Companies are increasing their use of cause-related marketing as a means of communicating their commitment to corporate social responsibility while accomplishing their strategic goals. Although prior studies suggest that consumers react positively to cause-related marketing programs, understanding of their impact on financial performance remains limited. To address this gap, the authors employ an event study to examine the effects of cause-related marketing announcements on shareholder value using a sample of firms that appeared on Fortune's Most Admired All-Star list between 2005 and 2017. Study results show that announcement of these initiatives results in a significant loss of shareholder value. These losses are most pronounced for firms making monetary-only contributions, in comparison to those that make in-kind donations. In addition, the negative effects are mitigated for firms that have stronger reputations, have greater resource slack, and operate in more dynamic industries. This study explores two unique aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from the perspective of gender diversity in the field of motion pictures and the dimension of inclusion utilizing the Bechdel-Wallace Test (BWT). A production may pass the BWT if a conversation between two women is not about men, hence the conversation is deemed meaningful. Using a consumer-driven data set, we find a positive effect of the BWT on international and total box office sales. The results also show a unique result in the years following the modern #MeToo movement, leading to enhanced box office returns for domestic, international, and total box office sales. Therefore, in addition to contributing to efforts to better understanding the impact of the addition of gender diversity and inclusion on motion picture performance, female characters' meaningful conversation with other females will likely lead to higher return on producers' investment in motion pictures. Introduction: SHORT syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition described by its acronym of short stature, hyperextensibility of joints and/or inguinal hernia, ocular depression, Rieger abnormality, and teething delay. Individuals have a distinct progeroid craniofacial appearance with a triangular face, frontal bossing, hypoplastic or thin alae nasi, large low-set ears, and mandibular retrognathia. Objectives: To systematically appraise the literature and update the clinical phenotype with emphasis on the dental condition. Design: A systematic literature search was carried out to update the clinical phenotype, identifying reports of individuals with SHORT syndrome published after August 2015. The same search strategy but not limited to publication date was carried out to identify reports of the dental phenotype. Two independent reviewers screened 1937 articles with 55 articles identified for full-text review. Results: Nineteen individuals from 11 families were identified. Facial dysmorphism including ocular depression, triangular shaped face, frontal bossing, large low-set ears, and micrognathia were the most consistent features followed by lipodystrophy, insulin resistance, and intrauterine growth restriction. Teething delay, microdontia, hypodontia, and enamel hypoplasia have all been reported. Conclusion: Features that comprise the SHORT acronym do not accurately or completely describe the clinical phenotype. The craniofacial appearance is one of the most consistent features. Lipodystrophy and insulin resistance may also be considered cardinal features. After teething delay, enamel hypoplasia and microdontia are the most common dental manifestations. Dobson and Brewer spectrophotometers are the primary, standard instruments for ground‐based ozone measurements under the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) Global Atmosphere Watch program. The accuracy of the data retrieval for both instruments depends on a knowledge of the ozone absorption coefficients and some assumptions underlying the data analysis. Instrumental stray light causes non-linearity in the response of both the Brewer and Dobson to ozone at large ozone slant paths. In addition, it affects the effective ozone absorption coefficients and extraterrestrial constants that are both instrument dependent. This effect has not been taken into account in the calculation of ozone absorption coefficients that are currently recommended by WMO for the Dobson network. The ozone absorption coefficients are calculated for each Brewer instrument individually, but in the current procedure the effect of stray light is not being considered. This study documents the error caused by the effect of stray light in the Brewer and Dobson total ozone measurements using a mathematical model for each instrument. For the first time, new ozone absorption coefficients are calculated for the Brewer and Dobson instruments taking into account the stray light effect. The analyses show that the differences detected between the total ozone amounts deduced from Dobson AD and CD pair wavelengths are related to the level of stray light within the instrument. The error introduced by the assumption of a fixed height for the ozone layer for ozone measurements at high latitude sites is also evaluated. The ozone data collected by three Dobson instruments between 2008 and 2012 are compared with ozone data from a collocated double monochromator Brewer spectrophotometer (Mark III). The United States government has operated Dobson Ozone Spectrophotometers at various sites, starting during the International Geophysical Year (July 1, 1957 to December 31, 1958). A network of stations for longterm monitoring of the total column content (thickness of the ozone layer) of the atmosphere was established in the early 1960s, and eventually grew to sixteen stations, fourteen of which are still operational and submit data to the United States of America's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Seven of these sites are also part of the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC), an organization that maintains its own data archive. Due to recent changes in data processing software the entire data set was reevaluated for possible changes. To evaluate and minimize potential changes caused by the new processing software, the reprocessed data record was compared to the original data record archived in the World Ozone and UV Data Center (WOUDC) in Toronto, Canada. The history of the observations at the individual stations, the instruments used for the NOAA network monitoring at the station, the method for reducing zenith sky observations to total ozone, and calibration procedures were re-evaluated using data quality control tools built into the new software. At the completion of the evaluation, the new data sets are to be published as an update to the WOUDC and NDACC archives, and the entire data set is to be made available to the scientific community. The procedure for reprocessing Dobson data and the results of the re-analysis on the archived record is presented in this paper.
