On any finite algebraic extension $K$ of the field $\Q_p$ of $p$-adic numbers, there exist rational maps $\phi\in K(z)$ such that dynamical system $(\mathbb{P}^{1}(K),\phi)$ has empty Fatou set, i.e. the iteration family $\{\phi^n: n\geq 0\}$ is nowhere equicontinuous.

This paper is a complement to our previous paper [21]. It surveys the works on the Furstenberg set $S=\{2^{m}3^{n}: n\ge 0, m\ge 0\}$ and its random version $T$. We also present some new results. For example, it is proved that $T$ almost surely contains a subset of positive lower density which is $\frac{4}{3}$-Rider. It is also proved that a class of random sets of integers are Sidon sets when Bourgain's condition is not satisfied; this generalizes a result of Kahane-Katznelson. Some open questions about $S$ and $T$ are listed at the end of the paper.

We consider the generalized Thue-Morse sequences $(t_n^{(c)})_{n\ge 0}$ ($c \in [0,1)$ being a parameter) defined by $t_n^{(c)} = e^{2\pi i c s_2(n)}$, where $s_2(n)$ is the sum of digits of the binary expansion of $n$. For the polynomials $\sigma_{N}^{(c)} (x) := \sum_{n=0}^{N-1} t_n^{(c)} e^{2\pi i n x}$, we have proved in [18] that the uniform norm $\|\sigma_N^{(c)}\|_\infty$ behaves like $N^{\gamma(c)}$ and the best exponent $\gamma(c)$ is computed. In this paper, we study the pointwise behavior and give a complete multifractal analysis of the limit $\lim_{n\to\infty}n^{-1}\log |\sigma_{2^n}^{(c)}(x)|$., Comment: 37 pages

Let $A(x): =(A_{i, j}(x))$ be a continuous function defined on some subshift of $\Omega:= \{0,1, \cdots, m-1\}^\mathbb{N}$, taking $d\times d$ non-negative matrices as values and let $\nu$ be an ergodic $\sigma$-invariant measure on the subshift where $\sigma$ is the shift map. Under the condition that $ A(x)A(\sigma x)\cdots A(\sigma^{\ell-1} x)$ is a positive matrix for some point $ x$ in the support of $\nu$ and some integer $\ell\ge 1$ and that every entry function $A_{i,j}(\cdot)$ is either identically zero or bounded from below by a positive number which is independent of $i$ and $j$, it is proved that for any $\nu$-generic point $\omega\in \Omega$, the limit defining the Lyapunov exponent $\lim_{n\to \infty} n^{-1} \log \|A(\omega) A(\sigma\omega)\cdots A(\sigma^{n-1}\omega)\|$ exists., Comment: 24 pages

We study some number-theoretic, ergodic and harmonic analysis properties of the Furstenberg set of integers $S=\{2^{m}3^{n}\}$ and compare them to those of its random analogue $T$. In this half-expository work, we show for example that $S$ is "Khinchin distributed", is far from being Hartman-distributed while $T$ is, and that $S$ is a $\Lambda(p)$ set for all $2

The random trigonometric series $\sum_{n=1}^\infty \rho_n \cos (nt +\omega_n)$ on the circle $\mathbb{T}$ are studied under the conditions $\sum |\rho_n|^2=\infty$ and $\rho_n\to 0$, where $\{\omega_n\}$ are iid and uniformly distributed on $\mathbb{T}$. They are almost surely not Fourier-Stieljes series but define pseudo-functions. This leads us to develop the theory of trigonometric multiplicative chaos, which are the limits of the exponentiations of partials sums. which produces a class of random measures. The behaviors of the partial sums of the above series are proved to be multifractal. Our theory holds on the torus $\mathbb{T}^d$ of dimension $d\ge 1$., Comment: 48 pages, 2 figures

For a continuous $\mathbb{N}^d$ or $\mathbb{Z}^d$ action on a compact space, we introduce the notion of Bohr chaoticity, which is an invariant of topological conjugacy and which is proved stronger than having positive entropy. We prove that all principal algebraic $\mathbb{Z}$ actions of positive entropy are Bohr-chaotic. The same is proved for principal algebraic $\mathbb{Z}^d$ ($d\ge 2$) actions of positive entropy under the condition of existence of summable homoclinic points.

We introduce the notion of Bohr chaoticity, which is a topological invariant for topological dynamical systems, and which is opposite to the property required by Sarnak's conjecture. We prove the Bohr chaoticity for all systems which have a horseshoe and for all toral affine dynamical systems of positive entropy, some of which don't have a horseshoe. But uniquely ergodic dynamical systems are not Bohr chaotic.

We propose to study the multifractal behavior of weighted ergodic averages. Our study in this paper is concentrated on the symbolic dynamics. We introduce a thermodynamical formalism which leads to a multifractal spectrum. It is proved that this thermodynamical formalism applies to different kinds of dynamically defined weights, including stationary ergodic random weights, uniquely ergodic weights etc. But the validity of the thermodynamical formalism for very irregular weights, like M\"{o}bius function, is an unsolved problem. In this paper, we study the Dvoretzky covering problem with non-uniformly distributed centers. When the probability law of the centers admits an absolutely continuous density which satisfies a regular condition on the set of essential infimum points, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for covering the circle. When the lengths of covering intervals are of the form $\ell_n = \frac{c}{n}$, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for covering the circle, without imposing any regularity on the density function., Comment: 19 pages

Given an integer $q\ge 2$ and a real number $c\in [0,1)$, consider the generalized Thue-Morse sequence $(t_n^{(q;c)})_{n\ge 0}$ defined by $t_n^{(q;c)} = e^{2\pi i c S_q(n)}$, where $S_q(n)$ is the sum of digits of the $q$-expansion of $n$. We prove that the $L^\infty$-norm of the trigonometric polynomials $\sigma_{N}^{(q;c)} (x) := \sum_{n=0}^{N-1} t_n^{(q;c)} e^{2\pi i n x}$, behaves like $N^{\gamma(q;c)}$, where $\gamma(q;c)$ is equal to the dynamical maximal value of $\log_q \left|\frac{\sin q\pi (x+c)}{\sin \pi (x+c)}\right|$ relative to the dynamics $x \mapsto qx \mod 1$ and that the maximum value is attained by a $q$-Sturmian measure. We show that any $q$-multiplicative sequence which is \emph{oscillating} of order $1$, i.e.\ does not correlate with linear phase functions $e^{2\pi i n\alpha}$ ($\alpha \in \mathbb{R})$, is Gowers uniform of all orders, and hence in particular does not correlate with polynomial phase functions $e^{2\pi i p(n)}$ ($p \in \mathbb{R}[x]$). Quantitatively, we show that any $q$-multiplicative sequence which is of Gelfond type of order 1 is automatically of Gelfond type of all orders. Consequently, any such $q$-multiplicative sequence is a good weight for ergodic theorems. For a totally uniquely ergodic dynamical system, we prove a topological Wiener-Wintner ergodic theorem with polynomial weights under the coincidence of the quasi discrete spectrums of the system in both senses of Abramov and of Hahn-Parry. The result applies to ergodic nilsystems. Fully oscillating sequences can then be constructed on nilmanifolds., Comment: 31 pages

We consider sequences of Davenport type or Gelfond type and prove that sequences of Davenport exponent larger than $\frac{1}{2}$ are good sequences of weights for the ergodic theorem, and that the ergodic sums weighted by a sequence of strong Gelfond property is well controlled almost everywhere. We prove that for any $q$-multiplicative sequence, the Gelfond property implies the strong Gelfond property and that sequences realized by dynamical systems can be fully oscillating and have the Gelfond property.

We prove that fully oscillating sequences are orthogonal to multiple ergodic realizations of affine maps of zero entropy on compact abelian groups. It is more than what Sarnak's conjecture requires for these dynamical systems.

Fuglede's conjecture in $\mathbb{Q}_p$ is proved. That is to say, a Borel set of positive and finite Haar measure in $\mathbb{Q}_p$ is a spectral set if and only if it tiles $\mathbb{Q}_p$ by translation., Comment: 24 pages

Any bounded tile of the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ of $p$-adic numbers is a compact open set up to a zero Haar measure set. In this note, we give a simple and direct proof of this fact., Comment: 5 pages

In this article, we prove that a compact open set in the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ of $p$-adic numbers is a spectral set if and only if it tiles $\mathbb{Q}_p$ by translation, and also if and only if it is $p$-homogeneous which is easy to check. We also characterize spectral sets in $\mathbb{Z}/p^n \mathbb{Z}$ ($p\ge 2$ prime, $n\ge 1$ integer) by tiling property and also by homogeneity. Moreover, we construct a class of singular spectral measures in $\mathbb{Q}_p$, some of which are self-similar measures., Comment: 32 pages, 8 figures. We define oscillating sequences which include the M\"obius function in the number theory. We also define minimally mean attractable flows and minimally mean-L-stable flows. It is proved that all oscillating sequences are linearly disjoint from minimally mean attractable and minimally mean-L-stable flows. In particular, that is the case for the M\"obius function. Several minimally mean attractable and minimally mean-L-stable flows are examined. These flows include the ones defined by all $p$-adic polynomials, all $p$-adic rational maps with good reduction, all automorphisms of $2$-torus with zero topological entropy, all diagonalized affine maps of $2$-torus with zero topological entropy, all Feigenbaum zero topological entropy flows, and all orientation-preserving circle homeomorphisms., Comment: 43 pages, 4 figures

We consider ergodic series of the form $\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_n f(T^n x)$ where $f$ is an integrable function with zero mean value with respect to a $T$-invariant measure $\mu$. Under certain conditions on the dynamical system $T$, the invariant measure $\mu$ and the function $f$, we prove that the series converges $\mu$-almost everywhere if and only if $\sum_{n=0}^\infty |a_n|^2<\infty$, and that in this case the sum of the convergent series is exponentially integrable and satisfies a Khintchine type inequality. We also prove that the system $\{f\circ T^n\}$ is a Riesz system if and only if the spectral measure of $f$ is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure and the Radon-Nikodym derivative is bounded from above as well as from below by a constant. We check the conditions for Gibbs measures $\mu$ relative to hyperbolic dynamics $T$ and for H\"{o}lder functions $f$. An application is given to the study of differentiability of the Weierstrass type functions $\sum_{n=0}^\infty a_n f(3^n x)$.

The aim of this survey is to present some aspects of multifractal analysis around the recently developed subject of multiple ergodic averages. Related topics include dimensions of measures, oriented walks, Riesz products etc.

A homographic map in the field of $p$-adic numbers $\mathbb{Q}_p}$ is studied as a dynamical system on $\mathbb{P}^{1}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$, the projective line over $\mathbb{Q}_p$. If such a system admits one or two fixed points in $\mathbb{Q}_p$, then it is conjugate to an affine dynamics whose dynamical structure has been investigated by Fan and Fares. In this paper, we shall mainly solve the remaining case that the system admits no fixed point. We shall prove that this system can be decomposed into a finite number of minimal subsystems which are topologically conjugate to each other. All the minimal subsystems are exhibited and the unique invariant measure for each minimal subsystem is determined., Comment: 34 pages,2 figures
