The identity of the earliest inhabitants of Xinjiang, in the heart of Inner Asia, and the languages that they spoke have long been debated and remain contentious.sup.1. Here we present genomic data from 5 individuals dating to around 3000-2800 bc from the Dzungarian Basin and 13 individuals dating to around 2100-1700 bc from the Tarim Basin, representing the earliest yet discovered human remains from North and South Xinjiang, respectively. We find that the Early Bronze Age Dzungarian individuals exhibit a predominantly Afanasievo ancestry with an additional local contribution, and the Early-Middle Bronze Age Tarim individuals contain only a local ancestry. The Tarim individuals from the site of Xiaohe further exhibit strong evidence of milk proteins in their dental calculus, indicating a reliance on dairy pastoralism at the site since its founding. Our results do not support previous hypotheses for the origin of the Tarim mummies, who were argued to be Proto-Tocharian-speaking pastoralists descended from the Afanasievo.sup.1,2 or to have originated among the Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex.sup.3 or Inner Asian Mountain Corridor cultures.sup.4. Instead, although Tocharian may have been plausibly introduced to the Dzungarian Basin by Afanasievo migrants during the Early Bronze Age, we find that the earliest Tarim Basin cultures appear to have arisen from a genetically isolated local population that adopted neighbouring pastoralist and agriculturalist practices, which allowed them to settle and thrive along the shifting riverine oases of the Taklamakan Desert. Objective To understand the clinical characteristics and microecological status of lower genital tract in females with genital herpes in gynecological clinic in order to standardize the treatment of genital herpes. Methods A total of 27 women diagnosed with genital herpes were enrolled from the gynecological clinic of Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University. The clinical data and vaginal microecology of participants were analyzed. Results All patients presented with various degree of external genital itching, pain, burning pain, sting pain, etc. Gynecological examination showed typical external genital herpes and/or irregular small ulcers. One case presented with cervical herpes-like changes. Abnormal vaginal microecology was observed in 88.89% of the patients (24/27), including 8 cases of decreased function of flora, 2 cases of bacterial vaginosis, 6 cases of vulvovaginal candidiasis, 7 cases of abnormal flora, and 1 case of mixed infections. The pH of vaginal secretions was higher, evidenced by 22 cases (22/ 27, 81.48%) with pH > 4.5. Conclusions The clinical manifestations of female genital herpes vary and are often accompanied by vaginal dysbiosis. In clinic, it is recommended to conduct vaginal microbiota examination and personalize targeted treatment for all women with suspected genital herpes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The inertia of manipulated objects contributes to natural human performance, but its effects on virtual reality (VR) interactions have rarely been investigated. Here, we designed a virtual goal-directed task, in which virtual objects with different masses were moved into a target hole. Based on synchronized kinematic and eye-tracking data, we examined the effects of inertia on participants' performance during the virtual task in a virtual environment. Our results indicated that hand movements presented greater spatial variability and more discontinuities when the inertial load was removed. It suggested a decline in the ability of motor control and feedback regulation, since the absence of an inertial load weakened the proprioception for sensing limb movements. Eye-movement evidence indicated that increased preferential allocations of visual attention contribute to compensating the weakened proprioceptive cues, supporting the kinematic results.
