Using GKO construction, we conjecture a formula for the characters of highest weight irreducible representations of the algebra of conformal models having S3 symmetry with spin 4/3 parafermionic currents constructed by Fateev and Zamolodchikov. The modular transformations of these characters are given and modular invariant partition functions are classified. It turns out that an A-D-E classification similar to that found in conformal and N=1 superconformal theories holds. For the particular case of the tricritical 3-state Potts model the connection with Virasoro characters is given.

The fact that in any rational conformal field theory (RCFT) four-point function on the sphere must satisfy an ordinary differential equation gives a simple condition on the conformal dimensions of primary fields. We discuss how this can help in the classification program of RCFT. As an example all associative fusion rules with less than four non-trivial primary fields and Nijk ⩽ 1 are discussed. Another application to the classification of chiral algebras is briefly mentioned.

We investigate boundary bound states of sine-Gordon model on the finite-size strip with Dirichlet boundary conditions. For the purpose we derive the nonlinear integral equation (NLIE) for the boundary excited states from the Bethe ansatz equation of the inhomogeneous XXZ spin 1/2 chain with boundary imaginary roots discovered by Saleur and Skorik. Taking a large volume (IR) limit we calculate boundary energies, boundary reflection factors and boundary Luscher corrections and compare with the excited boundary states of the Dirichlet sine-Gordon model first considered by Dorey and Mattsson. We study analytically the corrections to the leading terms in the Renyi entropy of a massive lattice theory, showing significant deviations from naive expectations. In particular, we show that finite size and finite mass effects give rise to different contributions (with different exponents) and thus violate a simple scaling argument. In the specific, we look at the entanglement entropy of a bipartite XYZ spin-1/2 chain in its ground state. When the system is divided into two semi-infinite half-chains, we have an analytical expression of the Renyi entropy as a function of a single mass parameter. In the scaling limit, we show that the entropy as a function of the correlation length formally coincides with that of a bulk Ising model. This should be compared with the fact that, at criticality, the model is described by a c=1 Conformal Field Theory and the corrections to the entropy due to finite size effects show exponents depending on the compactification radius of the theory. We will argue that there is no contradiction between these statements. If the lattice spacing is retained finite, the relation between the mass parameter and the correlation length generates new subleading terms in the entropy, whose form is path-dependent in phase-space and whose interpretation within a field theory is not available yet. We obtain the exact expression for the Von Neumann entropy for an infinite bipartition of the XYZ model, by connecting its reduced density matrix to the corner transfer matrix of the eight vertex model. Then we consider the anisotropic scaling limit of the XYZ chain that yields the 1+1 dimensional sine-Gordon model. The generalized (1+1)-D non-linear Schrodinger (NLS) theory with particular integrable boundary conditions is considered. More precisely, two distinct types of boundary conditions, known as soliton preserving (SP) and soliton non-preserving (SNP), are implemented into the classical $gl_N$ NLS model. Based on this choice of boundaries the relevant conserved quantities are computed and the corresponding equations of motion are derived. A suitable quantum lattice version of the boundary generalized NLS model is also investigated. We present the coupled nonlinear integral equations (NLIE) governing the finite size effects in N=1 super sine-Gordon model for the vacuum as well as for the excited states. Their infrared limit correctly yields the scattering data of the super sine-Gordon S-matrix conjectured by Ahn. Ultraviolet analysis is in agreement with the expected conformal data of c=3/2 CFT. Addendum to the paper J. Phys. A36 (2003) 1391-1401: A Bethe Ansatz solution of the open spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms has recently been proposed. Using a numerical procedure developed by McCoy et al, we find significant evidence that this solution can yield the complete set of eigenvalues for generic values of the bulk and boundary parameters satisfying one linear relation. Moreover, our results suggest that this solution is practical for investigating the ground state of this model in the thermodynamic limit.

By considering the continuum scaling limit of the $A_{4}$ RSOS lattice model of Andrews-Baxter-Forrester with integrable boundaries, we derive excited state TBA equations describing the boundary flows of the tricritical Ising model. Fixing the bulk weights to their critical values, the integrable boundary weights admit a parameter $\xi $ which plays the role of the perturbing boundary field $\phi_{1,3}$ and induces the renormalization group flow between boundary fixed points. The boundary TBA equations determining the RG flows are derived in the $\mathcal{B}_{(1,2)}\to \mathcal{B}_{(2,1)}$ example. In this letter we show that the R\'enyi entanglement entropy of a region of large size $\ell$ in a one-dimensional critical model whose ground state breaks conformal invariance (such as in those described by non-unitary conformal field theories), behaves as $S_n \sim \frac{c_{\mathrm{eff}}(n+1)}{6n} \log \ell$, where $c_{\mathrm{eff}}=c-24\Delta>0$ is the effective central charge, $c$ (which may be negative) is the central charge of the conformal field theory and $\Delta\neq 0$ is the lowest holomorphic conformal dimension in the theory. We also obtain results for models with boundaries, and with a large but finite correlation length, and we show that if the lowest conformal eigenspace is logarithmic ($L_0 = \Delta I + N$ with $N$ nilpotent), then there is an additional term proportional to $\log(\log \ell)$. These results generalize the well known expressions for unitary models. We provide a general proof, and report on numerical evidence for a non-unitary spin chain and an analytical computation using the corner transfer matrix method for a non-unitary lattice model. We use a new algebraic technique for studying the branching that arises within the replica approach, and find a new expression for the entanglement entropy in terms of correlation functions of twist fields for non-unitary models., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures.
