Over a 14 yr period, our clinical experience included 92 intracranial neoplasms in children. 53.1 percent of these neoplasms were located supratentorially, while 46 percent were in an infratentorial location. The time honoured concept of predominance of posterior cranial fossa neoplasms, in childhood central nervous system neoplasia, needs revision.

The association of meningitis with congenital spinal lesion, particularly neurodermal sinus and intradural dermoid, is well documented. However, less is known about the precipitating factors in the occurrence of such meningitis. We present the case of a two year old child with an intradural lumbosacral dermoid who suffered three bouts of meningitis. Each episode of meningitis followed insertion of rectal suppository for treatment of chronic constipation.

SUMMARY Clinical features and cerebral angiographic studies in four children with uncommon lesions affecting the cerebral circulation are presented. The significant morbid anatomical features are included in the case of one patient who died. The lesions are: 1. Incomplete occlusion of the cervical portion of the internal carotid artery following blunt, non-penetrating neck trauma. 2. Dissecting aneurysm of the left middle cerebral artery. 3. Arteritis associated with sphenoid sinusitis and meningitis. 4. Intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage due to rupture of an intracerebral varix. Previous reports of similar uncommon cerebrovascular lesions are cited, and the pathogenesis of these lesions is discussed. RESUME Lesions cerebro-vasculaire inhabituelles chez l'enfant Les auteurs rapportent les caracteres cliniques et les resultats des etudes d'arteriographie cerebrale chez quatre enfants presentant des lesions du systeme vasculaire cerebral. Les caracteristiques anatomo-pathologiques sont presentees dans un cas ou l'enfant mourut. Les lesions sont les suivantes: 1. Occlusion incomplete de la portion cervicale de la carotide interne a la suite d'un traumatisme du cou massif, non penetrant. 2. Anevrysme dissequant de la sylvienne gauche. 3. Arterite associee a une sinusite sphenoidale et a une meningite. 4. Hemorragie intra-cerebrale et sous-aracnoidienne, due a la rupture d'une varice intracerebrale. Les auteurs citent des publications anterieures de lesions cerebro-vasculaires inhabituelles semblables et discutent la pathogenie de ces lesions. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Ungewohnliche Cerebro-vasculare Verletzungen bei Kindern Die klinischen Erscheinungen und cerebral-angiographischen Untersuchungen von vier Kindern mit ungewohnlichen Verletzungen, die zu einer Einschrankung der cerebralen Durchblutung gefuhrt haben, werden beschrieben. Im Falle eines Patienten, der spater starb, sind die signifikanten krankhaften anatomischen Befunde vereinigt: 1. Ein inkompletter Verschlus des cervicalen Anteils der Arteria carotis interna nach einem stumpfen, nicht penetrierenden Halstrauma. 2. Ein Aneurysma dissecans der linken Arteria cerebralis media. 3. Arteriitis mit Entzundung des Sinus sphenoides und Meningitis. 4. Intracerebrale und subarachnoidale Blutung durch eine Ruptur eines intracerebralen Varixknotens. Fruhere Berichte uber ahnliche ungewohnliche cerebrovasculare Verletzungen werden zitiert und die Pathogenese dieser Verletzungen diskutiert. En un caso que fallecio se incluyen los hallazgos anatomopatologicos significativos. Las lesiones son: 1. Oclusion incompleta de la porcion cervical de la arteria carotida interna, a conse-cuencia de un trauma cervical no penetrante. 2. Aneurisma disecante de la arteria cerebral media izquierda. 3. Arteritis asociada con sinusitis esfenoidal y meningitis. 4. Hemorragia intracerebral y subcarotidea por ruptura de una variz intracerebral. Se citan otros casos anteriores de lesiones cerebro-vasculares nofrecuentes similares y se discute la patogenia de estas lesiones.

The case history of a patient treated for unilateral hereditary retinoblastoma who subsequently developed malignant melanoma and eosinophilic granuloma is presented. Although the association between retinoblastoma and second malignancies including malignant melanoma is established, we have found no reports of third malignancies occurring in such individuals.
