Background Autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) is a group of inflammatory diseases characterized by the presence of antibodies against neuronal and glial antigens, leading to subacute psychiatric symptoms, memory complaints, and movement disorders. The patients are predominantly young, and delays in treatment are associated with worse prognosis.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to examine the effect of the increasing levels of inclusion of palm kernel cake (PKC) in the diet on the performance of feedlot heifers. Forty-eight Nelore heifers with an initial weight of 274 ± 4.58 kg, at 24 months of age, were confined for 98 days in a feedlot. The animals were allocated to the four treatments in a completely randomized design. Treatments consisted of PKC levels of 0 (control), 10, 20, and 30% in the total dry matter of the diet. The roughage:concentrate ratio in the diets was 30:70. Ether extract intake increased, whereas the intakes of non-fiber carbohydrates and total digestible nutrients decreased with the inclusion of PKC. The apparent digestibility of all nutrients decreased, as well as the amounts of nitrogen digested and retained. Microbial protein synthesis and its efficiency also declined. The inclusion of up to 20% PKC increased feeding time and reduced rumination time of heifers. Intake and rumination efficiencies decreased with the inclusion of PKC in the diet. Final weight and average daily gain did not change, but feed efficiency increased with the inclusion of PKC. The inclusion of up to 30% PKC in the diet of feedlot heifers is recommended.

The study aimed to evaluate the effects of three supplementation strategies on intake, apparent digestibility, feeding behavior, performance, carcass traits, proximate composition, and the fatty acid profile of meat from steers on tropical pasture during the post-weaning and finishing stages. The experiment involved 33 1/2 Holstein × 1/2 castrated Zebu steers weighing 335 ± 42.90 kg, aged 22 ± 2 m. The animals were managed on Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu using an intermittent grazing system with continuous stocking and variable stocking rates for 310 days. The supplementation strategies were as follows: MS/US (mineral salt/urea supplementation): mineral salt in the rainy season and mineral salt with urea in the dry season; US/PS1 (urea supplementation/protein supplementation): mineral salt with urea in the rainy season and protein supplement at 1 g/kg body weight (BW) in the dry season; and PS1/PS2 (protein supplementation 1/protein supplementation 2): protein supplement at 1 g/kg BW in the rainy season and 2 g/kg BW in the dry season. The dry matter intake did not differ significantly (p > 0.05) between strategies. However, the post-weaning PS1/PS2 strategy resulted in higher (p < 0.05) crude protein intake. The final body weight did not differ (p > 0.05) between the strategies, but the average daily gain in post-weaning and finishing was higher (p < 0.05) for MS/US (restricted) animals. Carcass weight, subcutaneous fat thickness, and lipid content in meat were significantly higher (p < 0.05) for steers in the PS1/PS2 group. Steers finished on MS/US produced meat with a higher content of polyunsaturated fatty acids and ω-3 fatty acids (p < 0.05). Concentrate supplementation at 1 g/kg BW during the rainy season and 2 g/kg BW during the dry season is recommended for post-weaning and finishing steers on tropical pasture.

Feedlot finishing of goats is a growing practice, but the economic viability of this technology is compromised by the inclusion of ingredients such as corn and soybean. An alternative to minimize this barrier is the use of agroindustry coproducts as substitutes for those ingredients, such as crude glycerol. This study aimed to evaluated the metabolism of crossbred Boer finishing goats fed diets containing crude glycerin from biodiesel production. Thirty-two crossbred, castrated goat of age were distributed in a fully randomized experimental design with four treatments and eight replicates. The experiment lasted 69 days, and goats were fed sorghum silage and concentrate, with the inclusion of crude glycerin in the diet at levels of 0, 50, 100, and 150 g/kg on a dry matter basis. The diets did not have an effect (p > 0.05) on the serum urea levels. Increasing dietary crude glycerin levels did not the influence the metabolic or urinary profiles (p > 0.05). The liver tissue of the goats fed diets containing the highest crude glycerin inclusion levels showed deleterious effects. The inclusion of crude glycerin with approximately 6.6 g/kg methanol caused deleterious effects to the liver tissue of Boer crossbred goats as the glycerin concentrations increased. However, glycerin levels did not cause deleterious effects on the liver tissue or on the serum or urinary profiles. The use of crude glycerin with lower methanol content is recommended for goat diets.

A incorporação de resíduo gerado pela indústria siderúrgica em componentes cimentícios contribui na destinação final sustentável de um passivo ambiental. Este estudo tem o objetivo de analisar as características físicas e mecânicas de blocos de concreto de vedação fabricados com escória de aciaria BSSF em substituição aos agregados naturais. Assim, foram realizadas substituições parciais de 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% dos agregados naturais pelo agregado artificial na produção dos blocos. Foram utilizados na fabricação dos blocos cimento Portland, areia natural, pedrisco, pó de pedra, escória de aciaria BSSF, aditivo e água. Os blocos de concreto foram fabricados em uma indústria de artefatos de cimento para obter resultados em escala. Em seguida, os blocos foram ensaiados quanto à análise dimensional, absorção de água, área líquida e resistência à compressão aos 28 dias de idade. Os resultados mostraram que é viável a incorporação de escória de aciaria BSSF em blocos de concreto, uma vez que os blocos produzidos atenderam aos requisitos normativos. Destaca-se que os blocos com a substituição de 60% de agregados apresentaram melhores resultados. O estudo é inovador e contribui para utilização de um resíduo sólido industrial considerado, atualmente, um passivo ambiental, além de agregar qualidade ao produto fabricado.

The conceptual models aim to describe and organize concepts from a given domain in order to establish semantic bridges between various information resources in different contexts. In this perspective, the Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), formulated by the International Committee for Documentation (CIDOC), presents itself as a conceptual reference model aimed at museological institutions and collections, aiming to integrate, represent and relate museum objects to various cultural sources through entities and properties. This study, even though focused on the museological reality, is based on the problem of investigating whether the conceptual model CIDOC-CRM is in line with the statements and principles that define concepts, research tools and steps of descriptive cataloging in museums. The aim of this study is to analyze the CIDOC-CRM conceptual model from the formulation of basic principles of descriptive cataloging in museums, seeking to discuss its effective use in the context of semantic relationships between museum collections. This is a descriptive and bibliographic work, and uses as methodological approach the bibliographic review and direct observation. As a result, it was noted that the model performs its semantic relations based on values related to the sphere of meaning and symbolism, pluralizing the existence of the museological object in different environments, and turning to the improvement of international museum information networks. In conclusion, the results obtained made it possible to evidence that CIDOC-CRM is an excellent alternative for the registration of data and for their association in the informational panorama of collections.

Autoinflammatory disorders encompass a wide range of conditions with systemic and neurological symptoms, which can be acquired or inherited. These diseases are characterized by an abnormal response of the innate immune system, leading to an excessive inflammatory reaction. On the other hand, autoimmune diseases result from dysregulation of the adaptive immune response. Disease flares are characterized by systemic inflammation affecting the skin, muscles, joints, serosa, and eyes, accompanied by unexplained fever and elevated acute phase reactants. Autoinflammatory syndromes can present with various neurological manifestations, such as aseptic meningitis, meningoencephalitis, sensorineural hearing loss, and others. Early recognition of these manifestations by general neurologists can have a significant impact on the prognosis of patients. Timely and targeted therapy can prevent long-term disability by reducing chronic inflammation. This review provides an overview of recently reported neuroinflammatory phenotypes, with a specific focus on genetic factors, clinical manifestations, and treatment options. General neurologists should have a good understanding of these important diseases.

ABSTRACT For patients with autoimmune diseases, the risks and benefits of immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory treatment are a matter of continual concern. Knowledge of the follow-up routine for each drug is crucial, in order to attain better outcomes and avoid new disease activity or occurrence of adverse effects. To achieve control of autoimmune diseases, immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory drugs act on different pathways of the immune response. Knowledge of the mechanisms of action of these drugs and their recommended doses, adverse reactions and risks of infection and malignancy is essential for safe treatment. Each drug has a specific safety profile, and management should be adapted for different circumstances during the treatment. Primary prophylaxis for opportunistic infections and vaccination are indispensable steps during the treatment plan, given that these prevent potential severe infectious complications. General neurologists frequently prescribe immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory drugs, and awareness of the characteristics of each drug is crucial for treatment success. Implementation of a routine before, during and after use of these drugs avoids treatment-related complications and enables superior disease control.

O IFLA Library Reference Model, IFLA LRM, é um modelo conceitual de alto nível que surge da necessidade de consolidação dos três modelos da Família FR, das demandas do contexto tecnológico vigente e da compatibilidade com as melhores práticas do Linked Data. O IFLA LRM trata os dados bibliográficos em sentido amplo, explicitando os princípios gerais que governam a estrutura lógica da informação bibliográfica, atuando como base para formulação de regras de catalogação e implementações de sistemas bibliográficos. Dessa maneira, essa pesquisa tem como objetivo identificar o estado da arte do modelo IFLA LRM, partindo da realização de uma Revisão Sistemática da Literatura, identificando casos de uso, vantagens e desvantagens apontadas pela literatura científica. Foram estabelecidas as seguintes categorias de análise: (i) enfoque dos documentos; (ii) conceito de IFLA LRM; (iii) vantagens e desvantagens do modelo; (iv) casos de uso do IFLA LRM. Como resultado é apresentado o estado da arte sobre o modelo IFLA LRM, bem como as tendências de pesquisa e o impacto do modelo na prática catalográfica. Conclui-se, que o modelo IFLA LRM se apresenta como objeto de investigação de importância capital, uma vez que reflete as mudanças na Catalogação Descritiva, os novos rumos da área no contexto digital, na adequação, no compartilhamento e no reuso dos dados bibliográficos no cenário da Web Semântica e Linked Data.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the first and last stocking strategies combined with a partial substitution of the protein from the supplement for urea nitrogen on nutrient intake and digestibility, milk composition, and nitrogen balance of primiparous Girolando cows. The cows were allocated to a double 4 × 4 Latin square composed of four animals and four treatments in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. Supplements were formulated to provide an intake of 0.6% body weight, with and without the inclusion of 21% urea nitrogen in their composition. The first stocking management method improved nutrient intake and digestibility. Supplementation with urea led to a 47% higher excretion of urine N (g/day) than the urea treatment. The combination of the supplement without urea and the first stocking provided higher intake and retention of nitrogen and higher retained-N levels (%digested N). The combination of a supplement containing 21% urea nitrogen and the first stocking can be used without compromising the nutritional and productive parameters of the cows. RESUMO O cenário contemporâneo marcado pela explosão informacional torna-se imprescindível que os ambientes informacionais altamente distribuídos, como a Web, compartilhem e colaborem com dados e informações organizadas e estruturadas. Tal realidade tem desafiado profissionais de diversas áreas do conhecimento, sobretudo, os da área da Ciência da Informação a buscar soluções para o tratamento informacional de tais ambientes, a fim de garantir mecanismos para a busca e a recuperação de recursos informacionais eficientes. Elucida-se que o tratamento dado ao recurso informacional requer uma descrição de forma e de conteúdo legível por máquinas, com resultados compreensíveis aos humanos, e, que ainda, atenda aos requisitos de interoperabilidade entre os ambientes informacionais. Objetiva-se verificar a dimensão relacional entre os instrumentos para a representação de dados e informações, tais como a ontologia e os metadados, considerados como pilares para a modelagem, a estruturação de catálogos e sistemas bibliográficos. Por meio de uma metodologia exploratória e descritiva interdisciplinar nas áreas da Ciência da Informação e da Ciência da Computação identificam-se elementos conceituais, a fim de apontar a necessidade da construção de ambientes informacionais digitais estruturados e padronizados. A utilização da ontologia e dos metadados de forma sinérgica apresenta importância capital para a representação e a descrição de recursos bibliográficos nos ambientes informacionais digitais atualmente, proporcionando a modelagem dos catálogos bibliográficos e a interoperabilidade semântica entre diferentes sistemas e plataformas.

Introdução e objetivo: O treinamento funcional é caracterizado pelo o uso de movimentos livres e comuns da vida diária, comumente utilizado para melhorar a aptidão fí­sica dos praticantes. Desta forma, este estudo tem o objetivo de analisar os efeitos do treinamento funcional praticado em areia sobre a composição corporal de mulheres obesas. Materiais e métodos: trata-se de um estudo piloto, composto por três mulheres (A1, A2 e A3), com idade média de (38,6 ±13,20 anos), sedentárias. Todas realizaram um treinamento de oito semanas, três dias por semana, com duração total de 60 minutos por sessão. Para análise da composição corporal foram feitas avaliações antropométricas e de bioimpedância, antes e após intervenção. Todos os dados foram tabulados para comparar os resultados pré e pós intervenção. Resultados e conclusão: os indiví­duos diminuí­ram a massa corporal (A1: - 1,1 kg; A2: - 9,3 kg; A3: - 3,7 kg), massa gorda (A1: - 2,6 kg; A2: - 6,1 kg; A3: -3,8 kg), grau de obesidade (A1: - 2,1 %; A2: - 18,5 %; A3: - 6,5 %), área de gordura visceral (A1: + 2,9 cm²; A2: - 3,7 cm²; A3: - 3,3 cm²) e a massa magra (A1: + 1,3 kg; A2: - 3,1 kg; A3: + 2,9 kg). Conclui-se que o Treinamento Funcional aplicado na areia possibilitou mudanças positivas sobre a composição corporal de mulheres. Contudo, os resultados aqui encontrados não podem ser extrapolados para outras situações, tendo em vista que as mulheres investigadas se encontravam em déficit calórico.

The objective was to evaluate the inclusion level of licuri cake (LC) in the diet of confined cows on fatty acid profile and milk cholesterol. Four cows with a blood level of ½ to ¾ Holstein x Zebu blood were used, distributed in a 4 x 4 Latin square, where the inclusion levels of the cake in the total diet were 0.0, 5.5, 11.0 and 16.5%, replacing soybean meal in the diet. There was a linear decreasing effect for the fatty acids Lauric, Elaidic, Gamma-Linolenic and conjugated linoleic acid isomers (C18:2cis9trans11; C18:2trans10cis12) from the inclusion levels of LC. The inclusion of licuri cake negatively influenced the concentrations of polyunsaturated fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid isomers, in addition to the fatty acids of the Omega-6 series, which is not interesting from the human nutrition point of view.

This study aimed to evaluate nutrient intake and digestibility, performance and economic viability of steers during the rearing phase in Brachiaria brizantha cultivar Marandu graze and in feedlot. ABSTRACT Importance: Hypertrophic pachymeningitis (HP) is a non-usual manifestation of rheumatologic, infectious, and neoplastic diseases. Etiological diagnosis is a challenge, but when made promptly it creates a window of opportunity for treatment, with the possibility of a total reversal of symptoms. Observations: HP is an inflammatory process of the dura mater that can occur as a manifestation of sarcoidosis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and IgG4-related disease. The HP case evaluation is extensive and includes central nervous system imaging, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, serology, rheumatologic tests, and systemic survey for other manifestations sites. After systemic investigation, meningeal biopsy might be necessary. Etiology guides HP treatment, and autoimmune disorders are treated with corticosteroids alone or associated with an immunosuppressor. Conclusion: HP is a manifestation of several diseases, and a precise etiological diagnosis is crucial because of the difference among treatments. An extensive investigation of patients with HP helps early diagnosis and correct treatment.

As partituras são registros musicais que possuem características singulares para sua produção, circulação e uso. O objetivo deste artigo é descrever e refletir sobre as principais etapas do tratamento de partituras musicais do acervo do Coral USP. Trata-se de um trabalho exploratório-descritivo e caracterizado como um relato de experiência, o qual apresenta elementos da catalogação de partituras tendo como referência o RDA, o padrão de metadados MARC, o referencial teórico acerca dos estudos a respeito da notação musical e as necessidades dos usuários identificadas no ambiente informacional. O processo de organização da particoteca seguiu um planejamento estratégico desenvolvido em três estágios: 1) diagnóstico; 2) capacitação e; 3) ações. O proceso de catalogação apresentado denota a possiblidade de criação de registros descritivos que representam as partituras enquanto documentos passíveis de recuperação em sistemas de gerenciamento bibliográfico. Conclui-se que a leitura documental e a catalogação de partituras exige do catalogador conhecimentos a respeito da estrutura do documento e da notação musical para garantir o atendimento às necessidades informacionais dos usuários, em especial no ambiente digital.

Introdução: Boa aptidão física é importante para o profissional policial, porém, poucos estudos científicos são direcionados para caracterização deste público no nordeste. Objetivo: descrever o nível da aptidão física de policiais do Batalhão de Choque de Pernambuco. Materiais e Métodos: A amostra foi composta por 146 homens realizando os testes de 2400m, flexão abdominal supra e barra fixa, Estatura, Peso Corporal, Índice de Massa Corporal e Relação Cintura-quadril. Foi utilizada a análise descritiva (média, escore máximo, mínimo e desvio padrão). Resultados: A capacidade cardiorrespiratória foi de VO2máx. 40,4 + 9,1 ml.kg.min; Flexão do Abdômen 51,6 + 8,9 repetições; Barra Fixa e 8,6 + 3,8 repetições. Classificação obtida: cardiorrespiratória: Insuficiente 30%, Bom 32%, Ótimo 11% e Excelente 27%; Abdominal: Insuficiente 3%, Bom 2%, Ótimo 20% e Excelente 75% da amostra; Barra Fixa: Insuficiente 8%, Bom 27%, Ótimo 38% e Excelente 27% da amostra. O Índice de Massa Corporal obteve os valores de 26,77 kg/m2. Classificação do IMC: Peso Normal 32%, Sobrepeso 54% e Obesidade l 13%. Relação Cintura-quadril 0,87 + 0,05. Classificação de Risco da RCQ: Baixo 34%, Moderado 54%, 12 Alto % e Muito Alto 1% da amostra. Conclusão: Os resultados indicam que os policiais militares avaliados estão com bom nível de aptidão física, entretanto, para o perfil antropométrico, os valores indicaram riscos à saúde, o que pode comprometer a função exercida. Sendo assim, é necessário um programa permanente de exercício físico, e orientações acerca de controle alimentar por nutricionistas da população estudada.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the economic viability, through different supplementation strategies, of the post-weaning and finishing stages of cattle supplemented on Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu pastures during the rainy and dry seasons. The experimental period was 447 d. The study comprised the post-weaning and finishing stages of 22 intact male crossbred (½ Holstein-Zebu) cattle with an average initial weight of 164.09 ± 12.13 kg and an average age of 7 mo. The animals were distributed in a randomized design with 11 replications per treatment. The following supplementation strategies were tested: strategy 1 (S1): Mineral mix in the 1st and 3rd periods and protein-energy supplementation at 0.2 % of the body weight (BW) in the 2nd period; and strategy 2 (S2): protein-energy supplementation at 0.4 % BW in the 1st and 3rd periods, and protein-energy supplementation at 0.6 % BW in the 2nd period. Strategy 1 resulted in a lower cost per arroba produced and lower cost per hectare, generating a greater net profit per hectare and consequently a higher internal rate of return. When herbage is available, mineral supplementation supplied during the rainy season, associated with low levels of protein-energy supplementation in the dry season (S1), is of greater economic attractiveness for the development of the project, as it leads to higher internal rates of return and net present values in the entire period.

Introdução: A preservação digital tem sido uma das preocupações de diversas áreas do conhecimento, em especial da Ciência da Informação que, por meio da adoção e do uso efetivo dos metadados e dos padrões de metadados disponíveis oferece respaldo para o tratamento de recursos em ambientes digitais. Objetivo: O objetivo dessa pesquisa consiste no estudo do padrão de metadados PREMIS e sua relação com os Cloud Services. Metodologia: A Revisão Sistemática da Literatura foi o método que possibilitou a construção de um referencial teórico consolidado da relação do padrão de metadados PREMIS para a preservação digital em Cloud Services. Resultados: Como resultados, são apresentadas as discussões, as ações e as iniciativas encontradas na literatura científica internacional que versam sobre o uso de padrões de metadados em Cloud Service, bem como os casos que abordam o PREMIS, na perspectiva dos Cloud Services; além disso, o estudo da relação das unidades semânticas do Dicionário de Dados PREMIS em Cloud Services. Conclusão: Conclui-se que, diante do cenário tecnológico vigente, caracterizado pela heterogeneidade de recursos informacionais, o Dicionário de Dados PREMIS com suas unidades semânticas apresenta importância capital para o estabelecimento da preservação digital em Cloud Services.

Resumo Em função das transformações tecnológicas no campo da Catalogação Descritiva, em especial no domínio bibliográfico, com o desenvolvimento de modelos conceituais, como os Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (Requisitos Funcionais para Registros Bibliográficos) e a proposta das orientações Resource Description and Access (Descrição de Recursos e Acesso) para a descrição de recursos, faz-se necessário compreender de que maneira essas iniciativas se relacionam com os repositórios institucionais digitais. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi o estudo dos Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records e das Resource Description and Access estabelecidos no domínio bibliográfico, a fim de identificar o estado da arte sobre as tendências do domínio bibliográfico e a possibilidade de aplicá-los a repositórios institucionais digitais. O aporte teórico e metodológico da Revisão Sistemática da Literatura propiciou o mapeamento e a identificação de elementos-chave para responder à questão de pesquisa. Foram analisados vinte e cinco documentos na Revisão Sistemática da Literatura, o que pode ser considerado um índice relativamente baixo sobre a produção científica condizente à proposta de pesquisa e à necessidade de estudos mais aprofundados acerca do tema. Foram identificadas tecnologias computacionais, casos de uso e aplicações específicas em ambientes bibliográficos, acadêmicos e na Web. Sublinha-se que o estado da arte construído se apresenta como um ponto de partida para o desenvolvimento de ferramentas e de aplicações que aproximem o domínio bibliográfico dos repositórios institucionais digitais.

In times of crisis, companies with solid Corporate Governance (CG) tend to experience greater credibility and therefore face softer barriers in the capital market. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between CG and the share performance, in periods with and without crisis. For this purpose, companies in the commercial sector listed on B3 were considered, with shares traded in the period 2015/2016 (with crisis) and 2017/2018 (without crisis), resulting in a sample of 20 companies, totaling 319 observations. The companies were grouped by participation or not in a differentiated CG segment (L1, L2 and NM) of B3 and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression with panel data. The results of the descriptive statistics show that, on average, the shares of companies in the trade sector listed in B3 “With-CG” performed better than those “Without-CG”, probably the result of greater transparency of the information provided, the equitable treatment of investors and the measures for monitoring agents required by CG practices. Regarding the estimated model, there was statistical significance and a positive sign for the independent variables earnings per share (EPS) and the participation of different levels of corporate governance (1% and 5% respectively). However, the variable that captures the economic crisis was not significant, and it cannot be inferred that CG practices are capable of mitigating the negative effects of economic crises on the share performance.

In this study, the feeding behavior of Nellore heifers receiving supplements containing mineral salt, conventional urea and slow release urea during the grazing stage at Brachiaria brizantha-based pastures during the dry period of the year was evaluated. Fifty-six heifers with approximately 284.72 ± 27.48 kg of body weight were used, distributed in a completely randomized design with four different treatment types: mineral salt; Urea - supplementation with 8.18% conventional urea; Mixed urea - supplementation with 4.09% conventional urea and 4.39% slow release urea and slow urea - supplementation with 8.78% slow release urea. Animals supplemented with mineral salt had longer grazing times compared to those supplemented with mixed urea, slow urea and regular urea. The dry matter intake, neutral detergent fiber and total digestible nutrients presented a similar effect, with higher values for heifers consuming supplements containing regular urea and slow urea compared to those of mixed urea. However, when the efficiency of hourly intake was evaluated, the animals that received urea supplement were more efficient in relation to the other treatments. The number of grazing periods for heifers receiving slow urea supplementation was higher compared to heifers receiving salt and mixed urea. The duration of grazing and rumination periods was longer for heifers receiving salt supplementation and mixed urea than those receiving regular urea and slow urea. It is recommended to use supplements at the level of 0.3% of body weight for heifers receiving conventional urea.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of inclusion of palm kernel cake in the diet on dietary intake and digestibility and performance of lactating crossbred cows. Twelve Holstein × Zebu crossbred cows were distributed in three 4 × 4 Latin squares with the following treatments: control (no inclusion of palm kernel cake in the diet); inclusion of 50 g of palm kernel cake kg-1 in the total dry matter, 100 g of palm kernel cake kg-1 in the total dry matter, and 150 g of palm kernel cake kg-1 in the total dry matter. There was no effect of palm kernel cake on the intakes of dry matter, corrected neutral detergent fiber, non-fibrous carbohydrates, and total digestible nutrients. The intakes of crude protein and ether extract increased linearly. Inclusion of palm kernel cake in the diet did not influence the digestibility coefficients of dry matter, protein, ether extract, and non-fibrous carbohydrates, or milk production, feed efficiency, and body weight change. Fat-corrected milk yield increased linearly with the addition of palm kernel cake. Inclusion of up to 150 g of palm kernel cake in diets did not influence the dietary intake and performance of lactating cows or the composition of their milk.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate the carcass characteristics and the physicochemical parameters, centesimal composition, and fatty acid profile of the longissimus lumborum muscle of crossbred steers on a Brachiaria (Syn. Uruchloa) brizantha cv. Marandu pasture during the growing and finishing phases. Twenty-two uncastrated steers ½ Holstein/Zebu, with an average initial weight of 210 kg ± 8.2 kg and eight months of age, were distributed in a completely randomized design, in which the experimental period was fractionated in to three seasons associated with two nutritional plans (NP1 and NP2) and 11 animals by treatment: NP1- mineral mixture ad libitum in rainy seasons + nitrogen/energy supplement at 1 g.kg-1 body weight (BW) in the dry season; and NP2 - nitrogen/energy supplement at 2 g.kg-1 BW in rainy season 1 and in the dry season + nitrogen/energy supplement at 1 g.kg-1 BW in rainy season 2, provided daily at 1000 h. Of the carcass measurements, differences were only observed (p>0.05) between the nutritional plans for loin-eye area corrected for 100 kg of hot carcass weight. Among the physicochemical parameters, only shear force was influenced (p>0.05) by the treatments, with higher values obtained in Nutritional Plan 1. Os suportes da informação são utilizados pelo homem desde o princípio de sua criação como pilar da sua própria existência, permitindo a transmissão de ideologias às gerações futuras e contribuindo para a evolução da humanidade. A imagem é uma forma de comunicação e registro da memória, que, permeadas pelas Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TIC), possibilitou a expansão de formas de registro, as imagens digitais. A crescente produção e o uso de informações imagéticas digitais, sobremaneira no contexto da web, gera a necessidade de encontrar soluções para o estabelecimento de parâmetros que propiciem a descrição e o acesso aos recursos imagéticos. O objetivo geral desta pesquisa consiste na identificação e no mapeamento dos padrões de metadados para o recurso imagético digital, pautando-se no Tratamento de Recursos Imagéticos (TRI), de modo a propiciar a recuperação mais efetiva das informações no domínio web. Caracteriza-se como uma metodologia exploratória e descritiva, com o intuito de mapear os padrões para a representação de imagens digitais e seus atributos, relacionando-os aos aspectos intrínsecos à web. Como resultados, são apresentados o mapeamento e a categorização dos padrões de metadados, que abrangem Dublin Core, MARC21, MODS, MIX, IPTC, Core VRA, XMP e PLUS, e aponta-se um corpus teórico referente aos conceitos e procedimentos para formas de representação e descrição da imagem digital no âmbito da web pautado na literatura científica da área de Biblioteconomia, Ciência da Informação e Ciência da Computação. Dessa forma, sublinha-se que as formas convencionais e tradicionais da Ciência da Informação, principalmente no que tange ao tratamento de recursos informacionais, podem propiciar uma melhora no desempenho de recuperação de informações imagéticas digitais em ambientes informacionais.

This study monitored self-reported feeling of mood, fatigue and recovery, anthropometry and physical performance in Tae Kwon Do athletes during a pre-competitive period. We assessed mood states (Questionnaire POMS), stress and subjective recovery (RESTQ - Sport 76), estimated fat mass (skinfolds), and physical performance (speed test - 30meters, horizontal jump and aerobic performance - Queens College step test) in nine male athletes of Paraiba tae kwon do state team, Brazil. These evaluations were performed every three days along two weeks before the competition and along the week after the competition day. During the week prior to competition self-reported feelings of mood, stress and recovery increased, followed by a decrease in the recovery scales. Athletes decreased their velocity, but it was observed a significant increase in muscle power (P = 0.023, Δ = 7.2 %). No changes were observed for aerobic performance during the same week. During the pre-competitive period, the athletes presented an increase in psychological stress and a decrease in physical performance.

This study aimed to evaluate the inclusion of castor bean meal in the diet for lactating cows on Bracharia brizhanta pasture and its implications for nutritional and productive parameters. Eight crossbred cows were distributed in two 4 x 4 Latin squares, with four (0%; 3.33%; 6.66% and 10%) inclusion levels of castor bean meal in the total diet. The experiment consisted of four experimental periods of 21 days each. The digestibility and dry matter intake were estimated from fecal output, checked with the aid of external (chromium oxide) and internal (iNDF) indicators. Urine and milk were collected to determine the nitrogen balance and microbial protein production. The inclusion of different levels of castor bean meal in the diet for lactating cows did not affect the intake of dry matter and nutrients, and the same lack of effect was found for the digestibility of dry matter and total digestible nutrients, variation in body weight, milk production, chemical composition of milk, microbial production and nitrogen balance. The inclusion of up to 10% castor bean meal in the total diet did not influence productive parameters evaluated, and the use was conditioned to the price of castor bean meal.

Este artigo objetiva apresentar o método e a estrutura do ciclo de Planejamento Estratégico (PE) para o período de 2016 a 2019 na Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa). Para isso, utilizou-se o referencial teórico sobre PE, apresentando, especificamente, a metodologia Balanced Scorecard (BSC), com destaque para o emprego desses conceitos na Gestão Pública. A partir disso, é apresentado como a metodologia BSC foi aplicada na Anvisa, na forma de um estudo de caso, com ênfase no método utilizado para a construção do PE, bem como nas diretrizes para sua elaboração. Discute-se ainda a revisão do Mapa Estratégico da Agência, com análise comparativa entre os mapas anteriormente vigente e o atual, descrevendo-se as etapas de construção e validação dos diferentes elementos do Mapa. Conclui-se que o método de Planejamento apontado é aplicável à Gestão Pública, de tal forma que é possível desenhar a estratégia e priorizar os objetivos, com vistas a alcançar resultados e melhorar o desempenho da instituição pública. ================================================ This article main objective is to present the method, framework and guidelines applied by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) Strategic Planning, for the period 2016-2019. In order to provide information about the concepts that are used in the project, there is a section that shows Strategic Planning and Balanced Scorecard theoretical frameworks, with an emphasis on how these concepts are applied to Public Management. Then, the authors show how these frameworks were implemented by Anvisa. This article focuses on the Strategy Map review and, in this regard, it compares the previous Strategy Map and the current one. In this comparison, there is a discussion about its elaboration and validation methods, as well as about the guidelines for its preparation.

This study aimed to evaluate four deferral periods for pastures of Brachiaria decumbens cv. Basilisk, and the implications on the ingestive behavior of crossbred heifers. Animals were distributed in a completely randomized design with four periods (63, 84, 105 and 126 days), each with three replications. The time spent daily by animals on grazing, idle, rumination and in the trough was not affected by periods of sealing the pastures, with mean values of 566.6; 422.29; 426.9 and 24.1 minutes, respectively. The number of feeding stations, the time spent in the stations and the number of feeding stations per minute were not different between periods of sealing the pastures, averaging 106.4; 34.6 and 3.0, respectively. The number of bites and the number of bites per minute showed a quadratic effect, with a point of maximum equal to 1,098 bites and 31 bites per minute, observed on days 93 and 88, respectively. Feed efficiency was linearly decreasing influenced by periods of sealing the pastures. Periods of grazing and idle, the number of bites, the number of bites per minute and feed efficiency are influenced by different deferral periods of pastures under the conditions of this study.

This study evaluated the feeding behavior of lactating cows on pasture of Brachiaria (Urochloa) decumbens fed with concentrate supplementation containing different levels of castor meal inclusion treated with calcium hydroxide Ca (OH) 2, in the proportions of 0; 3.3; 6.6 to 10% of the total diet. Eight cows (degree of blood ½ to ¾ Holstein x Zebu), with previous average production of 3000-4000 kg adjusted to 300 days of lactation and average body weight of 465.16 kg ± 65.45 kg were distributed in two 4 x 4 Latin squares. The behavior was assessed every five minutes for 24 hours on the 21st day of each period. The results were tested by analysis of variance and regression at p < 0.05 probability. The time spent in grazing, rumination, idle and in the trough; total chewing time, number of cuds per day, chewing per day; chewing per cud; the number of periods of grazing, rumination, idle and in the trough; time spent by period of grazing, rumination, idle and in the trough were not different between treatments. The feed efficiency (g DM h-1; g NDFa h-1 and g TDN h-1) and time spent per cud ruminated TSR sec cud-1) were linearly reduced. It is recommended to include up to 10% castor meal treated with Ca (OH)2 in the total diet.

To evaluate the fatty acid profile of milk from cows fed palm kernel cake (PKC), 12 Holstein × Zebu crossbred cows were kept in the feedlot, distributed into a triple 4 × 4 Latin square, and fed the following treatments: 1) control; 2) inclusion of 50 g PKC/kg in the total dry matter (TDM); 3) inclusion of 100 g PKC/kg in the TDM; and 4) inclusion of 150 g PKC/kg in the TDM. Milk samples from the morning and afternoon milkings were collected in the amount of 1% of the daily production of each animal; subsequently, 100-mL subsamples were frozen for analysis of the fatty acid profile. Inclusion of PKC did not change the concentration of short-chain fatty acids or myristoleic (C14:1), pentadecenoic (C15:1), palmitic (C16:0), and palmitoleic (C16:1) fatty acids. Concentrations of medium-chain and lauric (C12:0) and myristic (C14:0) fatty acids increased linearly (P < 0.05). A decreasing linear effect was observed (P < 0.05) on the concentration of the C15:0 fatty acid. No effects were observed (P > 0.05) on the long-chain fatty acids and those of the omega 6 and 3 series; on the ratio between poly-unsaturated and saturated fatty acids; or on the ratio between the fatty acids of the omega 6/omega 3 series. The concentration of conjugated linoleic acid was not influenced (P > 0.05) by inclusion of PKC in the diet. Addition of palm kernel cake to the diet of lactating cows influences the concentration of medium-chain fatty acids, and of lauric (C12:0), myristic (C14:0), and pentadecanoic (C15:0) fatty acids in their milk.

This study aimed to evaluate the inclusion of castor meal in the diet of lactating cows in grazing system and its implications in feeding behavior. Eight Holstein x Zebu crossbred cows, with average milk production adjusted to 300 days in the previous lactation, between 5000 and 6000 kg and 100.33 ± 13.33 days of lactation and average body weight of 509.47 ± 61.90 kg, were distributed in two 4 x 4 Latin squares, with 4 levels of castor meal inclusion in the total diet, and using Brachiaria brizantha pasture as roughage. The experiment consisted of four experimental periods, lasting 21 days each. In each trial, the roughage and supplements were collected for evaluation of chemical composition. Animals were subjected to visual observation for evaluation of feeding behavior for 24 hours, from the 20th to the 21st day of each experimental period. The observations of the activities were recorded every five minutes. We determined the number of ruminating chews and the time spent in rumination of each ruminal bolus with the use of digital stopwatch. There was a quadratic effect for the grazing time with maximum point of inclusion of castor meal at 4.61% in the diet; other variables did not differ: rumination, idleness, trough, rumination efficiency, feeding and grazing time, rumination and idleness. Castor meal can be included in the diet with levels up to 10%, for little changes in the feeding behavior of animals.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of three herbage allowances (5, 10, and 15 kg dry matter [DM] 100-1 of body weight [BW]) for Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu pastures in a continuous grazing system on the morphological and nutritional characteristics of forage, animal performance, and economic viability in Nellore heifers. The total experimental area was 60 ha, divided into 12 paddocks of 5 ha each, with 4 paddocks per treatment. The experimental animals were Nellore heifers (260 in total), with average BW of 301.16 ± 9.12 kg, receiving 0.4 % BW in multiple supplements. We evaluated the production, structural characteristics, and nutritional value of the forage, productive performance, carcass characteristics, and economic viability of each allowance. There were significant effects for the production, st uctural characteristics, and nutritional value of the forage treatment. The proportions of leaves were 42.40, 38.20, and 30.88 % and the leaf:stem ratios were 1.22, 1.03, and 0.83 for the 5, 10, and 15 kg DM 100-1 BW herbage allowances, respectively. The average daily weight gain (mean 0.42, 0.75, and 0.63 kg daily-1) and stocking rate (3.35, 1.87, and 1.26 animal unit ha-1) had a significant effect for the 5, 10, and 15 kg DM 100-1 BW forage allowance, respectively. The herbage allowances were evaluated as being economically viable with a profit margin of 10.37, 23.65, and 14.43 % for the 5, 10, and 15 kg DM 100-1 BW allowances, respectively. The greatest pasture response was found in the 5 kg DM 100-1 BW allowance and was related to better nutritional values and morphological characteristics of the pasture and greater stoking rate and weight gain per area. The herbage allowance of 10 kg DM 100-1 BW be applied to obtain higher animal performance and better economic viability of heifers in B. brizantha cv. Marandu pastures in a continuous grazing method that are receiving protein-energy supplementation.

This study aimed to evaluate the inclusion of crude glycerin in diets for Nellore heifers grazing on a Brachiaria brizantha pasture, during the dry season, on urine and plasma urea concentrations, feeding behavior, and microbial protein synthesis. Sixty Nellore heifers with an average initial weight of 285.89 ± 18.74 kg, at approximately 19 ± 2 months of age, were distributed, in a completely randomized design, into the following five treatments with twelve replicates: 0.00, 4.00, 8.00, 12.00, and 16.00% inclusion of crude glycerin in the diet they were fed. Grazing time decreased linearly (P < 0.05) by 7.44 min with every percent of crude glycerin included in the diet. Microbial efficiency was not affected (P > 0.05), averaging 113.73g CP per kg TDN ingested. Plasma nitrogen concentration did not show any effects (P > 0.05), averaging 13.11 mg dL?1. Supplementing heifers during the dry season, at 0.7% BW, using up to 16% crude glycerin in the diet composition, did not elicit positive responses from feeding behavior and had little influence on microbial synthesis.

This study has to evaluate the effect of different levels of nitrogen in pastures Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu deferred, and its implications on feeding behavior and the nitrogen balance of Nelore heifers. The design was used completely randomized, with four treatments (nitrogen of levels) and four replications (number of fertilized paddocks). Were used 16 heifers Nellore, averaging eight months of age and initial body weight of 178.69 ± 26.67 kg, 4 heifers for treatments. The results were evaluated by analysis of variance and regression at 5% probability. The nitrogen levels did not influence the behavioral activities with average time of 576.25 minutes (10:00) grazing, 509.84 minutes (8h50min) in rumination, 315.16 minutes (5h25min) in idle and 39 minutes in the feeding trough. For nitrogen intake, digested nitrogen and the nitrogen retention (g/day) and the digested nitrogen (%N ingested), there was increasing linear effect (P 0.05) nitrogen in the feces and urine nitrogen (g/day), and not the nitrogen retention (% of N ingested) and nitrogen retention (% of digested N), whose mean values were 22.98 g/day; 39.48 g/day; 46.83% and 78.10%, respectively. For N urea in urine, there was increasing linear effect (P0.05) of nitrogen rates, averaging 15.79 ml/dL. The behavioral activities of the heifers are not affected by nitrogen levels in pastures Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu deferred. The ingested nitrogen, retained nitrogen (g/day), digested nitrogen (g/day) (% of ingested N), the urea nitrogen in urine, excretion in urine urea and urea nitrogen in urine are influenced by the amount increasing crude protein forage derived nitrogen adduction, these results are important to prevent the economic losses due to excessive supply of protein in the diet.

In the context of environmental liabilities, this study aimed to analyze the impact of CPC 25 in recognition and disclosure of environmental provisions and contingent their reflections in the debt of the companies studied. Therefore, we investigated the behavior of balances related to environmental provisions and debt indicators in the period 2006-2014, 90% of high environmental impact companies listed on the BM & FBovespa, comparatively before and after the adoption of this pronouncement technician. It was found evidence of increased companies disclosed this information, with greater representation in non-current liabilities, although, in general, these are unrepresentative items of the equity of the entity. However, the quantitative increase in the recognition of environmental liabilities when analyzed from the perspective of debt indicators, no significant statistical difference. The results counter the expected increase in debt ratios due to the presence of regulating environmental liabilities. In addition, it is clear that despite the regulations, uncertainty and complexity in the measurement of contingent liabilities, coupled with the discretion of the manager as the judgment of the environmental contingent liability as probable or possible (which determines its accounting or not) can also contribute to understand the results of this study.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different sources of lipids in the diets of dairy cows on the intake and digestibility of nutritional fractions, and milk production and composition. The experiment was conducted in a 42-hectare area divided into eight paddocks covered with Brachiaria brizantha. Twelve crossbred Holstein × Zebu cows were distributed into three simultaneous 4 × 4 Latin squares. The treatments consisted of different sources of lipids, as follows: diet with no extra source of lipids; diet with cottonseed as the source of lipids; diet with soy oil; and diet with used frying soy oil. The intakes of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber, crude protein, total carbohydrates, and non-fibrous carbohydrates were similar for all diets. The use of lipid sources caused a decrease in the apparent digestibility of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber, non-fibrous carbohydrates, and crude protein. The levels of protein, lactose, and defatted dry matter were reduced with the use of lipid sources but did not affect milk production. The use of cottonseed, soy oil, and used frying soy oil as sources of lipids in diets for lactating cows at pasture do not improve milk production, and their use is therefore optional.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of nitrogen on deferred pastures of Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu, and the implications on the economic viability of production of Nellore heifers. This was a completely randomized design with four treatments (T1 = deferred pasture without nitrogen fertilization; T2 = deferred pasture fertilized with 50 kg N ha-1, T3 = deferred pasture with 100 kg N ha-1, T4 = deferred pasture with 150 kg N ha-1) and four replications (16 fertilized paddocks). First, there were used 48 Nellore heifers, average eight months of age and initial body weight of 178.69 ± 26.67 kg, with three heifers in each paddock, in all treatments, in a continuous grazing system, with variable stocking rate. Only the treatment the without nitrogen fertilization showed negative monetary values of R$ -181.96, R$ ha-1 -72.79 and R$ @-1 -32.11. The treatment with 50 kg N ha-1 achieved the highest positive monetary values of R$ 756.02, R$ ha-1 302.40 and R$ @-1 50.52. Economic viability data in beef heifer production demonstrate that the treatment with 50 kg N ha-1 is the most financially viable under the conditions of this study.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of spineless-cactus meal substituting for maize in diets for supplemented steers grazing on Urochoa brizantha during the postweaning phase. The experiment was conducted on Princesa do Mateiro farm, located in Ribeirão do Largo-BA, Brazil. Forty crossbred steers with an average body weight of 261 ± 7.46 kg were distributed into four groups for evaluation of the following four levels of substitution of ground maize for spinelesscactus meal: 0.00, 30.00, 60.00, and 90.00%. The results were analysed statistically by variance and regression analyses at a 5% error probability. Increasing the amount of spineless-cactus meal in the diet had a quadratic effect on the grazing time and on the time spent on other activities. The diet had a quadratic effect on the number of grazing periods, the number of periods at the trough, and the total feeding and chewing times. In contrast, the number of periods spent on other activities and on rumination was not influenced by the level of spineless-cactus meal. The bite rate, number of bites per swallow, and number of bites per day increased linearly, whereas the swallowing time and number of cuds ruminated per day decreased as the level of spineless-cactus meal added to the diet wasincreased. The feed and rumination efficiencies of dry matter, neutral detergent fibre, crude protein, and non-fibre carbohydrates were not influenced by the level of substitution of spineless-cactus meal for ground maize. Spinelesscactus meal levels close to 60% probably provided greater fibre degradation, leading the animals to spend more time on social interactions with the group, use the feed better, and possibly have a better feed conversion..

The objective was to determine the existing linear correlation between the consumed fatty acids and deposited in the muscle Longissimus dorsi 35 uncastrated male bovine animals, crossbred Nellore predominance, with average weight of 428.0 ± 32.11 kg, ending in Brachiaria decumbens cv. Basilisk. The experimental design was completely randomized with five diets and seven animals for 74 days. Diets consisted of glycerin inclusion levels (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12%) in the dry matter (DM). The animals were weighed every 28 days to assess the weight gain (ADG) and adjusts the diets. Samples of Brachiaria decumbens, supplements, and Longissimus dorsi were analyzed for evaluation of fatty acid profile. The correlation was performed by estimating the coefficients of linear correlation. The observed correlation profile of the modified meat fatty acid with a reduced concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids and increasing the concentration of fatty acids of the ? series - 6 as well as the ratio between the fatty acids of the series ? - and ? 6 - 3. No correlations were found with hipercolesterêmicos fatty acids ( lauric , myristic and palmitic ) of bovine muscle supplemented with low purity glycerin.

Avaliou-se o comportamento ingestivo de novilhas Nelore, na fase de recria em pastejo de Brachiaria brizantha durante o período seco do ano, recebendo suplementos contendo sal mineral, ureia convencional e ureia de liberação lenta. Foram utilizadas 56 novilhas com aproximadamente 284,72 ± 27,48 kg de peso corporal médio, distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente casualisado sob quatro tratamentos, sendo: Sal mineral; Ureia – suplementação com 8,18% ureia convencional; Ureia mista - suplementação com 4,09% ureia convencional e 4,39% ureia de liberação lenta e Ureia lenta – suplementação com 8,78% ureia de liberação lenta. Animais suplementados com sal mineral apresentaram maior tempo de pastejo comparado aos que receberam suplemento ureia mista, ureia lenta e ureia. O consumo de matéria seca, fibra em detergente neutro e nutrientes digestíveis totais apresentou efeito similar, com maiores valores para as novilhas consumindo suplemento contendo ureia e ureia lenta comparado à ureia mista. Entretanto, quando se avalia a eficiência de consumo por hora, os animais que receberam suplemento ureia foram mais eficientes em relação aos demais tratamentos. O número de períodos em pastejo para as novilhas que receberam suplemento ureia lenta foi maior comparado com novilhas que receberam suplemento sal e ureia mista. O tempo de duração do período de pastejo e ruminação foram maiores para as novilhas que receberam suplemento sal e ureia mista do que àquelas que receberam ureia e ureia lenta. Recomenda-se utilizar suplementos no nível de 0,3% do peso corporal para novilhas de corte contendo ureia convencional.

A garantia de preservação digital a longo prazo só será possível com a adoção efetiva de padrões ou esquemas de metadados, pois são eles que determinarão a descrição, a representação, a consistência e a persistência do recurso/objeto digital no ambiente informacional, além de definir a interoperabilidade entre sistemas. A adoção de metadados para preservação apoia a administração dos processos relativos ao arquivamento e à manutenção do acesso à informação digital a longo prazo, com garantias de autenticidade, de integridade e de confiabilidade. Neste cenário, foi objetivo do trabalho identificar e descrever padrões ou esquemas de metadados que poderiam ser considerados por instituições que estão desenvolvendo seus repositórios institucionais, para que possam contemplar a preservação digital. Para tanto, foi desenvolvida pesquisa bibliográfica e sistematização e análise de conteúdo. Foram selecionados e analisados os seguintes esquemas e padrões de metadados: DUBLIN CORE, MODS, EAD, ANSI/NISO Z39.87, METS e o PREMIS. A análise dos resultados indica que os metadados descritivos e técnicos do DC, MODS, EAD e ANSI/NISO Z39.87 ou MIX, possuem um papel mais direcionado a amparar o METS e o PREMIS, tanto na descoberta e no registro dos aspectos técnicos do objeto digital, como na comprovação de sua procedência, autenticidade, contexto e integridade. Englobando metadados descritivos, estruturais, administrativos e de preservação do PREMIS, o METS pode gerir os objetos digitais atuando como um Pacote de Submissão de Informação (PSI), Pacote de Arquivamento de Informação (PAI) ou Pacote de Disseminação de Informação (PDI) num Sistema Aberto de Arquivamento de Informação (SAAI).

In a pre-competition period, combined analysis of physical, clinical physiological and psychosocial features in taekwondo has not yet been investigated. Therefore, this study examined the physical, physiological and psychosocial states of taekwondo athletes in pre-competition period for the Brazilian championship. In a pre-experimental study, five athletes from the men's Paraíba taekwondo team (26±8 years old; 1.76±0.04m) underwent to anthropometric measures, dosage of muscle damage, systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, evaluation of moods, stress, and recovery, and power of lower limbs in two moments: 30 (pre) and two (post) days before the Brazilian taekwondo championship. Data analysis was performed by Wilcoxon test (95% confidence). Percentage difference (Δ) between the moments and the Cohen’s effect size (d) were calculated. Percent effects were observed in muscle damage (Δ= −25.7% in CK, d= 1.1), and antioxidant activity (Δ= 22.7% in MDA, d= 2.56). Conflicts/Pressure and Depression states increase 40% (d= 1.11) and 100% (d= 1.30), respectively. In turn, the power of lower limbs increased by 9.05% (d= 4.24). We conclude that athletes increased Conflict/Pressure and Depression states, however, they increased the power of lower limbs and kept the physiological state expected to compete.

The addition of 0; 5; 10 and 15% cassava bagasse, based on the dry matter of the total diet of crossbred Holstein v. Zebu cows, was evaluated on milk production and composition and on the impacts of diet costs. The animals, weighing an average of 478.5 kg, were in the middle third lactation period. Diet with 15% cassava bagasse provided a 13.2% increase in production when compared to control. Feed conversion had a quadratic effect with minimum point at 4.2% of cassava bagasse inclusion. Crude protein, the only milk component that changed, increased linearly with the inclusion of cassava bagasse levels. Treatment with 15% cassava bagasse caused a more effective operational cost (42.8% higher when compared to control) and the highest leveling point for milk production and price. The lowest leveling points were treatments with 5 and 10% inclusion of cassava bagasse, which had the best economic results. Concentrates caused cost increase, particularly when roughage : concentrate ratio decreased due to higher cassava bagasse inclusion levels.

The objective of this experiment was to verify the effect of nutritional management that alternates periods of energy/protein restriction and refeeding of grazing crossbred heifers during their prepuberty on the hormonal profile and blood parameters. The study was conducted at Princesa do Mateiro farm in Ribeirão do Largo, in the southwest region of the state of Bahia. Twenty crossbred heifers 5/8 Dairy Guzerat x 3/8 Dutch with an average age of 12 months and average body weight of 187 ± 13.74 kg were used at the beginning of the experiment. It lasted 238 days, 14 out of them were for the animals’ adaptation. The animals were kept in rotational grazing of Brachiariabrizantha cv. Marandú pastures and randomly assigned to two treatments: Control (T100) = animals receiving concentrate supplement to supply 100% of the nutrients requirement to gain 750 g day-1 of live weight and Compensatory Nutrition (CN). The animals of the CN treatment alternated periods of Restriction (T80) = receiving concentrate supplement to meet 80% of the demand for nutrients of the (T100) and periods of Refeeding (T120) = getting concentrate supplement to supply 120% of the nutrient requirements of the (T100 The final plasma concentrations of IGF-I, glucose and urea were higher (P0.05). There were positive correlations (P
