This study aimed to investigate agreement and discrepancies between parent proxy- and adolescent self-reports on assessments of adolescents' health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and the role that individual factors may play in parent-adolescent agreement, in a sample of adolescents with Tourette syndrome (TS) compared to a control group of healthy adolescents. Adolescents aged 12-18 years diagnosed with TS were recruited with their parents from primary and secondary referral centres. Adolescent healthy controls were matched for gender and age. Adolescents and each of their parents completed a set of questionnaires including a HRQoL evaluation of adolescent, the 'Vécu et Santé Perçue de l'Adolescent'. Mother-adolescent, father-adolescent and mother-father agreements on adolescents' HRQoL scores were investigated at individual and group level, both in TS and control groups. Data were available for 75 adolescents, 75 mothers and 63 fathers, in the TS group. Agreement between mother, father proxy-reports and TS adolescents self-reports of HRQoL varied from poor to good, without significant difference with the control group. In TS group, mothers and fathers underestimated adolescents' HRQoL in 'Psychological well-being' subscale and mothers underestimated it in 'Physical 'well-being' subscale, while controls overestimated adolescents' HRQoL in these subscales. Larger mother-adolescent discrepancies for 'Psychological well-being' and 'Physical well-being' subscales were associated with internalizing symptoms. Regarding future studies, comprehensive evaluation of the various dimensions of adolescents' HRQoL with TS requires the integration of the perspectives of both adolescents, mothers and fathers. Up to 30% of subjects with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) also have a lifetime tic disorder. Several meta-analyses of pharmaceutical or psychotherapeutic interventions for the management of OCD have been published, but none specifically on patients with OCD comorbid with tics. The literature regarding pharmacological treatments of patients with this condition is mainly focused on studies of OCD. After a search of the Cochrane, EMBASE, PubMed, PsychINFO and Science Direct databases, we performed a proportion meta-analysis of the percentage of patients whose condition improved and a paired meta-analysis of the change in the OCD score (Y-BOCS). Twelve case reports were retained for qualitative analysis and 14 articles for meta-analysis. Case reports showed better efficacy of combined antidepressant-antipsychotic treatment for OCD comorbid with tic disorder. The meta-analysis showed an improvement in 29% [18-42] of patients with antidepressants. Although there was no significant difference with placebo add-on, in antidepressant-resistant OCD patients, adding an antipsychotic to the antidepressant regimen led to an increase in the number of patients who improved (67% [45-86] vs 7% [0-35]) and seemed to show a decrease in the Y-BOCS score (-10.06 [-20.38; 0.26] vs (-3.61 [-9.08; 13.85]). Our study provides new evidence on the pharmacological treatment of OCD comorbid with tics. In some patients, the condition is improved by a first-line antidepressant. Background: The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly apparent. The gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis (CRC), as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli (CoPEC)., Aim: To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety- and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical approaches., Methods: Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric interview. Results were compared according to the CoPEC colonization. In parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC strain. Their behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test, the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper ® ., Results: In a limited cohort, all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis, whereas only one patient (17%) without CoPEC did. This result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wild-type mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model (adenomatous polyposis coli multiple intestinal neoplasia/+ ). In photodynamic therapy (PDT), light-sensitive photosensitizers produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) after irradiation in the presence of oxygen. Atomically-precise thiolate-protected gold nanoclusters are molecule-like nanostructures with discrete energy levels presenting long lifetimes, surface biofunctionality, and strong near-infrared excitation ideal for ROS generation in PDT. We directly compare thiolate-gold macromolecular complexes (Au 10 ) and atomically-precise gold nanoclusters (Au 25 ), and investigate the influence of ligands on their photoexcitation. With the ability of atomically-precise nanochemistry, we produce Au 10 SG 10 , Au 10 AcCys 10 , Au 25 SG 18 , and Au 25 AcCys 18 (SG: glutathione; AcCys: N-acetyl-cysteine) fully characterized by high-resolution mass spectrometry. Our theoretical investigation reveals key factors (energetics of excited states and structural influence of surface ligands) and their relative importance in singlet oxygen formation upon one- and two-photon excitation. Finally, we explore ROS generation by gold nanoclusters in living cells with one- and two-photon excitation. Background: Skin-restricted lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with high rates of depression and anxiety disorders. Patients without psychiatric disorders can experience anxiety and depressive symptoms at a subclinical level, which could be risk factors for progression towards psychiatric disorders. It was decided, therefore, to investigate the presence of specific symptoms in skin-restricted lupus patients without axis I psychiatric disorders and their impact on the occurrence of axis I psychiatric disorders during the study follow-up., Methods: Longitudinal data of 38 patients and 76 matched controls without active axis I psychiatric disorders from the LuPsy cohort were used. Depressive, neurovegetative, psychic and somatic anxiety symptom scores were established from the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating scale (HAMA)., Results: None of the participants had any current active axis I psychiatric disorders but the patients had personality disorders more frequently and had received more past psychotropic treatments than the controls. They also had higher MADRS and HAMA scores than the controls, in particular neurovegetative, psychic anxiety and somatic symptoms scores. No dermatological factor tested was associated with these scores, whereas being a lupus patient was associated with higher neurovegetative and somatic symptoms scores, having a current personality disorder with higher depressive and neurovegetative scores and receiving more past psychotropic treatments with psychic anxiety and somatic symptoms scores. The occurrence of psychiatric disorders during the study follow-up was associated with an elevated psychic anxiety score at baseline and past psychotropic treatment but not with history of psychiatric disorder., Limitations: The LuPsy cohort included a large number of patients with axis I psychiatric disorders, the sample without axis I psychiatric disorders is therefore limited., Conclusions: We observed numerous psychiatric symptoms among the skin-restricted lupus patients. Importance: Two recent meta-analyses reported a high prevalence of both anxiety and depression in patients with alopecia areata (AA), as well as a positive association of AA with anxiety and depression, without distinguishing between disorders and symptoms. Yet, depression and anxiety can manifest either as symptoms identified in questionnaires or as specific diagnoses defined by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Fifth Edition) or International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision criteria., Objective: To perform a large meta-analysis separating the prevalence of depressive and anxiety disorders from that of depressive and anxiety symptoms in patients with AA., Data Sources: PubMed, ScienceDirect, the Cochrane Library, Embase, and PsycINFO databases were searched from inception through August 1, 2020., Study Selection: Studies that contained data on the prevalence of depressive or anxiety disorders or symptoms were included., Data Extraction and Synthesis: The Meta-analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) reporting guidelines were used. Pooled prevalence was calculated with a random effects model meta-analysis that took into account between- and within-study variability. Meta-regressions were used to study the association between variations in prevalence and study characteristics., Main Outcomes and Measures: The prevalence of depressive and anxiety disorders and symptoms in patients with AA., Results: Thirty-seven articles (29 on depression and 26 on anxiety) that met the inclusion criteria were identified. By distinguishing between disorders and symptoms, the prevalence of both depressive disorders (9%) and unspecified anxiety disorders (13%) in patients with AA was shown to be greater than that in the general population. The prevalence and odds ratio (OR) of depressive disorders (prevalence, 9%; OR, 1.38) and anxiety disorders of which each category had been specifically studied (prevalence, 7%-17%; OR, 1.51-1.69) were markedly lower than that of depressive symptoms (prevalence, 37%; OR, 2.70) and anxiety symptoms (prevalence, 34%; OR, 3.07). Meta-regressions showed that variations in prevalence were mainly associated with methodological differences between studies., Conclusions and Relevance: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the separate analyses showed that 7% to 17% of patients with AA had depressive or anxiety disorders that require psychiatric care, including specific medication. Additionally, more than one-third of patients had symptoms that are warning signs and that need monitoring because they can develop into disorders.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to create a new version of the French GTS-QOL adapted to adolescents with GTS aged 12-16 years (GTS-QOL-French-Ado) and to evaluate its psychometric properties., Methods: We assessed the psychometric properties of the GTS-QOL-French-Ado in 84 adolescents (mean age 13.6 years, standard deviation 1.2) in terms of factor structure, internal consistency, reliability and convergent validity with the Child Depression Inventory (CDI), the Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC), the Motor tic, Obsessions and compulsions, Vocal tic Evaluation Survey (MOVES) and the French "Vécu et Santé Perçue de l'Adolescent" (VSP-A), a generic self-administered measure of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adolescents., Results: Exploratory factor analysis of the GTS-QOL-French-Ado resulted in a 5-factor solution. The GTS-QOL-French-Ado demonstrated good acceptability with missing values per subscale ranging from 0% to 1.2%, good internal consistency for four of the five subscales with Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.56 to 0.87 and good test-retest reliability with intraclass correlation coefficients ranging from 0.74 (95% CI: 0.52-0.86) to 0.82 (95% CI: 0.66-0.91). Convergent validity was supported by correlations with CDI, MASC, MOVES, VSP-A and clinical variables., Discussion: The GTS-QOL-French-Ado is the first disease-specific HRQoL tool for French-speaking adolescents with GTS aged 12-16 years, and shows good psychometric properties. The magnitude of the association between psoriasis and depression has been evaluated, but not that between psoriasis and anxiety. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the prevalence and odds of anxiety disorders and symptoms in patients with psoriasis. Five medical databases (Cochrane Database, EMBASE, PubMed, PsychINFO, ScienceDirect) were searched for relevant literature. A total of 101 eligible articles were identified. Meta-analysis revealed different prevalence rates depending on the type of anxiety disorder: 15% [95% confidence interval [CI] 9-21] for social anxiety disorder, 11% [9-14] for generalized anxiety disorder, and 9% [95% CI 8-10] for unspecified anxiety disorder. There were insufficient studies assessing other anxiety disorders to be able to draw any conclusions on their true prevalence. Meta-analysis also showed a high prevalence of anxiety symptoms (34% [95% CI 32-37]). Case-control studies showed a positive association between psoriasis and unspecified anxiety disorder (odds ratio 1.48 [1.18; 1.85]) and between psoriasis and anxiety symptoms (odds ratio 2.51 [2.02; 3.12]). All meta-analyses revealed an important heterogeneity, which could be explained in each case by methodological factors. The results of this study raise the necessity of screening for the presence of anxiety disorders, as previously recommended for depressive disorders, in patients with psoriasis and, if necessary, to refer such patients for evaluation by a mental health professional and appropriate treatment.

Background: Executive deficits are a core characteristic of schizophrenia. Yet, the origin of these impairments remains unclear as they may be caused by processing slowing. This issue is of particular interest for aging insofar as cognitive aging is also associated with a decline in executive functioning and a slowing of processing speed. As schizophrenia patients' life expectancy increases, a better understanding of the origin of older patients' cognitive deficits becomes essential so that healthcare can be adapted to suit them. This study aims to determine whether processing speed mediates how schizophrenia affects executive functions and whether these relationships are moderated by age., Methods: Sixty-two schizophrenia patients (27 women) and 62 healthy comparison subjects matched for age (range: 18-76 years), gender and education performed neurocognitive tests to evaluate their executive functions (shifting, updating, inhibition and access) and processing speed., Results: Processing speed mediated the effect of schizophrenia on the four specific executive functions, and age moderated this mediation for shifting, updating and access, but in different ways. Age moderated the effect of processing speed on shifting, the direct effect of schizophrenia on access, and both the effect of processing speed and the direct effect of schizophrenia on updating., Conclusions: This research highlights the need to evaluate processing speed routinely during therapeutic follow-up, as it is easy and simple to assess and appears to be at the heart of the cognitive deficits in schizophrenia. Finally, processing speed abilities yield information about the evolution of cognition with aging in schizophrenia.

Background: Major depressive disorder with psychotic features (MDDPsy), compared to nonpsychotic MDD, involves an increased risk of suicide and failure to achieve treatment response. Symptom scales can be useful to assess patients with MDDPsy. The aim of the present study was to validate French versions of the Delusion Assessment Scale (DAS) and Psychotic Depression Assessment Scale (PDAS)., Methods: One hundred patients were included. The scales were filled out by psychiatrists. Data from participants who accepted a second interview were used for inter-judge reliability. The scalability and psychometric properties of both scales were assessed., Results: Data from 94 patients were used. Owing to low score variability between patients, the predefined threshold for scalability (≥0.40) was not reached for both scales. Factorial analysis of the DAS identified five factors, different from those of the original version. Five factors were also identified in the PDAS, of which two comprised items from the HDRS and the other three items from the BPRS. Floor and ceiling effects were observed in both scales, due in part to the construction of certain subscales. Unlike the PDAS, the DAS had good internal consistency. Multiple correlations were observed between the DAS dimensions but none between those of the PDAS. Both scales showed good inter-judge reliability. Convergent validity analyses showed correlations with HDRS, BPRS and CGI., Limitations: Inter-judge reliability was calculated from a relatively small number of volunteers., Conclusions: The good psychometric properties of the French versions of the DAS and PDAS could help in assessing MDDPsy, in particular its psychotic features, and hence improve response to treatment and prognosis., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.

Introduction: The Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome-Quality of Life Scale (GTS-QOL) is a self-rated disease-specific questionnaire to assess health-related quality of life of subjects with GTS. Our aim was to perform the cross-cultural adaptation of the GTS-QOL into French and to assess its psychometric properties., Methods: The GTS-QOL was cross-culturally adapted by conducting forward and backward translations, following international guidelines. The psychometric properties of the GTS-QOL-French were assessed in 109 participants aged 16 years and above with regard to factor structure, internal consistency, reliability and convergent validity with the MOVES (Motor tic, Obsessions and compulsions, Vocal tic Evaluation Survey) and the WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief)., Results: Exploratory factor analysis of the GTS-QOL-French resulted in a 6-factor solution and did not replicate the original structure in four subscales. The results showed good acceptability (missing values per subscale ranging from 0% to 0.9%), good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.68 to 0.94) and good test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficients ranging from 0.70 to 0.81). Convergent validity with the MOVES and WHOQOL-BREF scales showed high correlations., Discussion: Our study provides evidence of the good psychometric properties of the GTS-QOL-French. The cross-cultural adaptation and validation of this specific instrument will make it possible to assess health-related quality of life in French-speaking subjects with GTS. The association between certain chronic inflammatory skin diseases and psychiatric disorders or conditions has been well documented. However, the exact magnitude of the association between lichen planus and depression/anxiety symptoms and disorders is un-known. A systematic review and pooled meta-analyses were performed to examine the prevalence and odds of depression and anxiety in patients with lichen planus. The meta-analyses showed a high prevalence of signs of depression (27% [19-36%]) and anxiety (28% [21-36%]). The geographical location of the study may partly explain these vari-ations, but method-ological differences could also be involved. Case-control studies showed a strong association between lichen planus and signs of depression (odds ratio 3.79, 95% confidence interval [2.35; 6.12]) or anxiety (odds ratio 2.54, 95% confidence interval [1.73; 3.72]). These results raise the necessity of screening for the presence of depressive and anxiety symptoms or disorders in patients with lichen planus, and of referring such patients for psychiatric evaluation and appropriate treatment, if necessary.

Cognitive memory and introspection disturbances are considered core features of schizophrenia. Moreover, it remains unclear whether or not participants with schizophrenia are more cognitively impaired with ageing than healthy participants. The aims of this study were to use a metacognitive approach to determine whether elderly participants with schizophrenia are able to improve their memory performance using a specific generation strategy and to evaluate the memory benefits for them using this strategy. 20 younger and 20 older participants with schizophrenia and their comparison participants matched for age, gender and education learned paired associates words with either reading or generation, rated judgment of learning (JOL) and performed cued recall. Participants with schizophrenia recalled fewer words than healthy comparison participants, but they benefited more from generation, and this difference was stable with ageing. Their JOL magnitude was lower than that of healthy comparison participants, but JOL accuracy was not affected by either age or the pathology. In spite of their memory deficit, elderly and younger participants with schizophrenia benefited remarkably from the memory generation strategy. This result gives some cause for optimism as to the possibility for participants with schizophrenia to reduce memory impairment if learning conditions lead them to encode deeply., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.

Long-range orientational correlations in liquids have received recent renewed interest, in particular for the neat water case. These long-range orientational correlations, exceeding several tens of nanometers, originate from the presence of the strong permanent water dipolar moment. However, the exact dependence with the dipolar moment and the role of other local forces like steric hindrance has never been addressed. In this work, we experimentally measure long-range correlations for a set of liquids differing by their molecular weight and dipolar moment, in order to reveal the origin of their long-range organization. Hence, we show that the dipolar moment of a solvent molecule is not the unique feature determining the orientational correlation. Steric hindrance significantly helps to structure the liquids as well. In order to quantify these long-range correlations, we also derive theoretically the polarization resolved second harmonic scattering intensity as a function of the rotational invariants describing the dipolar and octupolar interaction.

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder. Previous studies have yielded divergent results on the prevalence of depression and anxiety in patients with HS., Objective: The aim of this meta-analysis was to provide a pooled estimate of the prevalence and odds of depression/anxiety in patients with HS., Methods: Search for and extraction of relevant literature without restrictions from 5 databases (Cochrane Database, EMBASE, PubMed, PsycINFO, Science Direct) were performed. Pooled meta-analyses were made by using random-effects models., Results: Meta-analyses of 28 studies of depression in HS and 12 of anxiety showed a prevalence of 21% (95% CI [17-25]) of depression and 12% (95% CI [6-17]) of anxiety in patients with HS, with very wide variations in both cases. Analysis of case-control studies showed an association between depression and HS (odds ratio, 1.99 95% CI [1.63-2.43]) and between anxiety and HS (odds ratio, 1.97 95% CI [1.65-2.35])., Limitations: The results of this meta-analysis are conditioned by the limitations of the studies included and by differences in patient populations, methodologic approach, and data available., Conclusion: Patients with HS have a high burden of depression and anxiety. Background: The proportion of people living to a very old age is continuously increasing. One of the possibilities explored in policies and services to meet this health and societal challenge is to encourage the very old to continue living at home. This initiative is in line with the wishes of most elderly people. However, owing to the great changes that occur during old age attention should be paid to health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The aims of this study were to assess HRQoL in French community-dwelling people aged 80 years and over and to investigate the sociodemographic and health characteristics and life events associated with HRQoL., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in France to assess the HRQoL of people aged 80 years or more living at home. All people recruited were sent a letter explaining the aim of the study and requesting their consent to take part. Those who accepted then received a series of sociodemographic and medical questionnaires, a questionnaire concerning life events of the previous 12 months and the LEIPAD questionnaire, which assesses HRQoL in elderly people., Results: The data of 184 participants (54.9% female) with a mean age of 83.9 years (almost 40% older than 85 years), were analysed. Low scores, indicating better HRQoL, were obtained on the 'Self-Care' and 'Depression and Anxiety' scales with 50.9 and 40.8% of responders, respectively, having the minimum score of zero. The highest score was found on the 'Sexual Functioning' scale, with 59.1% of participants having the maximum score of 100. Elderly females declared a significantly less satisfactory HRQoL. Deteriorating health, an unsatisfactory environment, not being able to drive, perceived modest income and financial worries negatively affected HRQoL., Conclusion: Identifying factors in our study that are potential determinants of HRQoL would be of direct benefit for individuals. Concrete public policy initiatives concerning means of transport, living environment and financial resources could then be implemented to improve the HRQoL of very old community-dwelling individuals.

There are common cognitive and brain abnormalities in schizophrenia and healthy aging which may cumulate in schizophrenia aging. However, the course of executive deficits in late-life schizophrenia is still controversial as it remains unclear whether schizophrenia patients show accelerated aging. The use of specific models of executive functions might help to shed new lights on this issue. The aim of this study was then to determine how each of the four specific executive functions (shifting, updating, inhibition and access to long-term memory) is affected by aging in schizophrenia compared to healthy aging. 20 younger (age 18-34), 17 middle-aged (age 35-49) and 25 older (age 59-76) schizophrenia patients and 62 healthy comparison participants matched for gender, age and education performed a neurocognitive battery evaluating the four specific executive functions. Schizophrenia patients performed worse than comparison participants on shifting, updating and access, whereas inhibition appeared preserved. Age affected the four functions with increased degradation of shifting and access in schizophrenia patients, whereas updating and inhibition showed a normal decline with age. These results suggest a vulnerability of prefrontal and cingulate cortexes in schizophrenia aging. Moreover, as age affected the specific executive functions differently, remediation programs should be adapted to older patients. Impaired emotional abilities (higher scores of alexithymia and lower levels of emotional awareness) were found in patients with skin-restricted lupus, warranting examination of the relationship between these abilities and the evolution of skin-restricted lupus, using longitudinal data. A total of 75 consecutive outpatients with skin-restricted lupus were recruited and assessed by a dermatologist and a psychiatrist every 6 months over a period of 2.5 years. Alexithymia and emotional awareness were evaluated with the French versions of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and the Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale (LEAS). During follow-up, good stability of the LEAS scores was observed, whereas TAS-20 scores varied; those variations were positively associated both with lupus duration and current psychiatric and personality disorders, but not with lupus remission. Such findings regarding 2 complementary aspects of emotional functioning are of direct interest for the management of patients with skin-restricted lupus.

Background: Few studies have addressed health-related quality of life in community-dwelling individuals aged 80 years and above and very few self-assessment quality of life questionnaires have been formally validated in these populations. This study aimed to validate a French version of the LEIPAD, a self-administered questionnaire assessing the health-related quality of life of people aged 80 years and over., Method: A cross-sectional study of people aged 80 years and over living at home in France was conducted. All subjects recruited were sent a letter explaining the study and requesting their consent to take part. Those who accepted then received the questionnaires, including the LEIPAD, which assesses health-related quality of life in the subjects aged 65 years and above. We assessed its psychometric properties: data completeness, score distribution, floor and ceiling effects, internal consistency, item-total correlations, inter-scale correlations, reliability and convergent validity with the Medical Outcome Study Short-Form 36 (SF-36)., Results: The results obtained from 184 older people (mean age of 83.9 years, standard deviation 3.3) showed very good acceptability (missing data between 1.1% and 11.4% for LEIPAD scales) Factor analysis of the instrument confirmed the multi-dimensional structure in seven independent scales similar to the original version. Good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.68 to 0.87) and strong test-retest reliability of the LEIPAD scales (intraclass correlation coefficients ranging from 0.77 to 0.95) were found. Convergent validity with the SF-36 showed moderate to strong correlations, consistent with the hypotheses stated., Conclusions: The validation of this specific questionnaire will make it possible to investigate individually the health-related quality of life of French older people living at home and will enable French-speaking investigators to contribute to national and international research projects., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.

Introduction: The Motor tic, Obsessions and compulsions, Vocal tic Evaluation Survey (MOVES) is a self-report scale suggested as a severity scale for tics and related sensory phenomena observed in Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS) and recommended as a screening instrument by the Committee on Rating Scale Development of the International Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society., Objectives: To cross-culturally adapt a French version of the MOVES and to evaluate its psychometric properties., Methods: After the cross-cultural adaptation of the MOVES, we assessed its psychometric properties in 53 patients aged 12-16 years and in 54 patients aged 16 years and above: reliability and construct validity (relationships between items and scales), internal consistency and concurrent validity with the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) and the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (CY-BOCS) or the auto-Yale-Brown scale., Results: The results showed very good acceptability with response rates greater than 92%, good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.62 and 0.89) and good test-retest reliability (ICCs ranging from 0.59 to 0.91). Concurrent validity with the YGTSS, CY-BOCS and auto-Yale-Brown scales showed strong expected correlations. The cut-off points tested for diagnostic performance gave satisfactory values of sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values., Discussion: Our study provides evidence of the good psychometric properties of the French version of the MOVES. The cross-cultural adaptation of this specific instrument will allow investigators to include French-speaking persons with GTS aged 12 years and over in national and international collaboration research projects.

Objective: To assess and compare the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of spouses living at home with a patient aged 65 years or more suffering from a major depressive disorder and that of matched controls. Secondly, to investigate whether the HRQoL of spouses was correlated with the assessment of their partner's depression, their own depression and the self-perceived level of care burden experienced by the caregiver partner., Methods: Assessment of patients was based on the clinical diagnosis of a major depressive disorder as established by the criteria of the DSM-IV-TR, the geriatric depression scale GDS-15 and the LEIPAD questionnaire specific to subjects aged 65 or over living at home. Spouses were assessed by GDS-15, the Zarit scale for assessing caregiver burden and the LEIPAD questionnaire. The HRQoL of controls, who were matched for age, sex and educational level, was assessed by LEIPAD., Results: The study sample (n=38) was made up of 19 patients (mean age of 76.6 years, standard deviation 8.1) and their spouses (mean age of 75.3 years, standard deviation 8.2). The HRQoL score of the spouses was significantly poorer for the scale "Sexual functioning" (P=0.0007) than that of controls and was negatively affected by their partner's depression (P=0.02). The HRQoL scores of the spouses for "Physical function", "Depression and anxiety" and "Sexual functioning" were negatively affected by their own depression (correlation coefficients r=0.50, 0.53 and 0.54, respectively). The HRQoL scores for "Self-care", "Sexual functioning" and "Life satisfaction" were also negatively affected in spouses by the self-perceived burden of care (correlation coefficients r=0.59, 0.57 and 0.51, respectively)., Conclusion: The sexual quality of life of spouses of elderly patients suffering from a major depressive disorder was significantly impaired. The patients' and spouses' depression and the caregivers' burden also had a negative impact on several aspects of the HRQoL of the spouses. It seems to be important, therefore, to assess the mental state, care burden and HRQoL of spouses caring for elderly patients suffering from depression so as to offer help when required to partners in difficulty., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Masson SAS. Psychiatric and personality disorders have been extensively documented in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, the prevalence of personality disorders in skin-restricted lupus (SRL) patients remains unknown. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of personality disorders in SRL outpatients and to examine the associated factors. We evaluated 60 SRL outpatients and 118 controls matched for sex, age and education level. On the basis of the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire 4+, 38% of patients vs 20% of controls fulfilled the criteria for at least one personality disorder (OR 2.2 [95% CI 1.01-4.6], p = 0.048). Only one patient with a personality disorder had specialised mental health care. Late lupus onset and more frequent past treatments by thalidomide were associated factors. This study evidences a high prevalence of personality disorders in SRL patients and shows that most SRL patients with personality disorder do not receive specialised mental health care.

Background: Psychiatric disorders have been extensively documented in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in patients with skin-restricted lupus (SRL) remains unknown, although SRL is more common than SLE., Objectives: To assess current and lifetime prevalence of Axis I psychiatric disorders among outpatients with SRL and to examine the factors associated with psychiatric disorders among such patients., Methods: A multicentre case-control study involving outpatients with SRL and controls matched for sex, age and education level. The Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview was used for psychiatric evaluation., Results: We evaluated 75 patients and 150 controls. Of these, 49% of patients vs. 13% of controls fulfilled the criteria for at least one current psychiatric disorder (P < 0·001). The following disorders were significantly more frequent among patients than controls: current and lifetime major depressive disorder (9% vs. 0%, P < 0·001 and 44% vs. 26%, P = 0·01), generalized anxiety disorder (23% vs. 3%, P < 0·001 and 35% vs. 19%, P = 0·03), panic disorder (7% vs. 0%, P = 0·004 and 21% vs. 3%, P < 0·001), current suicide risk (24% vs. 7%, P = 0·003), alcohol dependence (7% vs. 0%, P = 0·004) and lifetime agoraphobia (20% vs. 9%, P = 0·01). Lupus duration and lupus past treatment by thalidomide were significantly higher among patients with current psychiatric disorders., Conclusions: This study demonstrates a high prevalence of several psychiatric disorders (anxiety, depression, suicide risk, alcohol dependence) in patients with SRL., (© 2016 British Association of Dermatologists.)

Background: To assess health-related quality of life in French adults aged 65 years and over, living at home, with a specific self-administered questionnaire, the LEIPAD, cross-culturally adapted in French., Methods: Elderly completed socio-demographic and medical questionnaires, a questionnaire about negative life events during the last 12 months and the LEIPAD., Results: Data of 195 subjects (mean age: 72.6 years, men: 56.5%) were analyzed. The response rates to the LEIPAD scales were superior to 90%. Elderly reported on the whole a good health-related quality of life. Age had a negative effect on quality on life, which deteriorates over years. Age was correlated to the scales "Physical function", "Self-care", "Cognitive functioning" and "Sexual functioning". Elderly hospitalized in the last year had worse quality of life with a significant difference for "Physical function" scale. The number of health problems was positively correlated to "Physical function" scale. Elderly declaring at least one health problem had worse quality of life for this scale. Problems in couple, materials and financial problems had also negative effects on health-related quality of life., Conclusion: Our study highlights a good health-related quality of life for the majority of these adults aged 65 years and over, as well as the negative effect of age, health, couple, materials and financial problems on their quality of life., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS. Metastatic melanoma is one of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer and has a poor prognosis. We have previously identified Annexin A1 (ANXA1) as a potential murine melanoma-spreading factor that may modulate cell invasion by binding to formyl peptide receptors (FPRs). Here, we report that (1) in a B16Bl6 spontaneous metastasis model, a siRNA-induced decrease in tumoral ANXA1 expression significantly reduced tumoral MMP2 activity and number of lung metastases; (2) in a retrospective study of 61 patients, metastasis-free survival was inversely related to ANXA1 expression levels in primary tumors (HR 3.15 [1.03-9.69], p = 0.045); (3) in human melanoma cell lines, ANXA1 level was positively correlated with in vitro invasion capacity whereas normal melanocytes contained low ANXA1 levels, and (4) the ANXA1 N-terminal peptide ANXA12-26 stimulated MMP2 activity after interaction with FPRs and significantly stimulated the in vitro invasion of melanomas by acting on FPRs. These findings identify ANXA1 as a proinvasive protein in melanoma that holds promise as a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target.

To characterize proteins involved in melanoma dissemination, protein profiles from B16F10 and B16Bl6 cells were compared, as only B16Bl6 cells give pulmonary metastases after subcutaneous graft. As B16F10 and B16Bl6 cells had the same invasive capacities in vitro, we wondered whether their extracellular content could be different and correlate with their metastatic properties. We have shown that B16F10 and B16Bl6 culture cell supernatants have different modulatory effects on HT1080 fibrosarcoma cell invasion in Matrigel-coated chambers. B16Bl6 supernatants significantly enhanced HT1080 in vitro invasion as compared with B16F10 ones, suggesting differences in their protein profiles. Indeed, proteomic analysis allowed the identification of 18 differential proteins. Among the proteins with a higher concentration in B16Bl6 supernanants, lactate dehydrogenase B, M2 pyruvate kinase, cathepsin D, and galectin 1 were involved in the melanoma aggressiveness signature. Interestingly, several Gag retroviral proteins, as well as syntenin, were found mainly in the B16F10 secretome. Although its intracellular form is known as an aggressive melanoma marker, we show for the first time that syntenin was actively secreted and could reduce the invasion process, probably by protein interactions in the B16 model.

To identify proteins involved in melanoma metastasis mechanisms, comparative proteomic studies were undertaken on B16F10 and B16Bl6 melanoma cell lines and their subsequent syngenic primary tumours as pulmonary metastases were present only in the mice bearing a B16Bl6 tumour. 2DE analyses followed by MALDI-TOF identification showed variations of 6 proteins in vitro and 13 proteins in vivo. Differential expressed proteins in tumours were related to energy production and storage. Two differentially expressed proteins which had not been previously associated to melanoma progression, annexin A1 (ANXA1) and creatine kinase B (CKB), were found both in cells and in tumours. To characterize ANXA1 involvement in melanoma B16 dissemination, we reduced ANXA1 protein level by siRNA and observed a significant decrease of B16Bl6 cell invasion through Matrigel coated chambers. We further demonstrated that the presence of several formyl peptide receptors (FPR1, FPRrs1 and 2) revealed by qRT-PCR, played a role in B16 invasion: incubation of B16Bl6 cells with the FPR agonist (fMLP) or antagonist (tBOC) enhanced or decreased Matrigel coated chamber invasion respectively, with a correlation of ANXA1 levels in both treatments. As ANXA1 could bind to FPRs, this should amplify invasion and enhance melanoma dissemination.
