Väitekiri „Liivi kirjakeele kujunemine“ jälgib liivi kirjakeele arenemist alates esimeste liivikeelsete raamatute ilmumisest kuni viimaste katkematut kirjakeele traditsiooni jätkanud liivikeelsete allikateni. Ajaliselt hõlmab see ajavahemikku alates 1863. aastast kuni aastani 1982. Liivi kirjakeele arengu kajastamisel lähtub uurimus kahest aspektist. Esimeseks on kirjakeele ja selle allikate kujunemislugu – ajalooline taust, allikate valmimise käigus osalenud isikud ja erinevad allikate väljaandmisega seotud asjaolud. Teiseks aspektiks on allikates kasutatud keeleliste iseärasuste väljaselgitamine ja kõrvutamine eesmärgiga saada ülevaade liivi kirjakeele arendamisel toimunud üldisest arengust ja kasutatud põhimõtetest, milleks on kasutatud 23 liivi kirjakeelega seotud fonoloogia-, morfoloogia- ja leksikaalast tunnusjoont. Kokku on vaadeldud 29 allikat, sh 19 trükist, 2 perioodilist väljaannet, 6 käsikirja ja 2 tundmatut käsikirja, mille olemasolu kohta on andmeid, kuid mida ei ole seni õnnestunud tuvastada. Samuti sisaldab uurimus kokkuvõtte varasematest liivi kirjakeele alal tehtud ja liivi kirjakeele allikaid uurimismaterjalina kasutanud uurimustest ja pärast 1982. aastat ilmunud kirjakeelsetest väljaannetest. Uurimus annab üksikasjaliku ülevaate iga selles vaadeldud liivi kirjakeele allika kujunemisloost ja selles kasutatud keelelistest põhimõtetest, lisaks esitab see ka kirjakeele üldist arengut iseloomustava koondkokkuvõte kõikide uurimuses vaadeldud tunnuste lõikes., The thesis „Development of Livonian literary language” discusses the history and development of Livonian literary language from the first publications to present times, covering the period between 1863 and 1982. The discussion covers two major facets of the subject: the first is the creation of the literary Livonian language and its sources – the socio-historical background, the individuals who created the written sources and the various publishing circumstances; secondly, the study concentrates on delineating and comparing the peculiarities of language used in the sources in order to get an overview about the general develop¬ments in the process of creating literary Livonian and the principles that have been applied in the course of that process. The 23 identifiers of phonology, morphology and lexicology have been used for this reason. The corpus of work is comprised of 29 sources all together, including 19 publications, 2 periodic publications, 6 manuscripts and data on 2 missing manuscripts. The thesis also includes a summary of previous research on Livonian literary language, its sources and the publications in Livonian that have been issued since the year 1982. The research gives a separate, in-depth overview of each source of literary Livonian language and the linguistic principals used in them, also presenting a summary of the general development of the written language from all the aspects of the identifiers examined in the thesis.

Bībeles tulkojumi daudzām pasaules valodām ir snieguši jaunu, unikālu vārdu un jēdzienu krājumu. Pateicoties tās tulkojumiem, valodā ienākuši arī ikdienā bieži lietoti frazeoloģismi. Igauņu folklorists Arvo Krikmans ir identificējis šādus frazeoloģismus igauņu valodā. Bakalaura darbā “Lībiešu valodas frazeoloģismi Jaunās Derības “Ūž Testament” 1942. gada izdevumā”, kuram par pamatu ņemts minētais Arvo Krikmana pētījums, autore centusies apzināt, vai šādi frazeoloģismi varētu būt sastopami arī lībiešu valodā, pirms tajā tapis Bībeles tulkojums. Darbā izvirzīta hipotēze, ka šādi no Jaunās Derības cēlušies frazeoloģismi ar starpniekvalodu varētu būt ienākuši arī lībiešu ikdienas valodā un tādējādi būtu atrodami O. Loritsa lībiešu teiku vākumā. Pētījuma gaitā, izmantojot vārdu biežuma metodi, tika atlasīti frazeoloģismi, identificēti to atslēgvārdi un meklētas to iespējamās atbilsmes teiku korpusā. Pētījuma rezultāti vedina domāt, ka kanoniskā tekstā atrodamu frazeoloģismu ienākšanai ikdienas valodā nepietiek ar frazeoloģisma aktīvu lietojumu starpniekvalodā, tā priekšnoteikums ir kanoniskā teksta tulkojuma esamība un aktīva lietošana pašā valodā., Translations of the Bible into many languages of the world have provided a new, unique set of words and concepts. Thanks to its translations, frequently used phraseological units have also entered the language. Estonian folklorist Arvo Krikmann has identified such units in Estonian. In her bachelor's thesis “Livonian Phraseology in the New Testament's “Ūž Testament” 1942 Edition”, which is based on the above-mentioned study by Arvo Krikmann, the author has tried to discover whether such phraseological units could also be found in Livonian before the Bible translation. The paper hypothesises that such New Testament phraseological units could have entered the everyday language of Livonians through an intermediate language and thus could be found in the collection of O. Loorits Livonian folktales. During the research, phraseological units were selected using the word frequency method, their keywords were identified and their possible matches in the body of folktales corpus were searched. The results of the research suggest that the active use of phraseology in the intermediate language is not enough for the entry of phraseological units in the canonical text into everyday language, its precondition is the existence of a translation of the canonical text and its active use in the language itself. Bakalaura darbs „Pētera Damberga (1909–1987) lībiešu vietvārdu vākums” ir veltīts vietvārdiem un ģeogrāfiskās nomenklatūras vārdiem lībiešu valodā. Darbs ir jauns pētījums onomastikas, īpaši lībiešu onomastikas, nozarē, jo šis vietvārdu vākums pētīts pirmo reizi. Darba uzdevumos ietilpa apskatīt vietvārdu pētīšanas teorētisko literatūru; apkopot līdzšinējos lībiešu onomastikas pētījumus un raksturot specifiku; analizēt pētījuma objektu un izveidot šī vietvārdu vākuma ģeogrāfiskās nomenklatūras vārdu sarakstu. Izmantota aprakstošā, vēsturiskā un klasifikācijas pētījumu metode. Pētījumā analizētas 1025 vietvārdu vienības un apkopoti 56 ģeogrāfiskie apelatīvi, tos sistematizējot pēc objekta veida un rakstura un izveidojot lībiešu ģeogrāfiskās nomenklatūras vārdu sarakstu., The bachelor’s thesis “The Collection of Livonian Place Names by Pētõr Damberg (1909–1987)” is dedicated to place names and geographical nomenclature words in the Livonian language. The work is a new study in the field of onomastics, especially Livonian onomastics, as this collection of place names has now been studied for the first time. Tasks to conduct the research for this bachelor’s thesis were as follows: to look at the theoretical literature from research done on place names; to summarise the previous studies of Livonian onomastics and to describe the specifics; to analyse the research object and to create a list of words of the geographical nomenclature of this place names’ collection Descriptive, historical and classification research methods were used. In this bachelor’s thesis 1025 place name units were analysed and 56 geographical appellatives were summarised, systematising them by the type and nature of the object and creating a list of words in the Livonian geographical nomenclature.
