In this study m-poly(ethylene glycoldimethacrylate-vinyl imidazole) [m-poly(EGDMA–VIM)] microbeads were employed as adsorbent for reactive dye black 5.Temperature effects of reactive black 5, from aqueous solutions were studied byadsorption on m-poly(EGDMA-VIM). The m-poly(EGDMA-VIM) microbeads weresynthesized and characterized; their use as adsorbent of temperature effectswere investigated. The m-poly(EGDMA-VIM) microbeads were characterized byscanning electron microscope (SEM), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) studies and swelling studies.In this study, the effects of temperature onadsorption were investigated. In this study, 4, 25, 45 and 65 degreetemperatures were studied.

It was aimed to investigate the influence of washing cycle and fabric type on stretching (%), unrecovered elongation (%) and elastic recovery properties of plain knitted fabrics made of different ground yarn types having the same elastane ratio (%). For the plain knitted fabrics; Elastane ratio was kept constant as 5% for all fabric types whereas the ground yarns were selected as 70% polyester 30% cotton vortex yarn, 70% polyester 30%viscon ring yarn, 70% polyester 30%cotton ring yarn, 100%viscon vortex and 100% cotton ring spun yarns respectively. Knitted samples were objected to repeated laundering and flat dried after each washing cycle. Fabric weight (g/m2) after the washing cycles of 1, 5 and 10 were premeasured. Fryma fabric extensometer device was used for determining the stretching ratios (%), unrecovered elongation (%) and elastic recovery (%) of the samples both in wale and course way. Two-Way ANOVA was performed in order to investigate the influence of washing cycle and fabric type on stretching (%) and unrecovered elongation (%) properties of the elastane knitted fabrics.

Bu çalışmada, oksidatif bir madde olan ozonun lakkaz enzimleriyle ağartmaya etkisi, enzim aktivitesi ve beyazlık açılarından incelenmiştir. Beyazlık ölçüm sonuçları, tek başına lakkaz kullanımının beyazlıkta kayda değer bir artış sağlamadığını göstermiştir. 40°C’daki lakkaz ağartma banyosuna ozon gazı beslenmesi durumunda beyazlık değeri (Stensby) 61’den 69’a çıkmıştır. Ozon oksidatif özelliği nedeniyle enzim aktivitesini düşmüştür. Ozon tek başına kullanıldığında beyazlık değeri (Stensby) 71’e çıkmıştır. Enzim ve ozon ile işlem görmüş numunelerin beyazlıklarını artırmak için ilave peroksit ağartması yapılmış ve beyazlıklarda ciddi artışlar sağlanmıştır. Ozon ile işlem görmüş numunenin beyazlık değeri ilave peroksit ağartması sonrasında (Stensby) 83’e kadar çıkarak klasik peroksit ağartmasında ulaşılan değerleri yakalamıştır, The effects of ozone on the enzyme activity and bleaching effect of laccase have been examined in this study. Laccase treatment at 40°C did not increase the whiteness of the fabric alone. However, ozone feed into the bleaching bath prepared with laccase increased the Stensby whiteness degree of the fabric from 61 to 69, ozonation alone resulted in a whiteness degree of 71. Ozone decreased the enzyme activity because of its oxidative effect. A post bleaching process with hydrogen peroxide was conducted to improve the whiteness degrees of the treated fabrics, and this resulted in increases in the whiteness degrees. The whiteness degree of the sample treated with ozone increased upto 83 (stensby) after post bleaching and reached the whiteness value of the conventionally bleached sample

Ozon kuvvetli bir oksidandır ve tekstil atık sularının ozonlanması ile hem atık suyun rengi giderilmekte hem de organik kirlilik miktarı azaltılmaktadır. Fiske olmadan banyoda kalan oranının fazla olması nedeniyle reaktif boyarmaddeler ozonlama yoluyla renk giderimi çalışmalarında sıklıkla kullanılmışlardır. Literatürdeki çalışmalarda, numune reaktif boyarmadde çözeltileri gerçek boyama atık sularına benzetilmek için ozonlama öncesinde hidroliz edilmiştir. Reaktif boyarmaddelerin hidrolizi aslında bağ yapabilme kabiliyetleriyle ilgilidir. Bunun yanında; farklı araştırmacıların farklı hidroliz şartları uygulamaları hatta bir kısmının hidroliz yapmaması boyarmadde hidrolizinin ozonlama ile renk giderimi üzerine etkisi konusunda kafa karıştırıcıdır. Ozonlama ile renk giderimi çalışmalarında, gerçek boyama banyolarındaki boyarmaddenin hidroliz olma davranışını simüle etmek için deney çözeltilerine uygulanan boyarmadde hidroliz işlemininin gerekliliği üzerine literatürde yorum eksikliği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, CI Reactive Yellow 167 monoazo reaktif boyarmaddesinin ozonlama yoluyla renk gideriminde farklı sıcaklıklarda ve sürelerde, farklı alkaliler ile yapılan hidroliz işlemlerinin renk giderimine, ozon verimine ve KOİ giderimine etkisi karşılaştırılmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Deney sonuçları hidroliz işleminin renk giderimi üzerinde ihmal edilebilir derecede küçük etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermiştir, Ozone, a stong oxidative agent, not only removes the color of the effluent but also reduces the organic pollution values. Numerous decolorisation studies on reactive dyeing effluents by ozonation has been made considering low fixation degrees of reactive dyes. Hydrolysis of reactive dyes had been reported in some studies in order to simulate actual reactive dyeing effluents. However, the hydrolysis of reactive dyes primarily effects the bonding capacity and its effects on decolorisation needs to be discussed. Also different hydrolysis procedures had been reported in some studies while no hydrolysis had been reported in some others. At this study, effects of various hydrolysis procedures using different temperatures, process time and alkalis on decolorisation and COD reduction of CI Reactive Yellow 167 has been investigated. ÖZET Poliester lifleri geniş ve farklı uygulama alanlarında kullanılmaktadırlar ve poliester kumaş ve ipliklerin boyanması için teknik iyileştirmeler sürekli yapılmaktadır. Poliesterin terbiyesi esnasında ön terbiye işlemleri alkali bir banyoda yapılmakta, daha sonra asidik bir banyoda boyama yapılmakta ve yine alkali bir banyoda ard işlemler yapılmaktadır. Poliesteri alkali ortamda boyamak mümkün olsaydı, toplam proses daha basit hale getirilebilir ve boyanmış materyalin kalitesi ve tekrarlanabilirliği daha iyi gerçekleştirilebilirdi. Bunlara ilaveten asidik boyamalardan sonra karşılaşılabilen oligomer kaynaklı problemler de en aza indirilebilir ve poliester/pamuk karışımlarının tek banyoda boyanmasında avantajlar sağlanabilirdi. Bu çalışmada alkali boyama için önerilen proseslerin ve kimyasal maddelerin genel bir değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır. Farklı üreticilerden temin edilen bir çok boyarmadde ve yardımcı kimyasal karşılaştırılmış ve alkali boyama prosesinin renk verimine, kumaş haslık özelliklerine, kumaş mekanik özelliklerine ve yüzey oligomeri miktarına etkileri deneysel olarak incelenmiş ve proseslerin çevresel etkileri araştırılmıştır. EXAMINATION OF THE PROCESS PARAMETERS IN ALKALINE DYEING OF POLYESTER AND INVESTIGATION OF THE ECONOMICAL AND ECOLOGICAL ADVANTAGES OF THE PROCESS ABSTRACT Polyester fibers are used for a wide range of different applications, and technical improvements for the dyeing of polyester fabric and yarn are constantly being made. Whillst they are being processed, polyester fibres and fabrics are treated in an alkaline medium at the pretereatment process, in an acid medium at the dyeing process and again in an alkaline medium at aftertreatment. If it was possible to dye polyester in an alkaline medium, total processing would be simplified and reproducibility and quality of dyed materials could be improved. In addition, the problems that are caused by the presence of polyester oligomer in acid dyeing could be minimised and advantages could be met in one-step dyeing of polyester/cotton blends. A general evaluation of alkaline dyeing processes and chemicals have been made in this study. Several dyes and auxiliaries of different manufacturers were compared and the effect of alkaline process on the color yield, fastness properties, mechanical properties and surface trimer content of polyester fabric as well as the environmental impacts of these processes has been experimentally examined. Also the possibilities of dyeing polyester/cellulose blends in one alkaline bath was investigated by examining the appropriateness of various disperse and reactive dyestuffs to the alkaline- one-step process. Blend dyeing trials in two-step and one-step have been performed by the selected approprşate dyestuffs and color yield, fastness and environmental impact of the processes have been compared. ÖZET Reaktif boyarmaddeler bulunuşundan itibaren giderek artan bir uygulama alanı bulmuşlardır. Özellikle selülozik malzemelerin boyanmasında son derece geniş bir kullanıma sahiptir. Reaktif boyarmaddelerle çalışma sırasında karşılaşılan en önemli sorunlardan birisi; boyarmaddelerin hidroliz olması nedeniyle yaş haslıklarda yaşanan problemlerdir. Bu sorunun önüne geçmek için iyi bir ard işlem (yıkama) gereklidir. Bu çalışmada; reaktif boyarmaddeler ve reaktif boyama metotlarından kısaca bahsedilmiş, ard işlem olarak yapılan geleneksel yıkama proseslerinin reçeteleri verilmiş ve su ve kimyasal tüketiminden tasarruf sağlayan yeni bir yıkama reçetesinin haslıklara etkisi deneysel olarak incelenmiştir. II ABSTRACT Reactive dyestuffs have increasingly been used especially in dyeing of cotton since their invention. The most important disadvantage of reactive dyestuffs is the forming of hydrolisate which causes low wet fastness properties. Detailed washing processes are carried out after dyeing in order to improve wet fastness properties. In this study, a general information is given about rective dyestuffs and reactive dyeing. The conventional washing-off recipes are given and a new recipe which leads to a reduction in water and chemical consumption is described and its effects on wet fastness properties are investigated by an experimental method. 103

Bu tezde yenilikçi süperkritik karbondioksit ScCO₂ akışkan ortamında lineer aromatik polyester ailesinin ftalat grubuna mensup Poli(trimetilen tereftalat) (PTT) ile Poli(bütilen tereftalat) (PBT) liflerinin boyanması üzerine çalışılmıştır. %100 PTT ve %100 PBT ile dokunmuş kumaşlar Dispers Blue 79 ve Dianix Dry Blue XF2 boyalarıyla konvansiyonel boyama ve sabit basınç (250 bar) farklı sıcaklık (65 ℃, 70 ℃, 75 ℃, 85 ℃, ve 95 ℃) koşullarında ScCO₂ ortamında boyamalar yapılmış; yöntemler renk ölçümleri, yıkama ve sürtme haslıkları kopma mukavemet değerleriyle karşılaştırılmıştır. In this thesis, the dyeing of Poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) and Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) fibers belonging to the phthalate group of the linear aromatic polyester family in an innovative supercritical carbon dioxide sc CO₂ fluid medium was studied. Tekstil sektörü genel olarak su tüketiminin yoğun olduğu proseslerden oluşmaktadır. Özellikle boyama işleminde çok fazla su kullanılmaktadır. Bu sebeple su kullanımının azalmasına yönelik boyama çalışmaların her geçen gün öneminin artacağı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, süperkritik karbondioksit (scCO2) ortamda susuz ve klasik sulu ortamda bir adet % 100 poliester dokuma kumaş açık ve koyu tonda olmak üzere boyanmış, boyama proseslerinin aşamaları her iki ortam için de yaşam döngüsü analizi (LCA) yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Analiz için SimaPro 9.3 programı kullanılmış ve yapılan karşılaştırma kümülatif olarak süperkritik ortamda yapılan boyamada çevresel etkinin klasik sulu ortamda boyamayla karşılaştırıldığında göre daha az olduğu dolayısıyla daha avantajlı olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır., Water is a valuable resource both for life and because of its properties. Therefore, water scarcity and increasing environmental awareness cause worldwide concern. The textile industry generallyconsists of processes with intense water consumption. Especially in the dyeing process, a lot of water is used. For this reason, the importance of dyeing studies aimed at reducing water use that increases day by day. In this study, one %100 polyester woven fabrics were dyed in dark and light shade in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) media (waterless) and classic media (aqueous) and the dyeing process was evaluated by life cycle analysis (LCA) method in both media. Dünya nüfusunun kontrolsüz bir şekilde artması, bir yandan yaşam standartlarını yükseltmeye yönelik faaliyetler, diğer yandan kıt olan tatlı su kaynakları nedeniyle insanların su kullanım ihtiyaçları gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Tekstil üretiminin her aşamasında çok fazla miktarda su tüketilmektedir. Bunlardan biri de boyama sırasında harcanan su miktarıdır. Bu sebeple su kullanımının günümüzde hızla artan bir öneme sahip olacağı ön görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, poliester ipliğinin boyanmasında susuz, süperkritik karbondioksit (scCO2) boyama prosesi ile klasik boyama prosesi karşılaştırılmış ve sonuçlar yaşam döngüsü analizi (LCA) yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Karşılaştırmanın sonucunda susuz boyama prosesinin çevresel etkisi klasik boyamaya göre daha düşük seviyede olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. People's water usage needs are increasing day by day with the uncontrolled increase in the world population and activities aimed at raising the living standards, although the fresh water resources are scarce. A large amount of water is consumed at every stage of textile production. One of them is the amount of water consumed during dyeing. For this reason, it is foreseen that the use of water will have a rapidly increasing importance today. In this study, anhydrous supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) dyeing process and classical dyeing process were compared in dyeing polyester yarn and the results were evaluated by life cycle analysis (LCA) method.
