Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is known to modulate the brain excitability and enhance cognitive functions and neuroplasticity, although adherence to its administration in post-stroke rehabilitation is still being understudied. This study set out to develop and content validate a questionnaire to assess clinical physiotherapists’ knowledge, attitude, and practices regarding the use of tDCS following a stroke. In order to gather expert opinion and come to a consensus on a certain topic, the Delphi technique was employed. The measure was validated using both qualitative (cognitive interviewing) and quantitative (content validity) methods on a panel of 32 experts. Calculations were made for the content validity ratio (CVR), content validity index (CVI), item-level CVI (I-CVI), and scale-level CVI universal agreement (S-CVI/UA). A total of 48 interdisciplinary experts in the field of neurosciences were invited. In all, 32 specialists from Neurology, General Medicine, Neurophysiotherapy, and Physiology departments accepted the invitation and provided their opinion for instrument analysis. After two rounds, early iterations of this instrument demonstrated an acceptable CVR value of 1, high overall content validity (S-CVI/UA = 0.86), and high content validity of individual items (I-CVI range: 0.83-1.00). The kappa value varied between 0.75 and 1, which is excellent. Its content is therefore deemed validated. Through an iterative process, its development and assessment revealed strong item-content validity for determining the domains of the questionnaire. Introduction: In Cerebral Palsy (CP), sensory perception is affected in addition to the motor symptoms. Now-a-days, treatment solely focuses on diagnosed motor deficiencies, often overlooking underlying sensory abnormalities and their examination. Therefore, including a clinical sensory examination in the evaluation of children with CP is crucial. Aim: To develop a validated measure for assessing sensory processing among children with CP. Materials and Methods: This study, conducted as part of a Ph.D. research project, employed an exploratory sequential research design. It commenced on March 1, 2020, and concluded on October 18, 2021, at the Physiotherapy Out Patient Department (OPD) of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. Validity tests, including Scale Level Content Validity Index (CVI) and Spearman rank correlation methods, were used alongside other subtests. The study consisted of two phases: Development and Validation. An extensive literature search and parent interviews were conducted to comprehensively understand and collect information on sensory issues. Based on this information, a preliminary questionnaire draft was created. Three categories of validity-content, face, and concurrent-were tested. Content validation involved employing a three-round online Delphi approach. Face validity was assessed through opinions from clinicians regarding the questionnaire's appearance. Concurrent validity was established by comparing the Sensory Outcome Measure (SOM) with the criterion measure scale, Short Sensory Profile (SSP). Results: For all items, Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and item-level CVI values ranged from 0.8 to 1. The overall Scale Level CVI (average) for the scale was 0.890625. Experts exhibited a 96% agreement regarding the appearance of the questionnaire, indicating complete agreement. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient value was 0.866, and the correlation graph indicated a positive association between the two scales in terms of concurrent validity. Conclusion: The Sensory Outcome Measure (SOM) has been developed as a valid scale with high content and face validity, along with excellent concurrent validity. A 51-year-old female reported pain and an erythematous rash on the right side of her face, along with mouth deviation on the left side and inability to close her right eye for 23 days. The blisters ruptured and healed. Later, the patient reported severe pain and stiffness on the right side of her face. The patient was treated conservatively with medication and physiotherapy, which yielded satisfactory results. Varicella-zoster virus reactivation in ganglion in the 6th decade leads to the recurrence of Herpes. Due to their anatomical proximity, the lesion involved both the trigeminal and facial nerves, as we see in this case. It can be associated with many other symptoms and likewise got recognition as the Ramsay James Hunt Syndrome. At present, only 126 cases have been reported, making it quite a rare entity. Apart from management using drugs, physiotherapy also plays a primary role in the recovery of such cases. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a common inner ear disorder, characterized by brief episodes of vertigo caused by changes in head position. The condition can cause significant functional impairment and reduced quality of life. BPPV is especially common among diabetic patients. The Epley–canalith repositioning procedure (CRP) and vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) are two commonly used interventions for the treatment of BPPV. The objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Epley–canalith repositioning procedure (ECRP) and Vestibular Rehabilitation (VR) therapy in the management of vertigo among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. A total of 30 subjects with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, aged between 40 and 65 years, were randomly allocated to either the ECRP or VR therapy groups using a lottery method, and then underwent Epley–canalith repositioning procedure or vestibular rehabilitation therapy, respectively. The outcomes measured by the study were Vertigo Symptom Scale–Short Form (VSS–sf) score and Berg Balance Scale (BBS) score, assessed pre-treatment (pre) and 4 weeks post-treatment (post). The results demonstrated that both ECRP and VR therapy led to improvements in VSS–sf and BBS scores. However, VR therapy was found to be more effective, resulting in a 13.6% higher improvement in VSS–sf scores (p = 0.03) and a 5.1% higher improvement in BBS scores (p = 0.51) compared to ECRP. Both Epley–canalith repositioning procedure and vestibular rehabilitation therapy are effective in managing BPPV in diabetic patients. Although the differences in BBS scores are not statistically significant, VRT demonstrated a trend towards greater improvement. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy can be used by clinicians as another rehabilitation technique for improving vertigo, postural stability, and activity of daily living in diabetic patients with BPPV. Background: The motor disorders of cerebral palsy suffering from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy are associated with sensory perception impairment along with other impairment like cognition, communication, aberrant behavior, brain stems, or a combination of these features. There are several scales available to evaluate muscle tone, balance, gait, motor power, gross motor function and intelligence but no scale is available till date to measure the sensory issues in children of HIE for Indian population. Objectives: The objectives of the study are to measure the sensory issues in children of HIE and to validate the scale for its content, reliability and minimum detectable change (MDC). Methods: In this study there are four phases: First phase is concerned with the development of scale item and its validation. Second phase is to check the reliability of the scale (test re-test reliability and inter rater reliability). In third phase we will estimate standard error of measurement (SEM) and in last fourth phase minimal detectable change (MDC) at 95% Confidence Interval (CI) will be checked. Data analysis: All the items in scale will be check for reliability and criterion-related validity test. Minimum 60 children with HIE will be evaluated with the scale for two times within two weeks to establish testretest reliability. Cronbach's alpha will be use for internal consistency and Intra class correlation coefficient for test retest reliability for determination of the degree of consistency of items present in the scale. Background: Several studies have been performed on soccer kicks and stressed the significance of strength/power and coordination between the agonist and antagonist muscles of the lower limb. Along with accuracy, speed is also an important factor in a successful kick. It is reported that trunk musculature, hip and knee extensors of the non-kicking extremity, and hip adductors of the kicking side have a role in increasing the foot velocity while kicking. Since muscles do not work in isolation while kicking and several muscle groups of the leg and trunk have been reported to have a role in high-speed kicks, therefore measuring the combined strength of the leg, trunk, and arm muscles will be an appropriate method to examine their association with the kicking speed. The aim of this study was to examine the association of the combined strength of the lower extremities, back, chest, and arm muscles with the kicking speed of soccer players., Methods: Forty male soccer players (mean age 15.7 years) participated in the study. The back-leg-chest (BLC) dynamometer (Baseline, New York, NY, USA) and the mobile camera measured isometric muscle strength and kicking speed, respectively. The BLC dynamometer measured the isometric strength of the knee, hip, back extensors, and arm muscles. The kicking speed was measured by asking participants to kick a football in three directions - right, middle, and left - from 11 meters., Results: Significant (P<0.001) negative correlations of isometric strength of the back, leg, chest, and arm muscles and kicking speeds were found in all three directions. In all three correlations, Pearson's correlation coefficient was -0.989. Simple linear regression results showed that 97.8% (adjusted R 2 ) of the variance observed in kicking speed (KS; RT), KS (MD), and KS (LT), was explained by the movement in BLC muscle strength values., Conclusions: Kicking speeds in the right, middle, and left directions were negatively associated with the isometric strengths of the back, leg, chest, and arms muscles, measured using the BLC dynamometer, in participating soccer players.
