- Abstract
The time is pertinent for a review of enterprise and entrepreneurship extracurricular activity. An experience outside the classroom that enables students to benefit from learning through experimentation and experience, take leadership of their learning journeys, and participate in activities tailored to their entrepreneurial ambitions. Reviewing the growth and development of enterprise and entrepreneurship extracurricular activities within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) globally, Extracurricular Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Activity considers the form these activities take – their benefits and impacts upon participants, institutions, and the wider community. The authors shine a light on an underrepresented area of enterprise and entrepreneurship education to encourage discussion and development of practice and policy, but also to fuel appreciation and understanding of the topic. Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship Research is an official book series of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). Each volume is designed around a specific theme of importance to the entrepreneurship and small business community with articles collectively exploring and developing theory and practice in the field.

- Abstract
This book explores the sea change in thinking about how to educate students of entrepreneurship, uses extant theory to develop a conceptual model of entrepreneurship skill development, describes an assessment tool for operationalizing this model, discusses how this tool can be utilized to develop entrepreneurship skills, and offers examples from the application of our approach in educational settings. It concludes with implications of this methodology for furthering both entrepreneurship education and the research that shapes it. The authors present an entrepreneurship skills assessment tool, which uses a theory of measurement that breaks from psychometrics (predictive approaches) and honors the volatility and uncertainty that characterizes entrepreneurship. This assessment tool can be used to integrate curriculum and co-curricular activities to ensure skill development. Focusing on a methodology for the measurement and development of entrepreneurship skills, this book will serveas a valuable resource to researchers and students alike.

- Abstract
Can you learn to be an entrepreneur in a week? The book focuses on short entrepreneurship education initiatives and includes eleven courses from European research-based universities. The book provides insights on best practice and lessons learned from experience for potential and current organizers of such initiatives. Entrepreneurship initiatives are a common response to top-down decisions to include entrepreneurship in all disciplines and study programs. There is often also a regional or societal goal for these activities. Different types of programme are analysed, from those aiming to instil an entrepreneurial mindset, those preparing the individual for an entrepreneurial career to those based on collaborations between universities. The authors make comparisons of the audiences, goals, organization and pedagogical approaches in each case to answer whether entrepreneurship can be taught in one week. By reading this book university managers, course designers and those delivering entrepreneurship initiatives will be able to make a more informed decision regarding if and how they should be organized. - Abstract
This book explores how entrepreneurship education can be embedded throughout the learner's lifetime. To date, entrepreneurship education has tended to begin on an ad hoc basis at the higher education level: some institutions offer it as an elective or compulsory course, while others offer it as a degree program. In most countries, entrepreneurship has not yet been widely adopted in the core curriculum, and formal entrepreneurship education is almost exclusively offered to young learners. In addition to presenting critical views on who can benefit from entrepreneurship education, including children/schoolchildren, students in higher education and older people, the book proposes a model of holistic entrepreneurship education to promote a lifelong learning journey for educators and learners alike.

- Abstract
One sunny afternoon in 1982, a young businessman experienced a terrifying mugging in New York City that shook him to his core. Tortured by nightmares about the teens who roughed him up, Steve Mariotti sought counseling. When his therapist suggested that he face his fears, Mariotti closed his small import-export business and became a teacher at the city's most notorious public school--Boys and Girls High in Bed-Stuy. Although his nightmares promptly ceased, Mariotti's out-of-control students rapidly drove him to despair. One day, Mariotti stepped out of the classroom so his students wouldn't see him cry. In a desperate move to save his job, he took off his watch and marched back in with an impromptu sales pitch for it. To his astonishment, his students were riveted. He was able to successfully lead a math lesson for the first time. Mariotti realized his students felt trapped in soul-crushing poverty. They saw zero connection between school and improving their lives. Whenever Mariotti connected their lessons to entrepreneurship, though, even his most disruptive students got excited about learning. School administrators disapproved of Mariotti discussing money in the classroom, however. He was repeatedly fired before receiving one last-ditch assignment: an offsite program for special-ed students expelled from the public schools for violent crimes. The success Mariotti had with these forgotten children—including coverage in the Daily News, The New York Times, and World News Tonight—inspired him to found the nonprofit Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship to bring entrepreneurship education to low-income youth. By turns tragic and hilarious, Goodbye Homeboy shares Mariotti's flaws and missteps as he connects deeply with his troubled students, and woos the most influential people in the world into helping them—saving himself in the process. Today, Mariotti is widely recognized as the world's leading advocate for entrepreneurship education. More than one million young people from Chicago to China have graduated from NFTE programs, and NFTE counts Sean Combs, Chelsea Clinton, Diana Davis Spencer, and many more business, entertainment, and community leaders among its staunchest supporters. As Goodbye Homeboy powerfully illustrates, a spark of hope really can empower us to overcome life's greatest hardships.

- Abstract
Just how should we teach entrepreneurship? This important book provides many of the answers to this challenging question. In developing the first signature pedagogy for entrepreneurship education, Colin Jones unites the contexts of enterprise and education at the intersection of scholarship, transformational learning and student engagement. Good teaching for entrepreneurship is shown to emerge both from the educator and the students'interest. For the educator, a process of scholarly leading is required to support student interest - from the alternate perspective, students require a willingness to welcome uncertainty and challenge the existing boundaries to effectively develop a capacity for self-negotiated action. A key guide for all entrepreneurship lecturers and tutors, written for all teaching contexts, this book will challenge you to teach'who you are', as well as what you know.

- Abstract
'The long-standing debate about entrepreneurship education has been given renewed impetus by the advent of experiential learning and student entrepreneurship. It is imperative therefore that entrepreneurship education research can make a contribution to our understanding about the direction and effectiveness of entrepreneurship education. In this volume, Alain Fayolle and an eminent set of contributors lay out frameworks and directions to guide much needed rigorous future research in this important area.'- Mike Wright, Imperial College London, UK'This book offers insightful and actionable ideas for improving entrepreneurship education, its evaluation and its underlying research process. Alain's compendium offers readers a deep dive into the underlying issues in teaching entrepreneurship, and goes beyond North American efforts to showcase European approaches. A worthwhile read for every entrepreneurship educator.'- Jerome A. Katz, Saint Louis University, US Elgar Research Agendas outline the future of research in a given area. Leading scholars are given the space to explore their subject in provocative ways, and map out the potential directions of travel. They are relevant but also visionary.Edited by Alain Fayolle, this Research Agenda tackles the need for additional and robust intellectual foundations in entrepreneurship education, both at theoretical and methodological levels. The authors show that it is essential to connect entrepreneurship education more firmly with societal demands. Identifying two key issues, the eminent authors first question what the current pedagogies and practices in entrepreneurship education are. Secondly, the authors question what knowledge is known about the relevancy, usefulness and efficiency of the current practices in entrepreneurship education. This book calls for a pragmatic and critical approach in the development of perspectives in entrepreneurship education. This book presents innovative ideas and provocative contributions to the debate with the intention of generating significant new concepts for future researchers, policy makers and practitioners in entrepreneurship. - Abstract
The growth of entrepreneurship research has been accompanied by an increased convergence and institutionalization of the field. In many ways this is of course positive, but it also represents how the field has become'mainstream'with the concomitant risk that individual scholars become embedded in a culture and incentive system that emphasizes and rewards incremental research questions, while reducing the incentives for scholars to conduct challenging research. This book challenges this status quo from accepted theories, methodologies and paradigmatic assumptions, to the relevance (or lack of) for contemporary practice and the impact of key journals on scholars'directions in entrepreneurship research. An invited selection of the younger generation of scholars within the field of entrepreneurship research adopt a critical and constructive posture on what has been achieved in entrepreneurship research, the main assumptions which underly it, but also open-up new paths for creative entrepreneurship research in the future. This is a must-read for all scholars, educators and advanced students in entrepreneurship research.
