Sodern is the French focal plane provider for Earth Observation (EO) satellites. Since the 1980’s, Sodern has played an active role first in the SPOT program. Within the two-spacecraft constellation Pleiades 1A/1B over the next years, Sodern introduced advanced technologies as Silicon Carbide (SiC) focal plane structure and multispectral strip filters dedicated to multiple-lines detectors.

The impact of the formation of an electrolyte based decomposition layer on the distribution of the active grain kinetics has been investigated operando within a cycling electrode for lithium battery. It is demonstrated, from fitting procedure of the electrochemical responses and from operando XRD experiments, that as the passive film forms, slow reacting grains appear within the working electrode and operate simultaneously with faster grains. Slow grains are macroscopically distributed, presumably at the electrolyte side of the electrode. Discrimination of the electrochemical response pertaining to each type of grains allows rationalizing their contribution to the capacity fading dynamics.

WOS: 000300864200005, The Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) is a European project to develop and operate the next generation gamma-ray spectrometer. AGATA is based on the technique of gamma-ray energy tracking in electrically segmented high-purity germanium crystals. This technique requires the accurate determination of the energy, time and position of every interaction as a gamma ray deposits its energy within the detector volume. Reconstruction of the full interaction path results in a detector with very high efficiency and excellent spectral response. The realisation of gamma-ray tracking and AGATA is a result of many technical advances. These include the development of encapsulated highly segmented germanium detectors assembled in a triple cluster detector cryostat, an electronics system with fast digital sampling and a data acquisition system to process the data at a high rate. The full characterisation of the crystals was measured and compared with detector-response simulations. This enabled pulse-shape analysis algorithms, to extract energy, time and position, to be employed. In addition, tracking algorithms for event reconstruction were developed. The first phase of AGATA is now complete and operational in its first physics campaign. In the future AGATA will be moved between laboratories in Europe and operated in a series of campaigns to take advantage of the different beams and facilities available to maximise its science output. The paper reviews all the achievements made in the AGATA project including all the necessary infrastructure to operate and support the spectrometer. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. - Abstract
We experimentally investigate the growth dynamics of cavities nucleating during the first stages of debonding of three different model adhesives. The material properties of these adhesives range from a more liquid-like material to a soft viscoelastic solid and are carefully characterized by small strain oscillatory shear rheology as well as large strain uniaxial extension. The debonding experiments are performed on a probe tack set-up. Using high contrast images of the debonding process and precise image analysis tools, we quantify the total projected area of the cavities, the average cavity shape and growth rate and link these observations to the material properties. These measurements are then used to access corrected effective stress and strain curves that can be directly compared to the results from the uniaxial extension.

- Abstract
We report herein the discovery of antileishmanial molecules based on the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine ring. In vitro screenings of imidazopyridines belonging to our chemical library, toward the promastigotes stage of Leishmania donovani, J774A.1 murine and HepG2 human cells, permitted to identify three selective hit-compounds (12, 20 and 28). New derivatives were then synthesized to allow structure-activity and -toxicity relationships analyses, enabling to characterize a lead-compound (44) displaying both a high potency (IC50=1.8 μM) and a good selectivity index, in comparison with three antileishmanial reference drug-compounds (amphotericin B, miltefosine and pentamidine). Moreover, lead-compound 44 also exhibits good in vitro activity against the intracellular amastigote stage of L. donovani. Thus, the 6-halo-3-nitro-2-(phenylsulfonylmethyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine scaffold appears as a new promising selective antileishmanial pharmacophore, especially when substituted at position 8 by a bromine atom., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Ltd. - Abstract
From 1980 to 1984, we observed 144 undifferentiated cancers, of which 116 (0.9% of all cancers treated during this period) were treated in our center. Immunohistochemical study classified 130 tumors (90%), which comprised 82 non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (57%), 32 carcinomas (22%), 7 melanomas (5%), 7 sarcomas (5%) and 2 others (1%). Sixty-nine patients, with the diagnostic problem of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma versus carcinoma, which was solved by immunohistology, were followed up for 44 +/- 20 months. Lymphomas (57 cases) had a better clinical course than carcinomas (11 cases), and a clinical course similar to high-grade lymphomas identified by conventional histology. For 66 patients with the same problem, the treatment was started before the immunohistochemical diagnosis. This treatment was inappropriate in the light of the correct diagnosis in 16 of 66 cases (24% of all cases).
