Conclusion: In this study, it was detected that burnout in nurses affected compassion satisfaction and individual success negatively.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the effect of kinesiophobia on daily and sport activities. We compared Tampa scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) with Tagner Activity score (TAS). We hypothesized that high level of Tampa scale of Kinesiophobia decreases Tagner Activity score. Materyal Methods:A total of 50 patients, with Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery from January 2010 and December 2016 were included in this study. The patients completed the Lysholm Knee, TAS and TSK questionnaires postoperatively. KT-1000 arthrometer at 30 degrees knee flexion performed for both knees. The TSK score was compared with TAS and Lyshman knee score. Results:Mean age was 29.6 (18-50). Minimum follow-up was 12 months. Twenty of 50 patients (%40) had meniscal tears. The TAShad negative and significant correlation with TSK. Higher TSKled to lower TASand lower TSKled to higher TAS.There was no difference in Lysholm and TAS compared to TSKin patient with or without meniscal tear.Conclusion Our study showed that knee functions are not the only indicator to return preinjury daily and sport activities. Kinesiophobia may also play a significant role even if the Lyshman knee score is higher. The patients with Anterior cruciate ligamentinjury must be warned about the kinesiophobia. In our opinion, all the patients with Anterior cruciate ligamentruptures should have a kinesiophobia test. The patients who have high rate of kinesiophobia preoperatively, shouldhave a psychotherapy postoperatively in addition to their physical therapy., Amaç :Kinezyofobi’nin gündelik ve sportif aktivitelerin üzerindeki rolünü, Tempa Kinezyofobi skorunu (TSK) Tagner aktivite skoru (TAS) üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmaya amaçladık. Hipotez: Yüksek Tempa Kinezyofobi skoru Tagner aktivite skorunu düşürür. Materyal Metod: Ocak 2010-Aralık 2016 yılları arasında önçapraz bağ rekonstrüksiyonu yapılan 50 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Tüm hastalara Lysholm diz skorlaması, Tagner aktivite skorlaması ve Tempa Kinezyofobi skorlaması yapıldı. Hastaların her iki dizine 30 derecede KT-1000 artrometreuygulandı. Tempa Kinezyofobi skoru, Tagner aktivite skoru ve Lysholm knee skoru ile karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar: Hastaların ortalama yaşı 29.6 (18-50) ve minimum takip süreleri 12 ay idi. Hastaların 20’sinde (%40) aynı zamanda menisküs yırtığı mevcuttu. Tagner aktivite skoru, Tempa Kinezyofobi skoru ile anlamlı olarak negatif bir korelasyon olduğu görüldü. Yüksek Tempa kinezyofobi skoru olan hastalarda Tegner aktivite skoru düşük, düşük Tempa kinezyofobi skoru olan hastalarda Tegner aktivite skoru anlamlı olarak yükek olduğu görüldü. İstatistiksel olarak TKS ve TAS Lysholm skorları arasında, menisküs yırtığı olan ve olmayan hastalar arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı. Çıkarım:Çalışmamız diz fonksiyonlarının, istenilen düzeyde olması, yaralanma öncesi gündelik aktivite ve sportif aktiviteye geri dönüş için yeterli olmadığını gösterdi. Lysholm skoru yüksek olsa bile Kinezyofobini sportif aktiviteye geri dönüşte önemli rol oynamaktadır. Calismamiz sonuclarina gore, tüm ön çapraz bağ yırtığı için opere edilecek hastaların kinezyofobi hakkında bilgilendirilmesini ve testin yapılmasını, ayrıca, yüksek kinezyofobi skoru olan hastalara fizik tedavinin yanında psikolojik terapi almaları öneririz.

Objective We aimed to present the outcomes of primer aneurysmal bone (PABC) cysts ( Sakarya Med J, 2018, 8(3):593-602 ).Materials andMethodsOne hundred patients with PABC were included in this study. We investigated age, sex, location, treatment technique and recurrence ratesResults Forty-fi ve patients were female and 55 patients were male. The mean age was 22 (4-56). %54 (54) of the patients were on the fi rst and second decade. %22 (22) lesions were located in upper extremity, %55 (55) were in lower extremity and 23 (23) were in pelvis and vertebra.Fifty-seven were treated by curettage with or without bone grafting, 31 with curettage and cementation and 12 with resection. The meanfollow-up period was 64,6 months (25-120). All of the lesions were PABC.The total recurrence was 16 (%16). Fifteen recurrences were seen in the fi rst two year. Eight of them were in the lower extremity, 5 of themwere upper extremity, 3 recurrences were at the pelvis. One of the recurrence was seen at the fi rst decade, 8 of the recurrences were seenat the second decade, 6 of the recurrences were seen at the third decade and 1 of the recurrence was seen at the fourth decade. %21.05 ofthe patients who were treated by curettage with or without grafting had recurrence. %12.90 of the patients who were treated by curettageand cementation had recurrence. Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) is an important clinic problem. It is assessed that prevalence of chronic pain extends to 30% but it is contended that there are various risk factors. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence of chronic pain after hysterectomy, risk factors of chronicity, neuropathic features of pain, and sensorial alterations at surgery area. Between years 2012 and 2015, 16 to 65 ages old patients that electively undergone total abdominal hysterectomy bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and passed minimum 3 months after surgery were included to study. Visual analog scale (VAS) and Douleur Neuropathique 4-questionnaire (DN-4) surveys were used to evaluate pain symptoms, algometry device was used for evaluating abdominal pressure threshold and Von Frey Filament was used for sensorial alterations. Ninety-three of 165 eligible patients were included to study. As the groups were compared by demographic data, no difference was obtained (P > 0.05). There was no difference between groups regarding patient and surgery attributes (P > 0.05). Most frequently performed incision type was Pfannenstiel. Neuropathic symptoms were observed in 90 patients (96.8%). Sensorial alterations as hypoesthesia and hyperesthesia were detected around abdominal scar in 18 patients (19.4%) with pinprick test. Neuropathic symptoms should not be ignored in studies evaluating CPSP and a standard methodology should be designed for studies in this topic.

Objectives: We evaluated the intraocular pressure (IOP) after trans-Tenon retrobulbar injections of triamcinolone acetonide (TTTA) in patients with with diffuse diabetic macular edema. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 30 eyes of 21 consecutive patients (12 females, 9 males; mean age 63.7±6.92 years; range 49 to 77 years) who received a single dose of 20 mg TTTA injection for diffuse diabetic macular edema. Intraocular pressures were evaluated before and one week, one month, and three months after the injection. Results: Elevation of the IOP occurred only during the first week after TTTA injections. These rises returned to normal values with topical antiglaucoma medications. Improvements in visual acuity were significant at one month and three months. Conclusion: It was concluded that single-dose 20 mg TTTA injection was a safe and effective treatment in diffuse diabetic macular edema. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors for distal symmetric sensory-motor polyneuropathy (DSP) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).Sixty seven patients with type 2 DM (33 males and 34 females) were included in the study. In addition to a detailed neurological examination, the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument was administered to all patients and their total neuropathy scores were calculated. Nerve conduction examinations were performed for all patients.The mean age of the patients was 52.83±.87 years. The mean glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C) value was 8.56±2.07% (normal: 3-6.5%). The total neuropathy score significantly correlated with diabetes duration, hypertension, retinopathy, and HbA1C.This study confirms the previous reports regarding the association of neuropathy with poor glycaemic control and duration of the disease. The association of neuropathy with retinopathy and hypertension is important.Bu çalışmada tip 2 diyabetes mellituslu (DM) hastalarda distal simetrik sensori-motor polinöropati (DSP) için risk faktörlerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.Tip 2 DM olan 34’ü kadın, 33’ü erkek olmak üzere 67 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Hastaların ayrıntılı nörolojik muayeneleri yapılıp, Michigan Nöropati Değerlendirme Ölçeği’nin Nöropati Tarama Anketi uygulandı ve total nöropati skorları hesaplandı. Polinöropati protokolüne uygun olarak sinir iletim çalışmaları yapıldı.Hastalar 32–77 yaş arasındaydı ve yaş ortalamaları 54,57±8,64 idi. Ortalama glikolize hemoglobin (HbA1C) değerleri %8,32±1,81 (normal: %3–6,5) idi. Total nöropati skoru, diyabet süresi, nöropatik semptom süresi, hipertansiyon, retinopati ve HbA1C değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptandı.

Aim: The study, patients undergoing coronary bypass was planned to determine the quality of life.Material andMethods:Working in a teaching and research hospital in the last 6 months underwent coronary bypasssurgery and were discharged educational brochure given in June 2014 - March 2015 whileparticipating in the study enrolled 119 patients between clinic that accepts checks. Patientswere developed by the Rand Corporation to assess the demographic form and the quality oflife, and the Turkish reliability and validity study conducted by Koçyiğit Short Form-36 scalewas used and colleagues.Results: 119 patients were included in the research performed bypass surgery. The SF-36 quality oflife scale, physical component summary quality of life mean score 41.70 ± 6.14 and mentalcomponent summary scores were found. Eating style is one of the prominente factors that determine energy intake. One of the influencing factors that determine parental feeding style is parental perception of the weight status of the child.The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between maternal visual perception of their children's weight status and their feeding style.A cross-sectional survey was completed with only mother's of 380 preschool children with age of 5 to 7 (6.14 years). Visual perception scores were measured with a sketch and maternal feeding style was measured with validated "Parental Feeding Style Questionnaire".The parental feeding dimensions "emotional feeding" and "encouragement to eat" subscale scores were low in overweight children according to visual perception classification. "Emotional feeding" and "permissive control" subscale scores were statistically different in children classified as correctly perceived and incorrectly low perceived group due to maternal misperception.Various feeding styles were related to maternal visual perception. The best approach to preventing obesity and underweight may be to focus on achieving correct parental perception of the weight status of their children, thus improving parental skills and leading them to implement proper feeding styles.Introducción: El estilo de alimentación es uno de los factores prominentes que determina la ingesta de energía. Uno de los factores que influyen en el estilo de alimentación paterna es la percepción de los padres del estado de peso del niño. Objetivo: El propósito de este estudio fue evaluar la relación entre la percepción visual de la madre del estado de peso de su hijo y su estilo de alimentación. Método: Se realizó un estudio transversal con madres de 380 niños preescolares de 5 a 7 (6,14 años). Las puntuaciones de la percepción visual se midieron mediante unos dibujos y el estilo de alimentación materna se medió con el cuestionario validado “Parental Feeding Style Questionnaire”. Resultados: Las puntuaciones de las subescalas de las dimensiones de alimentación parental “alimentación emocional” y “animar a comer” eran bajas en niños con sobrepeso de acuerdo con la clasificación de la percepción visual. Las puntuaciones de las subescalas “alimentación emocional” y “control permisivo” eran estadísticamente distintas en los niños clasificados como correctamente percibidos e incorrectamente percibidos bajos por una mala percepción materna. Conclusión: Diversos estilos de alimentación se relacionaban con la percepción visual materna. El mejor abordaje para evitar la obesidad y el peso bajo podría estar en centrarse en conseguir una correcta percepción parental del estado de peso de sus hijos, mejorando así las habilidades paternas y conllevando la implantación de unos estilos de alimentación adecuados.

DISCUSSION: The age and sex of the patient should be taken into account when considering appendicitis surgery to improve the accuracy of the diagnosis. In addition, the histopathology of appendicitis is influenced by familial and environmental factors.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada harmonik bıçak ve soğuk bıçak tonsillek- tomi teknikleri ameliyat süresi, kanama miktarı ve ameliyat sonrası ağrı açısından karşılaştırıldı. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Ocak 2014 - Mart 2014 tarihleri arasında kliniğimizde harmonik bıçak veya soğuk bıçak ton- sillektomi uygulanan 40 hastanın (21 erkek, 19 kız; ort. yaş 6.8 yıl; dağılım 3-15 yıl) kayıtları retrospektif olarak incelen- di. Patients and Methods: Records of 40 patients (21 males, 19 females; mean age 6.8 years; range 3 to 15 years) who underwent harmonic scalpel or cold knife tonsillectomy at our clinic between January 2014 and March 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Both groups were compared in terms of intra- and postoperative bleeding amount, duration of operation, and pain scores at days 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of duration of operation, intra- and postoperative bleeding amount, and pain scores. Conclusion: Harmonic scalpel is a helpful surgical instrument, which can be used safely by experienced otolaryngologists in tonsillectomy procedures, reducing bleeding and decreasing duration of operation.

Objective: To determine the variety and frequency of ocular problems in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Materials and Methods: A total of 46 children with CP and 50 healthy children were included in the study. The age range of the children was between 5 months and 15 years. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine seroprevalence of Rubella, CMV and Toxoplasmosis infections in Gaziosmanpaşa University school of medicine Gynecology and Obstetrics Outpatient Clinic. Methods: This study was conducted on pregnant woman who applied to Gynecology and Obstetrics Outpatient Clinic of a Tertiary Hospital in Tokat, located in Central Black Sea Region. We clinicians with our hospital ordered TORCH test routinely in pregnancy. A total of 3162 pregnant women for pregnancy follow up at the between September 2009 and February 2012 were enrolled in this retrospective study. Rubella, CMV and Toxoplasma test results were retrieved by review of hospital records. Serologicaly tests have been studied according to the manufacturer’s guidelines using Abbott Architect i2000 SR device by ELISA method. Results: A total of 3162 serum samples were evaluated for IgM-IgG antibodies against Rubella, CMV and Toxoplasmosis. Seropositivity rates were 95.4% for Rubella; 99.4% for CMV, and 32% for Toxoplasmosis. When these results were evaluated, it was observed that two out of three women enrolled in the study were at risk of Toxoplasmosis infection, Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Orta Karadeniz bölgesinde yaşayan gebelerde Rubella, CMV ve Toksoplazmozis seroprevalansını tespit etmektir. Yöntem: Bu çalışma Orta Karadeniz bölgesinde bulunan Tokat ilinde üçüncü basamak bir hastaneye başvuran gebe kadınlar üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Hastanemizde gebelere rutin olarak TORCH testi yapılmaktadır. Eylül 2009 ve Şubat 2012 tarihleri arasında gebelik takibi için başvuran 3162 gebe kadın bu retrospektif çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Rubella, CMV ve Toksoplazma test sonuçları hastane kayıtları incelenerek elde edilmiştir.Serolojik testler ELISA yöntemiyle Abbott Architect i2000 SR cihazında üretici firmanın önerileri doğrultusunda çalışılmıştır. Bulgular: Toplam 3162 serum örneğinde Rubella,CMV ve toksoplazma için IgM ve IgG antikorları değerlendirildi.Seropozitivite oranları Rubella için %95.4, CMV için %99.4 ve toksoplazma için %32 olarak bulundu.Bu sonuçlar değerlendirildiğinde, araştırmaya dahil edilen yaklaşık her üç kadından ikisinin Toksoplazma enfeksiyonu açısından risk altında olduğu gözlenmektedir. Sonuç: Yaptığımız çalışmada Rubella, CMV ve Toksoplazma için seropozitiflik oranları, ülkemizde yapılmış diğer çalışmalarla benzerlik göstermektedir. Gebe kadınların büyük bir kısmı Rubella ve CMV’ye karşı bağışık iken, Toksoplazma için bu oran daha düşük bulunmuştur. Toksoplazma enfeksiyonundan gebelerin korunmasına yönelik eğitim çalışmalarına ağırlık verilmesi uygun olacaktır.

Aim: The aim of this study was to validate the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) in the Turkish population and to investigate its correlation with the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients. Materials and methods: Volunteer patients, who were scheduled for elective surgery and who applied to the Outpatient Clinic of Anesthesiology for preoperative evaluation, were asked to complete a PCS form. The patient’s age, sex, educational level, marital status, presence of chronic pain, and American Society of Anesthesiologists score were recorded, and PCS scores and demographic variables were compared statistically. Results: Of the 257 patients enrolled in the study, 136 were male, 121 female, and the median age was 40. The 3 subscales in the Turkish version of the PCS consisted of rumination, magnification, and helplessness. Internal consistency of PCS was found to be congruent with Cronbach’s α = 0.90. Significantly higher PCS scores were found in women with chronic pain. In addition, patients who graduated from primary school had statistically higher scores compared to those who graduated from high school. Conclusion: In accordance with the original scale, demographic specifications of the Turkish version of the PCS were found congruent. PCS scores in our population were found compatible with the literature review.

Giriş: Bu çalışmada tip 2 diyabetes mellituslu (DM) hastalarda distal simetrik sensori-motor polinöropati (DSP) için risk faktörlerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yön­tem­: Tip 2 DM olan 34’ü kadın, 33’ü erkek olmak üzere 67 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Hastaların ayrıntılı nörolojik muayeneleri yapılıp, Michigan Nöropati Değerlendirme Ölçeği’nin Nöropati Tarama Anketi uygulandı ve total nöropati skorları hesaplandı. Polinöropati protokolüne uygun olarak sinir iletim çalışmaları yapıldı. Bul­gu­lar: Hastalar 32-77 yaş arasındaydı ve yaş ortalamaları 54,57±8,64 idi. Ortalama glikolize hemoglobin (HbA1C) değerleri %8,32±1,81 (normal: %3-6,5) idi. Total nöropati skoru, diyabet süresi, nöropatik semptom süresi, hipertansiyon, retinopati ve HbA1C değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptandı. So­nuç: Bu çalışma DSP ile DM süresi ve kötü glisemik kontrol arasındaki ilişkiyi bildiren diğer çalışmaları doğrulamaktadır. Nöropati ile retinopati ve hipertansiyon arasında saptanan ilişki de önemlidir. Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors for distal symmetric sensory-motor polyneuropathy (DSP) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). Met­hods: Sixty seven patients with type 2 DM (33 males and 34 females) were included in the study. In addition to a detailed neurological examination, the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument was administered to all patients and their total neuropathy scores were calculated. Nerve conduction examinations were performed for all patients. Re­sults: The mean age of the patients was 52.83±.87 years. The mean glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C) value was 8.56±2.07% (normal: 3-6.5%). The total neuropathy score significantly correlated with diabetes duration, hypertension, retinopathy, and HbA1C. Conc­lu­si­on: This study confirms the previous reports regarding the association of neuropathy with poor glycaemic control and duration of the disease. The association of neuropathy with retinopathy and hypertension is important.
