Determination of the Harvest Period of Eight Varieties of Sweet Potatoes (Ipomoea batatas L Convolvulaceae) in Bouaké in Central Côte d'Ivoire In order to determine a period during which the best crop is obtained with quality tuberous roots, a yield assessment over four harvest periods of sweet potato was conducted at the Station de Recherche sur les Cultures Vivrières of the Centre National de Recherche Agronomique in Bouaké. The study focused on eight improved sweet potato varieties using a split plot system with varieties as the main factor and harvest period as a secondary factor. Most of the parameters measured ( disease incidence, severity, number of roots per plant – number of small roots and number of tall roots -) are significantly influenced by the variety with the exception of the yield and attacks of weevil and rodents which are linked to the harvest period. The harvest at four (4) months after planting gave the best yield (12.64 t/ha) and the tuberous roots least attacked by pests (weevils incidence: 11.16%; rodents incidence: 1.40%). CIP-199062-1, Vita and Irene were the best performing varieties (15.3 t/ha; 12.6 t/ha and 11.9 t/ha respectively).
