In this paper, we first obtain two weighted identities for twice partially differentiable mappings. Moreover, utilizing these equalities, we establish the weighted Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities and weighted Simpson type inequalities for co-ordinated convex functions in a rectangle from the plane R-2 , respectively. Lifetimes of excited states in the yrast band of the neutron-deficient nuclide 166W have been measured utilizing the DPUNS plunger device at the target position of the JUROGAM II γ -ray spectrometer in conjunction with the RITU gas-filled separator and the GREAT focal-plane spectrometer. Excited states in 166W were populated in the 92Mo(78Kr,4p) reaction at a bombarding energy of 380 MeV. The measurements reveal a low value for the ratio of reduced transitions probabilities for the lowest-lying transitions B(E2; 4+ → 2+)/B(E2; 2+ → 0+) = 0.33(5), compared with the expected ratio for an axially deformed rotor (B4/2 = 1.43). peerReviewed

The observation of the decay of excited states via gamma radiation are reported for the first time and a tentative level scheme is proposed. The proposed level scheme is discussed within the context of the systematics of neighboring neutron-deficient Hg nuclei. In addition to the gamma-ray spectroscopy, the alpha decay of this nucleus has been measured yielding superior precision to earlier measurements.

The alpha-decay chains originating from the pi s(1/2) and pi h(11/2) states in Au-173 have been investigated following fusion-evaporation reactions. Four generations of alpha radioactivities have been correlated with Au-173(m) leading to a measurement of the alpha decay of Ta-161(m). It has been found that the known alpha decay of Ta-161, which was previously associated with the decay of the ground state, is in fact the decay of an isomeric state. This work also reports on the first observation of prompt gamma rays feeding the ground state of Au-173. This prompt gamma radiation was used to aid the study of the alpha-decay chain originating from the pi s(1/2) state in Au-173. Three generations of alpha decays have been correlated with this state, leading to the observation of a previously unreported activity which is assigned as the decay of Re-165(g). This work also reports the excitation energy of an alpha-decaying isomer in Ta-161 and the Q(alpha) value of the decay of Ta-161(g). DOI:10.1103/PhysRevC.86.064315

Low-energy magnetic and electric dipole excitations in the even-even isotopes I76-180Hf have been systematically studied within the rotational, translational and Galilean invariant Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). The results of the calculations show that most of the states predicted to have magnetic character and the computed M1 strength in these nuclei is less strongly fragmented than in mid-shell isotopes. The results of the calculations are in good agreement with experimental data. The results of the calculations indicate the presence of a few prominent negative parity dipole K = 1 states in the energy investigated region. The comparison of the calculations with the available experimental data makes possible the interpretation of the states where parity could not be assigned experimentally. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. In this work, we have determined the Nilsson quantum numbers of the ground state of the odd-odd Pr-138,Pr-140 nucleus for the first time. To achieve it, several low energy neutron-proton two quasiparticle levels have been calculated in Pr-138,Pr-140 nuclei using deformed Woods-Saxon potential basis. The Gamov-Teller beta(+) decay transition matrix elements from these levels to the ground state of the neighbor Ce-138,Ce-140 nuclei and log ft values have been calculated. From the comparison of theoretical and experimental log ft values and neutron-proton K quantum numbers the ground state Nilsson quantum numbers of the odd-odd isotopes have been determined as {n[402]3/2-p[413]5/2}(1)+ for two isotopes.

In this study, the quadrupole moments of the Hf166-180, W180-186 and Sm152-168 isotopic chains have been calculated by using the Woods-Saxon mean field potential in the framework of the superfluid model of the atomic nucleus. Our calculation showed that the deformation parameter mainly used in literature overestimates the actual values of deformation parameters beta(2) by 10% for the well-deformed rare-earth nuclei. Besides, the contribution of the hexadecapole deformation to all quadrupole moments in question is smaller than 0.01 barn. The results showed that the theoretical values of the quadrupole moments are in good agreement with the previous theoretical works which have been done only for Sm isotopes and the corresponding experimental data for nuclei in question. The best theoretical value for quadrupole moment has been reached for the Sm-152 isotope.

In this paper, the first measurement of (222)Rn concentrations in drinking water from wells, springs and bottled waters in the city of Sakarya, Turkey was presented. The measurements were performed using RAD 7, a solid-state alpha detector, with RAD H2O (radon in water) accessory manufactured by Durridge Company, Inc. The measured activity concentrations ranged from 1.98 to 20.80 Bq l(-1) with an average value of 9.05 Bq l(-1) for well water, from 0.75 to 59.65 Bq l(-1) with an average value of 13.78 Bq l(-1) for spring water and from 0.75 to 22.8 Bq l(-1) with an average value of 5.41 Bq l(-1) for bottled water. Although these results indicated relatively high (222)Rn concentrations compared with that from other parts of the Turkey, they are still below the World Health Organization recommended level of 100 Bq l(-1) for radon. Using the measured activities of (222)Rn, the age-dependent associated committed effective doses due to the ingestion of (222)Rn as a consequence of direct consumption of drinking water were calculated. The committed effective doses from (222)Rn were estimated to range from 2.59 to 205.97 µSv y(-1), from 1.55 to 123.28 µSv y(-1) and from 1.31 to 104.48 µSv y(-1) for age groups 1-2, 8-12 and >17 y, respectively.

Soil gas radon activity measurements were made around the western section of the North Anatolian Fault Zone. In the study, the variation of radon concentration at 12 different locations along the fault line was monitored by using LR-115 (solid-state nuclear track detectors) detectors for 12-monthly periods. Twelve radon stations were determined in the study region, and in each station, LR-115 films were installed in the borehole of similar to 50 cm. The recorded radon concentration varies from 29 to 7059 Bqm(-3) with an average value of 1930 Bqm(-3). The influence of meteorological parameters such as temperature, pressure, total rainfall and humidity on soil radon concentrations in the study area was also investigated. The positive and poor correlation was observed between average value of 222Rn concentration and temperature. There is a reverse proportion between radon level with other meteorological factors (humidity, pressure and rainfall). The results show that the measured soil gas radon activity concentration shows seasonal variation in a highly permeable sandy-gravelly soil with definite seasons without obvious long transitional periods. The summer (from June 2013 to September 2013) is characterised by 1.8 times higher average soil gas radon activity concentration (median is 2.372 kBqm(-3)) than the winter (from December 2012 to March 2013) (median is 1.298 kBqm(-3)).

In this study, I-pi = 1(+) and I-pi = 1(-) dipole mode excitations are systematically investigated within the rotational and translational + Galilean invariant quasiparticle random-phase approximation for Th-232, U-236, and U-238 actinide nuclei. It is shown that the investigated nuclei reach a B(M1) strength structure, which corresponds to the scissors mode. The calculated mean excitation energies as well as the summed B(M1) value of the scissors mode excitations are consistent with the available experimental data. The results of calculations indicate large differences to the rare-earth nuclei as is the case for the experiment: a doubling of the observed dipole strengths and a shift of the energy centroid to the lower energies by about 800 keV. The calculations indicate the presence of a few prominent negative-parity K-pi = 1(-) states in the 2.0-4.0 MeV energy interval. The occurrence of the negative-parity dipole states with the rather high B(E1) value less than 4 MeV shows the necessity of explicit parity measurements for the correct determination of the scissors mode strength in Th-232, U-236, and U-238 isotopes.

In this study, the result of calculations using rotational, translational and Galilean invariant quasiparticle random-phase approximation is presented for the low-lying dipole excitations in the even-even 160Gd nucleus. Calculations are carried out for both ΔK=1 and ΔK=0 branches. The analysis shows that the main part of spin-1 states, observed at energy 2.4–4 MeV in 160Gd, have M1 character and are interpreted as main fragments of the scissors mode. The calculations indicate the presence of a few prominent negativeparity dipole ΔK=1 states in the investigated energy region, in agreement with experiment.

In this study the QRPA approach with the rotational and translational invariant Hamiltonians has been carried out to describe magnetic and electric dipole excitations in 176Hf . Calculations show that the 176Hf nucleus demonstrates a very rich B(M1) strength structure and in some aspects nicely confirm the experimental data. It has been shown that the main part of spin-1 states, observed at 2-4MeV in 176Hf , may be attributed to have a M1 character and may be interpreted as the main fragments of the scissors mode. The agreement between the calculated mean excitation energies as well as the summed B(M1) values of the scissors mode excitations and the available experimental data is quite good. The constructive interference between the orbit and the spin part of M1 strength has been found to be below 3.5MeV. The calculations indicate the presence of a few prominent negative-parity $\ensuremath K^{\pi} = 1^{-}$ states in the 2-4MeV energy interval. This suggests that the supposition of the experiment “all stronger $ \Delta$ K = 1 low-lying dipole excitations were of magnetic character” cannot be generalized.

The calculations indicate the presence of a few prominent negative parity K-pi = 1(-) states in 2 divided by 4 MeV energy interval in Gd154-160.
