During the 2022 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college football season, eight of the 65 Power-5 head coaches were Black. The racial composition of assistant coaches, however, was nearly 50% Black and 50% White. While the head coach of a Power-5 football team serves as the leader of the program, the 10 assistant coaches permitted by the NCAA oversee a variety of critical roles; the most valuable of which is recruiting. This study extends previous work by examining the racial composition of Power-5 football coaching staffs and recruiting responsibilities through the lens of racial tasking. An analysis of Power-5 football recruiting classes from 2019 and 2020 illustrates that assistant coaches are tasked with recruiting prospective athletes racially similar to themselves 58% of the time. Furthermore, Black assistant coaches are disproportionately tasked with recruiting Black recruits and higher rated recruits (i.e., five- and four-star) compared to their White counterparts. We explore the media representation of the involvement of Fenerbahçe, a football club in Türkiye, in the 2011 Turkish Sports Corruption Scandal. Specifically, the study focuses on the discursive construction of Fenerbahçe's 'innocence' and 'corruption' through the central arguments of Fenerbahçe's self-defense and how the newsprint media represents these arguments of innocence in Türkiye. The data consist of the council board speech of the club's president after his release, the front-page headlines, and the news reports of Turkish daily newspapers featuring the speech. In the study, adopting the critical discourse analysis framework, we discuss that the newspapers either recontextualize the innocence arguments or set them aside to pursue their ideological stances. Besides, our analysis reveals that the newspapers ultimately ignore Fenerbahçe's arguments about the existence of a secret criminal organization endeavoring to gain control of Fenerbahçe via match-fixing claims and the state via a civil coup. The National Football League (NFL) sets its regular season schedule to optimize viewership andminimize competitive inequities.One inequity assumed to impact team performance is rest differential, defined as the relative number of days between games. Using Bayesian state space models on both game outcomes and betting market data, we estimate the competitive effect of rest differential in American football. We find that the most commonly referred to inequities--both the bye week rest advantage and the mini-bye week rest advantage--currently show no significant evidence of providing the rested team a competitive edge. Further, we trace a decline in the advantage of a bye week to a 2011 change to the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, which represents a natural experiment to test the relevance of rest and preparation in football. Prior to the agreement, NFL teams off a bye week received a significant advantage (+2.2 points per game), but since 2011, that benefit has been mitigated. Our findings imply that extra days with practice time, and not extra days off alone, are the primary driver of any NFL rest advantage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

American football is one of the most popular team sports in the United States. There are approximately 16,000 high school and 890 college football teams, and each team plays around 10–14 games per football season. Contrary to most casual fans' views, American football is more than speed and power, it requires preparation and strategies. Coaches analyze hours of video of their own and opponents' games to extract important information such as offensive play formations, personnel packages and opposing coaches' tendency to gain competitive advantages. This time-consuming and slow process called "tagging" takes away the coaches' time from other duties and limits the players' time for preparation and training. In this work, we created three datasets for our experiments to demonstrate the importance of player detection accuracy, which is easily affected by camera placement and player occlusion issues. We applied a unique data augmentation technique to generate data for each specific experiment. Our model achieved a remarkable 98.52% accuracy in play type recognition and 92.38% accuracy in player position recognition for the experiment that assumes no missing players or no occlusion problem, which could be achieved by placing the camera high above the football field. Football teams draw the largest crowds of any American collegiate sport, and with them, both positive and negative attention for colleges and universities. Nearly 50 colleges have added the sport recently, but little research has examined the institutional effects of adding a team. Some of these institutions are regional research universities adding the sport as part of broad plans to transform campus identities, while at smaller public and private institutions, adding a football team (with approximately 100 members) appears to be an attempt to boost racial diversity and the number of male students. This study uses difference-in-difference models to find that adding a football team appears to have a significant, but short-term, effect on enrollment and tuition revenue. The long-term effects of adding the sport do not appear to be statistically significant. This raises questions about the costs and benefits of adding football at a time when higher education faces significant challenges attracting students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The researchers wanted to highlight the goal of the research by designing and implementing a proposed device to develop the skill of the side throw for the Al-Qadisiyah University football team. The experimental method was used to avoid the research problem. The research sample consisted of (14) players from the advanced category, namely (AlQadisiyah University football team). Their pre-measurements were collected (height, weight, overhead throw-in test, arm strength test). A device for developing the side throw-in skill was prepared and implemented by the researcher. Given the absence of such a device for this skill, the main experiment and the post-test were conducted. And to verify the sample data to facilitate its statistical processing, the results of the pre- and post-arithmetic calculations for the experimental group were compared and processed statistically. After that, the most important conclusions were reached, which is that the device has a positive effect in increasing the research sample’s indicators of muscular strength and throw-in distance. Social media, like Twitter, allows users to express opinions, comment, and share information freely. It has become a primary platform for fans to show support but also a space where verbal aggression can occur, influencing fan behavior and attitudes. This study examines the impact of the Twitter account @idextratime and verbal aggression on the fanaticism of Manchester United fans. Using a quantitative research method, a survey was conducted. Data analysis included descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing (T-Test & F-Test).This research aims to determine how much influence each independent variable, namely social media and verbal aggression, has on the dependent variable, namely fanaticism, and how much influence the social media variable and verbal aggression simultaneously have on the fanaticism variable. Results showed significant influence, with social media and verbal aggression accounting for 88.4% of the variance in fanaticism. Domestic violence generates long-term effects on offenders, victims, and other household members. While coercive behavior explains some family violence, aggression can also be reactive, triggered by emotional stimulus. We extend research on this trigger using data from National Basketball Association (NBA) games. Our results show that unexpected NBA losses lead to increased in-home violence. The athlete's stamina supports sports performance, but stamina is supported by various things, one of which is the quality of the athlete's sleep during recovery. This study aims to determine the effect of sleep quality on football performance. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a correlational approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with several considerations, including football school students aged 13-15 years actively participating in football school activities and students are permitted to take part in research from a total population of 10 students consisting of 2 students aged 13 years, six students aged 14 years and two students aged 15 years. The research instruments are PSQI to determine sleep quality and GPAI to assess performance. Based on calculations and data analysis, an average PSQI score of 4.1 was obtained, and the average GPAI score for the criteria included SE 3.4, DM 3.1, and SP 3.6. Based on the correlation value calculation, it was found that there was a negative correlation with a moderate strength of -0.502 for PSQI and SE. In contrast, the correlation value between PSQI, DM, and SP had weak strength and was also harmful to SE at -0.305 but positive for SP, namely 0.255. Conclusion: The influence of sleep quality on football performance has a significant relationship, but the level of influence is at a medium or even low level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The existing paper aims to gauge the effect of aerobic training on the quality of agility of football players. The main objective of the paper was to articulate the effect of aerobic training on male football player's agility. Thirty players were chosen from two schools in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and were equally distributed into two groups same in number. Both groups had 15 players in controlled and experimental. The first group underwent aerobic training three times a week over eight weeks, while the second group, serving as the control, continued with their regular activities without any additional training.The control group was placed in one group and give aerobic exercise Three time a week for eight weeks. A shuttle run test was used to assess each participant's agility both before and after the training session. The male football player's agility was greaterly enhanced by aerobic exercise. It was also concluded that regular aerobic exercise can help male football players became more agile. It was suggested that aerobic exercise incorporating into training regimen may enhance the agility of the football players.
