We have analyzed data of the DISTO experiment on the exclusive pp to K^+ Lambda p process at T_p = 2.85$ GeV to search for a K^-pp (= X) nuclear bound state to be formed in the pp to K^+ + X reaction. The deviation spectra of the K^+ missing-mass MM (K^+) and Lambda p invariant-mass M(Lambda-p) with selection of large-angle proton emission revealed a structure with M_X = 2265 +- 2 MeV/c2 and Gamma_X = 118 +- 8$ MeV., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figues, Proceedings of EXA08

International audience; Anatomical changes and tumor regression during thoracic radiotherapy may alter the treatment volumes. These modifications are not taken into account into set-up or motion margins used for treatment planning. Their dosimetric impact could be significant and a better understanding of the changes occurring during the 6 to 7 weeks of treatment could be useful in order to define quantitative thresholds before a new treatment planning is needed. Margins could also be reduced in order to better spare organs at risk and perform targeted dose escalation. This review assesses the potential of morphologic and metabolic imaging during treatment for adaptive radiotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer.

International audience; First-line palliative radiotherapy for painful bone metastases is an effective treatment whatever its fractionation (single or multiple fractions). It is also indicated after failure or insufficient effect of a first irradiation, or the appearance of new painful site. Other indications are spinal cord compression, either as an adjuvant to surgery or as sole treatment, and after surgery for long bone metastases. The development of high precision techniques (stereotactic conditions) widens the possibility of re-irradiation when tolerance doses to normal tissues have already been delivered. Local control and possibly overall survival could be improved in oligometastatic patients.

International audience; ObjectivesIn France, medical students regularly complain about the shortcomings of their theoretical training and the necessity of its adaptation to better fit the needs of students. The goal was to evaluate the theoretical teaching practices in postgraduate medical studies by: 1) collecting data from medical students in different medical faculties in France; 2) comparing this data with expected practices when it is possible; 3) and proposing several lines of improvement.MethodsA survey of theoretical practices in the 3rd cycle of medical studies was conducted by self-administered questionnaires which were free of charge, anonymous, and administered electronically from July 3 to October 31, 2013 to all medical students in France.ResultsNational, inter-regional, regional and field internship educational content was absent in respectively 50.5%, 42.8%, 26.0% and 30.2% of cases. Medical students follow complementary training due to insufficient DES and/or DESC 2 training in 43.7% of cases or as part of a professional project in 54.9% of cases. The knowledge sought by medical students concerns the following crosscutting topics: career development (58.9%), practice management (50.7%), medical English (50.4%) and their specialty organization (49.9%). Fifty-four point one percent would like to be evaluated on their theoretical training on an annual basis.ConclusionThe results of this first national survey give insights into the theoretical teaching conditions in postgraduate medical education in France and the aspirations of medical students.; ProposLe troisième cycle des études médicales (TCEM) constitue la base de la formation spécialisée des médecins en France. L’objectif a été d’évaluer les pratiques d’enseignement théorique au cours du troisième cycle des études médicales en : 1) recueillant des données auprès des internes en médecine dans les différentes facultés de France ; 2) comparant ces données aux pratiques opposables quand cela était possible ; 3) et en proposant des mesures d’amélioration.MéthodesUne enquête sur les pratiques d’enseignement théorique en TCEM a été réalisée par auto-questionnaire, libre et anonyme, administré par voie électronique du 3 juillet au 31 octobre 2013 à l’ensemble des étudiants en TCEM de France.RésultatsLes enseignements nationaux, inter-régionaux, régionaux et sur le terrain de stage n’existent pas dans respectivement 50,5 %, 42,8 %, 26,0 % et 30,2 % des cas. Les internes ont recours à des formations complémentaires en raison d’une formation de DES et/ou DESC 2 jugée insuffisante (43,7 %) ou dans le cadre d’un projet professionnel (54,9 %). Les thématiques transversales à développer étaient le développement de carrière (58,9 %), la gestion d’un cabinet ou d’un service (50,7 %), l’anglais médical (50,4 %) et l’organisation de leur spécialité (49,9 %). Ils souhaiteraient pour 54,1 % d’entre eux être évalués annuellement sur le plan théorique.ConclusionIl s’agit de la première évaluation nationale du TCEM en France sur le versant de l’enseignement théorique. Complétée par le versant pratique, elle pourrait permettre de proposer une réforme du TCEM capable d’accroître l’efficience de la formation, sans allongement de sa durée.

International audience; The goal of this study was to evaluate the interest of the members of the French society of young radiation oncologists (SFjRO) for brachytherapy as well as their theoretical and practical level in this radiation technique. An anonymous survey was conducted regarding practical and theoretical teaching of brachytherapy before the French national courses on brachytherapy. Among the 106 residents attending this teaching course, 99 (93%) answered the survey. Most of them were interested in brachytherapy but 82% considered they had not received sufficient teaching. Relevant indications of brachytherapy were known by 76% of the residents for gynaecological malignancies and 70% for prostate. Seventy-one percent of the residents have seen at least one gynecological brachytherapy but only 12% knew how to deal with this technique. Fifty-six percent have seen vaginal high dose rate brachytherapy and 21% had acquired the technique. For prostate brachytherapy, 65% had seen and done an implant and only 4% had acquired the technique. Fifty percent have performed at least one brachytherapy treatment during their residency. Residents expressed a strong wish for more courses about dosimetry (82%), technique (75%) and treatment planning (90%). Our study shows the interest of French residents for brachytherapy but suggests that practical teaching courses and an evaluation of the existing theoretical courses are warranted.
