Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes a gradual loss of cognitive functions and limits daily activities performance. Early diagnosis of AD is essential to start timely treatment. This study aimed to validate the Uniform Data Set neuropsychological battery version 3.0 (UDS 3.0) in a Colombian cohort.This study is a cross-sectional type, consecutive, incidental, with 143 persons, divided into two groups: 48 diagnosed AD cases and 95 healthy controls, between the ages of 50 and 80+, and between 1 and 19+ years of education.The results indicate differences between the control group and the AD group in most battery tests. A significant correlation was found between the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Multilingual Naming Test (MINT), Craft Story, Benson Figure Test, P-word and F-word Phonemic Fluency Test, and their respective reference tests. Cutoff points were found based on the Youden index for each sub-test. The results indicate that all sub-tests are above the reference line of the ROC curve.The use of the UDS 3.0 in Colombia would help improving clinical diagnostic routes because of its high accuracy and high correlation with tests that measure general impairment; it has good sensitivity and specificity, and it can be a useful tool for AD.

Introducción: La diabetes mellitus de tipo 2 (DM2) es una enfermedad metabólica crónica con repercusiones importantes en la vida de los pacientes que la presentan; su control metabó-lico es fundamental para disminuir los índices de morbimortalidad, que dependen de factores fisiológicos, económicos, sociales y psicológicos. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la asociación entre los factores psicológicos y el control metabólico de pacientes con DM2. Disorder Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is recognized as one of the pathologies of high prevalence in children and adolescents from the global environment population; this disorder generates visible symptoms usually diminish with the passage of time in adulthood, however they remain concealed by demonstrations damnifican personal stability and human development apt. This article shows the results of the research aimed at determining the prevalence of symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Young Adults University of Barranquilla and its Metropolitan Area. The sample of 1600 young adults between 18 and 25 years, which has been estimated at 95% confidence level and a margin of error of 2.44%. The information was acquired through the application of exploratory instruments symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. With the application of the algorithm different machine learning algorithms such as: Bagging, MultiBoostAB, DecisionStump, LogitBoost, FT, J48Graft, a high performance in the Bagging algorithm could be identified with the following results in quality metrics: Accuracy 91.67%, Precision 94.12%, Recall 88.89% and F-measure 91.43%.

Dementia can be considered as a decrease in the cognitive function of the person. The main diseases that appear are Alzheimer and vascular dementia. Today, 47 million people live with dementia around the world. The estimated total cost of dementia worldwide is US $ 818 billion, and it will become a trilliondollar disease by 2019 The vast majority of people with dementia not received a diagnosis, so they are unable to access care and treatment. In Colombia, two out of every five people presented a mental disorder at some point in their lives and 90% of these have not accessed a health service. Here it´s proposed a technological platform so early detection of Alzheimer. This tool complements and validates the diagnosis made by the health professional, based on the application of Machine Learning techniques for the analysis of a dataset, constructed from magnetic resonance imaging, neuropsychological test and the result of a radiological test. A comparative analysis of quality metrics was made, evaluating the performance of different classifier methods: Random subspace, Decorate, BFTree, LMT, Ordinal class classifier, ADTree and Random forest. This allowed us to identify the technique with the highest prediction rate, that was implemented in ENKEPHALON platform.

El Cambridge Mindreading Test – CAM es un instrumento utilizado en la evaluación de la cognición social y Teoría de la Mente (ToM). Sin embargo, a pesar de ser ampliamente utilizado en la evaluación de dichas habilidades, se dispone de muy pocos estudios que den cuenta de las puntuaciones normativas en población de habla hispana. El objetivo del estudio fue obtener los datos normativos del Cambridge Mindreading Test-CAM, en una población de adultos jóvenes entre los 18 y 35 años de la ciudad de Barranquilla, Colombia. De los 384 sujetos sanos tomados de la población general, fueron evaluados mediante el Cambridge Mindreading Test – CAM en su versión adaptada al español de 50 ítems por la escuela Argentina de Neurociencias. Se obtuvieron puntuaciones de medias generales de acuerdo a nivel de escolaridad, género y estrato socioeconómico. La puntuación media general de aciertos obtenida para el CAM – Test, fue de 29, 40 con desviación estándar de 5,69. No se observaron diferencias significativas de acuerdo a género y estrato socioeconómico. Se obtuvieron puntuaciones específicas de acuerdo a estrato socioeconómico y de género. Se aportaron datos normativos del CAM-Test en su versión adaptada al español para la población de adultos jóvenes, a partir de la evaluación de sujetos sin patologías, de acuerdo a nivel de escolaridad, género y estrato socioeconómico. The Cambridge Mindreading Test - CAM is one of the most used instruments in the assessment of social cognition and the Theory of Mind (ToM). However, despite being widely used in the evaluation of these skills, there are very few studies that inquires into the normative scores in the Spanish-speaking population. The aim of this paper is to present the normative data of the Cambridge Mindreading Test-CAM, in a population of young adults in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia. 384 healthy subjects taken from the general population between 18 and 35 years old, were evaluated through the Cambridge Mindreading Test - CAM in its 50 ítems Spanish version adapted by the Escuela Argentina de Neurociencias. Average scores are obtained according to level of schooling, gender and socioeconomic status. The general average score of correct answers obtained for the CAM-Test, was of 29.40 with standard deviation of 5.69. No significant differences were observed according to gender and socioeconomic status. Specific scores were obtained according to socioeconomic status and gender. The normative data of the CAM-Test in its Spanish version for the population of young adults are provided, from the evaluation of subjects without pathologies, according to level of schooling, gender and socioeconomic status.

Resumen Objetivo: La fibromialgia (FM) es un síndrome de dolor crónico generalizado, asociado a alteraciones emocionales y comportamentales. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar los síntomas afectivo-conductuales y las estrategias cognitivas de afrontamiento en la percepción de dolor de pacientes con FM. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de corte transversal, con análisis de casos y controles, con una muestra de dos grupos de mujeres, en la ciudad de Barranquilla (Colombia): 34 con diagnóstico de FM y 30 controles, a quienes se les realizó evaluación de síntomas psicológicos y de percepción de dolor. Resumen Esta investigación se propuso encontrar la posible relación entre el rendimiento académico y la ausencia de ciertas habilidades cognoscitivas denominadas desde la neuropsicología como funciones ejecutivas, en un grupo de estudiantes universitarios. Se exploró entonces el estado de las funciones ejecutivas en estudiantes universitarios que presentaban bajo y alto rendimiento académico. El diseño utilizado en esta investigación fue el transeccional descriptivo. El análisis de los resultados se hizo utilizando el paquete estadístico Statistical Package for Social Sciences (spss). Estos mostraron que, en general, no existen diferencias significativas entre los estudiantes de bajo y alto rendimiento académico. Es decir, mostraron que el rendimiento académico no está directamente relacionado con déficits a nivel de las habilidades ejecutivas, pero sí podría estarlo a nivel del lenguaje y de los antecedentes familiares, psicológicos y académicos en estos estudiantes. Abstract This research was aimed at finding the possible relationship between bad academic achievements and deficit of some executive functions in a group of university students. The state of the executive functions was explored in students obtaining low and students obtaining high academic achievements. The research was conducted following a descriptive transectional design. The results of the research were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). They showed that, in general, concerning the state of the executive functions there are no significant differences between the students with low and those with high academic achievements. Thus, they showed that academic achievements are not directly related to the state of executive skills, but more specifically to the students’ language skills and their family, personal and academic backgrounds.
