4. Geysers' Dust Dynamics Inside the Hill Sphere of Enceladus.

In this work, we study the trajectories of the dust particles ejected in the geysers of the moon Enceladus, inside its Hill sphere, where its gravitational influence dominates. Our goal is to determine the properties of the particles that escape from the moon or of those that eventually impact on its surface. The analysis considers the gravity of Enceladus, the Lorentz force due to Saturn's magnetic field and the gas drag from the geysers. The local magnetic field around Enceladus is derived from an interpolation of Cassini data from six flybys. In general, we obtain that grain sizes and launching speeds define whether grains escape, though the launching angle may also play an important role in some cases. Plain Language Summary: Dust grains expelled from the geysers of the small Saturnian moon Enceladus follow particular trajectories determined by the different forces like the gravity of the moon, the gas drag of the geysers and the magnetic field of Saturn. In this work we study the dynamics of these grains inside a region around the moon, called the Hill sphere, where its gravitational influence dominates, in order to determine the effects of the different forces on the grains, as well as the properties of grains, like their size, mass and electric charge. - Abstract
A new set of six accurate ab initio potential energy surfaces (PESs) is presented for the first three singlet and triplet states of LiH
2 + (1,21 A′, 11 A′′, 1,23 A′, and 13 A′′ states, where four of them are investigated for the first time), which have allowed new detailed studies gaining a global view on this interesting system. These states are relevant for the study of the most important reactions of lithium chemistry in the early universe. More than 45 000 energy points were calculated using the multi-reference configuration interaction level of theory using explicitly correlated methods (ic-MRCI-F12), and the results obtained for each individual electronic state were fitted to an analytical function. Using quasiclassical trajectories and considering the initial diatomic fragment in the ground rovibrational state, we have determined the integral cross sections for the H + LiH+ (X2 Σ+ , C2 Π) and H+ + LiH(X1 Σ+ , B1 Π) reactions. In these calculations all available reaction channels were considered: the chemically most important H or H+ transfer/abstraction as well as atom exchange and collision induced dissociation for up to 1.0 eV of collision energy. Spain was one of the European countries with the highest incidence during the first wave. As a part of a consortium to monitor and study the evolution of the epidemic, we sequenced 2,170 samples, diagnosed mostly before lockdown measures. Here, we identified at least 500 introductions from multiple international sources and documented the early rise of two dominant Spanish epidemic clades (SECs), probably amplified by superspreading events. Both SECs were related closely to the initial Asian variants of SARS-CoV-2 and spread widely across Spain. [ES] El presente Trabajo Fin de Máster se desarrolla en el campo de la acústica, concretamente en el centrado en la modelización de la propagación de ondas sonoras en el interior de los filtros de partículas, que en los últimos años se han desarrollado en el ámbito automovilístico ante el endurecimiento de las leyes reguladoras de las emisiones contaminantes, especialmente en los motores diésel. Pese a tener este enfoque fundamental en su diseño, estos también tienen una influencia no despreciable en el ruido emitido por los motores de combustión. Inicialmente se presentan los fundamentos acústicos básicos, tanto en conductos como en los monolitos de filtros de partículas. Posteriormente se detalla la modelización mediante elementos finitos, basada en un modelo que admite ondas tridimensionales en los conductos y propagación unidimensional en el monolito, esta última más aproximada a la realidad. Para ello se desarrolla una metodología completa de modelización acústica 3D mediante el método de elementos finitos (MEF) en base al programa comercial Ansys, en sus versiones APDL y Workbench. Ello es posible ya que en las últimas versiones se han incorporado mejoras sustanciales en los módulos correspondientes al análisis acústico, proporcionando resultados satisfactorios. El doble enfoque presentado permite una adecuada validación de la metodología. Para mostrar el potencial y versatilidad de la metodología desarrollada, se consideran diferentes tipos de geometrías como pueden ser rectangular, circular o triangular. También se estudiarán los efectos del descentrado del conducto de salida del filtro así como cuatro tipos distintos de monolito. Durante la vida útil del filtro se produce la deposición de hollín en este, haciendo necesaria su regeneración, analizando por lo tanto el efecto del hollín en el ruido emitido, especialmente en el parámetro conocido como índice de perdida de transmisión (TL). Per tant, amb les eines desenvolupades es du a terme un estudi exhaustiu de la influència en l'atenuació acústica de paràmetres de disseny i funcionament del filtre de partícules dièsel., [EN] The present Master's Final Project is developed in the field of acoustics, specifically in the one centred on the modelling of sound wave propagation inside particulate filters, which in recent years has been developed in the automotive field in the face of the hardening of the laws regulating polluting emissions, especially in diesel engines. Despite this fundamental approach in their design, they also have a significant influence on the noise emitted by combustion engines. Initially the basic acoustic fundamentals are presented, both in ducts and in particulate filter monoliths. Subsequently, finite element modelling is detailed, based on a model that admits three-dimensional waves in the ducts and one-dimensional propagation in the monolith, the latter being closer to reality. For this purpose, a complete 3D acoustic modelling methodology is developed using the finite element method (FEM) based on the commercial program Ansys, in its APDL and Workbench versions. This is possible because in the latest versions substantial improvements have been incorporated in the modules corresponding to the acoustic analysis, providing satisfactory results. The double approach presented allows for an adequate validation of the methodology To show the potential and versatility of the developed methodology, different types of geometries such as rectangular, circular or triangular are considered. The effects of the offset of the filter outlet duct will also be studied, as well as four different types of monolith. During the life of the filter, soot is deposited on it, making its regeneration necessary. Therefore, the effect of soot on the emitted noise will be analyzed, especially on the parameter known as transmission loss index (TL). Therefore, with the tools developed, an exhaustive study of the influence on the acoustic attenuation of design and operating parameters of the diesel particulate filter is carried out.

Background: Anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 S antibodies prevent viral replication. Critically ill COVID‐19 patients show viral material in plasma, associated with a dysregulated host response. If these antibodies influence survival and viral dissemination in ICU‐COVID patients is unknown. Patients/Methods: We studied the impact of anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 S antibodies levels on survival, viral RNA‐load in plasma, and N‐antigenaemia in 92 COVID‐19 patients over ICU admission. Results: Frequency of N‐antigenaemia was >2.5‐fold higher in absence of antibodies. Antibodies correlated inversely with viral RNA‐load in plasma, representing a protective factor against mortality (adjusted HR [CI 95%], p): (S IgM [AUC ≥ 60]: 0.44 [0.22; 0.88], 0.020); (S IgG [AUC ≥ 237]: 0.31 [0.16; 0.61], <0.001). Viral RNA‐load in plasma and N‐antigenaemia predicted increased mortality: (N1‐viral load [≥2.156 copies/ml]: 2.25 [1.16; 4.36], 0.016); (N‐antigenaemia: 2.45 [1.27; 4.69], 0.007). Conclusions: Low anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 S antibody levels predict mortality in critical COVID‐19. Our findings support that these antibodies contribute to prevent systemic dissemination of SARS‐CoV‐2. [ES] La caracterización hidráulica de un inyector es fundamental para comprender su funcionamiento. Para conocer su comportamiento bajo los regímenes de operación deseados hace falta controlar correctamente las condiciones en las cuales trabaja. El objetivo del presente trabajo es hacer el diseño y montaje de un dispositivo que funciona como un intercambiador de calor, diseñado para mantener las temperaturas, tanto del inyector como del combustible dentro del tasímetro, a los niveles deseados para medir la tasa de inyección de dicho inyector. Se utilizarán herramientas computarizadas y medidas experimentales para comparar el efecto que tiene este sistema sobre el control de la temperatura y sobre la tasa de inyección., [EN] The hydraulic characterization of an injector is fundamental to understand its operation. In order to know its behavior under the desired operating regimes, it is necessary to correctly control the conditions in which it works. The objective of this paper is to design and assemble a device that works as a heat exchanger, designed to maintain the temperatures of both the injector as the fuel inside the tasimeter, at the desired levels to measure the injection rate of said injector. Computerized tools and experimental measures will be used to compare the eect that this system has on the control of temperature and on the rate of injection.

Valorar tres programas de formación inicial en metodología de la investigación. Discursos escritos obtenidos mediante la recolección de documentos y discursos obtenidos de los sujetos involucrados en los programas de formación. La evaluación de programas emplea el estudio de caso como estrategia. Se pudo advertir que los enfoques sobre la formación docente y la investigación educativa gravitan en los programas de formación. Asimismo, las dificultades detectadas tanto en planes y programas de estudio como en el desarrollo y los resultados de las propuestas formativas plantean la necesidad de efectuar modificaciones que transformen profundamente la enseñanza de la metodología de la investigación. Finalmente se aportan elementos sustantivos que permitirán el diseño y el desarrollo de una propuesta pedagógico-didáctica que mejore los programas de formación inicial en esta disciplina. El presente trabajo es una Evaluación de Programas que emplea al "estudio de caso" como una estrategia para valorar tres Programas de Formación inicial en Metodología de la Investigación desarrollada en la Facultad de Ciencias Humanas (FCH), de la Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL) durante el ciclo lectivo correspondiente a 1999. Para efectuar este estudio, se recopilan informaciones provenientes de dos corpus de naturaleza diferente; por un lado, los discursos escritos obtenidos mediante la recolección de documentos que están relacionados con el problema; por el otro, los discursos obtenidos de los sujetos involucrados en los programas de formación mediante entrevistas y cuestionarios.Como resultado de la evaluación efectuada se pudo advertir que los enfoques sobre la formación docente y la investigación educativa gravitan en los programas de formación. Asimismo, las dificultades detectadas tanto en planes y programas de estudio como en el desarrollo y los resultados de las propuestas formativas plantean la necesidad de efectuar modificaciones que transformen profundamente la enseñanza de la metodología de la investigación.Finalmente se aportan elementos sustantivos que permitirán el diseño y el desarrollo de una propuesta pedagógico-didáctica que mejore los programas de formación inicial en esta disciplina., The present work is a Program Evaluation that applies "case study" as a strategy to evaluate three Teacher Training Programs on Research Methodology. It has been carried out at Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Universidad Nacional de San Luis, Argentina, during 1999. Information coming from two corpuses, different in nature, has been compiled for this work: the written discourse obtained by gathering documents related to the problem, and the discourse of the subjects involved in the experience obtained through interviews and questionnaires.As a result of the evaluation, it can be seen that the approaches to Teacher Training and Educational Research influence the training programs. The difficulties found in both the curricula and syllabuses, as well as in the development and results of the pedagogical experiences, put into evidence the need to transform the teaching of Research Methodology. Finally, substantial aspects concerning the design and development of a pedagogical and didactical proposal are given here in order to improve the Teacher Training Programs.

The O(3P) + CH4reaction has beeninvestigatedusing the quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) method and an abinitiopseudotriatomic potential energy surface (PES). Thishas been mainly motivated by very recent experiments which supportthe reliability of the triatomic modeling even at high collision energy(⟨Ecol⟩ = 64 kcal mol–1). The QCT results agree rather well with the experiments(translational and angular distributions of products); i.e., the ab initiopseudotriatomic modeling “captures”the essence of the reaction dynamics, although the PES was not optimizedfor high Ecol. Furthermore, similar experimentson the O(3P) + CD4reaction at moderate Ecol(12.49 kcal mol–1) havealso been of a large interest here and, under these softer reactionconditions, the QCT method leads to results which are almost in quantitativeagreement with experiments. The utility of the ab initiopseudotriatomic modeling has also been recognized for other analogoussystems (X + CH4) but with very different PESs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
We studied the effects of collision energy (ET) on the dynamics of the title reaction using the quasiclassical trajectory method on an analytical triatomic potential energy surface that we had derived for this system. We compared the dependence of the scalar and two-vector properties of the reaction on ET with experimental data and obtained a quite good agreement. The results can be explained in terms of the coexistence of two microscopic reaction mechanisms: insertion and abstraction. The former mechanism is the most important one, although the contribution of the latter increases with ET .
