This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in Keşan and İpsala, two districts of Edirne. The present study was conducted to determine the level of cigarette consumption among smokers and the factors affecting cigarette consumption. The study sample included 888 smokers, all over 18 years of age. A questionnaire consisting of 21 questions was administered to the participants. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 21. Of the participants, 57% started smoking due to peer influence. Smoking 6 or more packs of cigarettes per week was more prevalent among those having an elementary school education or less (77.2%) compared to high school graduates (65.1%), or university graduates (60.5%). Indeed, smoking 6 or more packs of cigarettes each week was 23 times more likely among those who considered themselves heavy smokers than among those who considered themselves light smokers. Cigarette consumption was associated with sociodemographic variables such as age, education, and gender. The sociodemographic factors associated with smoking discovered in this study could guide and support the development of public health strategies to discourage people from smoking. Objective: This study was conducted as a descriptive study to investigate the problems and expectations of intensive care unit nurses in Turkey. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with the participation of 207 volunteer nurses working in different hospitals' various intensive care nurses symposium organized in cooperation with İstanbul Health Care Directorate and İstanbul University in 2010. In gathering data; a questionnaire consisting of 39 multiple choice questions was prepared in the light of literature by researchers in order to determine descriptive characteristics, opinions and experiences of intensive care nurses. The necessary permissions were taken before the research and informed consent was taken from all the participants. Statistical analyzes of the research data were made with NCSS (Number Cruncher Statistical System) 2007 package program. Descriptive statistical methods (frequency distributions) were used in evaluation of data. Results: As a result of the research, for intensive care nurses; 78% of them work 40-50 hours per week on average, 52.2% of them should be in the form of post-graduate education for intensive care nursing. 52.5% of nurses said that they found the number of nurses working in their unit insufficient, 74.6% of nurses said that they did not find their salaries adequate and 57.5% of nurses said that employment security was not provided. Conclusion: It is important that the expectations of the intensive care workers in terms of job satisfaction are reflected positively in physical and psychological care of critical patients. Objective: To determine women's exposure to domestic violence, it's affecting factors and coping methods., Methods: The descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted from September to December 2017 and comprised married women living in Kesan, a district in the Turkish province of Edirne. A self-generated questionnaire was used to gather sociodemographic data and women's exposure to domestic violence. SPSS 16 was used to analyse data., Results: Of the 586 subjects, 321(55%) were aged up to 40 years, while 265(45%) were aged 41 years or more. Domestic violence was reported by 156(26.6%) women. Beating ranked first among physical violence behavior reported by 83(14.2%) subjects. Name-calling and yelling ranked first among verbal violence behaviour reported by 118(20.1%). Keeping women at a certain distance rankedfirst among emotional violence behaviour, reported by 95(16.2%). Not purchasing the fundamental needs of the home ranked first among the economic violence behaviour, reported by 38(6.5%). Finally, 14(2.4%) reported being physically forced to engage in a sexual act, which ranked first among sexual violence behaviour. From among the women abused, 114(66.7%) women said violence occurred because of the instant anger of their partners, and 69(44.2%)said they did not apply to any officialinstitution for help., Conclusions: Women preferred to remain silent about domestic violence. There is a need to introduce urgent prevention programmes to end domestic violence.
