The aim of this study was to verify whether the level of mental resilience would differentiate reading comprehension performance when using different information carriers. More than 150 people filled out a test regarding the level of resilience. They then participated in a survey using fNIRS. Their task was to read a one-page informational text and answer several questions. The results showed no differences in correct answers between groups of people with different levels of resilience. In the groups of people with high and low levels of resilience, the number of correct answers was not differentiated by the type of carrier. Among those with moderate levels of resilience, better results were obtained by those who read text printed on paper. Analyses of neuronal mechanisms showed that the type of carrier differentiated brain activity in each group. Obtaining the same number of correct answers in the test was the result of different neuronal mechanisms activated in those who used a computer and those who read a printed text.

Objectives The aim of the study was to explore the relationship between mental resiliency and the sense of self-efficacy of public administration employees and to determine the levels of both analysed variables. This study also focuses on employees’ readiness for remote working. Material and methods The study used The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) created by R. Schwarzer and M. Jerusalem, adapted by Z. Juczyński, which was developed on the basis of A. Bandura's concept of self-efficacy. The Resiliency Assessment Scale - SPP-25 by N. Ogińska-Bulik and Zygfryd Juczyński was administered to measure resiliency. The study also employed a self-constructed survey on remote working readiness. The sample consisted of 515 employees of public administration. Results The results showed that there is a high correlation between the sense of general self-efficacy and mental resiliency and its five dimensions. The surveyed public administration employees are characterized by high levels of both mental resiliency and a sense of general self-efficacy. Employees, despite having short experience of remote work, exhibit great flexibility in adapting to changes in the mode of work (from remote to stationary and vice versa). They also show readiness to work in hybrid model, which is important in the context of dynamic changes in the labor market . Conclusions The study has both a theoretical and practical dimension. Self-efficacy is strongly related to mental resiliency and these are the resources that can be learned and developed. Fostering mental resiliency and a sense of self-efficacy can contribute to effective coping with changes in the professional context, especially in remote working conditions, and improve the quality of life and mental well-being of employees (Saini & Roulet, 2022, s. 5-6).

Objectives The COVID-19 pandemic causes severe stress that disrupts the lives of many people. The presented research, based on the conservation of resources theory, was carried out to identify the areas of gains and losses in resources among adult Poles during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and methods The research was based on the quantitative research paradigm. It was conducted using the snowball method. Personal resources (COR) were assessed using the Self-Assessment Questionnaire of Gains and Losses by S. Hobfoll. Statistical calculations were made using the Statistica 13 package and in the R statistical environment. Results The research showed that family resources were the most significant ones for the respondents. Obtained data showed the COVID-19 pandemic affected the balance of gains and losses in resources. During the research, clusters were found differentiating people who balance gains and losses in their resources in various ways. The research did not reveal any correlation between the clusters and socio-demographic variables. Conclusions It is requested to nurture proper, positive and multidimensional interpersonal relationships that will enhance resources and protect against their loss in challenging, stressful situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Introduction In the modern world professional work of students is considered as a norm. It brings with it various consequences. The announced COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to changing the situation of students on the labor market. The remote education system has made it difficult to develop the competencies required in the labor market. Research Aim The aim of the research was to diagnose selected student resources in the context of labor market needs. The resources analyzed were: students' self-assessment and their experiences related to professional work and attitudes towards work. Method A diagnostic survey was used in the study. The tools used were the SES Self-Esteem Scale M. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale in the Polish adaptation of I. Dzwonkowska, K. Lachowicz-Tabaczek and M. Łaguna and a questionnaire of own design. The study was conducted using an online survey via an Internet platform. The selection of respondents was done using the snowball method. Results The respondents were 151 full-time students in the social sciences. They have diverse resources in terms of preparation for employment. The respondents are dominated by people with average and high self-esteem. Most students have work experience. Just over half currently hold a job. Students are mostly positive about working conditions. The main motives for taking a job are financial considerations and the desire to gain work experience. According to the respondents, the pandemic period has limited their chances in the labor market. The respondents perceive work as a value. They can be called cautious optimists in their approach to their professional future. Conclusions Student paid work provides an opportunity to acquire skills expected by employers. However, it should be remembered that it is supposed to be a form that supports development and not compete with studies. It is beneficial when the work of students, at least to some extent, is consistent with the studied major.

Niewątpliwie poczucie własnej skuteczności ma ogromny wpływ na samopoczucie i działania podejmowane przez ludzi. Funkcja ta wydaje się być korzystna dla osób w dorosłym wieku. Jest to etap życia, w którym młodzi dorośli muszą aktywnie uczestniczyć w planowaniu swojej przyszłości i podejmowaniu wyzwań. Celem badania było zdiagnozowanie własnej skuteczności osób wchodzących w dorosłość w kontekście ich zadowolenia z życia. W badaniu wykorzystano test poczucia skuteczności (TPS) M. Chomczyńskiej-Rubacha i K. Rubacha oraz Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) zaprojektowany przez E. Dienera, R.A. Emmons, R.J. Larson i S. Griffin w adaptacji Z. Juczyńskiego. Analiza wykazała słaby związek między poczuciem własnej skuteczności a satysfakcją z życia. Uzyskane wyniki skłaniają do podjęcia dalszych badań, które mogą wyjaśnić przyczyny niskiej korelacji między analizowanymi zmiennymi.

Szkoła jest miejscem w przestrzeni społecznej, gdzie największe tempo ma intelektualne i moralne dojrzewanie człowieka. Dlatego też edukacja powinna być działalnością świadomą i celową nie tylko w odniesieniu do kształcenia, ale także wychowania dzieci i młodzieży. U źródeł wychowania leżą wartości. Podjęte w prezentowanym opracowaniu rozważania teoretyczno-empiryczne dotyczą systemu wartości uczniów szkół ponadgimnazjalnych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pracy jako wartości. Określenie systemu wartości młodych osób jest niezwykle ważne, gdyż może być traktowane jako prognostyk dotyczący rozwoju zarówno samej jednostki, jak i społeczeństwa.
