In FERTIMANURE WP1 (FERTIMANURE framework), the animal manure value chain was evaluated by (i) analysing the current scenario in the on-farm experimental pilots, (ii) defining the current market situation of bio-based fertilizer products, and (iii) identifying the main barriers (i.e. politic, economic, social, environmental and legal). Task 1.4 (Regional nutrient imbalance analysis) aimed to review the literature of nutrient imbalances between regions in Europe to better predict where the nutrients recovered in FERTIMANURE can contribute in the long-term sustainability of production agriculture. Deliverable 1.4 (Report on the nutrient imbalances analysis, deadline M13) aims to understand if the need of nutrients for national agricultural production can be satisfied with only the recovery of nutrients derived from animal manure and other biomasses. Specifically, D1.4 reports the results of the nutrients imbalance analysis carried out in Task 1.4. The deliverable is structured as follows: • General introduction describing Task 1.4, the deliverable structure and the methodology used to perform the nutrients imbalances analysis; • Results analysis divided into chapters, one for each country; • Comparison of the results obtained with additional local data, when available; • Overall conclusions. This document contains under WP7 “Dissemination and Communication” the first part of Task 7.4 EIP Practice abstracts. The aim of the EIP practice abstract is to ensure uptake by farmers by outlining the benefits and practical recommendations arising from FERTIMANURE project. This Deliverable presents all the information requested in the common Excel template provided by the EIP AGRI (The agricultural European Innovation Partnership) to submit Practice Abstracts. The first four abstracts are included in this Deliverable, which is due to be submitted in Month 18. The topics selected for this first set are: (i) the objectives of the FERTIMANURE project, (ii) changes to the EU fertiliser regulation and how these will impact bio-based fertilisers, (iii) the activities of the FERTIMANURE on-farm pilots and (iv) the existing nutrient imbalances across Europe. The main aims of the H2020 project FERTIMANURE focus on the development of production methods as well as the scaling-up of the production and use of biobased fertilisers (BBFs) derived from livestock manure, which shall be tailored for specific crop needs that will prove competitive in today's market. The project description also touches aspects of the treatment of the raw material. However, such raw material and most of the semi-processed products are neither with their product characteristics nor legally comparable to defined mineral fertilisers. This document looks at both the current and the impending regulation in order to provide a full picture on how the EU regulates certain fertiliser products. This document will pay special attention to the legislation that is relevant for processed biobased materials derived from manure in order to be used with the same rights and obligations that apply for mineral fertilisers. The relevant sections of Regulation (EC) 2019/1009 (also referred to as Fertiliser Products Regulation - FPR) have been summarised to provide an overview of the regulation. There are many similarities between the two regulations that will be highlighted in this document as well as the differences. There was a clear need for a drastic update to the regulation surrounding fertiliser products and in order to avoid such a gap in the regulation in future; it is likely that Regulation (EC) 2019/1009 will be adapted further and added to as the production of fertilisers further progresses. Specific legislation framework regarding CELAC countries has been developed specially for Argentina and Chile as participants in FERTIMANURE. Finally, this document provides a comparative analysis of the environmental legislation of the Argentine Republic and the EU and Chile and the EU, including the background of both and the Latin American regional blocks to which Argentina is a member (Mercosur), and others to which it is not a member, but which are considered for the comprehensive analysis (CAN). The work developed in this task is part of the WP1. FERTIMANURE framework, in particular of Task 1.5 Capitalization of relevant projects results developed by LEITAT, whose aim is to identify on-going and finished projects related with manure in the field of nutrient recycling, manure management, bio-based fertilizers and dissemination. The task aims to ensure maximisation of synergies between FERTIMANURE tasks and other related project activities and also elimination of all possible cases of overlaps. For that purpose, the approach is to become permanently aligned with all FERTIMANURE work packages and create an interactive and living tool, in order to make the accumulated experience usable during the project execution, linking with other related project outputs, skills and expertise. For the first thirteen months of the project, LEITAT created a database to compile all the projects related with FERTIMANURE framework. This database was filled in within partners contributions, European Sustainable Phosphorous Platform (ESPP) database(https://phosphorusplatform.eu) and Biorefine Cluster Europe (www.biorefine.eu/) with a total database of 163 projects. Information about running and finished projects was obtained including: name, acronym, website, summary (relevant information for FERTIMANURE), end date, partner coordinator, contact person, type of funding, current status, type of project (national, European or international). This information will be published at the FERTIMANURE website (www.fertimanure.eu) and can be used by stakeholders and general public. Each project was categorized by thematic area and the main objectives within the following categories: Organic wastes, Technology, End-products, Dissemination, Crop systems and Management. These categories were used to create a word cloud which includes the relevant information for FERTIMANURE of all the projects categorized. Moreover, data analysis was developed in order to obtain relevant results about the information compiled like diversity of projects or budget. Finally, LEITAT together with all FERTIMANURE partners selected the 5 most relevant projects in order to arrange a meeting with the coordinator. These meetings will have the objective of taking advantage of all the previous work done in the field of nutrient recycling and manure management, fertilization using BBFs or dissemination. The objectives of this work is basically to identify: • which are the challenges that have been identified in order to learn from them and avoid similar problems in FERTIMANURE, • the most relevant results in order to avoid overlaps and take advantage of the results specially addressed by FERTIMANURE and go beyond • in the on-going projects, identify potential synergies with FERTIMANURE and to monitor the projects results. The FERTIMANURE project’s main objective is to develop, integrate, test and validate innovative nutrient management strategies to efficiently recover mineral nutrients and other relevant products with agronomic value from animal manure, to finally obtain reliable and safe fertilisers that can compete in the European fertilisers market. The aim of this document, the Dissemination and Communication Plan, is to set up the objectives and the strategies that will be taken into account as to manage the communication and dissemination activities during the lifetime of the project. During the project’s lifetime there can be some changes regarding the interest of the potential stakeholders, which will bring as a result a close review and a regular update of this Plan, in months 24, 36, and 48. The procedures and objectives below will be continuously evaluated to achieve the maximum impact, so this initial Plan may undergo some changes during the project. The document makes a clear distinction between the Communication and the Dissemination activities taking into account the different audiences/stakeholders that will be addressed as to send the right message to the relevant audience. The Preliminary Plan for the Exploitation and Dissemination of Results (PEDR) is a strategic document for setting the impact pathway of FERTIMANURE since the project beginning. The main objective of FERTIMANURE project is to develop, integrate, test and validate innovative Nutrient Management Strategies to efficiently recover mineral nutrients and other relevant products with agronomic value (organic amendments and biostimulants) from animal manure, to finally obtain reliable and safe fertilisers that can compete in the European fertilizers market. FERTIMANURE project will demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the obtained BBFs and TMFs and their ability to replace current mineral fertilisers, including: (i) Tests under controlled conditions (incubation and pot-tests): Assessment of: (1) N release patterns; (2) P plant availability; (3) Biological activated organic amendments as plant growth promoters; (4) Biostimulants assessment as plant growth promoters for the nutrient uptake and tolerance against hydric & saline stress. Crops under assessment: Wheat, barley, maize, fodder maize, grass, ray grass. (ii) Field validation in real environment: Agronomic performance in quadruplicate-randomized block design; Environmental performance, including nutrient efficiency vs losses. Crops under assessment: Wheat, barley, maize, grass, corn, spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, vines. FERTIMANURE project specifically provides 3 innovative nutrient management strategies: 1) Direct use of the BBFs obtained by treating manure with innovative technologies; 2) Centralised TMFs production and 3) On-farm TMFs production. This document is the first version (M6) of the Plan for Exploitation and Dissemination of Results (PEDR) of FERRTIMANURE project. The contents of the first release include an overview of the concepts of Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation relative strategies and action plans that the consortium will follow to promote the project, to foster the knowledge of its results and to ensure their uptake for future business opportunities. The Data Management Plan (DMP) sets out the procedures and plans for handling data generated through the FERTIMANURE project, and is intended to be a manual for guiding and facilitating general data management and data storage needs for FERTIMANURE consortium members. This document also aims to clarify the obligations that beneficiaries have in terms of data standards, storage and protection, during the project and beyond with the objective of facilitating the exploitation of the results. It is intended to be a continuously evolving document, and hence can be adapted as the project progresses. This adaption will allow for any developments that have not been foreseen at the project start, and will be facilitated through review by the consortium members via the consortium meetings (Project Management Board). The expectation is that the project will produce 5 types of data, which include: 1) Documents generated for project analyses or deliverables 2) Schematics and P&IDs of the different FERTIMANURE on-farm pilots 3) Experimental, including: a. Data collected on pilot operation and processes b. Data on the properties and quality of products obtained from the pilot plants c. Experimental data collected in the agronomic trials 4) Data collected for undertaking the LCA and sustainability analyses 5) Software tools Due to the particular nature of these data types, the way each are generated, and the limitations for sharing and publication of each, the following sections outline the ways these data will be gathered, maintained, shared, and published. The main objective of the FERTIMANURE website, www.fertimanure.eu, is to act as the main communication and dissemination platform for the project. Its main objective is to increase the project’s awareness and to keep all the stakeholders up to date with the advancements and progress of the project through different publications that will be posted and displayed in the website. The website will be monitored continuously as well as content will be added in a regular basis to make sure that it is really the main channel used to communicate with the different audiences involved in the project. Through the website, which is the most important communication channel, we will build a brand that will be recognized by the different stakeholders and that will be used as well in the other communication materials like the video, the leaflets, the logo, the poster. This brand will represent FERTIMANURE in all the communication channels, from which the website will be the most important. The aim of this document is to briefly explain the strategy behind the creation of website, the way it was designed and the different sections that will be an integral part of it. The FERTIMANURE project includes 20 partners from 7 EU countries, Argentina and Chile. EU countries participating in the project include France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Croatia (Figure 1). CELAC region is represented by Argentina. The project consortium is geographically well distributed across the Member States of the EU-27 with an intention to cover diverse range of agricultural and nutrient management practices and includes stakeholders with different knowledge background and fertiliser needs. CELAC region is represented by the largest CELAC member state – Argentina. The main objective of FERTIMANURE is to develop, integrate, test, and validate innovative nutrient management strategies to efficiently recover mineral nutrients and other relevant products with agronomic value (organic amendments and biostimulants) from animal manure, to finally obtain reliable and safe fertilisers that can compete in the European fertilisers market. This study was carried out as part of the European demonstration project FERTIMANURE funded by the H2020 Programme (project number 862849) titled Innovative nutrient recovery from secondary sources – Production of high-added value FERTIlisers from animal MANURE. The work carried out for this deliverable is part of FERTIMANURE work package 1 (WP1), of FERTIMANURE framework. This deliverable is based on the activities of Task 1.1 Flow assessment, logistics and characterisation of animal manure and by-products. This task and deliverable, led by LEITAT, has the main objective of identifying and quantifying current manure production in the participating European Union (EU) countries and regions. Firstly, an overview of manure nutrient production for the whole of Europe is addressed. This is partly based on the thorough work of the Nutri2Cycle project (H2020). The FERTIMANURE project takes advantage of this valuable resource as the starting point for a more detailed analysis at the level of the participating regions, which is the special added value the present deliverable 1.1. The following sections provide detailed information about the amounts and nutrient flows of manure resources in the EU regions considered in FERTIMANURE. These sections compile data from EU countries where FERTIMANURE has pilot plants, formatted in a standardized format for unification and processing in order to have a complete vision of manure generation and management costs. On the one hand, this has involved providing data on livestock densities in each region and the amounts of nutrients generated by the sector in each regional case. This first activity has the objective of quantifying and detecting the flows of manure resources in the project regions where livestock farming intensification is generating large amounts of manure. This is accompanied by informative maps of the animal densities and nutrient densities within each region. Next, detailed information is given about the chemical composition of the considered livestock manures (cow, pig, and chicken). This is data provided by each partner, and helps characterize the differences between EU regions and the particularities of manure management in this regard. Finally, data on current manure treatments and transport costs was compiled. This information can be used to contrast treatment options with transport out of nutrient hot spots and the costs of operation and business models considered in the project. Due to the inclusion of CELAC partners, information from Argentina has been collected and reported in Annex II, so that the information may be exploited in the CELAC region. H2020 (Grant no. 862849)

The main objective of the communication and dissemination material is to showcase the project in every event, conference, webinar, etc. that any of the FERTIMANURE partners will be attending throughout the duration of the project. For the first six months of the project, GreenWin decided to create a leaflet, a poster template and a roll-up template. GreenWin also created a press release in M5 of the project and an e-newsletter that will be sent on the first week of July. All of the communication and dissemination material was created taking into account the Work Package Leaders (WPL) feedback to make sure that the most relevant aspects of the project were taken into account.
