Objective In this Italian population-based study, we aimed to evaluate neurological complications after first and/or second dose of COVID-19 vaccines and factors potentially associated with adverse effects. Methods Our study included adults aged-18 years and older, receiving two vaccine doses in vaccination Hub Novegro (Lombardy) between July 7–16 2021. NEURO-COVAX questionnaire was able to capture neurological events, onset and duration. Data digitized centrally by Lombardy-Region were used to match demographic/clinical characteristics and identify a vulnerable profile. Associations between vaccine-lines and development of complications were assessed. Results NEURO-COVAX-cohort included 19.108 vaccinated-people: 15.368 mRNA BNT162b2, 2077 mRNA-1273, 1651 ChAdOx1nCov-19 and 12 Ad26.COV2, subsequently excluded. About 31.3% of sample developed post-vaccination neurological complications, particularly ChAdOx1nCov-19. Vulnerable clinical profile emerged, over 40% of symptomatic people showed comorbidities in clinical history. Defining neurological risk profile, we found increased risk for ChAdOx1nCov-19 of tremor (OR:5.12, 95% CI:3.51–7.48), insomnia (OR:1.87, 95% CI:1.02–3.39); muscle spasms (OR:1.62, 95% CI:1.08–2.46) and headache (OR:1.49, 95% CI:0.96–1.57); for mRNA-1273 of parethesias (OR:2.37, 95% CI:1.48–3.79), vertigo (OR:1.68, 95% CI:1.20–2.35), diplopia (OR:1.55, 95% CI:0.67–3.57), daytime sleepiness (OR:1.28, 95% CI:0.98–1.67). Discussion This study estimates prevalence and risk of neurological complications associated to COVID-19 vaccines, improving vaccination guidelines and loading in future to personalized preventive medicine.

In this work, the friction and wear behavior in hip prosthesis made of Si3N4-TiN ceramic composite were evaluated by tribological tests in order to estimate the prosthesis life. The innovation consists in the use of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) for the realization of the hip prosthesis. This was allowed using TiN as a dopant of the ceramic matrix which confer electrical conductivity properties to the composite, necessary in order to use the EDM. The Coefficient of Friction (CoF) and Wear Rate (WR) were evaluated through experimental tribological tests using a tribometer with Pin on Disk (PoD) configuration. The experimental results were used for the calibration of the Archard wear model adopted to simulate the wear process between pin and disk. Finally, after calibrating the wear model, numerical analysis was performed to evaluate the wear of the material and the life cycle of the hip prosthesis.

The urgency of having rapidly safe and efficient COVID-19 vaccines called for the need to shorten trial phases, reduce sample sizes, and speed-up the approval process by the regulatory Agencies. In light of this, monitoring adverse effects (AEFI) (both immediate and at medium-long term) become of great importance. Aim of this cross-sectional study was to explore the associations between several factors and risk of immediate AEFI.Data come from the electronic dataset developed ad hoc to record demographic data, anamnesis and data related to immunization, set-up in the mass vaccination site in Novegro (Milan). Novegro mass vaccination site was one of the mass vaccinations sites with the highest flow in Lombardy Region, with a maximum capacity of 5,000 vaccinations/day. The center opened in April 2021 and closed the 1st of August 2021. A multivariable logistic regression model was used. Odds ratios adjusted (aOR) for age and sex are presented. Statistical significance was set at p0.05. Analyses were conducting using STATA.Among the total of 314,671 subjects vaccinated, 0.5% developed an immediate AEFI, on average 17.0 ± 0.43 minutes after the administration. The three most frequent AEFI recorded were vagal response (30%), anxiety reaction (24%) and dizziness (21%). AEFI were more frequently observed among women [aOR= 2.24 (95%CI= 2.00 - 2.50)], and those with at least one previous disease [aOR= 1.47 (95%CI= 1.22-1.76)].In conclusion, AEFI were less likely to occur for increasing age and after the second dose. Results from this large, complete and representative sample population regarding enrich the interesting scientific debate on potential adverse events following COVID-19 immunization.

Economical composite materials such as PA66GF35 (glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide matrix) are being increasingly used in the automotive industry. Their good mechanical characteristics combined with low density, very high workability, low production cost and high availability are attractive prerogatives that induce engineers to adopt it in complex technological challenges. Injection moulding is the most common production technology used to realize composite components. While in industrial design this type of material is considered as isotropic, it is well known that injection moulding process gives orientation to the reinforcing fibres, leading to anisotropic mechanical behaviour. Starting from these considerations, attention has been turned to the vibrating properties of such materials and to the comparison between vibration modes and mechanical properties. In fact, composite materials are also used to produce components in the automotive field significantly affected by noise problems. Since the noise derives from a fluid-structure interaction, the own frequencies and the vibrating modes cover an important role on the Noise, Vibration and Harshness performance of the components. A comparison of the vibration modes of a plate in PA66GF35, numerically modeled both as isotropic and anisotropic material according to Folgar and Tucker theory, was carried out and compared with experimental measurements. The anisotropy of the composite material is demonstrated by the variation of the mechanical characteristics obtained from the static tensile tests. Results show that injection moulding confers different mechanical properties to real components due to the intrinsic fluid-dynamic phenomena of the production process.

On November 25, 2014, an Italian physician infected by Ebola virus in Sierra Leone was admitted to the "Lazzaro Spallanzani" National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome, Italy. He was the first Italian case and was successfully cured in 38 days. The staff responsible for communication had a critical role ensuring that this challenging mission went smoothly. The Institutional Press Office working together with the press offices of the Ministry of Health was able to provide the high level of expertise necessary within both medical and communication contexts. Communication strategy, tools and procedures adopted before and after the arrival of the patient are summarized.

O objetivo geral deste trabalho é propor e estimular reflexões críticas sobre a produção discursiva do turismo na contemporaneidade, ou seja, sobre a forma como o turismo vem sendo construído, por diversos tipos de discursos elaborados por diferentes agentes sociais. A principal hipótese de trabalho é que a produção discursiva do turismo não é simples comunicação, mas um processo de persuasão, pois tem sido usada intencionalmente por poderosos agentes sociais que desejam legitimar interesses próprios em nome daquilo que chamam de turismo. Assim sendo, tal produção não é uma atividade neutra, é, antes instrumento de um jogo de poder: o turismo é um dos mais acabados aparelhos de subjetivação capitalista já desenvolvidos. O objeto de análise da tese é a \'produção discursiva legitimadora do turismo\'. A metodologia deste estudo é a Análise Crítica de Discursos. A tese está dividida em seis capítulos. Ao final, sob a forma de considerações finais, propomos novos estudos críticos ao turismo. The aim of this work is to propose and encourage critical reflection on the discursive production of tourism in contemporaneity, in other words, on how tourism is being constructed by different kinds of speeches prepared by different actors. The main working hypothesis is that the discursive production of tourism is not simple communication, but a process of persuasion as it has been used intentionally by powerful social actors who wish to legitimize their own interests in the name of what they call tourism. Therefore, such production is not a neutral activity, but an instrument of a power play: tourism is one of the most finished devices already developed for capitalist subjectivity. The object of analysis of this thesis is the \'legitimating discursive production of tourism\'. The methodology of this study is the Critical Analysis of Discourses. The thesis is divided into six chapters. At the end, in the form of final remarks, propose new critical studies to tourism.

As transformações intensas e aceleradas que se observam na contemporaneidade têm afetado, frontalmente, as mais diversas dimensões da vida humana, com as quais as novas tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC) mantêm estreitas ligações inclusive com a educação. Inserido neste cenário, o homem carece, cada vez mais, de balizas para orientar-se no mundo. Sob influência do pragmatismo econômico, os meios adquirem, muitas vezes, mais destaque do que os fins educacionais. Neste contexto, emergem vários princípios orientadores para a educação, nem sempre capazes de conferir sentido ao trabalho docente e ao processo de formação discente. Esta pesquisa possui como objetivo principal refletir sobre os sentidos que os professores conferem à tecnologia e sobre uma possível incorporação crítica dos recursos tecnológicos às suas práticas docentes. Para tanto, investigaram-se as concepções que os sujeitos da pesquisa possuíam a respeito da educação, de tecnologia e das relações destas na contemporaneidade, no que se refere, particularmente, aos fins educacionais e à prática docente. Para a análise dos dados, utilizou-se como principal referencial teórico a obra de Hannah Arendt, com especial atenção para o conceito de sentido e para as distinções que esta autora estabelece entre conhecimento, verdade e sentido. Utilizou-se metodologia de natureza qualitativa, e a tomada de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Os sujeitos da pesquisa são professores da disciplina de Física, que utilizam ferramentas tecnológicas em suas atividades docentes, dentro e fora de sala de aula, e lecionam em um colégio particular, de porte médio, localizado em Osasco-SP. Esta escola, que atende estudantes da educação infantil ao ensino médio além de oferecer curso pré-vestibular , encara a tecnologia como um dos principais componentes estruturantes de seu projeto-político pedagógico, disponibilizando ampla gama de recursos tecnológicos a alunos e professores (lousa eletrônica; sistema de teleconferência; auditório aparelhado com projetor estereoscópico cinema 3D; plantão on-line para esclarecimento de dúvidas dos alunos; laboratórios de informática e de robótica). Após análise das entrevistas, constatou-se que as justificativas apresentadas para o emprego das TIC não se caracterizam, mormente, como frutos do pensamento crítico, mas de pressões do pragmatismo econômico valorização do fazer processual; tentativa de amoldar os ritmos do processo de ensinoaprendizagem à dinâmica mercadológica; propósitos da educação voltados, quase exclusivamente, à capacitação dos alunos para o mercado de trabalho. Além de indícios de ausência de controle reflexivo do tempo e de certo desprezo por questões de ordem filosófica, verificou-se, nas falas registradas, que a escassez de evidências de pensamento especulativo sugere que, com os sujeitos desta pesquisa, não se desenvolveu o processo de atribuição de sentido, à luz dos conceitos definidos por Arendt, no que se refere especificamente à incorporação de recursos tecnológicos em suas práticas docentes. The intense and rapid transformations that have marked contemporaneity directly affect a wide range of dimensions of human life to which the new information and communication technologies (ICT) are closely connected including education. Inserted in this scenario, humans find themselves increasingly at a loss for signposts to guide their way in the world. Under the influence of economic pragmatism, educational means often assume greater prominence than educational ends. In this context, several guiding principles emerge for education, not all of them able to imbue the work of teaching and the process of student education with meaning. The main objective of this research is to reflect on the meanings teachers ascribe to technology and on a possible critical incorporation of technological resources into their teaching practices. To this end, an investigation was made of the conceptions the subjects of this research possessed about education, technology and their relations in the contemporary world, particularly insofar as they concern educational ends and the practice of teaching. The work of Hannah Arendt was used as the main theoretical reference to analyze the information, with special attention focusing on the concept of meaning and on the distinctions the author establishes between knowledge, truth and meaning. A qualitative methodology was used, and the information was collected by means of semi-structured interviews. The subjects of this research are Physics teachers who use technological tools in their teaching activities inside and outside the classroom, and teach at a medium-sized private school located in Osasco, SP, Brazil. This school, which caters to children of preschool to middle school age and also gives university entry exam preparation courses , sees technology as one of the main structuring components of its pedagogical policy project, offering a wide range of technological resources to students and teachers (electronic blackboards, a teleconference system, an auditorium equipped with a stereoscopic 3D film projector, online service for clarifying students doubts, and informatics and robotics laboratories). An analysis of the interviews indicated that the justifications for the use of ICT are not generally characterized as being the fruit of critical thought, but a response to the pressures of economic pragmatism the valuing of processual action; an attempt to mold the pace of the teaching-learning process to market dynamics; educational purposes aimed, almost exclusively, to preparing students for the labor market. In addition to the absence of a reflexive control of time and a certain disdain for questions of a philosophical nature, the answers recorded in these interviews indicated that the paucity of evidence of speculative thinking suggests that, with the subjects of this research, there has been no development of the process of attributing meaning, in light of the concepts defined by Arendt, specifically insofar as the incorporation of technological resources into their teaching practices is concerned.
