34. Reactions of Butterfly Complex Anions of the Type [(μ-RTe)(μ-CO)Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]- with Electrophiles. A New Route to μ<INF>4</INF>-Se-Containing Double-Butterfly Clusters. Crystal Structures of (μ-p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>Te)(μ-PhCH<INF>2</INF>SC&dbd;S)Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF> and [(μ-RTe)Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-Se) (R = Ph, p-BrC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>)

36. Synthesis and Characterization of Double- and Triple-Butterfly Fe/S Cluster Complexes Obtained from the Novel Butterfly Cluster Anions {(μ-RS)(μ-CO)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)}- and (μ-RS)(μ-S-)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>3</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)<INF>2</INF>. Crystal Structures of (μ-MeS)(μ-PhNHC&dbd;S)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S), (μ-MeS)(μ-MeSC&dbd;S)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S), and (-)Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF> (<BO>1</BO>) with Fe<INF>3</INF>(CO)<INF>12</INF> gives a new type of anion, {(μ-RS)(μ-CO)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)}- (<BO>4</BO>). While anions <BO>4 </BO>(R = Me, Et) react with PhNCS/CF<INF>3</INF>CO<INF>2</INF>H to give the neutral double-cluster complexes (μ-RS)(μ-PhNHC&dbd;S)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S) (<BO>6</BO>, R = Me;<BO> 7</BO>, R = Et), the reaction of <BO>4</BO> (R = Me, Ph, p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>) with CS<INF>2</INF>/MeI or PhCH<INF>2</INF>Br affords the neutral double-cluster complexes (μ-RS)(μ-MeSC&dbd;S)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S) (<BO>8</BO>, R = Me; <BO>10</BO>, R = p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>; <BO>12</BO>, R = Ph), and (μ-RS)(μ-PhCH<INF>2</INF>SC&dbd;S) [Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S) (<BO>9</BO>, R = Me; <BO>11</BO>, R = p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>), respectively. More interestingly, reaction of anions <BO>4</BO> with μ-S<INF>2</INF>Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF> produces another new type of anion, (μ-RS)(μ-S-)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>3</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)<INF>2</INF> (<BO>5</BO>), which reacts further with MeI, EtBr, or PhCH<INF>2</INF>Br to give the neutral triple-cluster complexes (μ-RS)(μ-MeS)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>3</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)<INF>2</INF> (<BO>13</BO>, R = Me; <BO>14</BO>, R = p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>), (μ-p-MeC<INF>6</INF>H<INF>4</INF>S)(μ-EtS)[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>3</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)<INF>2</INF> (<BO>15</BO>), and (μ-PhCH<INF>2</INF>S)<INF>2</INF>[Fe<INF>2</INF>(CO)<INF>6</INF>]<INF>3</INF>(μ<INF>4</INF>-S)<INF>2</INF> (<BO>16</BO>), respectively. All these new double- and triple-butterfly clusters have been characterized by combustion analyses and spectroscopy as well as by X-ray diffraction for clusters <BO>6</BO>,<BO> 8</BO>, and <BO>16</BO>.

Crystal Structures of (η5-MeO<INF>2</INF>CC<INF>5</INF>H<INF>4</INF>)(CO)<INF>2</INF>MoFe<INF>2</INF>(μ<INF>3</INF>-O)(μ-t-BuS)(CO)<INF>6</INF> and (η5-EtO
