In this work, we show a narrative review conserning instruments to measure the quality of Life in Health Care from a patients point of view. In particular, we pay attention on the construction of questionnaire and on the choice of the areas/settings (physical, emotional, social, functional, economical,...).

The definition of requested requirements by the companies represents one of the key aspects for the entrance of new professional figures. In particular, focusing the attention on food & beverage sector, in this study two job profiles are considered: pastry chef e pastry assistant. Data for this analysis are collected by The AdeccoGroup in Italy in 2016 and 2017. The personal competencies to make capable to face the growing flexibility of the profession are object of specified request cross-sectional to more economic sectors. After a brief description of the database content, the principal objective of the research is to report the most requested requirements for the companies. Other analysis are provided to show possible relationships among these requirements and the previous experience owned by candidates. Finally, a comparison is presented about the competencies requested by the two job figures using descriptive statistics and classification techniques.

Patient quality of life (QoL) is a pivotal parameter, which is often used by clinicians to evaluate how treatments and therapies influence patients’ functionality and emotional state, aiming to ameliorate interventions and their outcomes. Currently, the majority of questionnaires assessing the QoL are designed with the main contribution of clinicians and, therefore, include items that are cantered on the disease rather than on its multifaceted impact on people’s life. The failure to truly grasp the patients’ perspective, their needs, aspirations, perceptions and emotional state, is a major drawback that sets medical care on clinical parameters alone. We aimed to bridge this gap by establishing an innovative patient-designed QoL index to provide a new, unbiased tool considering the patients’ perception of their own well-being. Based predominantly on patients’ contribution, we defined specific areas (physical, emotional, social, functional, economical) and the respective characterizing features, and applied a pseudo-Delphi methodology combined with customer-satisfaction techniques. For each feature, the degree of agreement and the importance were assessed on a Likert scale. A synthetic QoL index was created by weighting the importance of each item. The methodology tested led to the development of a valid patient-designed QoL index, providing a way forward that could potentially be applied to many different conditions. The areas and the features included are indeed common to all patients, irrespective of their disease. We found that the process of methodology development enhanced the patients’ awareness of their subjective experience with the disease, and enabled them to better present their situation to the clinicians. The patient-designed QoL index provides a descriptive model that can be helpful to patients, clinicians and third parties and that can be further integrated with clinical details to obtain an overall view of the course of treatment for each patient.

ICT engagement has become an important key driver regarding the competence for the adults, but even more for young people. As it was pointed out in 2015, ICT interest (a component of ICT engagement) is defined as “content-specific motivational disposition” and describes ”individuals’ long-term preference for dealing with topics, tasks, or activities related to ICT” (Goldhammer et al., 2017). Using data from 2018 Programme for International Student assessment (PISA), this work will show the gender difference in ICT interest for 15-years old students of 23 OECD countries. Moreover a three-level multilevel model will explain the effects of the characteristics of the student, of the school in which the student learns and of the country in which the student livis on the ICT interest.

Noncommunicable diseases are responsible for 70% of deaths worldwide, primarily induced by the use of tobacco, unhealthy dietary habits, lack of physical activity (PA) and abuse of alcohol (WHO, 2017). Among these behaviours, the adoption of healthy eating patterns and a regular physical activity initiated in childhood may reduce the risk of occurrence of overweight and obesity, immediately, and the insurgence of chronic diseases, into adulthood (Nicklas et al., 2001). To promote the early adoption of such healthy practices family has always played a key role (Patrick & Nicklas, 2005). Nevertheless, the children’s daily life environment is deeply and rapidly changing and the central role of family in shaping children lifestyle habits is being called into question. The study focuses on four behaviors indicated as highly – negatively and positively – related to the occurrence of overweight and obesity. The advisable behaviors are i) eating food for breakfast, ii) doing regular PA and iii) consuming five portions of fruit and vegetable (FV) per day. The unadvisable behavior is consuming one or more savory snacks a day. Each habit is studied individually but by means of the same model (i.e. including the same variables). The model employs a multinomial logistic (MNL) regression to relate the occurrence of the four investigated behaviors to the characteristics of the children (age and gender) and the respective household. Specifically the latter outline health and socio-demographic features of the household: share of obese adults, number of children and adults, adults’ education level, share of females, and geographical area. Moreover, to assess the household behavioral environment – main focus of the research – the share of adults manifesting the investigated children behaviors is included in the model. In questa nota si presenta una metodologia per l’identificazione e la quantificazione delle competenze richieste alle figure professionali applicandola ai settori delle ricerche di mercato, della pubblicità e dell’organizzazione di fiere ed eventi. Obiettivo del lavoro è determinare la composizione ideale di saperi in cui dovrebbe articolarsi l’offerta formativa di un corso di laurea triennale che si proponga di fornire neolaureati impiegabili in tali settori. Per arrivare al percorso formativo ideale si utilizzeranno congiuntamente le informazioni reperibili nel database O*NET, il sistema messo a punto dall’ US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration e quelle sulle classi di laurea e sui settori scientifico-disciplinari forniti dal MIUR. Il ricorso all’analisi delle reti sociali permetterà di incorporare nel disegno anche la struttura di ciascuno dei tre settori.

In this paper, we propose a method for the evaluation of relative and impact external efficiency of university studies as effects of education on the long-term income of graduates. In questa nota si propone un nuovo approccio per la predisposizione dell’offerta formativa di un corso di laurea triennale che ingloba i “saperi” richiesti dal mercato del lavoro alle figure professionali da inserire in specifici settori di attività economica. Il punto di partenza di questo lavoro è l’adozione di un sistema integrato di informazioni che descrive le figure professionali in termini di competenze richiesti loro dalle imprese. Nel modello proposto si costruisce, innanzitutto, una corrispondenza tra i “saperi” e i settori scientifico-disciplinari (le 371 macro-aree scientifiche definite dal MUR cui appartengono e in cui sono raggruppati gli insegnamenti impartiti nei corsi di studio) per pervenire, grazie al successivo ricorso alla Social Network Analysis, all’individuazione dei profili professionali più rilevanti e, quindi, alla “Ricetta di produzione del laureato” per ciascuno dei settori di attività in esame.

Our paper focuses on the law of growth of the human capital deriving from the evaluation of undergraduates’ human capital due to university education. For this purpose, we introduce the definition of University Human Capital (UHC). UHC can be interpreted as a component of the “intellectual capital” that characterized the different kinds of enterprises. Its individual growth trajectories are to be established by means of two-level growth models.

The assessment of the employment potential of University graduates represents a direct evolution of the quality evaluation of Higher education system. The analysis consist of two parts: one in which a quantitative score is associated through Rash analysis to the companies’ interest with respect to four class of characteristics and competences they take into consideration when selecting candidates. In the second part, we apply a segmentation analysis to check whether there is correspondences between companies that prefer certain university degree and the interest levels towards the characteristics and competences so quantified.

The need to match formal academic education with the ‘know how’ required by the labour market gives birth to both co-operation between Universities and enterprises, and to ‘flexible’ academic curricula. Students can choose from a wide range of University degrees, and within each program can choose the applicative field/major and opt for a short work experience, the so called stage. The feedback from the University-enterprises interaction is clearly observed in graduates’ job opportunities, since they constitute the third pole in a triad of changing relationship. The case of the Faculty of Statistical Sciences at the University of Milano – Bicocca, in the academic years from 1998/99 to 2002/2003, allows one to identify patterns in undegraduates’ educational strategies and poses questions as to the relationship between academic knowledge, individual expectations and actual experiences at work.

La valutazione della qualità dei servizi è da tempo estesa alla formazione universitaria, sollevando diverse questioni di merito e di metodo. Fra queste, si impone il conseguimento di una misura quantitative del costrutto indagato, la qualità della didattica, che sia indipendente sia dall’osservatore sia dal campione di rispondenti. Nel caso della formazione a distanza, oramai diffusa in ambito accademico a livello nazionale ed internazionale, la stessa nozione di processo d’istruzione necessita di una riformulazione per l’assenza di una relazione diretta fra docenti e studenti, con un notevole sforzo nella predisposizione degli items. L’adozione della famiglia dei modelli di Rasch (RM, Rasch (1960)), in particolare di un modello Partial Credit Model (PCM, Masters (1982)), consente la trasformazione di punteggi di soddisfazione su scala Likert in misure quantitative e quindi confrontabili fra items e soggetti, mediante modello logistico (Simple Logistic Model, SLM).
