- Abstract
YouTube is currently facing an exponential proliferation of content openly endorsing hate speech. In the case at hand, we propose as a hypothesis (H1) that the use of symbolic content allows for the dissemination of a jihadist ideology on YouTube without the need to be particularly explicit in promoting violent discourse. Thus, a strategic masking formula is employed, which enables online products to be sustained for a considerable amount of time, effectively bypassing content restriction policies. To verify this hypothesis, we conducted a symbolic analysis of a documentary piece titled "Heirs of Glory," disseminated on YouTube and produced by a jihadist organization known as Jabhat al Nusrah. The results indicate that 74.04% of the scenes in the piece show symbolic content of a jihadist nature, whose religious exegesis precisely favors a masking of extremist doctrine., YouTube se enfrenta en la actualidad a una multiplicación exponencial de contenidos que abiertamente amparan los discursos de odio. This paper proposes a Randomized Response methodology where the report may be produced by one of two procedures for scrambling. The sampler designs a Bernoulli experiment for deciding which scrambling procedure is to be used by the respondent . Then, the response is modeled by a two stage RR procedure. The interviewed selects one of the two scrambling procedures. The respondent gives the response without informing which procedure was selected. The model is developed for Simple Random Sampling and Stratified designs. The behavior of the proposed models is evaluated using real data of Mexico Covid19. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The potential for wind energy facilities to affect species of grouse In the grasslands of the Great Plains of North America Is a conservation concern. Communication by male Greater Prairie-Chickens [Tympanuchus cupido pinnatus) Is essential for lek mating displays and Includes low-frequency vocalizations that could be disrupted by wind turbine noise. We studied the effects of wind turbine noise on the boom, cackle, whine, and whoop vocalizations of male Greater Prairie-Chickens recorded at 14 leks located 703 m to 23 km away from a wind energy facility near Ainsworth, Brown County, Nebraska, USA, In 2013 and 2014. First, we assessed ambient sound levels at our study sites. Wind turbine noise contributed to the soundscape; leks <1,000 m from wind turbines had higher levels of ambient sound than expected on the basis of recordings obtained at remote locations. Our second objective was to determine whether the acoustic characteristics of the 4 vocalizations recorded near the wind energy facility differed from those recorded farther away. At leks within 1,000 m of the wind energy facility, boom and whoop sound pressure levels were higher (boom 2% higher; whoop 5% higher), boom duration was 3% shorter, whine fundamental frequency was 11% higher, and blphonatlons In cackle vocalizations occurred 15% less often. These differences suggest that male Greater Prairie-Chickens adjust the acoustic properties of their vocalizations In response to the sounds generated by turbines at wind energy facilities. The effect of the adjustments reported here on the mating success of males near wind energy facilities remains to be determined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Successful communication between a sender and a receiver is critical for coordinating behaviors between organisms. This coordination can be disturbed by anthropogenic noise, which has been shown to alter vocal signal production in many species of birds. In addition to affecting senders, noise may also alter reception and behavioral response. Here we investigated the effects of anthropogenic noise on behavioral response to acoustic signals in mixed-species flocks of songbirds. We used playbacks of Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) chick-a-dee calls and local anthropogenic noise to determine how receivers respond to calls with and without added noise. We found that the addition of noise caused a significant decrease of ~80% in the number of birds that approached the speaker during a chick-a-dee call playback; however, we saw no effect of noise on feeding behavior. Our data support the hypothesis that anthropogenic noise can alter behavioral responses to chick-a-dee calls. This finding is of particular concern because chick-a-dee calls are given in response to a threatening stimulus. If receivers are slow to respond to these warnings, they may be unable to take advantage of the warning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With an increase in mobile data collection through GPS and other location-based services, there have been a number of attempts to apply geomasking techniques to published route data in order to protect trajectory privacy. Yet, the utility of masked trajectory data and its value to transportation research remain in question. This study examines how the inferred route changes when origin and destination data are masked to protect privacy, as well as calculates the anonymity of each route traveled by a sample of New York City taxi cabs. It is determined that the routes between locations masked by random perturbation are significantly different from the original routes and that a network-based data product suppressing unique routes is a viable solution to release both accurate route statistics and protect confidentiality. Abstract This writing addresses the topic of theatrical representation as an articulation of a constant process of artifice and socio-historical and individual masking present in the novels El jardin de al lado by Jose Donoso and Desgracia by John M. Coetzee. This approach is carried out through the interpretative analysis of different passages contained in both works, and the inclusion of other writings by the authors. So, another configuration of the roles and spaces described will be observed, through which a proposal is developed that emerges from the character/reader towards an actor/spectator, whose presences unfold following the theatrical codes of montage and the mask like artificial forms of representation.

[EN] The main impact of continuous low-frequency noise generated by marine traffic is masking in cetaceans, which consists of a decrease in the perception of a sound signal due to noise. Thus, the reduction of anthropogenic noise is a global concern and has stimulated scientists to develop methods to assess the environmental status of underwater noise. In this study, the calculation of an impact factor (IF) was used to evaluate the Gulf of Lions. The presence of Tursiops truncatus dolphins was observed in all cells. The IF represents the spatiotemporal percentage of the excess level (EL) at 63 HZ, with respect to the level of a reference zone. Thus, the higher the IF the greater the habitat disturbance. The IF was calculated from the 25th (P25) and 75th (P75) percentile of the EL distribution. For P25, an IF of 75.53% was obtained, and for P75, an IF of 25.42%. In the first case, the impact factor is quite high, indicating a situation of high disturbance, which can generate masking and requires the implementation of measures to reduce excess noise.

- Abstract
The virtual subject that circulates through network and lives their spaces has the opportunity to play his own identity or create masks from which to act and to meet other surfers. In the environment of apparent freedom of the new electronic medium, the possibilities of narrative representations fluctuate from the invisibility, masking and disguise, to the more "extimist" hypervisibility, going through all kinds of gradations of autofiction and collective identities. The present article analyzes different approaches of contemporary intellectuals with the aim of showing a panoramic view on the representation of the subject in the digital environment. The methodology for this study is the exploration of the different points of view from a practical and theoretical perspective. The results confirm the diversity of modes of identity generation in the internet network and the tendency to real or autofictional representations with the consequent exhibition of the identity. - Abstract
All of us who work using diagnostic tests, averages or hearing tests know that we do not always do it in the same way as other colleagues. We introduce personal, useful or methodological variables that are not always controllable that can produce at least two undesirable consequences. In the first place we can consider correct results that are not. Second, we need to know under what minimum conditions we all work. The Spanish Audiology Association (AEDA) presents with this text a suggestion of standardization of the Liminal Tonal Audiometry, which is in accordance with the ISO regulations and it aims to be a further contribution to the need we have in Spain to share this type of protocols ., Todos los que trabajamos utilizamos pruebas, medias o comprobaciones de la audición que no siempre las hacemos igual que el resto de colegas.

- Abstract
The purpose of this document is to define a standardized method, providing useful and necessary recommendations, to effectively and correctly perform manual Liminal Tonal Audiometry (ATL). This guide reflects the recommended procedure for airway and bone conduction audiometry, with and without masking and in most audiological settings, for both adults and older children. - Abstract
This procedure favors the elimination of noise, making it possible to improve the classification of the rest of the coverage, favoring the measurement and analysis of different statistical parameters that provide information on the field to be studied. Different methods for cloud masking have been proposed to date. However, they vary in terms of accuracy, processing time and ease of implementation. Traditionally pixel-based masking techniques have been used. Currently, new techniques based on artificial intelligence, focused on object level classification, are producing efficient results and running as the alternative to the traditional methodology. In the present work, a comparison of the different masking techniques, based on the pixel using the Fmask algorithm as well as based on the object, will be presented, for this an algorithm based on neural networks will be implemented. The advantages and defects of each technique will be analyzed, and a brief review will be given to what the coming years will hold in the cloud masking issue., Grado en Física

The Spanish Audiology Association (AEDA) presents with this text a suggestion of standardization of the Liminal Tonal Audiometry, which is in accordance with the ISO regulations and it aims to be a further contribution to the need we have in Spain to share this type of protocols .

In spite of every inner tomb part (chamber and corridor) is built using large stones and all the structure is placed under a low mound, these graves are different because they can be considered semi-hypogea. In this sense chamber is usually included in a wide dug space and corridor reaches the surface from this bottom area with a strong gradient. We can also see that visibility, to and from tombs, is never looked for. A discussion about graves true functions and monumentality has become necessary. We conclude that tombs are not located in order to territorial control, even if they are placed on exploitation areas. Funerary ritual main use can be related to avoid the risks that visible wealth differences and resources mobilization in funerals could have in a society which is fastly changing.

This article analyzes the eight strategies that allow masking the nineteenth century discourse of Reconquista, behind loves themes, in the six oriental of Jose Zorrilla. These poems mostly participate in the civic and conservative awareness of Zorrilla. It contributes with imaginary and collective representation of Spanish national identity, in the first half of 19th Century. The idealized image of women, sensoriality and sensuality, and the exoticism enable to mask a patriotic sense. It is based on the romantic medievalism, Spanish colonialism, race concept, border societies, Spanish imperial sovereignty, Castilian language, diurnal regimen of symbolic imagination; using of archetypical, historic, mythic, stereotypical and from Moorish Romance figures; stylistic using of descriptive and pathetic figures and tropes; as well as courtly topics of superiority of the love one, rejection of lover and dawn. Despite Zorrilla traditionalism, his liberal voice is heard on the sixth oriental. It proposes a new romantic love concept which, on one hand, criticizes the History distortion according to nationalistic policy and, on the other hand, subverts the hegemonic system, its official recognition and repression.

Young people today live in a media culture where the content they access and circulate through by means of different audiovisual technological devices is part of their informal education. In this context, the traditional advertising inserted into these media is giving way to new strategies through which advertising is masked within other content consumed by young people. They believe they are sufficiently well-informed to consider advertising's influence on them to be relative, and claim to be equipped with effective strategies that immunize them against it. However, as argued in this article, current advertising is implementing new persuasive forms that go unnoticed. We present an empirical investigation involving 154 students. Through an interactive computing device, the students processed a total of 223 stimuli corresponding to a graphic communication medium. The dependent variables include the degree of success in identifying the presence of advertising in the stimuli and reaction time. The results show how new masking strategies in advertising hinder young people's awareness that they are receiving advertising messages. This facilitates a failure to create counter-arguments. The results of this work open up the discussion of whether it is relevant to make known to young people, as part of their education and training, these current effective advertising strategies deriving from informal education systems. Noise may drive changes in the composition and abundance of animals that communicate vocally. Traffic produces low-frequency noise (<3 kHz) that can mask acoustic signals broadcast within the same frequency range. We evaluated whether birds that sing within the frequency range of traffic noise are affected by acoustic masking (i.e., increased background noise levels at the same frequency of vocalizations reduce detection of vocalization) and are less abundant in areas where traffic noise is loud (44-57 dB). We estimated occupancy, the expected probability that a given site is occupied by a species, and detection probabilities of eight forest-breeding birds in areas with and without traffic noise as a function of noise and three measures of habitat quality: percent forest cover, distance from plot center to the edge of forest, and the number of standing dead trees or snags. For the two species that vocalize at the lowest peak frequency (the frequency with the most energy) and the lowest overall frequency (Yellow-billed Cuckoo [Coccyzus americanus ] and White-breasted Nuthatch [Sitta carolinensis ]), the presence of traffic noise explained the greatest proportion of variance in occupancy, and these species were 10 times less likely to be found in noisy than in quiet plots. For species that had only portions of their vocalizations overlapped by traffic noise, either forest cover or distance to forest edge explained more variation in occupancy than noise or no single variable explained occupancy. Our results suggest that the effects of traffic noise may be especially pronounced for species that vocalize at low frequencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A recurring problem in aging research is separating the effects of age per se from the effects of high-frequency hearing loss. One approach is to present test stimuli in the presence of a high-pass masker to control confounding differences in high-frequency audibility across age groups. However, there is evidence that such maskers may affect older and younger listeners differently. In this study, pure-tone thresholds were measured for younger and older listeners in the presence of high-pass maskers. The age groups were carefully selected based on similar unmasked thresholds at each frequency. Thresholds were measured in quiet and in seven masker conditions. Both younger and older listeners showed increased threshold shift below the masker passband as the masker level increased. The degree of threshold shift was not greater for older versus younger listeners. Results suggest that high-pass maskers may be used to reduce high-frequency sensitivity differences between younger and older listeners without introducing differential masking effects. Odontocetes are generally vocally active animals since they rely predominantly on sound as it facilitates essential behaviors for their survival. For this reason, passive acoustics has become an important tool for the study of the ecology of these animals, and the impact of anthropogenic activities on the sea. In Argentina, bioacoustics research on cetaceans is in an initial phase that requires a first characterization of signals produced by different species that allows the subsequent implementation of passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) of these species. This study describes the complete acoustic repertoire of Commerson´s dolphins (Cephalorhynchus commersonii) recorded in Bahía San Julián and Ría Deseado, Santa Cruz province. In addition to the narrowband, high frequency clicks (over 100 kHz) previously described for the species, broadband clicks and whistles were recorded and characterized, both including frequencies well below 100 kHz. Whistles have a presumed function of parental communication between mothers and their offspring. In turn, three clusters of echolocation clicks were identified based on their peak frequency and bandwidth. Regarding the potential impact of anthropogenic noise, our results show a potential reduction of the acoustic space available for Commerson´s dolphins during echolocation and communication in the presence of different types of vessels. At the same time, some variations in the acoustic repertoire of Commerson´s dolphins were registered in noiser environments compared to quieter environments. This work contributes to establish a baseline for future applications such as PAM of cetaceans in the Argentine Sea, and to consider the problem of the potential masking of relevant sounds for species of small odontocetes by increased noise levels given the presence of different types of vessels in coastal areas of Argentina. Finally, recommendations for the management of certain nautical activities are proposed to strengthen conservation measures for the species in the province of Santa Cruz. It proposes a new romantic love concept which, on one hand, criticizes the History distortion according to nationalistic policy and, on the other hand, subverts the hegemonic system, its official recognition and repression., En este artículo se analizan las ocho estrategias que permiten enmascarar tras el tema amoroso el discurso decimonónico de la Reconquista en las seis orientales de José Zorrilla.
