Erdogan, Ozgur/0000-0003-1547-2513 WOS: 000460891100010 PubMed: 30837422 Objective: Irrigation with saline is one of the essential methods for reducing the heat generated during dental implant osteotomy. High irrigation volume impairs visibility of the surgical field, thus complicates the surgery. In this study, we aimed to determine the optimal irrigation volume for heat reduction during dental implant drilling. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two implant osteotomies were prepared on four fresh cow ribs. Heat generated during the final implant drilling was measured both with infrared thermography and thermocouple method. Initial and maximum temperatures were measured at four different irrigation volumes; 32, 44, 56, and 68 ml/min. Results: Both measurement methods showed that the amount of temperature rise is associated with the irrigation volume during implant drilling. There is no further decrease in temperature rise above irrigation volume of 56 ml/min. Conclusion: Saline irrigation with 56 ml/min provides sufficient heat reduction during dental implant drilling and higher irrigation volumes are not necessary.

The aim of study was to determine the reactions of some cotton varieties (Gossypium hirsutum L.) registered in Turkey against seedling root rot pathogens in-vivo. Twenty varieties were tested to determine reactions against Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium spp. and R. solani+Fusarium spp. in the growth chamber. A pot trial was carried out in a randomized plot design with four replications. The emergence (E), pre-emergence damping-off (PrE), post-emergence damping-off (PsE) and hypocotyl disease index (HDI) values of the fungicide (F) and non-fungicide (NF) treated cotton varieties were determined in the experiment. The highest E against R. solani and Fusarium spp. was found Stoneville468 and Pg2018 (90%), Sezener76 and ipek607 (90%) in the NF; Gaia (100%), Ba440 (97.50%), Julia and Adn712 (97.50%) in the F respectively. The lowest PrE against R. solani was determined Stoneville468 and Pg2018 (%10) in the NF; Gaia (0%) and Ba440 (2.50%) in the F. The lowest PsE against R. solani and R. solani+Fusarium spp. was detected Acala Royale (52.46%;54.17%) and Gaia (52.78%) in the NF; Acala Royale (39.44%;37.78%) in the F respectively. The lowest HDI value against R. solani and R. solani+Fusarium spp. was found Acala Royale (1.67;1.74) in the NF; Acala Royale (1.55;1.54), Gaia and Adn712 (1.65), Stoneville468 and Julia (1.71) in the F respectively. This study has been conducted during the 2015-2016 period in Aksaray, with semi-arid climate conditions, with the purpose of defining the morphologic, yield and phytochemical parameters of 'Damaye' and 'NQ-7' Goji Berry varieties. The trial was conducted with 'Damaye' and 'NQ-7' varieties in randomized blocks experimental design, with three repetitions and 10 plants in each repetition, tubed saplings in every 3mx 2m intervals, during the years 2015 and 2016. Morphologic and yield parameters such as plant stem diameter, plant crown height, plant shoot size, plant size, yield per plant, yield per decare, yield efficiency, 100 grain weight and phytochemical parameters such as antioxidant ratio, total phenolic matter quantity, C vitamin quantity, glycose quantity, fructose quantity and sucrose quantity were examined. In the study, yearx variety interaction was found to be statistically meaningful at a rate of 5% in plant stem diameter, plant crown width, plant crown height, plant size, yield per plant, yield per decare parameters; while year was found to be statistically meaningful at a rate of 5% in plant crown width, plant shoot size and yield efficiency parameters. And in terms of phytochemical properties, the difference between varieties were found to be statistically insignificant. In 2015, the average plant stem diameter (4.01mm), plant crown height (71.12cm), plant size (84.27cm), yield per plant (0.22kg/tree) and yield per decare (47.71kg/decar) values of 'Damaye' variety were observed to be higher than the 'NQ-7'variety. In 2016, the average plant stem diameter (15.12mm) and plant size (167.50mm) values were higher in 'Damaye' variety, while the average yield per plant (2.12kg/tree) and average yield per decare (468.29kg/decar) values were higher in 'NQ-7'variety. As for plant corolla height, both 'NQ-7' (114.73cm) and 'Damaye' (105.06cm) varieties were ranked first and statistically placed within the same group. In conclusion, in 2015 'Damaye' variety displayed a better performance in terms of morphologic and yield parameters, while in 2016, 'NQ-7'variety displayed a better performance. But in both years, yield efficiency and yield per decare values were higher in 'NQ-7'variety when compared to the 'Damaye' variety. Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is one of the most important cut flowers in the world. Some fungi, bacteria and viruses lead to diseases that affect carnation plants, and most of these severe diseases are caused by Fungi. It is considered that Fusarium oxysporum f sp. dianthi (Fod) has induced one of the most serious and detrimental diseases that impair carnation. In this study, the effect of some biological preparations [Trichoderma harzianum Pseudomonas fluorescens; Bacillus subtilis QST 713 (SERENADE), Mycorrhiza spp., Trichoderma spp., Bacillus spp. (PANORAMIX), Lactobacillus acidophilus + Lactobacillus paracasei (VITANAL), tea tree oil extract (TIMOREX GOLD), orange oil extract (PREY-AM), plant extracts of Reynoutria spp. (REGALIA) against Fod were investigated. Experiments were performed using a randomized plots design with five replications (five pots and one plant per pot) in a growth chamber. After 30 days, carnation plants were evaluated with a scale of 0-5 values. The effect of biological preparations was calculated based on root size, root number, plant height and number of nodes, then the acquired data were evaluated. The best results were obtained with T. harzianum (96%), SERENADE (96%) and PANORAMIX (88%) against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. dianthi. All of the control plants (+) were completely dead due to the disease. In conclusion, the biological control improves the Fusarium wilt suppression capabilities of carnation. C1 [Arici, S. The aim of the study was to determine the structure, knowledge level, functions in pest management and opinions of pesticide dealers in Nevsehir province. Complete counting method has been employed in 2018 to acquire survey data from 50 pesticide dealers located in the Central, Derinkuyu, Gülsehir, Ürgüp, Kozakli, Avanos, Acigol and Hacibektas districts of Nevsehir and the results have been assessed on a percentage ratio. It has been observed that majority of the pesticide dealers are male (84%), university graduate (78%), and mostly experienced and a graduate of agricultural faculty (76%). Pesticide dealers have indicated that among pesticide groups, it is insecticides that are selling most (66%), they are getting pesticides from wholesalers (62%), paying in cash (66%), they are in constant contact with agricultural organizations (66%) and they are having problems with regards to the diagnosis of physiological and pathologic diseases (58%). Farmers have stated that they are consulting the pesticide dealers on how, when and how much pesticide to use (86%), getting recommendations on pesticide selection (64%), that price is a major factor in buying pesticide (48%), they are applying the suggested pesticide dosage in a medium level (58%) and that pesticides are partially effective (50%). Pesticide dealers have stated that look for licenced (44%) and economical pesticides (36%), that they are not in favour of pesticides being sold with prescription (46%), that integrated pest management and early warning system is implemented in low levels only (34%), that they are introducing the products to farmers (44%), that pesticide companies are introducing new products (68%) and that majority of the farmers are not using bio-pesticides. © 2019 Parlar Scientific Publications. PubMedID: 15643295 Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disease that is prevalent among eastern Mediterranean populations, mainly non-Ashkenazi Jews, Armenians, Turks, and Arabs. Since a large proportion of all the FMF patients in the world live in Turkey, the Turkish FMF Study Group (FMF-TR) was founded to develop a patient registry database and analyze demographic, clinical, and genetic features. The cohort was composed of 2838 patients (mean age, 23.0 ± 13.33 yr; range, 2-87 yr), with a male:female ratio of 1.2:1. There was a mean period of 6.9 ± 7.65 years from disease onset to diagnosis; the period was about 2 years shorter for each decade since 1981. Ninety-four percent of patients were living in the central-western parts of the country; however, their familial origins (70% from the central-eastern and Black Sea regions) reflected not only the ongoing east to west migration, but also the historical roots of FMF in Turkey. Patients' clinical features included peritonitis (93.7%), fever (92.5%), arthritis (47.4%), pleuritis (31.2%), myalgia (39.6%), and erysipelas-like erythema (20.9%). Arthritis, arthralgia, myalgia, and erysipelas-like erythema were significantly more frequent (p < 0.001) among patients with disease onset before the age of 18 years. Genetic analysis of 1090 patients revealed that M694V was the most frequent mutation (51.4%), followed by M680I (14.4%) and V726A (8.6%). Patients with the M694V/M694V genotype were found to have an earlier age of onset and higher frequencies of arthritis and arthralgia compared with the other groups (both p < 0.001). In contrast to other reported studies, there was no correlation between amyloidosis and M694V homozygosity in this cohort. However, amyloidosis was still remarkably frequent in our patients (12.9%), and it was prevalent (27.8%) even among the 18 patients with a disease onset after age 40 years. Twenty-two patients (0.8%) had nonamyloid glomerular diseases. The high prevalence of vasculitides (0.9% for polyarteritis nodosa and 2.7% for Henoch-Schönlein purpura) and high frequency of pericarditis (1.4%) were striking findings in the cohort. Phenotype II cases (those patients with amyloidosis as the presenting or only manifestation of disease) were rare (0.3% or less). There was a high rate of a past diagnosis of acute rheumatic fever, which suggested a possible misdiagnosis in children with FMF presenting with recurrent arthritis. To our knowledge, this is the largest series of patients with FMF reported from 1 country. We describe the features of the disease in the Turkish population and show that amyloidosis is still a substantial problem.
