A 3D printing test setup enabling tailored process control was developed to examine the slurry-based 3D printing process. A coater geometry and process parameters for efficient and homogeneous layer formation from an aqueous suspension were derived using CFD. The layer-wise drying configuration's influence on ceramic specimens' material properties was studied systematically. Producing high-strength ceramic cores of superior surface quality was shown feasible using slurry-based 3D printing., Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde ein schlickerbasierter 3D-Drucker entwickelt, der die systematische Untersuchung der schichtweisen Trocknung einer Suspension auf die Materialeigenschaften keramischer Proben ermöglicht. Eine Coatergeometrie und Prozessparameter für einen effizienten und homogenen Schichtauftrag wurden mithilfe von CFD-Simulationen ermittelt. Insgesamt wurde gezeigt, dass im schlickerbasierten 3D-Druck hochfeste keramische Kerne mit guter Oberflächenqualität fertigbar sind.

Very little research is devoted to additive manufacturing of advanced ceramics using a layerwise slurry deposition method. Therefore, despite its clear potentials, no solid technique, machine or process optimization has been suggested yet. This work is framed by a broader project that aims to produce of cores for casting moulds in order to generate refrigeration filigree channels for cooling electric motors, and thus improve their efficiency. For this purpose, as a first step, a coater machine has been developed and the process optimized. This is justified by the characterization of the obtained ceramic products.
