipeline force when the pipeline was buried at different depths under the condition of different particle size riverbed sediment. Results indicated that the equilibrium scour depth changed in a spoon shape with the gradual increase of the embedment ratio in general. The equilibrium scour depth formed by the fine sand riverbed was the largest, about 1.5 times the pipeline diameter. When the pipeline was half exposed, the clay riverbed was more resistant to the scour of the river than the riverbed of fine sand and very fine pebbles with a larger particle size. In the riverbed of three particle sizes, fine sand was more difficult to withstand the scour of the river. The scour profile formed by the sand bed around the pipeline and the force and deformation of the pipeline were related to pipeline location and riverbed sediment type. Results of this study might be useful for the safety warning and protection measures of underwater pipeline crossing.

To study the influence of coal mining on the porosity of shallow sandy loam under conditions of shallow seam mining in thick, loose layers in north-west China, a typical surface sandy loam stratum in Shaanxi Province was taken as the study area, and experiments were performed to test the variation of soil porosity at different depths of 0–10 m in strata before, during and after mining therein. The experimental results demonstrate that the overall average porosities in the disc-shaped edge area, the disc-shaped edge area to the disc-shaped basin bottom area and the disc-shaped subsidence centre area of shallow sandy loam in mining increased by (23.51, 18.07 and 22.61%) respectively compared with that before mining. Mining meant that the soil porosity in the period of stable subsidence after mining changed significantly in the disc-shaped edge area and the disc-shaped edge to the disc-shaped basin bottom area. The disc-shaped edge area shows a trend of slowly rising porosity with the increase of depth, and the disc-shaped edge area to the disc-shaped basin bottom area shows a trend of gradually increasing first and then gradually becoming stable. Although the porosity in the central area of disc-shaped subsidence increased before mining, its trend was similar to that before mining. Although the change in soil porosity in the period of post-mining settlement stability is greater than that before mining, it is best fitted by a quintic polynomial. In general, the rate of change of soil porosity in the study area shows similar trends with depth. It showed a U-shaped variation that first decreased, stabilised for a distance and then gradually increased. This study provides theoretical support for surface soil remediation and ecological environment restoration in coal mining areas.

Objective To determine the association between levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) and soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) in patients with preeclampsia. Methods Clinical and demographic data were collected from patients with preeclampsia and healthy pregnant controls. Serum 25(OH)D and sFlt-1 levels were evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and their correlations were determined using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient. Associations between serum 25(OH)D and sFlt-1 levels and disease severity and clinical parameters were evaluated. Results Significantly lower serum 25(OH)D and higher sFlt-1 levels were observed in patients with preeclampsia ( n = 100) versus controls ( n = 100), and 25(OH)D was inversely correlated with sFlt-1 in patients with preeclampsia. Serum 25(OH)D levels were reduced, while sFlt-1 concentration was increased in patients with severe versus mild preeclampsia. Serum 25(OH)D levels were reduced in late-onset versus early-onset severe preeclampsia. Patients with preeclampsia who had lower serum 25(OH)D or elevated sFlt-1 levels showed significantly higher blood pressure indexes versus those with higher 25(OH)D or lower sFlt-1. Conclusions Low serum 25(OH)D and high sFlt-1 may be candidate biomarkers for preeclampsia diagnosis and prognosis.

Background/Aims: Keloids are fibrous overgrowths induced by cutaneous injury. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have recently emerged as post-transcriptional gene repressors and participants in a diverse array of pathophysiological processes leading to skin disease. The purpose of the current study was to explore the precise functions of miR-181a in human keloid development and the underlying mechanisms. Methods: A miRNA microarray analysis was performed to compare expression profiles between keloid and normal skin tissues. Quantitative real-time PCR was conducted to estimate miR-181a expression. Cell proliferation was determined using the cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and 5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine (EdU) assays, and cell cycle and apoptosis were detected with flow cytometry. Direct targets of miR-181a were identified using the luciferase reporter assay. Results: miR-181a was significantly upregulated in human keloid tissues and fibroblasts, compared with their control counterparts. Overexpression of miR-181a enhanced keloid fibroblast DNA synthesis and proliferation and inhibited apoptosis, whereas miR-181a suppression triggered the opposite effects. Moreover, miR-181a suppressed the expression of PH domain leucine-rich repeat protein phosphatase 2 (PHLPP2) through direct interactions with its 3′UTR region and subsequently enhanced AKT activation. Overexpression of PHLPP2 without its 3′UTR attenuated the effects of miR-181a on cell proliferation and apoptosis in keloid fibroblast cells. Furthermore, miR-181a mimics increased normal skin fibroblast proliferation. Conclusions: Our results highlight a novel pathway mediated by miR-181a, which may be effectively used as a therapeutic target for treatment of keloids.

BACKGROUND:Patients after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) often develop moderate to severe pain. This study compared the analgesic effect of low-dose epidural morphine vs. a comparable saline injection in patients following TKA surgery. METHODS:This randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled trial was conducted in a tertiary hospital in Beijing between July 1, 2017 and May 30, 2018. One hundred and ten patients following TKA under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia were randomized to receive either epidural morphine (2 mg diluted to 5 ml normal saline, the epidural morphine group) or placebo (5 ml normal saline, the placebo group). For all patients, single-injection femoral nerve block was performed, and a supplementary patient-controlled intravenous analgesia pump was provided. The severity of pain was assessed with the numerical rating scale (NRS, an 11-point scale where 0 = no pain and 10 = the worst pain) at 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours after surgery. The primary endpoint was moderate to severe pain (NRS pain score ≥4) within 48 hours after surgery. RESULTS:The percentage with moderate to severe pain within 48 hours was lower in the epidural morphine group than in the placebo group (58.2% [32/55] with epidural morphine vs. 76.4% [42/55] with placebo; OR 0.43, 95% CI 0.19-0.98; p = 0.042). Furthermore, the cumulative morphine consumption within 48 hours was lower (18.4±6.1 mg vs. 22.4±7.3 mg; p = 0.002) whereas the mental component summary score of 30-day quality of life was higher (63.8±2.9 vs. 61.9±4.2; p = 0.008) in the epidural morphine group than in the placebo group. CONCLUSIONS:For patients following TKA, the addition of epidural morphine to single-injection femoral nerve block improves the quality of analgesia within 48 hours, without increasing adverse events. Shallow-buried high-intensity mining (SHM) activities commonly in China’s western mining area will lead to the decrease of groundwater level and soil water content (SWC), which will aggravate the further deterioration of the local fragile ecological environment. In this study, the applicability and limitations of six typical soil dielectric models were comprehensively evaluated based on ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology and shallow drilling methods. Moreover, experiments were performed to test the variation of SWC in Ningtiaota minefield affected by the SHM. The results show that the fitting effect of the four empirical models and two semi-empirical models on the clay is better than that of the medium sand. Among the six models, the Ledieu model has the best performance for medium sand, and the Topp model for clay. After SHM, the shallow SWC decreases as a whole. The decreasing range is 4.37–15.84%, showing a gradual downward trend compared with the one before mining. The shorter the lagging working face distance, the greater the drop of SWC will be. The longer the lagging working face distance, the smaller the drop of SWC will be showing a gradual and stable trend.

Background. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is correlated with obesity, but specific therapeutic interventions are lacking. Adiponectin is an adipokine with anti-inflammatory activity and is considered a hepatic protector. We aimed to investigate effects of a low-fat diet on the hepatic expression of adiponectin and its receptors in rats with NAFLD.Materials and methods. Sixteen male SD rats were fed a high-fat diet for 8 weeks (HFD1 group) or 16 weeks (HFD2 group) to induce NAFLD, and these rats were compared with rats on a normal diet for 8 weeks (NC1 group) or 16 weeks (NC2 group). Another group of 8 rats was fed an HFD for 8 weeks and then switched to a low-fat diet (DIET group) until the 16th week. The expression of hepatic adiponectin and its receptors was detected by western blotting, immunohistochemistry and RT-qPCR.Results. The NAFLD activity score (NAS) in the HFD groups increased from 3.2 ± 0.45 (8th week) to 6.2 ± 0.84 (16th week) (P < 0.001), reflecting the progression in the NAFLD histology. In contrast to the HFD2 group, the low-fat diet ameliorated the steatosis, ballooning degeneration and inflammation. Dietary intervention augmented the expression of adiponectin and its receptors, which was down-regulated in the HFD2 group.Conclusions. The NAFLD rat model was successfully developed by feeding the animals a high-fat diet. Adiponectin may play a role in the pathogenesis of NAFLD, especially in the progression from steatosis to NASH. The low-fat diet alleviated the histological lesions associated with NAFLD by up-regulating the expression of adiponectin and its receptors.

The oral microbiome-organisms residing in the oral cavity and their collective genome-are critical components of health and disease. The fungal component of the oral microbiota has not been characterized. In this study, we used a novel multitag pyrosequencing approach to characterize fungi present in the oral cavity of 20 healthy individuals, using the pan-fungal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) primers. Our results revealed the "basal" oral mycobiome profile of the enrolled individuals, and showed that across all the samples studied, the oral cavity contained 74 culturable and 11 non-culturable fungal genera. Among these genera, 39 were present in only one person, 16 genera were present in two participants, and 5 genera were present in three people, while 15 genera (including non-culturable organisms) were present in >/=4 (20%) participants. Candida species were the most frequent (isolated from 75% of participants), followed by Cladosporium (65%), Aureobasidium, Saccharomycetales (50% for both), Aspergillus (35%), Fusarium (30%), and Cryptococcus (20%). Four of these predominant genera are known to be pathogenic in humans. The low-abundance genera may represent environmental fungi present in the oral cavity and could simply be spores inhaled from the air or material ingested with food. Among the culturable genera, 61 were represented by one species each, while 13 genera comprised between 2 and 6 different species; the total number of species identified were 101. The number of species in the oral cavity of each individual ranged between 9 and 23. Principal component (PCO) analysis of the obtained data set followed by sample clustering and UniFrac analysis revealed that White males and Asian males clustered differently from each other, whereas both Asian and White females clustered together. This is the first study that identified the "basal mycobiome" of healthy individuals, and provides the basis for a detailed characterization of the oral mycobiome in health and disease.

As demand of China’s social construction increasing and as the development of vocational education, polytechnic school plays an increasing important part, which, on the other hand, constitutes unprecedented challenges to the teaching in polytechnic schools. Most students, in the aspect of vocational education, are those from middle schools who have difficulties in their study. These students are entitled “Underachievers”. They are short in intellectual study and poor in curricular foundations. Teaching tasks cannot be satisfactorily accomplished in many of the polytechnic schools for the increasing number of underachievers. What have been harnessing the polytechnic school development is the poor study effect of these students. In this article, the internal reason of character and the external reason of social influence are analyzed as the cause that contributes to learning difficulties. And this article offers a pragmatic set of ideas for underachiever transformation.

Although substantive research has shown that a positive perceived school climate is an essential protective factor for cyberbullying among adolescents, little research revealed the mechanisms underlying this relationship. This study examined whether normative beliefs about aggression mediate the association between a positive perceived school climate and cyberbullying and whether this process is moderated by Internet morality. Anonymous questionnaires measuring these variables were administered to 649 junior high school students in China. After controlling for traditional bullying, mediation analysis indicated that normative beliefs about aggression played a full mediating role in the relationship between a positive perceived school climate and cyberbullying. Moderated mediation analysis further revealed that Internet morality moderated the predictive effect of normative beliefs about aggression on cyberbullying. The mediating effect of normative beliefs about aggression was stronger in individuals with lower levels of Internet morality. These findings provide insight into making existing interventions more suitable for cyberbullying.
