Anatomic variations in the urogenital tract have generally been diagnosed through intravenous urography as a modality of choice. In recent years, computerized tomography (CT) urogram has replaced the traditional intravenous imaging of the genitourinary tract. Hematuria, tumoral mass, obstructive uropathy, and congenital collecting system abnormalities are indications for CT imaging. In this report, we present a young woman with intermittent right flank pain and recent urinary tract infection. Her history was also positive for spontaneous abortion. She was referred to the Radiology Clinic for a CT urography. Our aim, in this case report, is to highlight the role of CT urography in the early diagnosis of anatomical variations of the urogenital system and appropriate prevention of clinical progression.

Patient compliance following periodontal therapy is extremely important in predicting the prognosis of the disease and maintaining treatment outcomes. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the perception of periodontitis patients about treatment outcomes. A cross-sectional study was conducted among periodontitis patients in a single dental center through a pre-validated questionnaire that was distributed to each participant in the waiting area of periodontal clinics by utilizing a convenience sampling technique. Median and interquartile ranges were used in addition to frequency and percentages. Bivariate analyses were performed using the Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis test. Among the 300 male and female participants, the median score (interquartile range) of the current level of pain revealed that males experienced more pain than females, with a median score of 5 (0–7) for males and 4 (0–6) for women. However, the median (interquartile range) for desired and expected pain levels in both genders was 0 (0–1), 0 (0–4). There were significant differences in median score ratings between males and females for expected, distress, success, and importance levels (p-value < 0.05). Patients with periodontitis provided valuable insights into the experiences of individuals undergoing treatment for periodontal disease, indicating overall patient satisfaction with the expected levels of periodontal outcomes. Background: Lidocaine is a widely known drug used as a topical and local anesthetic and can be used as an antiarrhythmic drug. Lidocaine is relatively more neurotoxic compared to other local anesthetics especially if applied in high concentrations directly to vascular or neural compartments. Many cases were reported with fatal lidocaine toxicity after injection, but lidocaine toxicity due to the topical application or oral ingestion is uncommon. Cases: Two cases of fatal lidocaine intoxication were presented to our center. The first case was a male with a history of multiple drug abuse who suffered from generalized seizures followed by cardiopulmonary arrest after oral ingestion of lidocaine spray. The second case was a female who suffered from generalized seizures followed by cardiopulmonary arrest during committing criminal abortion with the unknown route of administration of lidocaine which was discovered by toxicological analysis. A full autopsy was done in both cases and specimens were taken from both cadavers for both toxicological analysis and histopathological examination. Both autopsy findings and histopathological examination revealed non-specific results, but toxicological examination revealed toxic levels in all specimens. Conclusion: Although the rarity of non-iatrogenic lidocaine intoxication, it should be suspected as the cause of death if victims suffered from seizures during suspicious circumstantial evidence.

The use of the extreme value theory to estimate crashes from traffic conflicts has been gaining popularity in road safety analysis. A recent advancement is the development of Bayesian hierarchical extreme value models (BHEVM) which can combine conflict extremes of different sites and account for non-stationarity and unobserved heterogeneity for crash estimation. This paper investigated the transferability of BHEVM developed based on actual vehicle trajectory data collected from the city of Surrey, Canada to two corridors of signalized intersections in Los Angeles and Georgia, USA. Two approaches were used to transfer the models: (i) through the recalibration of the random error terms and (ii) using informative priors. The results show that the Surrey model is more transferable to Georgia than to Los Angeles, and using informative priors significantly improves the transferability. The results suggest that the BHEVM is transferable if there are similarities in the base and application contexts. L'application de la theorie de valeur extreme pour estimer les collisions attribuables aux conflits de circulation gagne en popularite au niveau de l'analyse de la securite routiere. Un progres recent est le developpement de modeles hierarchiques bayesiens de valeurs extremes (MHBVE) qui peuvent combiner des extremes conflictuels de differents emplacements et tenir compte de la non-stationnarite et de l'heterogeneite non observee pour l'estimation des collisions. Dans le cadre de cette etude, on a examine la transferabilite du MHBVE developpe a partir de donnees reelles de trajectoire des vehicules recueillies par la ville de Surrey, au Canada, et ce, a deux corridors de carrefours signalises a la ville de Los Angeles et dans l'Etat de Georgie, aux Etats-Unis. Deux approches ont ete adoptees pour transferer les modeles : (i) par le recalibrage des termes d'erreur aleatoire et (ii) en utilisant des prealables informatifs. Les resultats montrent que le modele de Surrey est plus transferable a la Georgie qu'a Los Angeles, et l'utilisation de prealables informatifs ameliore considerablement la transferabilite.
