Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide as well as being the most frequently diagnosed cancer type. Advances in technology introduce Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems for breast cancer which gain importance in reduced mortality rate by the increased sensitivity of early diagnosis. Although any imaging technique can be adapted, mammography, with known effectiveness in early diagnosis, are mostly used in CAD systems for breast cancer. Hence, this paper focuses on design of a CAD system analyzing mammography images for breast cancer diagnosis and proposes a new approach for geometrical feature extraction for this system. The proposed scheme is verified on a subset of the publicly available Mammographic Image Analysis Society digital mammogram database. In the detection phase of this system, initially, adaptive median filtering is applied for noise reduction; artifact suppression and background removal is realized via morphological operations, and pectoral muscle removal is executed using a region growing algorithm. Then, Chan-Vese active contour modeling is utilized for the ROI detection. Thereupon, the center of gravity (CoG) of each ROI is determined, and a convex image is created by specifying 92 points, called as edge points, on the boundary curves of the related ROI. In the feature extraction stage of the diagnosis phase, the angles between each pair of edge points and the CoG, the Euclidean distance between edge points and the CoG, and the Euclidean distance between each pair of edge points are computed. These geometrical descriptors are utilized in the classification stage via the Random Forest classifier using the five-fold cross-validation technique. As a result, breast cancer diagnosis is achieved by an accuracy of 70.13%. Analyzing the overall confusion matrix constructed in the classification stage, it is clearly seen that although healthy and benign diagnoses are mixed, malignancy is diagnosed well by the proposed geometrical descriptors.

In this study, mass detection application is developed for mammograms from Zernike moments and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of convex mass boundary. During the development of the application, the Mammographic Image Analysis Society (MIAS) database, which is available to the researchers, is used. The MIAS database contains 322, 1024x1024 pixel resolution images of normal, benign, and malignant cancer. In the first phase of the study, noise reduction and image enhancement process is performed on the images. The pectoral muscles, which have similar features as region of interests (ROIs) are decomposed. After the decomposition process, images are enhanced by contrast to clarify ROIs. From ROIs, Zernike moments and FFT of convex mass boundary are calculated and feature vectors are obtained for each image. The new feature vector of each image was divided into training and test sets, and the labels of the test set were obtained with 100% accuracy., Bu çalışmada, mamografi görüntülerinde şüpheli bölge olarak tanımlanan bölgelerin dışbükey kitle sınırının Zernike momentlerinden ve Hızlı Fourier Dönüşümünden (FFT) faydalanarak kitle algılama uygulaması geliştirilir. Uygulamanın geliştirilmesi sırasında araştırmacıların kullanımına açık olan Mammografi Analiz Topluluğu (MIAS) veritabanı kullanılır. MIAS veritabanı, 322 adet 1024x1024 piksel çözünürlüklü normal, iyi huylu ve kötü huylu kanser mamografi görüntülerini içerir. Şüpheli bölgelerden, dışbükey kitle sınırının Zernike momentleri ve FFT'si hesaplanır ve her görüntü için öznitelik vektörleri elde edilir. Her bir görüntünün yeni öznitelik vektörü eğitim ve test kümelerine ayrılmış ve test kümesinin etiketleri %100 doğruluk ile elde edilmiştir.

Beyin dokusunda bulunan hücrelerin anormal bir şekilde büyümesi ile beyinde tümörler meydana gelmektedir. Beyinde bulunan tümörlerin büyük bir miktarı kanserli olduğu için, tümörlü beyin hasta kişinin ölümüne kadar sonuçlar doğurabilir. Beyin tümörlerinin görüntülenmesinde yaygın olarak MR görüntüleme araç olarak kullanılmaktadır. MR görüntüleri, görüntünün doku, karşıtlık, parlaklık ve sınır bilgilerini kullanarak hastalıklı bölgeler ile sağlıklı bölgeleri ayırabilmektedir. Bu sayede, beyin tümörünün şekli, konumu, büyüklüğü, alanı bulunarak hastalığın tedavi sürecinin planlaması yapılabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, derin öğrenme yardımı ile MR görüntülerinde beyin tümörünün tespit edilmesi ve K-means ile bölütlenmesi işlemi yapılmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda beyin tümörünün tespit edilmesinde elde edilen doğruluk oranı %84.45, hassasiyet %95.04 olarak bulunmuştur. Çalışma ile, tam otomatik bir beyin tümörü tespit etme ve bölütleme önerilerek, tümörlü bölgenin doğru bir şekilde çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır., Tumors occur in the brain as the cells in the brain tissue grow abnormally. Since a large amount of tumors in the brain are cancerous, it can have consequences until the death of the sick person. MR imaging is widely used as a means of imaging brain tumors. MR images can distinguish diseased areas and healthy areas using the image's texture, contrast, brightness and boundary information. In this way, planning of the treatment process of the disease can be made by finding the shape, location, size and area of the brain tumor. In this study, the detection of the brain tumor in MR images by using deep learning and the segmentation with K-means are performed. As a result of the study, the accuracy obtained in detecting of the brain tumor is 84.45%, and the sensitivity is 95.04%. The study proposed detection and segmentation of the brain tumor and, extracting the tumor area automatically.

These signals are preprocessed toremove noise. Features with distinctiveness in classification are obtained bothin the time domain and the frequency domain. The Discrete Wavelet Transformmethod is used for feature extraction in frequency domain. ECG signals areclassified by the Naive Bayes method after the required features are extracted.

Freezing of the concrete mix water in cold weathercaused strength loss of concrete and permeability. Besides, the setting ofconcrete is accomplished slowly in the cold weather conditions. In this study, themain goal is the production of quickly setting concrete in a cold weather. Forthis purpose, the inner side of a concrete part is heated by an electricalresistance and therefore the setting of concrete is completed in a short whileby this way. The cable for heatingpurpose is placed with different lengths and shapes in the template. Preparedconcrete mix is placed this templates in deep freeze. They are waited until setting period ofconcrete in deep freeze at -15, -20, -25 degrees ambient temperature. Theconcrete temperature during the setting period of concrete is measured. Theconcrete is set in a short time such as 4.5 hours though by using this methodin the cold weather conditions. Samples were removed from the mold and left tocure pool. After having experiments on 8 cm cube samples cut form the samplesday 7th and 28th day, the unit weight of concrete, compressive strength, waterabsorption, ultrasonic pulse velocity are calculated. Ayrıca soğuk havakoşullarında beton prizini oldukça yavaş alır. Bu çalışmada, soğuk havada hızlıpriz alan beton üretilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçla elektriksel direnç kullanılarakbeton içeriden ısıtılmış ve kısa sürede betonun prizini tamamlamasısağlanmıştır. Isıtma için kullanılan kablo farklı boy ve farklı şekillerdekalıp içerisine yerleştirilmiştir. Hazırlanan beton karışımı bu kalıplarayerleştirilerek derin dondurucuya konulmuştur. Derin dondurucuda -15, -20, -25derece ortam sıcaklıklarında priz alıncaya kadar bekletilmiştir. Betonun prizalma sürecindeki sıcaklığı her 30 dakikada bir ölçülmüştür. Bu yöntemle soğukhava koşullarına rağmen 4,5 saat gibi kısa bir sürede beton priz almıştır.Kalıptan çıkarılan numuneler kür havuzuna bırakılmıştır. 7. ve 28. gündenumunelerden kesilerek alınan 8 cm boyutlarındaki küp numuneler üzerindeyapılan deneyler sonucunda betonun birim hacim ağırlığı, basınç dayanımı, suemme, ultrases geçiş hızları hesaplanmıştır. Oldukça düşük sıcaklıklarda elektrik direnci ile ısıtma sayesinde betonunprizini tamamlamasının beton özelikleri üzerinde olumlu etkileri gözlemlenmiştir.

In thisstudy, we investigated the contribution of the multiple regression to robustnoisy speech recognition in improving the recognition rates. When the noisyspeech recognition process is carried out; first of all, an AffineTransformation is performed in order to map the feature vectors of noisy speechinto those of clean speech. After transforming, the recognition step isachieved using the Common Vector Approach (CVA). We used several multiplelinear as well as non-linear regression models to improve the recognition ratesby adding non-linear terms into the model during the affine transformationstage. In the experimental study, the recognition rates of the noisy speechsignals with 0 dB, 5 dB, 10dB, and 20 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) valueshave been obtained. Noisy speech which has 20, 10, 5, and 0 dB SNR is obtained usingMATLAB by adding white Gaussian noise on the clean speech taken from the TexasInstruments (TI) Digit Database. Tanıma oranlarınıiyileştirmek için, ilgin (affine) dönüşüm sırasında birçok doğrusal ve doğrusalolmayan regresyon modeli kurulmuş ve hem doğrusal hem de doğrusal olmayanterimler bu modele eklenmiştir. Deneysel çalışmalarda, 0 dB, 5 dB, 10dB ve 20dB Sinyal/Gürültü Oranı (SGO) değerlerindeki gürültülü ses sinyalleri içintanıma oranları elde edilmiştir. 20, 10, 5 ve 0 dB SGO gürültülü sesler, Texas Instruments (TI) Rakam veritabanındanalınan temiz seslerin üzerine Beyaz Gauss gürültünün MATLAB ortamında eklenmesiile elde edilmiştir. Doğrusal olmayan terimlerin modele eklenmesi sonucu tanımaoranlarında iyileşmeler gözlemlenmiştir.

The proposed filter detects and filters out SMS spam messages in a smart manner rather than black/white list approaches that require intervention of phone users. In the study, Gini index based approach is preferred as the feature selection method. The feature vectors consisting of the selected discriminative features are then fed into two well-known pattern classifiers, namely Naive Bayes and k-Nearest Neighbor, for recognition process. Furthermore, a mobile application, which exploits the proposed detection scheme, is developed particularly for the mobile phones with Android™ operating system. Thus, SMS spam messages are automatically filtered out without disturbing the phone user. The proposed detection scheme is evaluated on a large SMS message dataset consisting of spam and legitimate messages. The results of the experimental work reveal that the proposed system is considerably successful in filtering SMS spam messages

Bu tezin temel amacı, Ortak Matris Yaklaşımı'nın (OMY) yüz imgeleri üzerine çeşitli uygulamalarını gerçekleştirmektir. Bunun için, OMY, gerek yüz imgelerinden elde edilen değişik öznitelikler üzerine uygulanmış; gerekse de tensörlerle kullanılarak yüz tanımada kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, bazı vektör tabanlı çalışmalarda ise Ortak Vektör Yaklaşımı (OVY) yürütülmüştür. Bu tezde yapılan çalışmaları aşağıdaki gibi özetleyebiliriz. İlk olarak, elektrik motorlarındaki yatak arızalarının tespiti ve teşhisi üzerine yapılan çalışmalarda, bir indüksiyon motorunun döneç bilye yataklarından ölçülen titreşim sinyalleri kullanılmış ve OVY yöntemiyle başarım sonuçları elde edilmiştir. İkinci olarak, OMY'nin dördüncü dereceden ortak değişinti tensörü yardımıyla gerçeklenmesinde kullanılan bir yaklaşımla, klasik OMY arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Üçüncü olarak, üçüncü dereceden imge tensörlerinin Yüksek Dereceli Tekil Değer Ayrıştırması'ndan (YDTDA) elde edilen taban matrisleri yardımı ile alternatif bir OMY gerçekleştirilmiştir. Dördüncü olarak ise, İki Boyutlu Temel Bileşen Analizi (2BTBA), İki Boyutlu Tekil Değer Ayrıştırması (2BTDA) ve İki Boyutlu Fisher Ayırtaç Analizi (2BFAA) tabanlı öznitelik matrisleri, OMY ve Destekçi Vektör Makinesi (DVM) yöntemleri kullanılarak sınıflandırılmıştır. Beşinci ve son olarak da, yüz tanıma için ?fazla örnek büyüklüğü? probleminin üstesinden gelmek için; bir yüz imgesinde, diğer parçalara nazaran daha fazla bilgi içerdiği düşünülen 12 veya 13 farklı bölüt kesilerek çıkartılmıştır. Kesilen bu bölütler; OVY, D-DAA, TBA ve DVM yöntemlerinde kullanılarak başarım sonuçları elde edilmiştir. The main objective of this thesis is to perform several applications of the Common Matrix Approach (CMA) on the face images. In order to do this, CMA not only has been applied on the various features obtained from the face images and but also has been used with tensors for face recognition. In addition to this, the Common Vector Approach (CVA) is also performed on some vector-based studies. The studies in this thesis can be summarized as follows. Firstly, in the studies, which have been performed on the detection and the diagnosis of bearing faults in the electrical motors, the vibration signals measured from the rotor ball bearings of an induction motor have been used and the recognition rates have been obtained with the CVA method. Secondly, the relationships between the classical CMA construction and a different CMA construction which has been implemented using fourth-order covariance tensor have been examined. Thirdly, an alternative CMA implementation has been made using basis matrices obtained from Higher Order Singular Value Decomposition (HOSVD) of the third-order image tensors. Fourthly, Two Dimensional Principal Component Analysis (2DPCA), Two Dimensional Singular Value Decomposition (2DSVD) and Two Dimensional Fisher Discriminant Analysis (2DFDA) based feature matrices are classified using CMA and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) methods. Finally, the thirteen or twelve different partitions that include more important information than other parts in a face have been cropped in order to overcome the large sample size problem for face recognition. The recognition rates have been obtained using these cropped partitions by CVA, Direct-LDA (Direct-Linear Discriminant Analysis), PCA and SVM methods. 106

Common vector approach (CVA) is employed to evaluate the effect of the proposed method in the isolated word recognition. Since the CVA method is sensitive to shifts through the time axis, endpoint detection of words is extremely important. For the comparison purpose, one of the well-known endpoint detection methods is also used together with CVA. The recognition rates obtained by using COG and CVA methods for TI-digit database are greater than those obtained by using other endpoint detection and CVA methods.
