1. Methods of Coating with Physical and Mental Problems Encountered in Adolescence

Abstract

There is an opinion about puberty that has some negative aspects. According to this view, he mentions that adolescence includes intense stress, pessimistic thoughts and inner turmoil. The aim of this study is to examine the methods of coping with physical and mental problems encountered in adolescence. It was applied to 8 high school students between the ages of 12-19 who are studying in Yozgat. Research data were obtained by semi-structured interview, one of the qualitative data collection tools. The data obtained as a result of the interviews with the participants were analyzed with descriptive analysis. At the end of the analysis of the data, themes were created in consideration of the literature. These themes are (1) stress, (2) mental problems, (3) physical problems, (4) coping with stress, and (5) environment. In this context, it is seen that family, friends and teachers play an important role in the psychological, physical and behavioral problems of adolescents and in the solution of these problems. The application of the research to a single high school type and the fact that the number of male students is more than the number of female students are among the limitations of the research. Based on the data obtained, trainings and seminars can be given by experts to families about the physical development and psychological problems of adolescence.

2. An Investigation of Academic Motivation Levels of Student Adolescent Athletes

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the academic motivation scale of student adolescent athletes in terms of different variables. Scanning model was used during the research. While the home of the research is composed of children who actively attend formal education and actively engage in sports during the adolescence period, it consists of 552 students who are selected by random practice method, continue formal education and actively engage in sports. In order to collect the research collection, the Personal Information Form maintained by the researcher and the Assistance Academic Motivation Scale by Bozanoglu (2004) were used. All of the collected structures were transferred from IBM-SPSS 25.0 sections, they were found to have normal distribution and were analyzed using the Independent Simple T Test and One Way Anova test. According to the analyzes made, it was determined that there was a fundamental difference between the gender variable and age variable of the athletes participating in the practice and the presence of academic motivation, and there was no difference between the branch variable and the level of academic motivation. It is recommended that The educational institutions in the sports field are advised to provide professional psychological support in order to encourage students to participate in sports.

3. Examining the Motivation Levels of University Students to Participate in Touristic Activities within the Theory of Planned Behavior

Abstract

In order to socialize, get rid of stress and the routine of daily life, relax, and return to work more efficiently, people plan their vacation time in advance, work for this plan, save money and even go into debt. In this regard, this study aims to examine the relationship between the planned behavior levels of university students who tend to tourism activities as a leisure behavior and their motivation to participate in tourism activities and to examine which independent variables affect these two variables and how. Within the scope of the study, a face-to-face survey was conducted with 603 university students studying at state universities in Ankara, Eskisehir, and Izmir. In the first part of the study, the theory of planned behavior is introduced and explained with its sub-dimensions. In the second part, the concepts of motivation and satisfaction in tourism are discussed. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that planned behavior in tourism is affected by gender and income variables, especially in terms of perceived behavior control, and also, planned behavior positively affects the motivation for participation in tourism. As a result of the research, the fact that we have to plan and design every activity we will do in advance, due to both Turkey's socio-economic situation and the fact that the working population is in the majority, directs us to more accessible and cheaper activities. Since recreational activities are more easily accessible in this regard, participation of both university students and their parents in such activities will cause both the budget and more activities to be intertwined, not only tourism-oriented but also every month of the year, they will be able to relax, develop and rest with a certain quality and inexpensive activities. In this regard, certain stereotypes of our society should be helped to break down, and their participation in recreational activities should be provided more intensely. Abstract

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most lethal human cancers and shows resistance to any therapeutic strategy used. Here we tested small-molecule inhibitors targeting chromatin regulators as possible therapeutic agents in PDAC. We show that JQ1, an inhibitor of the bromodomain and extraterminal (BET) family of proteins, suppresses PDAC development in mice by inhibiting both MYC activity and inflammatory signals. The histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor SAHA synergizes with JQ1 to augment cell death and more potently suppress advanced PDAC. Finally, using a CRISPR-Cas9-based method for gene editing directly in the mouse adult pancreas, we show that de-repression of p57 (also known as KIP2 or CDKN1C) upon combined BET and HDAC inhibition is required for the induction of combination therapy-induced cell death in PDAC. SAHA is approved for human use, and molecules similar to JQ1 are being tested in clinical trials. Thus, these studies identify a promising epigenetic-based therapeutic strategy that may be rapidly implemented in fatal human tumors.

46. Turkish validity and reliability study of the flow experience scale in video games

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to adapt the “Scale of Flow Experience in Video Games” to Turkish language and culture. The “Scale of Flow Experience in Video Games”, which can reveal a lot of data such as identifying customer potential and revealing the interests of individuals by providing detailed information about those who are exposed to a video game as service providers, viewers or participants in the video game industry, and offers the opportunity to segment the extent to which video game players are affected by video games and to which extent they continue to play games depending on which effects. Since there is no measurement tool that can evaluate the flow levels of video game players in Turkish, we believe that this study will contribute to the literature. The research population consisted of a total of 334 individuals selected by convenience sampling method in the city of Eskişehir. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to test the construct of the scale. As a result of the analysis, we found that the scale was above the values given in the literature for fit and showed good fit. In addition, the construct validity of the scale was tested. The Cronbach’s Alpha (0.969) internal consistency coefficient for the reliability of the scale consisting of 9 dimensions and 28 items was above the threshold given in the literature. Based on the findings, we determined that the “Scale of Flow Experience in Video Games” is a valid and reliable measurement tool. Therefore, it was concluded that the measurement tool, which shows the necessary psychometric properties for Turkish language and culture, can be used for activity participants in Turkey.
