Xanthos is located within the borders of Kınık district of Kaş county of Antalya Province, right on the shore of the Eşen River, which forms the provincial border between Antalya and Muğla. The subject of the study is a group of Knidos Amphorae found in archaeological studies in Xanthos. In the study, in which amphorae were evaluated as the main material, a total of 192 pieces were examined and subjected to typological and analogical evaluation. The inclusion of Proto-Knidian amphorae, which are rarely encountered as finds, and the Small Knidian Amphora samples, which have just been brought to the literature, can be considered as a new find area for amphora studies. Of the 192 Knidian amphorae, whose form can be traced, within a wide historical scale from the IVth century BC to the IIIrd century AD, only a group that best represents the form was included in the evaluation. Because in the typology and analogy, six different Knidian amphora types belonging to the Proto-Knidian, Zenon Group, Small Knidian, Canonical Knidian, Late Knidian Type I, and Type II classifications were identified. In this context, our study, aims to contribute to the historical process by presenting new data on the classification, dating, commercial communication, and interaction of Xanthos, which are evaluated according to both typology and production characteristics. In addition, it is thought that the evaluations made with the material cultural remains will contribute to the commercial and political connections both in the region and in Xanthos.

Background: To investigate the relationship between anxiety and white coat hypertension (WCH) using the hospital anxiety and depression scale-anxiety (HADS-A) score. Methods: Participants lacking a pre-existing diagnosis of hypertension but displaying increased office blood pressure were included in this study. Subsequently, they were classified as either newly diagnosed sustained hypertension (SustHT) or white coat hypertension (WCH) patients, as determined by 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring measurements. The assessment of their anxiety levels was conducted using the HADS-A questionnaire. We performed regression, comparative, and sensitivity analyses to elucidate the association between anxiety and WCH. Results: In this cohort of 303 consecutive individuals (mean age 54 years, 46% female), 81 (26.7%) patients were diagnosed with WCH. Those with WCH were younger (49 vs. 56 years, P < .001), had higher heart rate (85 vs. 76 bpm, P < .001) and exhibited a female predominance (56% vs. 43%, P = .049) compared to individuals with SustHT. The HADS-A was higher in WCH than in SustHT (9.0 ± 2.9 vs. 6.6 ± 2.6, P < .001). Furthermore, HADS-A showed positive correlation with systolic and diastolic pressures measured in the outpatient clinic (r=0.523 and r=0.387, respectively; P < .001 for both). The full model with HADS-A had better discriminatory power (Harrell's c-index 0.82 vs. 0.77, P = .0025), increased calibration, and a greater net benefit than the base model without. The ROC curve analysis, using a cut-off of >6 for HADS-A, demonstrated a sensitivity of 76.5% and specificity of 53.6% in detecting WCH (Area Under the Curve=0.72, P < .001). Conclusions: Our study revealed that individuals with WCH, in comparison to those with SustHT, exhibit a higher level of anxiety as indicated by HADS-A. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is characterized by collection of fluid in third spaces in in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles and can result in the cancellation of the cycle and be fatal in 3 women out of 100,000. The aim of this study is to compare the admission of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) subcutaneously versus intracavitary during ovum pick-up (OPU) in agonist induced ovulation in IVF cycles in terms of pregnancy outcomes. Methods: This study was carried out in Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Assisted Reproductive Techniques Clinic as a retrospective study. 157 patients who underwent IVF treatment between January 2018 and February 2020, with ≥25 follicles detected in ultrasound and 1 mg of triptorelin acetate was administered for ovulation trigger, and 36 hours later of whom ≤20 oocytes were obtained in OPU were enrolled in this study. 109 patients who were administered 1500 IU of hCG subcutaneously belonged to Group 1, and 1500 IU hCG was administered intracavitary to 48 patients as Group 2. Results: Infertility causes, and characteristics of both groups were similar. Number of retrieved oocytes, Metaphase 2 (MII) oocytes and fertilization rates were similar in both groups. Implantation rate per embryo transferred was higher in the intracavitary group (p = 0.01). There was no significant difference for pregnancy rate, clinical pregnancy rate, ongoing pregnancy rate, livebirth rate and OHSS frequency between both groups. Twin pregnancy rate was significantly higher in the intracavitary group. Conclusions: Administration of 1500 IU hCG intracavitary at the time of OPU is associated with improved implantation rates when compared to subcutaneous hCG administration without a significant raise in OHSS occurrence. Prospective, randomized studies with bigger patient cohort are needed.

Coronary collateral circulation (CCC) comprises vascular pathways that activate in severe coronary stenosis to preserve perfusion. This study investigates the relationship between CCC development and male sex steroids. A retrospective analysis was performed on 149 male patients with ≥ 95% stenosis in epicardial coronary arteries and 29 with normal coronaries, identified via coronary angiography between January 2017 and December 2023. The cohort included 29 control patients, 99 with well collateral flow (WCF), and 50 with poor collateral flow (PCF). Serum leve ls of total testosterone, free testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S), and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) were measured. Ordinal and logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between sex steroid levels and collateral development. The PCF group exhibited higher rates of diabetes mellitus (p=0.001) and smoking (p<0.001). The WCF group had significantly higher levels of total testosterone (350.6 ± 78.5 vs. 273.8 ± 59.9 ng/dL, p<0.001), free testosterone (12.1 ± 3.3 vs. 7.2 ± 2.0 pg/mL, p<0.001), DHEA-S (180.5 ± 69.5 vs. 131.9 ± 87.9 μg/dL, p<0.001), and SHBG (35.3 ± 11.0 vs. 24.8 ± 6.9 nmol/L, p<0.001). Multiple logistic regression revealed that DM [OR = 1.923, 95% CI (1.041--4.092), p = 0.012] directly predicted PCF, whereas free testosterone [OR = 0.689, 95% CI (0.557--0.851), p < 0.001] and SHBG [OR = 0.903, 95% CI (0.849--0.960), p = 0.001] were inversely predictors. The study highlights the important role of sex steroids in coronary collateral development, with free testoster one and SHBG as key predictors of CCC levels in men with coronary occlusion. Kekova Island located in the boundaries of the Demre District of Antalya. Surveys on Kekova Island revealed three settlements. In these settlements four churches were identified. There are many in this church liturgical stone work, but only in two churches, a total of eight Corinthian capital was found broken in most cases. The Corinthian capitals were subject to my work were first handled according to the place of the find, then five different groups were separated in terms of their stylistic features and dated from similar ones. All of the assessed Corinthian capital were dated between the second half of the 5th century AD and the first half of the 6th century AD.

Brugada Syndrome Type 1 is an arrhythmogenic disorder triggered by various etiologies, including febrile illness, pregnancy, and certain medications. Cardiac involvement (CI) is rare in Behçet syndrome (BS), but the important point is that CI may be the first manifestation of the disease. The presence of CI worsens the prognosis of BS, so early diagnosis and early initiation of immunosuppressive treatment (IST) are vital. Coronary aneurysm may develop spontaneously in these patients, or any vascular intervention may cause aneurysm with a pathergy‐like reaction. The risk of restenosis is high after percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass surgery applied without IST. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that IST constitutes the main step of treatment. Background: In the context of atherogenesis and the development of coronary artery disease, inflammation and lipid metabolism are known to be significant contributing factors. This study aimed to explore the potential association between the Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) and plaque burden in patients who underwent intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) examination. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on a cohort of seventy-six consecutive patients who had undergone IVUS between June 2020 and May 2023. AIP, calculated as the logarithm of plasma triglyceride divided by high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, was utilized as a measure of atherogenicity. Plaque burden, expressed as a percentage, was determined by dividing the total plaque area by the total vessel area. Multivariate regression analysis and Spearman's correlation analysis were employed to investigate the relationship between AIP and high plaque burden. Results: The median age of the overall population was 59 years (interquartile range: 55-68), with males comprising 72.4% of the sample. Univariate regression analysis revealed that age, diabetes mellitus (DM), smoking, and AIP were significant predictors of plaque burden. Furthermore, multivariate regression analysis indicated that AIP and DM independently predicted high plaque burden (odds ratio [OR] = 1.53, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.12-2.02, p = 0.021). Spearman's correlation analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between the AIP index and high plaque burden (rho: 0.682, p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study provides evidence that the AIP index, a surrogate marker of atherosclerosis, may serve as a predictive tool for assessing plaque burden in patients undergoing IVUS examination. These findings contribute to our understanding of the association between lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherogenesis, potentially aiding in risk assessment and disease management. Our study aims to report the findings of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), Risk of Paradoxical Embolism (RoPE) score, the Patent Foramen Ovale-Associated Stroke Causal Likelihood (PASCAL) classification analyses, and follow-up results after percutaneous PFO closure in patients diagnosed with cryptogenic stroke. The medical records of patients with acute arterial ischemic stroke who were diagnosed with PFO by TEE and applied percutaneous PFO closure between 2020-2023 were reviewed. The echocardiography (Echo) score, the RoPE score, and the PASCAL classification were calculated for all patients as indicated in the literature. Newly developed arrhythmia, recurrent stroke, and cardiovascular death were recorded during follow-up. A total of 65 patients were included in the study. The median age was 41 years [range:33 -47]), the median RoPE score was 8, and the Echo score was 3. While 29.2% of the patients were in the possible group according to the PASCAL classification, 70.8% were in the probable group. We did not have any patients in the unlikely group. Recurrent ischemic stroke was detected in only two patients at a median follow-up of 12.1 months. No cardiac arrhythmia or cardiovascular death was observed. PFO closure in PFO-associated stroke patients was safe, with a low incidence of arrhythmia and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events during the short -term follow-up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Serum uric asid to albumin ratio (UAR) has been defined as an inflammation-based prognostic marker. Systemic pro-coagulant and pro-inflammatory factors underlie the pathophysiology and prognosis of acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Hemodynamic parameters, cardiac function and some laboratory parameters are important factors for predicting APE prognosis. Many different scoring systems have been developed to predict prognosis in APE, but precise predictors of mortality are still unclear. We evaluated prognostic value of UAR in patients with APE. Method This was a retrospective, cros-sectional, cohort study. A total of 201 patients hospitalized with acute PE between Nowember 2015 and February 2018 were enrolled in this study. All patients underwent computed tomography pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) to confirm pulmonary embolism. Admission serum levels of uric asid and albumin were used for calculation of UAR. A prediction model was created for independent predictors of one-month mortality. Results: 31 (15 %) died within 30 days of PE. Advanced age, low blood pressure, low albumin level, high hs-CRP and uric acid levels and UAR were observed more frequently in the non-survive group. In the univariate regression analysis, UAR (OR, 2.0; 95% CI, 1.4-2.9, p<0.001), mean-blood pressure (OR, 0.98; 95% CI, 0.97-1.00, p=0.046), hs-CRP (OR, 1.0; 95% CI, 1.00-1.01, p=0.011) and age (OR, 1.11; 95% CI, 1.06-1.17, p<0.001) were predictors of short term mortality. Multivariate analysis also showed that UAR (OR, 3.03; 95% CI, 1.07-8.56, p=0.035), and age (OR, 1.08; 95% CI, 1.03-1.14, p=0.001) were associated with one-month mortality following APE. In the receiver operating characteristic curve, the optimal cutoff value of UAR to predict a one-month mortality was 1161, with 91% sensitivity and 90% specificity (area under the curve: 0.957). A graph was revealed to show the uric acid/albumin ratio values of the study population broken down by monthly mortality. Conclusion UAR was a novel, available, easily measurable marker of inflammation seemed to be an independent predictor of short-term mortality in patients with APE. UAR was a more powerful tool than traditional inflammatory markers for predicting the severity of disease in these patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
