In the majority of cases, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is accompanied by one or more comorbid disorders, with the oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) being one of the most frequently diagnosed comorbid disorders. There is a lack of systematic reviews addressing the evidence for an association between the independent environmental and psychosocial risk factors associated with ADHD, ODD, and Conduct Disorder (CD).

The bias correction method (BCM) is useful in reducing the statistically downscaled biases of global climate models’ (GCM) outputs and preserving statistical moments of the hydrological series. However, BCM is less efficient under changed future conditions due to the stationary assumption and performs poorly in removing bias at extremes, thereby producing unreliable bias-corrected data. Thus, the existing BCM with normal distribution is improved by incorporating skewed distributions into the model with linear covariate (BCM-QMskewed). In this study, BCM-QMskewed is developed to reduce biases in the extreme temperature data of peninsular Malaysia. The input is the MIROC5 model output gridded data and observations sourced by the Malaysian Department of Irrigation and Drainage (1976–2005). BCM-QMskewed with lognormal (LGNORM) and Gumbel (GUM) has shown considerable skill in correcting biases, capturing extreme and nonstationarity of current and future extreme temperatures data series corresponding to the representative concentration pathways (RCPs) for 2006–2100 based on model diagnostics and precision analysis. Higher projection of extreme temperatures is more pronounced under RCP8.5 than RCP4.5 with precise estimates ranging from 33 to 42 °C and 30 to 32 °C, respectively. Finally, the projection of extreme temperatures is used to calculate cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality rate which coincides with high extreme temperatures ranging between 0.002 and 0.014. HIGHLIGHTS BCM-QMskewed with LGNORM and GUM was considered to capture the extreme values.; The linear covariate model was considered to capture the nonstationary trend in extreme temperatures series.; Results indicate the model's ability to correct the biases of extreme temperatures data for both RCPs in the study area with decent accuracy.; Higher mortality rate of CVD is consistent with higher extreme temperatures.;

Nowadays, more and more countries are paying attention to graduates' language skill and sending their students abroad to learn languages. As an Islamic country, Malaysia has sent many students to learn Arabic language and Islamic knowledge. This paper aims at examining the level of practice of Arabic language among Malaysian students in Jordanian universities. The study seeks to answer the following questions: What is the level of practice of Arabic language (academic, social media) among Malaysian students of Jordanian universities? Do any significant differences exist in the level of Arabic language practiced by Malaysian students of Jordanian universities in relation to certain variables? Results indicate that the Malaysian students had a medium level of practice of Arabic language. Significant differences were observed among gender, marital status, and field of study variables, whereas no significant difference was identified among university, level of study, distance of residence to the university, previous school, housemate qualities, nor CGPA.

This paper reports on noise modeling of a piezoelectric charge accelerometer with a signal conditioning circuit. The charge output is converted into voltage and amplified using a JFET operational amplifier that has high input resistance and low noise. The noise sources in the whole system include electrical and mechanical thermal noises of the accelerometer, thermal noises of resistors, and voltage and current noises of the operational amplifier. Noise gain of each source is derived from small signal circuit analysis. It is found that the feedback resistor of the operational amplifier is a major source of noise in low frequencies, whereas electrical thermal noise of the accelerometer dominates the rest of spectrum. This method can be used to pair a highly sensitive sensor with a single JFET operational amplifier instead of a multi-stage signal conditioning circuit.

Industrial dye effluent causes significant risks to the environment. The present study was focused on photocatalytic degradation of the dye Direct Red 28 using a ternary composite of graphitic carbon nitride, TiO2, and polyorthoanisidine (g-C3N4/TiO2/POA), prepared by in-situ oxidative polymerization o- anisidine. The synthesized composite g-C3N4/TiO2/POA properties were characterized using different analytical techniques. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results revealed the prominent pattern of TiO2 and g-C3N4 in the composite peak at 2θ° while Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results provided the confirmation peaks for g-C3N4/TiO2/POA and POA at 1,110 cm−1 and 1,084 cm−1 for C-O-C ether. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) demonstrated an increase in the average size of the composite up to 428 nm. The energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) spectrum provided the weight percentages of the C, O, and Ti in the composite were 8.5%, 45.69%, and 45.81%, respectively. The photocatalytic degradation of Direct Red 28 dye under UV irradiation using a composite showed that 86% Direct Red 28 dye was degraded by a 30 mg/L dose of g-C3N4/TiO2/POA in 240 min at pH 2. After four consecutive cycles, the utilized composite showed 79% degradation of Direct Red 28, demonstrating the stability and effectiveness of the g-C3N4/TiO2/POA photocatalyst. The high reusability and efficiency of the g-C3N4/TiO2/POA composite are due to increased light absorption range and reduced e−/h+ recombination rate in the presence of g-C3N4 and POA. Depression is a common mental illness that affects 5% of the adult population globally. The most common symptoms of depression are low mood, lack of pleasure from different activities, poor concentration, and reduced energy levels for an extended period, and it affects the emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being of an individual. The complex pathophysiology of depression presents challenges for current therapeutic options involving a biopsychosocial treatment plan. These treatments may have a delayed onset, low remission and response rates, and undesirable side effects. Researchers in nutrition and food science are increasingly addressing depression, which is a significant public health concern due to the association of depression with the increased incidence of cardiovascular diseases and premature mortality. Polyphenols present in our diet may significantly impact the prevention and treatment of depression. The primary mechanisms include reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, regulating monoamine neurotransmitter levels, and modulating the microbiota–gut–brain axis and hyperactivity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis. This review summarizes recent advances in understanding the effects of dietary polyphenols on depression and explores the underlying mechanisms of these effects for the benefit of human health. It also highlights studies that are looking at clinical trials to help future researchers incorporate these substances into functional diets, nutritional supplements, or adjunctive therapy to prevent and treat depression. This study is an attempt to investigate climate-induced increases in morbidity rates of food poisoning cases. Monthly food poisoning cases, average monthly meteorological data, and population data from 2004 to 2014 were obtained from the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Malaysian Meteorological Department, and Department of Statistics Malaysia, respectively. Poisson generalised linear models were developed to assess the association between climatic parameters and the number of reported food poisoning cases. The findings revealed that the food poisoning incidence in Malaysia during the 11 years study period was 561 cases per 100 000 population for the whole country. Among the cases, females and the ethnic Malays most frequently experienced food poisoning with incidence rates of 313 cases per 100,000 and 438 cases per 100,000 population over the period of 11 years, respectively. Most of the cases occurred within the active age of 13 to 35 years old. Temperature gave a significant impact on the incidence of food poisoning cases in Selangor (95% CI: 1.033-1.479; p = 0.020), Melaka (95% CI: 1.046-2.080; p = 0.027), Kelantan (95% CI: 1.129-1.958; p = 0.005), and Sabah (95% CI: 1.127-2.690; p = 0.012) while rainfall was a protective factor in Terengganu (95% CI: 0.996-0.999; p = 0.034) at lag 0 month. For a 1.0°C increase in temperature, the excess risk of food poisoning in each state can increase up to 74.1%, whereas for every 50 mm increase in rainfall, the risk of getting food poisoning decreased by almost 10%. The study concludes that climate does affect the distribution of food poisoning cases in Selangor, Melaka, Kelantan, Sabah, and Terengganu. Food poisoning cases in other states are not directly associated with temperature but related to monthly trends and seasonality.

Ideal convergence of sequences in neutrosophic normed spaces is defined by Omer Ki¸si [12]. This ¨ paper defines new sequence spaces using the Zweier matrix and neutrosophic norm. We explore (λ, μ)-Zweier convergence, (λ, μ) ideal convergence of double sequences in neutrosophic norm. We show that a double sequence that is (λ, μ)-Zweier convergent or ideal convergent has a unique limit with respect to neutrosophic norm. Additionally, we prove that (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal convergence is equivalent to (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal Cauchy for a double sequence in neutrosophic normed space. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many slope failures take place during or after rainfall events. Landslides are one of the tragedies associated with slope failures and often lead to fatal accidents. A study on the effects of extreme rainfall on slope stability considering the historical rainfall data, slope characteristics and properties, and flow boundary conditions was undertaken. This study investigated the behaviour of the Sg Langat slope under the influence of extreme rainfall gathered from historical data. Sg Langat was selected as the research area because of its high riverbank failures. The focus of this study are as follows: 1) to determine the effect of slope angles on slope stability, 2) to assess the development of pore-water pressure based on the changing groundwater levels, and 3) to analyse the influence of extreme rainfall events on the slope behaviour via numerical modelling. This study enhances the understanding of certain slope conditions and contributes to the analysis of slope stability through numerical modelling, making it relatively convenient to observe the soil conditions for determining the slope stability of the research area in regards to the effect of extreme rainfall. The results were obtained with respect to the changes in the pore-water pressure and the factor of safety. It was observed that the pressure changes were different for every channel, demonstrating that the generation of negative pore-water pressure was not directly affected by the type of analysis and the rainfall infiltration alone. Moreover, the slopes on all channels presented were considered unstable because of the considerable changes in the negative pore-water pressure at a relatively shallow depth, causing soil strength reduction. The factor of safety recorded for Channel 1 was the lowest at 0.18, whereas Channel 3 had the highest factor of safety of 1.11 but was still considered unsafe as it fell below the standard safety margin of 1.3. Apart from the different rainfall intensities applied, the geometry of the slopes also affected the slope stability.
