The aim of the study was to determine the impact of internal and external (proximal and distal) attentional focus on table tennis backhand stroke accuracy in low-skilled players. Fifty-one undergraduate physical education (PE) students were randomly assigned to 3 groups: Group G1 (IF) was instructed to focus on the hand holding the paddle, Group G2 (EFP) was instructed to focus on the ball, while Group G3 (EFD) was instructed to focus on targets marked on the tennis table. The experimental groups followed identical instructions except for the instruction about the focus of attention. Participants were asked to score as many points as possible by hitting the ball inside the three smallest targets marked on the tennis table. They were required to do so using a backhand stroke. The practice session consisted of 45 trials in three blocks of backhand (15 trials at each target). A special scoring system was used to determine the accuracy of the strokes. One of the most important findings from the current research was that groups with an external focus of attention revealed significant improvements in accuracy in the post-test, while the group with an internal focus of attention achieved low training effects. No significant difference was observed between G2 (EFP) and G3 (EFD) in the delayed retention test, which indicates that proximal and distal attentional focus had similar effects on table tennis backhand stroke accuracy in low-skilled players.

Background. In recent years, the subject literature has provided concrete recommendations concerning health with regard to specific parameters. Therefore, it is necessary to indicate appropriate physical activity standards for proper development at various stages of human ontogenesis. Objective. The aim of the work was knowledge of the level of physical activity of high school youth in the Visegrad countries, including gender indications, to demonstrate whether the WHO recommendations are fulfilled. Material and methods. The research was conducted in students from four Visegrad countries: the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. As the research method, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire − IPAQ in the extended version was used. Results. Boys seem to do much better and have largely fulfilled the WHO recommendation for high-intensity efforts performed 3 times for 20 minutes, and medium and high efforts − 7 times for 60 minutes, which is particularly crucial for the effectiveness of the level of physical activity. Conclusions. It is indispensable to continue monitoring the physical activity of young people using modern research techniques. It seems intentional to intensify promotion and educational activities, which should be aimed at motivating young people to undertake physical activity in accordance with world-wide recommendations.

Introduction As indicated by the WHO, lifestyle plays a unique role in human health, which in turn is determined to a great extent by physical activity and nutrition. It must be borne in mind that physical activity should be systematic and regulated by an age-appropriate exercise intensity. All this indicates that learning about students’ lifestyle, with a particular focus on physical activity is vital as it these young people who aspire to the role of the future elites. Objective The aim of the study is to evaluate the level of physical activity, nutrition- and silhouette-related behaviours of male and female students to assess the relationships between these variables in students from the Visegrad Group countries. Material and methods The study was conducted in 2015 and involved 2,497 students attending three undergraduate levels aged – x – 21,76, (SD-1,80) – 1,211 males (48.5%) and 1,286 females (51.5%). The IPAQ long-form and a questionnaire by the Polish Chief Sanitary Inspector were used. Results Physical activity was significantly higher in male than female students. An important relationship was observed among the larger number of consumed meals, level of physical activity, and silhouette-related behaviours in male students, which was not the case with females. However, there was an important correlation between physical activity in males and females who exercised to increase or decrease body weight (musculature), and took medications to increase body weight (musculature). Conclusions Both males and females showed pro-health attitudes related to the level of physical activity and nutrition- and silhouette-related behaviours.

Aktywność fizyczna jest właściwością istot żywych, sposobem ich funkcjonowania zarówno od strony fizjologicznej jak i psychicznej. Celem pracy było określenie poziomu aktywności fizycznej studentów, w oparciu o deklarowaną przez nich samoocenę, a także poznanie motywów, które skłoniły respondentów do wyboru różnych form aktywności. W badaniu zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem wersji długiej kwestionariusza ankiety IPAQ. Wyniki badań wykazały, iż deklarowany poziom samooceny odzwierciedla faktyczny poziom aktywności fizycznej studentów. Wśród przyszłych badanych nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego, a zwłaszcza w grupie respondentów określających siebie jako “bardzo aktywni” dominowały takie motywy jak podniesienie kondycji fizycznej, wzmocnienie własnej wartości oraz poprawa stanu zdrowia.

Porównywanie gry najlepszych zespołów w turniejach o najwyższą stawkę pozwala na wskazanie elementów gry, które w największym stopniu wpływają na efektywność gry. Celem pracy było porównanie efektywności wykonania podstawowych elementów gry, jakimi są strzały i podania oraz długości pokonanego dystansu z uwzględnieniem poszczególnych intensywności. Modele odwzorowujące sprawność działania zawodników podczas turnieju MŚ-RPA 2010 opracowano z wykorzystaniem materiału badawczego zebranego w oparciu o system analizy gry Castrol Performance Index. Wykazano istotne zróżnicowanie pomiędzy badanymi zespołami w podaniach piłki. Najefektywniej podania w poszczególnych zasięgach wykonywali zawodnicy zespołu mistrzowskiego Hiszpanie. Wykazano, iż efektywność strzałów nie różnicowała zespołów w zależności od zajętego miejsca w mistrzostwach, także długość pokonanego dystansu i jego poszczególne zakresy intensywnościrównież nie wykazały takiej tendencji

Niepełnosprawność jest jednym z ważniejszych problemów współczesnego świata. Fakt ten wynika z powszechności i rozmiaru tego zjawiska. Z roku na rok wzrasta liczba osób o różnym stopniu niepełnosprawności. Jest to spowodowane procesem starzenia się społeczeństwa, jak również wzrastającą ilością zagrożeń cywilizacyjnych. Celem badań było poznanie opinii osób niepełnosprawnych na temat uczestnictwa i znaczenia w ich życiu turystyki rowerowej. Badania przeprowadzono w 2010 roku na terenach wschodniej Polski. Popularność roweru używanego do celów rekreacyjnych i turystycznych w ostatnim czasie wyraźnie wzrosła. Turystyka kolarska, spacery, wycieczki, a nawet wielodniowe wędrówki na rowerze są atrakcyjnym sposobem wypełniania wolnego czasu.

Physical fitness is one of the main factors determining the basis of health, quality of life and well-being, which is why more and more attention should be devoted to this issue among older adults.The aim ofthe study was to gain know-ledge of physical fitness of older adult women after the application of the 6-month program of physical activity. The study included thirty five women over the age of 60, who were listeners of University of the Third Age in Biała Podlaska.The Fullerton Functional Fitness Test was used to assess physical fitness. Activities undertaken by thesurveyed women within the 6-month program of classes, in which the dominant forms were streamline gymnastics, aqua aerobics and nordic walking, had a positive impact on improving their physical fitness. Physical activity programs focused on improvement of physical activity responsible for the overall functioning of an older adult person should be developed for people over 60 years of age.

The aim of the research was to study the diversity of the level of physical activity among the students according to their place of residence: a house (a detached house) or a flat (a residential block). The research was carried out in 2015 among 730 students (373 women and 357 men) of John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska (PSW). The method used in the research was the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) in its long version. The results have shown that there were no significant differences in the overall level of physical activity of both men and women according to their place of residence. However, significant differences have been noticed among female and male students as regards the physical activity connected to housework in favour of people living in houses. The same correlation was observed in favour of women living in flats (residential blocks).

In view of new civilizational challenges of the 21st century, health promotion and education encouraging active participation in physical recreation, which should be implemented at all levels of education, within family, peer environment and local environment, become issues of particular importance. The research was carried out in the summer of 2013 and included 572 students of John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska (PSW), of such degree courses as Tourism and Recreation, Public Health, Nursing, Rescue Medicine and Computer Science. The method used in the research was a diagnostic survey based on International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The aim of the study was to get to know the differentiation between the forms of recreational physical activity taken up and expected by the students of PWS and their gender, BMI and self-assessment of physical fitness. Basing on the results of the analysis it was concluded that the abovementioned independent variables have significant impact on the forms of physical activity chosen and expected by the surveyed. Studies of the literature on the subject and the results of our previous research entitle us to conclude that university students, who in the near future will constitute the intellectual elite of the country, should be aware of the influence of physical activity on general health, the importance of healthy lifestyle and their role in promoting healthy attitudes. However, the research showed that the students are not ready to perform such tasks, therefore the actions preparing them to lead a healthy lifestyle need to be intensified.

The aim of the study was to analyze the level of physical activity of students of selected fields of study at Biała Podlaska University depending on the year of study. The study involved 450 people, studying at the first and second stages of education at the State School of Higher Education (PSW) in Biała Podlaska. In the study, a method of diagnostic survey was applied, with the use of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire IPAQ - short version. Based on the analysis it was concluded that the surveyed students were characterized by a moderate level of physical activity. The diversity of types of physical activity of students in relation to the year of study were statistically significant in terms of total activity, moderate activity and walking - in favor of students of the second year of undergraduate studies.
