Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo comprobar si la satisfacción laboral tiene influencia en el nivel de engagement de los trabajadores empresas de Ecuador y Perú; estudio transversal, cuantitativo, que utilizó el cuestionario de satisfacción laboral de Paúl Spector y el de engagement de Schaufeli y Bakker; se trabajó con una muestra no probabilistica, a conveniencia encuestando a 897 personas, el 51,2% eran mujeres, el 55,5% posee un título profesional, 9,8% tiene maestría y 78,5 trabajaba en una empresa privada. Mayoritariamente la muestra trabajaba en una empresa de servicios 79,8% y el 60,5% tiene de 1 a 3 años de atiguedad en su trabajo. Los resultados demostraron que la satisfacción influye positiva y significativamente en el Engagement (0.532; p-value < 0.05); lo que permitió aceptar la hipótesis de la investigación. Los gerentes de las empresas deben preocuparse por los distintos aspectos que afectan la satisfacción de los trabajadores.

This work presents the use of artificial intelligence in multiphase flows, implementing a multilayer perceptron artificial neural network with back-propagation, and using the sigmoid tangent activation function, to generate a predictive model capable of obtaining the holdup of a two-phase flow composed of water and mineral oil in a horizontal pipe of 12 m. The artificial neural network is developed using an input layer, formed by the pressure differential in the line and the superficial velocities of the working fluids, also, it has two hidden layers and an outlet layer, which is made up of the volumetric fractions of the fluids. The best-performing predictive model shows a mean percentage absolute error of 3.07 % and a coefficient of determination R2 of 0.985 using 15 neurons in the two hidden layers of the neural network. The 56 experimental data used in the study were obtained in the laboratory LEMIEESC-USP (Brazil). Resumen Este trabajo presenta el uso de inteligencia artificial en flujos multifásicos, implementando una red neuronal artificial de perceptrón multicapa con retropropagación, y utilizando la función de activación tangente sigmoidea, para generar un modelo predictivo capaz de obtener la fracción volumétrica de un flujo bifásico compuesto por agua y aceite mineral en una tubería horizontal de 12 m. La red neuronal artificial se desarrolla a partir de una capa de entrada, formada por el diferencial de presión en la línea y las velocidades superficiales de los fluidos de trabajo, además, tiene dos capas ocultas y una capa de salida, que está formada por las fracciones volumétricas de los fluidos. El modelo predictivo de mejor rendimiento muestra un error medio porcentual absoluto del 3,07 % y un coeficiente de determinación R 2 de 0,985 utilizando 15 neuronas en las dos capas ocultas de la red neuronal. Los 56 datos experimentales utilizados en el estudio se obtuvieron en el laboratorio LEMI EESC-USP (Brasil).

Hydrodynamic cavitation is a technology recently implemented for industry applications, such as water treatment, biofuel generation or upgrading of heavy crudes. Heavy crudes are characterised by their low API gravity and high viscosity, which results in higher extraction, transport, and refining costs, and a lower selling price due to their lower content of light fractions such as naphtha. Thus, hydrodynamic cavitation reactors are used to cavitate the crude oil and improve viscosity, and the efficiency is highly dependent on the operating parameters, such as inlet pressure, temperature, and percentage of a hydrogen donor. In this work, the effect of temperature on the fluid dynamics of the crude oil inside the Vortex HCR-Nano reactor is analysed, taking as a response variable the volume fraction of vapour. The CFD study was done using Ansys Fluent, with five different temperatures between 92°F and 350°F, 3D steady-state flow modelling for liquid-vapour multiphase fluid, with realisable k-e turbulence model, and Schnerr-Sauer cavitation. Results show that the volume of vapour increases with temperature, up to a volume of 1.507 cm3, where its main contribution is due to the Vortex effect. Further research includes the behaviour of hydrodynamic cavitation with different crude oils and operating parameters. Resumen La cavitación hidrodinámica es una tecnología implementada recientemente para aplicaciones industriales, como el tratamiento de aguas, la generación de biocombustibles o el mejoramiento de los crudos pesados. Los crudos pesados se caracterizan por su baja gravedad API y su alta viscosidad, lo que resulta en un mayor costo de extracción, transporte y refinamiento, y un menor precio de venta por su menor contenido de fracciones livianas como la nafta. Por lo tanto, los reactores de cavitación hidrodinámica se utilizan para cavitar el crudo y mejorar la viscosidad, y la eficiencia depende en gran medida de los parámetros operativos, como la presión de entrada, la temperatura y el porcentaje de un donante de hidrógeno. En este trabajo se analiza el efecto de la temperatura sobre la dinámica de fluidos del crudo en el interior del reactor Vortex HCR-Nano, tomando como variable de respuesta la fracción volumétrica de vapor. El estudio CFD se realizó utilizando Ansys Fluent, con cinco temperaturas diferentes entre 92°F y 350° F, modelado 3D de flujo en estado estacionario para fluido multifásico líquido-vapor, con modelo de turbulencia realisable k-e y cavitación Schnerr-Sauer. Los resultados muestran que el volumen de vapor aumenta con la temperatura hasta, hasta un volumen de 1.507 cm3, donde la principal contribución se debe al efecto Vortex. Investigación adicional incluye el comportamiento de la cavitación hidrodinámica con diferentes crudos y parámetros operativos.

(1) Background: In epidemiological terms, it has been possible to calculate the savings in health resources and the reduction in the health effects of COVID vaccines. Conducting an economic evaluation, some studies have estimated its cost-effectiveness; the vaccination shows highly favorable results, cost-saving in some cases. (2) Methods: Cost-benefit analysis of the vaccination campaign in the North Metropolitan Health Region (Catalonia). An epidemiological model based on observational data and before and after comparison is used. The information on the doses used and the assigned resources (conventional hospital beds, ICU, number of tests) was extracted from administrative data from the largest primary care provider in the region (Catalan Institute of Health). A distinction was made between the social perspective and the health system. (3) Results: the costs of vaccination are estimated at 137 million euros (euro48.05/dose administered). This figure is significantly lower than the positive impacts of the vaccination campaign, which are estimated at 470 million euros (euro164/dose administered). Of these, 18% corresponds to the reduction in ICU discharges, 16% to the reduction in conventional hospital discharges, 5% to the reduction in PCR tests and 1% to the reduction in RAT tests. The monetization of deaths and cases that avoid sequelae account for 53% and 5% of total savings, respectively. The benefit/cost ratio is estimated at 3.4 from a social perspective and 1.4 from a health system perspective. The social benefits of vaccination are estimated at euro116.67 per vaccine dose (euro19.93 from the perspective of the health system). (4) Conclusions: The mass vaccination campaign against COVID is cost-saving. From a social perspective, most of these savings come from the monetization of the reduction in mortality and cases with sequelae, although the intervention is equally widely cost-effective from the health system perspective thanks to the reduction in the use of resources. It is concluded that, from an economic perspective, the vaccination campaign has high social returns.

In the present work we study the influence of the boundary conditions in the stress distribution and the first ply failure of a commercially available multilayer composite pipe using a finite element model. An ASTM D2290 standard test was performed in order to determine the ultimate tensile strength and burst pressure. Also, a tension test performed on a longitudinal strip of the pipe was used to evaluate the elasticity modulus. We compare the experimental results with the numerical model to validate the material model used in the approximation. Hoop and axial stresses were obtained for three different boundary conditions: open ends, fixed ends and closed ends. Diverse failure criteria were considered for the pipes in order to evaluate the first ply failure, and a comparison of failure criteria and boundary conditions was made., En el presente trabajo se estudia la influencia de las condiciones de contorno en la distribución de tensiones y el fallo de la primera capa de un tubo compuesto multicapa comercialmente disponible utilizando un modelo de elementos finitos. Se realizó una prueba estándar ASTM D2290 para determinar la resistencia a la tracción y la presión de estallido. También se utilizó una prueba de tensión realizada sobre una tira longitudinal de la tubería para evaluar el módulo de elasticidad. Comparamos los resultados experimentales con el modelo numérico para validar el modelo de material utilizado en la aproximación. Se obtuvieron tensiones circunferenciales y axiales para tres condiciones de contorno diferentes: extremos abiertos, fijos y cerrados. Se consideraron diversos criterios de falla para las tuberías con el fin de evaluar el fallo de la primera capa, y se hizo una comparación de los criterios de fallo y las condiciones de los límites.
