The main performance indicators of hydrogen energy production should be improved. However, improving these factors also increase the operational costs of the companies. Because of this issue, there is a need for a priority analysis so that it can be possible to focus on more important factors. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to evaluate hydrogen production methods for global energy transition. In this process, a four-stage model has been proposed by getting evaluations from three different experts. Firstly, artificial intelligence-based decision-making can be implemented for expert prioritization. In the second stage, recommender system is conducted with collaborative filtering to complete the missing evaluations. Thirdly, selected criteria are weighted by using M-SWARA with QPFRS. Finally, method alternatives for hydrogen production are ranked via quantum picture fuzzy rough sets adopted VIKOR. The biggest contribution for doing this study is that artificial intelligence technique is integrated into the model and experts' importance coefficients are can be computed. Additionally, by using the collaborative filtering technique, empty evaluations can be filled scientifically. This contributes to the quality of the analysis process in many ways. Thanks to this technique, experts are given the opportunity not to answer questions they are not very sure about. The findings indicate that renewable energy expansion, energy efficiency and sustainable development are the most important criteria for global energy transition in hydrogen production. On the other side, the ranking results give information that thermal processes including steam methane reforming and biomass gasification is the most appropriate method alternatives for hydrogen production. Based on these analysis results, it is strongly recommended that research and development activities should be improved to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the renewable energy projects. The catastrophic effects of climate change can be mitigated by transitioning to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower while utilizing hydrogen (H 2) as an energy carrier. As renewable fuel sources are intermittent and location-specific, large-scale, long-term storage options for H 2 must be explored with high necessity. Subsurface hydrogen storage in saline aquifers provides a vital scope to store H 2 gas in available pore voids with minimal environmental risk. In this work, a highly heterogeneous porous micromodel was used to study the immiscible two-phase dynamics at high-temperature, high-pressure saline aquifer conditions using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation based on volume of fluid (VOF) method. A set of microfluidic experiments were carried out under atmospheric conditions to validate the numerical model. The VOF model was observed to show good agreement with microfluidic experiments. An unstable displacement pattern with viscous fingering was observed during various flow conditions that captured high pressure (15 and 25 MPa) and temperature conditions (323 and 343 K). It was observed that fingering displacement of brine limits the storage spaces for hydrogen, which consequently follows the high permeable path. As a result, only 0.272 fraction of brine was invaded by the H 2 at a temperature of 323 K and pressure of 15 MPa. A comparison between H 2 -brine and nitrogen (N 2)-brine flow dynamics revealed a 46% less storage capacity of porous media for H 2. Formations bearing high temperature (343 K) showed an 11.27% increase in H 2 storage capacity, while pressure increase had negligible effect. At low capillary number (Ca), more snap-off effects resulted in higher trapping of H 2 gas. This study aims to provide meaningful insights into the complexities of flow dynamics and displacement patterns that are crucial for optimizing hydrogen storage efficiency in saline aquifers and for potential 'white' hydrogen production. The transition to renewable energy systems is a comprehensive and challenging process requiring broad public support. Solar energy citizenship, a form of renewable energy prosumerism, is an expression of energy citizenship for implementing a sustainable energy transition. This study examined the effects of four behavioral beliefs (i.e., consumer innovativeness, impure altruism [warm glow], social-based public engagement, and solar product knowledge) on consumer intention and attitudes about solar energy citizenship. Furthermore, this study explored how perceived government incentives moderate the relationship between attitudes and intentions related to solar energy citizenship. Convenience sampling was employed for data acquisition. An anonymous questionnaire was distributed online to participants, and 370 valid responses were collected in Taiwan. The results indicated that the four aforementioned behavioral beliefs positively influenced the respondents’ attitudes toward solar energy citizenship. We discovered that their attitudes toward solar energy citizenship services were positively associated with their behavioral intention to use such services. Perceived government incentives moderated the relationship between the respondents’ attitudes and behavioral intention toward using solar energy citizenship services. While the disproportionate power of corporate and state fossil fuel interests to influence energy and climate policy is now well known, questions remain about the groups that enthusiastically consume such narratives, with far-reaching political consequences. Fossil fuel workers are one such group. Their positions within these debates are highly relevant to policy outcomes, yet their political positions are often assumed to oppose decarbonizing the economy to the detriment of otherwise well-intended interventions. We offer a more nuanced understanding of the sentiments of fossil fuel workers invoked through their public and political engagements. We use the Twitter profiles of 160 self-identified oil and gas workers to explore the nature of oil workers' masculinity and its implication in climate obstruction and far-right politics. Institutions have significant implications for whether and how energy systems restructure, evolve, and successfully transition. Yet, literature analyzing energy sector reforms often approach transitions from economic or technical perspectives, with much less attention to the underlying roles and influences of institutions. This paper explores the roles and influence of institutions on the speed, direction, timing, and sequence of energy transitions. A conceptual framework integrating the hierarchy of institutions with an historical institutionalist approach is developed and applied to explore transitions in Norway's electricity sector as a case study. Results show that conversion followed by layering emerge as the dominant modes of institutional change in Norway's electricity sector reform, illustrating the importance of alignment between institutions in creating the conditions for large‐scale energy transitions and the importance of boundaries to maintain alignment between levels of institutions. Governments can minimize potential gaps between transition intentions and outcomes through effective conversion and layering of institutional arrangements, but layering challenges emerge when institutional change introduces new actors or energy arenas to existing policy paradigms. What determines whether technological innovations are adopted or abandoned? We leverage comparative data from three competing alternative fuel technologies to explore the conditions under which social movement organizations and industries support or challenge the adoption of emerging technologies. Empirically, we examine the diffusion of three technologies – electric, ethanol, and compressed natural gas – in the United States between 1994 and 2015. The comparison of results from quantitative analyzes of each case shows that environmental organizations can have different effects on the adoption of technologies that challenge fossil fuel dominance and that the effects change over time. The results also indicate that an incumbent industry that has an opportunity for diversification can positively influence the adoption of the technology, and that partial abandonment results when a technology is not supported by either environmental organizations or an incumbent industry. The European Union, like many other nations and governments, is counting on hydrogen to play a big role in the energy transition. The EU has set ambitious import targets for hydrogen. This article will examine and comment on select parts of the EU framework that impact the EU’s plan for importing 10 million tonnes of hydrogen. This framework could have the effect of frustrating trade with third countries. Using the United States as an example of an importer, this article looks at (i) guarantees of origin, (ii) electricity market design, (iii) state aid, (iv) eligible carbon dioxide rules, and (v) the carbon border adjustment mechanism, with a view to ascertaining their effect on imports into the EU. The transport sector is under scrutiny because of its significant greenhouse gas emissions. Essential strategies, particularly the adoption of zero- and low-emission vehicles powered by electricity, are crucial for mitigating emissions in road transport. Pickups, which are integral to Mexico's fleet, contribute to such emissions. Thus, implementing effective policies targeting pickups is vital for reducing air pollution and aligning with Mexico's decarbonization objectives. This paper presents a simulation model based on system dynamics to represent the adoption process of zero- and low-emission vehicles, with a focus on pickups and utilizing data from the Mexican case. Three policy evaluation scenarios are proposed based on the simulation model: business as usual; disincentives for zero- and low-emission vehicles; and incentives for unconventional vehicles. One of the most significant findings from this study is that even in a scenario with a greater number of vehicles in circulation, if the technology is fully electric, the environmental impact in terms of emissions is lower. Additionally, a comprehensive sensitivity analysis spanning a wide spectrum is undertaken through an extensive computational process, yielding multiple policy scenarios. The analysis indicates that to achieve a maximal reduction in the country's emissions, promoting solely hybrid electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles is advisable, whereas internal combustion engines, vehicular natural gas, and battery electric vehicles should be discouraged. The challenges posed by climate change and global warming loom large, necessitating a critical initial step towards the long-term growth and the enhancement of both environmental and operational efficiency. Within the energy sector, renewable energy sources are gaining increasing prominence. Consequently, traditional oil and gas companies (OGC) are undergoing a gradual transformation into comprehensive energy corporations, aligning themselves with energy transition policies. This paper examines two types of efficiency measures—operational and environmental—for the 20 largest OGC during the period of 2010–2019. Secondly, this research aims to explore the effect of the global energy transition on both environmental and operational efficiency. Based on three estimation methods, two estimation steps are used in this research. In the first step, the True Fixed Effect (TFE) model and the Battese and coelli (1995) SFA model are applied to evaluate, measure and compare the environmental and operational efficiency scores. In the second step, the TFE model and GMM approach for the dynamic panel data model are used to explore, evaluate and verify the effect of global energy transition on the environmental and operational efficiency of the largest 20 OGC in the world. The results reveal that the average operational efficiency of major OGC measured using the BC.95 model and TFE model is 66% and 85%, respectively, and the overall average level of environmental efficiency for OGC over a 10-year period is 31% (based to B.C.95 model) and 13% (based to TFE model). Our findings reveal that biofuels, solar and hydropower contribute to promote the operational and environmental efficiency of the largest 20 OGC. However, the analysis suggests that while the global energy transition significantly influences and bolsters environmental efficiency, its effect on operational efficiency among these major OGC remains less pronounced and insufficient. Two new p‐type molecules, namely TAT‐TY3 and TAT‐TY4, featuring triazatruxene endcaps and carbazole π‐bridges, were synthesized. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of synthesized materials were comparatively investigated based on their 2,7‐ and 3,6‐carbazole conjugation pathways. Optical characterizations revealed the impact of non‐bonding electron delocalization of triazatruxene through carbazole moieties, resulting in a significant increase in absorption intensity corresponding to n‐π* energy transitions and a red shift of triazatruxene moieties. Consequently, the optical band gaps of TAT‐TY3 and TAT‐TY4 were measured at 3.0 and 3.2 eV, respectively. Moreover, the molecules′ first oxidation potentials exhibited a drastic difference due to the electrochemical behavior of 2,7‐ and 3,6‐carbazole moieties. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level for TAT‐TY3 was measured to be −5.02 eV, while for TAT‐TY4, it was measured as −4.67 eV. Hole‐extraction properties were explored using steady‐state and time‐resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy, revealing enhanced charge transfer between the TAT‐TY3/Perovskite interface due to the better alignment of HOMO energy levels. The photovoltaic performances of the hole‐transporting materials (HTMs) were successfully characterized in triple‐cation perovskite solar cells and efficiencies of up to 17.9 %, 16.2 %, and 9.8 % were achieved for Spiro‐OMeTAD, TAT‐TY3, and TAT‐TY4, respectively. Energy literacy is a developing field of research and practice that provides a comprehensive way of understanding how energy functions in the universe, on the earth, and in our social and personal lives. This literature review, building on an increasing momentum of research across various disciplines, outlines current energy literacy scholarship focused on a range of educational contexts (i.e., K-12, higher and post-secondary, teacher education and professional programs, and informal education). This review aims to show how energy literacy serves as a multifaceted way of developing knowledge and experiences about energy, which is an integral part of environmental and sustainability education, and that links to educational research and scholarship that supports energy transition in society more broadly. The building sector has implemented code requirements to promote the adoption of all-electric heating systems and electric vehicle (EV)-ready in new construction, aligning with electrification goals. However, existing studies on adoption and equity indicators lack a comprehensive spatiotemporal perspective, impeding the evaluation of trends over time and across communities. To fill these gaps, this study investigates spatiotemporal inequalities and the link between EV charger and heat pump adoption, integrating community characteristics in Seattle using proposed inequality indices and multilevel vector autoregressive models. Key findings include a recent decrease in Gini inequalities for EV charger adoption and a consistent reduction in Gini inequalities for heat pump adoption over time. EV charger adoption demonstrates a stronger association with spatial inequality across tracts. Higher adoption variations over time for both technologies are observed in similar communities. Additionally, communities with higher EV charger adoption exhibit higher heat pump adoption, with only heat pump adoption Granger causing EV charger adoption within a community. Economic factors predict adoption patterns, linking higher income and income inequality to increased EV charger adoption but lower heat pump adoption. The findings suggest tailored strategies in building codes for promoting equitable clean energy technology implementation, considering technology-specific characteristics and spatial dimensions. Recognizing the causal links between technology adoptions is crucial for collaborating with grid operators, particularly in establishing building standards that prevent grid congestion. Aligning codes with clean energy intricacies promotes sustainable construction and urban environment. Striving for electrification in the building sector, the study explores clean energy technology adoption in Seattle. Positive trends emerge, with recent reductions in inequalities for EV chargers and consistent decreases for heat pumps over time. This study looks at the case of industrial energy transition campaigning by a traditional conservation group in a regional city that hosts coal- fired power and emissions-intensive industry. We ask, what tensions do metropolitan campaigners find when communicating the idea of just transition and building alliances in regional places? How do they deal with those tensions? What does this mean for the task of developing ‘useable useful theories of environmental justice’ ? Our results illustrate the need to navigate three principal tensions: inclusivity, recognition, and equity. The case of the Australian Conservation Foundation in Gladstone reveals that as these tensions get worked through, the campaign goal is reframed as something other than ‘just transition’ and more akin to a local environmental justice campaigning. Confronting the coming five decades from our present conjuncture demands – to paraphrase Antonio Gramsci's famous mantra – both critical pessimism and a wilful politics of hope. In this article, we engage with the politics of climate breakdown and the responses to wider socio-ecological crises with a necessary critical pessimism. Specifically, we confront the capture of green transition imperatives by finance capital, as well as the troubling orientation of transition towards building new structures of accumulation around the vision of an electrified consumer society. We also see the coming decades being marked by the ever-increasing wealth of global asset-owning classes – who, by definition, enclose the atmospheric commons faster than any other community. Against this dystopian picture of increasingly concentrated wealth, corporate excess, and terrestrial crisis, we focus on the stubborn reproduction of socio-ecological life through various grounded projects across the world. We engage with communities who work against structural constraints to reproduce life from below through urban commoning, food sovereignty, Indigenous organising, and caretaking economies – all of which are scaling out their visions through alternative internationals. All of these projects, we argue, present a planetary and multiscalar political economy in practice, which connects grounded experience with resistance to the dynamics of capitalism at the state, corporate, and transnational levels. With lessons from these communities in mind, we call for a 'planetary political economy of the global majority', which prioritises the reproduction of socio-ecological life according to the visions of grounded anti-systemic projects. We establish a bus market evolution model to explore the implications of subsidy policies in Hong Kong (HK) for the transition to a zero-emission bus (ZEB) fleet using an unsubsidized case as the benchmark scenario. Using the system dynamics (SD) approach, we capture the intricate feedback mechanisms among market share dynamics, cost considerations, consumer preferences, and competitive interactions within the bus market. These interactions are encapsulated within three pivotal feedback loops: scale economy, public acceptance, and bus market competition. We systematically integrate the HK-specific features of hydrogen buses (H-buses), battery electric buses (E-buses), and diesel buses (D-buses) from technical and economic perspectives and compare them to the benchmark scenario. The results show that only 66% of the bus fleet would be ZEBs by 2050, and this underscores the necessity for governmental financial incentives to expedite the transition to a fully zero-emission fleet. Furthermore, we evaluate various ZEB subsidy policy alternatives in terms of timing, intensity, and recipients. The analysis suggests that policies offering long-term and low-intensity subsidies are most beneficial, taking into account the cumulative effects and inherent delays associated with policy implementation. Importantly, the study highlights the critical balance that policymakers must achieve between short- and long-term objectives, especially given the counter-intuitive outcomes observed in the early stages of policies favoring H-buses exclusively. This paper asks how legislative elites—lawmakers serving on statehouse committees with jurisdiction over transportation and energy—set transportation policy and funding agendas and what factors matter for compelling lawmaker policy action or explaining inaction. The role of legislatures in federalist systems has broader implications for the setting of transportation policy agendas, but in this study, we focus on U.S. state legislatures. We report on five focus group discussions conducted with 23 legislative representatives from 19 different states to reveal untapped insights into committee members' perceptions and the factors that drive their attention to certain issues in contemporary U.S. transportation policy. We find that these state-level political elites almost universally see funding as the most important issue and recognize the sector's broad fiscal reliance on motor fuel taxes as structurally unsound, given growing vehicle fuel efficiency and electric vehicle adoption. We find further that, with respect to their own policymaking activities, state lawmakers understand transportation policy and energy transition as distinct issues and appear unable to meet these known challenges by crossing committees to redesign policy. We also see implications of these results more broadly for subnational and provincial governments that, regardless of country setting, must often work across multiple layers of government to set policy agendas in the context of an evolving energy and transportation landscape and that warrant greater attention from policy scholars. This article explores how declining oil revenue might shape the amount of international conflict initiated by major oil producers (petrostates). We analyze four potential mechanisms through which variation in oil prices could affect petrostate conflict initiation: emboldenment, battling over a smaller market, signaling strength, and diversionary conflict. The empirical findings suggest that higher oil prices are associated with lower rates of petrostate conflict initiation. From one standard deviation below the mean oil price to one standard deviation above it, the predicted number of militarized interstate disputes declines twofold, from.025 [95% CI:.016–.034] per petrostate per year to.012 [.007–.016]. Moreover, the evidence suggests that petrostates are more likely to target other petrostates when oil prices are low. This suggests that the energy transition may not be a boon for international peace among petrostates, and for a time, it may even prove to be the opposite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although firms' expectations on future price dynamics are key for monetary policy, we still lack information on the expected effect of the transition to a net-zero economy on future prices. This paper fills this gap in the literature using survey data collected in the first quarter of 2022 on Italian firms' expectations of the impact of the Fit-for-55 - the package established by the EU to achieve its climate targets - on the prices of the goods and services they purchase. First, it documents that almost half of the sample expects that the Fit-for-55 plan will increase their input costs over the short and medium term, while the rest foresee no effect on prices. Then, it shows that firms extrapolate their private experience of high energy prices and shortages in raw materials when forming their expectations. These are salient events that are likely to be recalled relative to the others stored in memory when forming expectatons. In contrast, aggregate information such as energy, oil, and gas prices do not enter the expectations formation process. Finally, a propensity score analysis shows that the expected price impact of the green transition shapes firms' pricing and investment choices such that firms expecting the transition to raise the prices of the inputs they will purchase in the medium term increase (or intend to increase) their selling prices more than the others and are more likely to invest in improving their energy efficiency. The main objective of this paper was to highlight the nexus between migrant remittances and energy transition in a panel of 45 African countries from 2000 to 2020. The study utilized several estimation techniques ranging from fixed and random effects to two‐stage least square. The empirical findings suggest that remittances reduce energy transition in African countries. However, the growth of remittances reverses this relationship. There is therefore an U‐shaped relationship between remittances and energy transition in Africa. Furthermore, when disaggregating countries by income level, the results reveal that in low‐income countries, remittances reduce energy transition, but this effect is reversed in low‐ and middle‐income countries. Remittances are therefore a determinant in the choice of households for the process of energy transition. Thus, in order to take advantage of this relationship, African countries need to emphasize policies that can increase the flow of remittances by improving their financial system. Indonesiaʼs economy is highly dependent on the fossil fuel industry as evidenced in measures of non‐taxable revenue, energy subsidy, energy mix and regulatory flexibility. To cut carbon emissions by 41% in 2030, the energy system needs to transition faster than anticipated through progressive reforms and investment. Policy makers understandably are fearful of the shocks and unrests resulted from fossil fuel subsidy reform. However, the fears were shown to be an over‐reaction, especially if poorer households were supported. The state‐owned enterprise, Perusahaan Listrik Negara, is the central player in the tug of war between the fossil fuel and renewable sectors. The government should signal unwavering support for international investment in the renewables, and update the regulation on rooftop solar that boosts return on investment for domestic households. This article explores the trade-offs in the decarbonisation of the energy sector by analysing the legal arguments in favour of and against hydropower in EU law. It contends that the EU regimes in climate, energy and environmental law each value the advantages and disadvantages of energy production in different ways. In contrasting the approaches in these three areas of EU law, the article analyses how EU law governs the decarbonisation process in the context of hydropower. The analysis reveals a promising opportunity to reconcile the friction among climate, energy and environmental law while improving the ecological sustainability of hydropower production. To meet the projected increase in global demand for energy while tackling sustainability concerns, the widespread adoption of renewable energy is inevitable. Once harnessed, exports of this renewable energy from regions with excess resources are anticipated to those that will require imports of energy. The shipping sector will thus play a pivotal role in enabling such trade through energy carriers such as hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and liquid organic hydrogen carriers. Furthermore, in addition to these energy carriers, carbon dioxide is also expected to become an important maritime trade commodity to achieve climate targets. Through the deployment of carbon capture utilization and storage, and more recently, negative emission technologies, carbon dioxide will need to be transported to regions with the appropriate infrastructure and resources necessary for their anticipated implementation. Presently, in light of these circumstances, the lack of experience in shipping a number of these energy carriers and carbon dioxide must be addressed. As such, an understanding of the techno-economic and environmental feasibility of the large-scale shipping of these commodities must be established at all scales of operation. Hydrogen exploration in the municipality of Maricá (Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil) indicates that important hydrogen and helium gas fluxes are emitted through reactivated faults. The gas concentrations in the soils, and the modelled gas fluxes, are among the most intense measured so far in the world. This exploration has shown new surface expression of hydrogen micro-seeps, observed along reactivated large tectonic accidents instead of "fairy circles", most common proxy for hydrogen systems in cratonic formation. The geology of Maricá, consisting in Neoproterozoic metamorphic rocks without any already documented evidence of hydrogen-prone formations, appears as a very new field of investigation for natural hydrogen. Results indicate the presence of systematic hydrogen saturation of the usual detectors plugged at 80 cm depth, as well as a permanent recharge of hydrogen through time, without relaxation time. Moreover, positive helium anomalies are associated with this hydrogen soil gas, proving the existence of a gas flux coming from deep horizons of the subsurface. This reduces the risk of misinterpretation of surface hydrogen measurement, since the fear of drill bit metamorphism or superficial biological activity inducing hydrogen artefacts is always a possibility. These hydrogen and helium micro-seeps are associated with positive thorium concentration superficial anomalies, as it was already observed in other places associated with hydrogen exudations. We present a model of soil gas behavior, with a differential process of adsorption/desorption of each gas compound (N 2 , O 2 , Ne, H 2 and He), associated with a deep flux of hydrogen and helium. It is possible to assess a quantification of hydrogen flux of 0.32 m3 m−2.day−1. The surface flux ratio He/H 2 is much higher than any published value of generative flux. This may be explained by a subsurface accumulation, where hydrogen is severely altered whereas helium is preserved, increasing the relative proportion of helium versus hydrogen. Here, we review the emerging practices of integrating renewable energies in the construction sector, with a focus on energy types, policies, innovations, and perspectives. The energy sources include solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass fuels. Case studies in Seattle, USA, and Manama, Bahrain, are presented. Perspectives comprise self-sufficiency, microgrids, carbon neutrality, intelligent buildings, cost reduction, energy storage, policy support, and market recognition. Incorporating wind energy into buildings can fulfill about 15% of a building's energy requirements, while solar energy integration can elevate the renewable contribution to 83%. The escalating levels of CO2 emissions from the transportation sector have been observed to exert deleterious effects on human well‐being and environmental sustainability. To mitigate these emissions, it is imperative to consider the potential contributions of environmental policies and financial innovation. Thus, this study examines the effects of financial innovation and environmental policy (environmental tax–environmental technology) on transport‐related CO2 emission (TCO2E) for BICS (i.e., Brazil, India, China and South Africa), which are characterized by substantial industrialization, rising TCO2E and growing environmental concerns. The analysis is complemented by including control variables, notably economic growth and the transition to cleaner energy, to offer a nuanced and holistic perspective on the dynamics governing this critical subject matter. The research adopts a novel econometric approach cross‐sectionally augmented auto‐regressive distributed lags for benchmark estimation and fully modified ordinary least squares–dynamic ordinary least squares for robustness analysis from 2000/Q1‐2018/Q4. The findings revealed that financial innovation and economic growth bolster TCO2E and decrease environmental quality in the region. In contrast, environmental tax, environmental innovation and energy transition decrease TCO2E. While fossil fuels are a well‐researched element of nationalist discourse, the relationship between nationalism and renewable energy has not yet been adequately explored. We address this gap by investigating the impact of the energy transition on the Scottish National Party's (SNP) discourse between 1983 and 2021. Through an analysis of SNP manifestos and speeches, we discursively trace the evolution of three pertinent amalgams of nationalism—green nationalism, resource nationalism and techno‐nationalism—revealing renewable energy to have been co‐opted and deployed in all three. Rather than the energy transition intuitively resulting in the decline of fossil fuel‐based nationalisms in favour of those rooted in an emergent renewable energy paradigm, we find that adaptations in the SNP's discursive strategies allowed the former to co‐exist with the latter, enhancing complementarity and mitigating goal conflicts. This article examines the paradox of 'noxious deindustrialisation' – employment deindustrialisation in areas where significantly noxious industries are still operating – in the context of an extractivist economy in the Global South. Analysing the copper-centred industrial area of Quintero-Puchuncaví (Chile), we argue that a key element shaping patterns of local noxious deindustrialisation is the mode of insertion of the affected area in the international division of labour and noxiousness. The latter refers to the global socioecological hierarchy constituted by interconnected differentials in technological capabilities, wage levels, and environmental degradation. In countries marked by extractivism, the simple closure of polluting industries deepens the dependence of their economies on rent-bearing primary product exports, while the permanence of such industries often results in the perpetuation of 'sacrifice zones', where communities are exposed to severe noxiousness while receiving only meagre benefits in return. In our view, tackling the ecological crisis requires a more balanced international division of labour, as a step towards decommodifying production and nature. The G7 nations is a major global consumers of natural resources and energy. These nations are confronted with substantial obstacles in their pursuit of sustainable growth through energy transition, while upholding their status as global economic leaders. As a result, this current study conducted an aggregated and disintegrating analysis on the heterogeneous role of green energy innovation on energy transition in G7 nations. Green energy innovation was disintegrated into hydro, solar and wind energy. Moreover, the heterogeneous effects of green innovation in solar, hydro and wind on energy transition was investigated, an analysis that has not been previously examined. For the econometric estimation, we adopted the Quantile-on-Quantile Regression (QQR) and the quantile causality method. The results of the QQR indicates that the positive role of green energy innovation on energy transition in all of the G7 nations. However, this positive role is more dominant in five G7 nations, namely Italy, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA. Additionally, the result also highlights that the connection between green energy innovation and energy transition is differs across the various quantiles for different nations. Moreover, the quantile causality analysis indicates that green energy innovation has the potential to predict future values in energy transition within the G7 nations. During the past few years, hydrogen use has come to be considered as an alternative energy carrier in a future decarbonized world. Many developed nations are undergoing a shift towards low-carbon energy sources, driven by the excessive reliance on fossil fuels and the detrimental effects of climate change. This study aims to investigate the potential for hydrogen deployment in the Greek energy market during the next few decades. In this context, green hydrogen's potential application in the Greek market is being assessed, employing an integrated techno-economic model grounded in worldwide trends and localized expenses. The forthcoming years will see an analysis of both the challenges and opportunities surrounding the integration and implementation of hydrogen in new and existing processes within Greece. Many alternative ways to produce hydrogen in Greece are investigated, contemplating different production paths. We evaluate how fluctuations in hydrogen, oil, and carbon prices affect the economics of green hydrogen adoption in oil refining, as is detailed in the draft of the European Union delegated act published in May 2022. The Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) for different scenarios is calculated for the time frame up until 2050. A sensitivity analysis reveals that investment costs, electricity prices, electrolyzer efficiency, and carbon taxes significantly influence the LCOH, ultimately impacting the economic competitiveness of hydrogen production. These findings underscore the importance of aligning public–private partnership agendas in hydrogen production to create optimal conditions for investment attraction and development. This review includes the concept of green energy, important incentives that can accelerate investment processes, and factors affecting the transition from fossil fuel-based energy to renewable resources. Transition factors to green energy affect many behaviors towards energy, as well as the acceptance of different energy policies and energy system changes. Green energy and sustainability of energy requires a comprehensive transformation of economic structures, technologies and institutions. The role of social sciences in engaging consumers in sustainable energy behaviors, supporting the adoption of new technologies, and encouraging policy changes in energy systems should not be overlooked. The promotion of renewable energy relates to three main positive aspects of green energy. These are consequences on the environment, consequences on the level of development of the country and social pressure. Developing efficient energy conversion systems that do not have low environmental impact and recommended policies for the expansion of renewable energies are some of the recent progress in limiting greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering CO2. In this article, the theoretical and practical foundations of green energy incentives in Türkiye are analyzed together with the factors affecting them. Additionally, reviews of the diversity of energy incentives and their effectiveness and efficiency are presented. Attention is drawn to the benefits of developing the policies of countries that have been successful in green energy policies and mastered renewable energy technologies in accordance with Türkiye's conditions. The pursuit of improved quality of life standards has significantly influenced the contemporary mining model in the 21st century. This era is witnessing an unprecedented transformation driven by pressing concerns related to sustainability, climate change, the just energy transition, dynamic operating environments, and complex social challenges. Such transitions present both opportunities and obstacles. The aim of this study is to provide an extensive literature review on energy transition to identify the challenges and strategies associated with navigating transformations in energy systems. Understanding these transformations is particularly critical in the face of the severe consequences of global warming, where an accelerated energy transition is viewed as a universal remedy. Adopting a socio-technological systems perspective, specifically through the application of Actor Network Theory (ANT), this research provides a theoretical foundation while categorising challenges into five distinct domains and outlining strategies across these different dimensions. These insights are specifically tailored for emerging market countries to effectively navigate energy transition while fostering the development of resilient societies. Furthermore, our findings highlight that energy transition encompasses more than a mere technological shift; it entails fundamental changes in various systemic socio-economic imperatives. Through focusing on the role of social structures in transitions, this study makes a significant and innovative contribution to ANT, which has historically been criticised for its limited acknowledgement of social structures. Consequently, we propose an emerging market energy transition framework, which not only addresses technological aspects, but also integrates social considerations. This framework paves the way for future research and exploration of energy transition dynamics. The outcomes of this study offer valuable insights to policymakers, researchers, and practitioners engaged in the mining industry, enabling them to comprehend the multifaceted challenges involved and providing practical strategies for effective resolution. This article discusses the roles that various forms of entrepreneurial action (economic, social, political) play in the emergence of new socioeconomic fields during the process of energy transition. The article is based on the results of qualitative research conducted among actors involved in establishing microgrids in Poland. We analyze three cases that differ in terms of the dominant form of entrepreneurial action, the capital at play, and the state of the field. We assert that the development of local energy initiatives requires the interplay of all three forms of entrepreneurial action. This paper comprehensively assesses oil palm biomass and coal blends, focusing on evaluating thermodynamic and kinetics parameters. The experimental approach employs thermogravimetric differential thermal analysis (TG–DTA) with varying heating rates of 5, 10, 15, and 20 K min−1. Laboratory tests are conducted on six blended samples of different coal and oil palm biomass ratios. The evaluation encompasses key combustion parameters, including ignition index (Di), burnout index (Db), combustion performance index (S), reactivity (R), flammability index (C), and index of intensity (Hf). Additionally, thermodynamic parameters such as a change in enthalpy (ΔH), change in Gibbs free energy (ΔG), and change in entropy (ΔS) are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the optimal co-combustion material is a blend of 76% low-rank coal, 19% medium-rank coal, and 5% oil palm fronds, identified as L80M20F. This blend exhibits superior combustion performance, as evidenced by the highest values for Di (31.17 × 10–8% min−3), Db (28.91 × 10–11% min−3 K−1), and R (39.18 × 104 mg min−1). Furthermore, it displays the lowest ΔH of 73.11 kJ mol−1 and ΔS of − 0.0452844 J mol−1 K−1, along with the highest ΔG of 179.77 kJ mol−1. The accuracy of these findings is confirmed through verification with the Gram–Charlier peak function, which yields a negligible margin of error. In conclusion, this study provides crucial insights for decision-makers by assessing combustion and thermodynamic parameters of oil palm biomass and coal blends. The L80M20F, identified as the optimum blended fuel, showcases its potential to enhance combustion efficiency and contribute to the energy transition toward net-zero emissions. The deployment of renewable energy generation technologies, driven primarily by concerns over catastrophic climate change, is expected to increase rapidly in the United States. Rapid increases in the deployment of wind and solar energy will translate to increases in critical material requirements, causing concern that demand could outstrip supply, leading to mineral price volatility and potentially slowing the energy transition. This study presents a detailed demand‐side model for wind and solar in the United States using dynamic material flow analysis to calculate the requirements for 15 elements: Cr, Zn, Ga, Se, Mo, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Te, Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, and Pb. Results show that transitioning to a completely decarbonized US energy system by 2050 could require a five‐to‐sevenfold increase in critical material flow‐into‐use compared with business as usual (BAU), with some materials requiring much larger increases. Rare earth elements (REEs) could require 60–300 times greater material flows into the US power sector in 2050 than in 2021, representing 13%–49% of the total global REE supply. Te requirements for reaching net zero by 2050 could exceed current supply, posing challenges for widespread deployment of cadmium‐telluride solar. We also investigate several strategies for reducing material requirements, including closed‐loop recycling, material intensity reduction, and changing market share of subtechnologies (e.g., using crystalline silicon solar panels instead of cadmium telluride). Although these strategies can significantly reduce critical material requirements by up to 40% on average, aggressive decarbonization will still require a substantial amount of critical material. This poses a challenge for municipalities who need to adapt land use planning frameworks to more renewable energy. In October 2022, the EU and Morocco signed an unprecedented Green Partnership on Energy, Climate, and the Environment. The new deal aims to advance the external dimension of the European Green Deal and is expected to become a model for similar partnerships with other countries. In this study, we aim to explore the Moroccan perceptions of the Partnership. We utilize a thematic and content analysis of 31 official documents, including media, along with semi-structured interviews with 22 key Moroccan stakeholders, not only representing the official authorities, but also businesses and academia. Results reveal that while the official political narrative emphasises the Partnership’s benefits, divergent opinions emerged from our analysis, raising various concerns, especially regarding perceived benefits for Morocco and its sustainable development. Hydrogen-fuelled technologies for home heating and cooking may provide a low-carbon solution for decarbonising parts of the global housing stock. For the transition to transpire, the attitudes and perceptions of consumers must be factored into policy making efforts. However, empirical studies are yet to explore potential levels of consumer heterogeneity regarding domestic hydrogen acceptance. In response, this study explores a wide spectrum of consumer responses towards the prospect of hydrogen homes. The proposed spectrum is conceptualised in terms of the 'domestic hydrogen acceptance matrix', which is examined through a nationally representative online survey conducted in the United Kingdom. The results draw attention to the importance of interest and engagement in environmental issues, knowledge and awareness of renewable energy technologies, and early adoption potential, as key drivers of domestic hydrogen acceptance. Critically, strategic measures should be taken to convert hydrogen scepticism and pessimism into hope and optimism by recognising the multi-dimensional nature of consumer acceptance. To this end, resources should be dedicated towards increasing the observability and trialability of hydrogen homes in proximity to industrial clusters and hubs, where the stakes for consumer acceptance are highest. Subsurface porous rocks hold significant hydrogen (H 2) storage potential to support an H 2 -based energy future. Understanding H 2 flow and trapping in subsurface rocks is crucial to reliably evaluate their storage efficiency. In this work, we perform cyclic H 2 flow visualization experiments on a layered rock sample with varying pore and throat sizes. During drainage, H 2 follows a path consisting of large pores and throats, through a low permeability rock layer, substantially reducing H 2 storage capacity. Moreover, due to the rock heterogeneity and depending on the experimental flow strategy, imbibition unexpectedly results in higher H 2 saturation compared to drainage. These results emphasize that small-scale rock heterogeneity, which is often unaccounted for in reservoir-scale models, plays a vital role in H 2 displacement and trapping in subsurface porous media, with implications for efficient storage strategies. Cities play a pivotal role in achieving worldwide carbon neutrality due to their significant contribution to global energy consumption and carbon emissions. Therefore, planning effective strategies and guiding evidence-based policymaking at the city scale becomes even more crucial. Composite indices serve as a valuable tool for monitoring urban energy transition trends. This paper aims to present a novel approach, robust and flexible even under conditions of data scarcity, for tracking the energy transition trend of a city by means of a composite index (UETI). The Turin case study is introduced to test the applicability of the proposed approach. Additionally, to demonstrate the robustness of the composite index framework, the paper includes the findings of correlation and sensitivity analyses. This study reveals a significant improvement in Turin's environmental and energy domains, while the socio-economic domain shows more modest improvement. The article deals with the issue of modern challenges in the development of the fuel and energy complex, including the oil and gas industry as its basis in terms of the volume of tax revenues to the budget. Industry technological priorities have been identified: the creation of domestic equipment and technologies for the traditional upstream fuel and energy complex, digital transformation and the development of Industry 4.0 technologies, the development of technological competencies in key areas of energy transition, and the development of technologies in terms of ecology and industrial safety. The world experience of supporting the development of scientific research in industry is analyzed on the example of the USA, Norway and China. An analysis of the challenges of the institutional development of the fuel and energy complex at all stages from research to serial production is presented. The covenants of the state in the field of developing human resources for the implementation of the energy transition of the domestic fuel and energy complex, independent of external circumstances, have been determined. Proceeding from the analysis of internal barriers and successful international practices, proposals were made for the development of state technology policy. The National Program of the Russian Federation formulates directions for the development of the industry in the medium term. The technological development of the Russian Federation in the medium term will be influenced, on the one hand, by a number of external and internal threats of technological backwardness and degradation of the Russian economy, and on the other, by emerging new opportunities. Russia has a serious scientific and technical foundation in the field of hydrogen energy, scientific and technical personnel, operating facilities in the hydrogen industry, intellectual property, standard base, design and operational documentation, experience in creating the world's largest hydrogen filling station for launch vehicles and spacecraft ("Energy- Buran") guarantee the successful completion of assigned tasks in the medium term. Huge reserves of biomass, hydro resources, wind resources, geothermal resources, wave energy of the seas and oceans, solar energy provide enormous opportunities for the export of hydrogen to all interested countries, as well as the widespread use of hydrogen in the national economy, primarily for converting aviation to environmentally friendly fuel and preserving the environment megacities and large urban agglomerations. This study examines the impact of the energy transition on the energy security of six ASEAN countries. The quantitative PLS-SEM method is applied in this study to investigate the relationships among energy democracy, energy citizenship, energy transition, and energy security. The energy transition model investigates the secondary panel data from 2000 to 2020 for six major oil consumption countries to find crucial factors. These six ASEAN countries primarily consume 80% of their energy from fossil fuels, contributing to 4.45% of global CO2 emissions. This study empirically found that energy citizenship significantly impacts the energy transition by 38.3% and energy security by 22.6% through the energy transition. Energy democracy negatively impacts the energy transition at 56.3% and energy security at 64.7%. The energy transition impacts 59.1% of energy security. Encouraging energy citizenship to consume renewable energy reduces CO2 emissions from 1,468 MtCO2 to 906 MtCO2. Promoting energy democracy reduces CO2 emissions from 1,468 MtCO2 to 518 MtCO2. The energy transition of six ASEAN countries is encouraged through energy citizenship and democracy to strengthen energy security by enhancing renewable energy and decreasing the dominance of fossil fuels. Firms often oppose costly public policy reforms—but under what conditions may they come to support such reforms? Previous scholarship has taken a predominantly static approach to the analysis of business positions. Here, we advance a dynamic theory of change in business policy positions that explains how business may shift from opposing to supporting new regulation over the course of multiple rounds of policymaking. We identify three sets of drivers and causal mechanisms behind business repositioning related to political, policy, and market change. We argue that political mechanisms can shift opposition to "strategic support" for reform, whereas policy and market mechanisms may shift opposition or strategic support toward "sincere support." We examine the reconfiguration of business interests and policy positions in the context of three decades of US climate politics, focusing on the oil and gas, electricity, and auto sectors. Our dynamic theory of business positions moves beyond the dualism that views business as either opposing or supporting public interest regulation. Malaysia's commitment to ecological quality is evident in its agendas for achieving a sustainable environment by 2030. However, hindrances like challenges towards energy transition efforts, stable political institutions, unclean economic globalization practices, and transiting to a complex economy could potentially delay the nation's attainment of its environmental goals. Against this backdrop, the current study focuses on examining the roles of political risk, economic globalization, energy transition, and economic complexity on ecological sustainability in Malaysia. In contrast to previous studies, this study innovatively incorporates a dummy variable to account for potential structural breaks that may occur during the study period. Furthermore, this study used an innovative environmental proxy which incorporates both the demand and supply aspect of the environment during computation. Using the time series data from 1984 to 2018 and employed the ARDL estimator method, the empirical results indicate that economic globalization is associated with ecological deterioration in Malaysia in the long run. On the other hand, economic complexity, political stability, and energy transition are shown to promote ecological sustainability in Malaysia in the long run. Moreover, the bootstrap time varying causality method demonstrates that each of the regressors has the capacity to predict the load capacity factor during distinct sub-periods. Encouraging energy transition (ET) has become a global imperative for nations and companies, and not just large ones. Not all economic organizations pursue this process with the same intensity. Particularly, the factors driving Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) towards ET are not yet clearly defined, despite SMEs representing most companies and bearing a significant responsibility for pollution. To shed light on this matter, this study presents a framework of the main drivers that stimulate SMEs placed in Italy to pursue energy transition. We conducted a Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis on data collected from innovation-oriented SMEs enlisted in a specific register of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. The research findings show a weak interest among SMEs towards ET. While country-specific conditions and social and psychological traits affect the decision to invest in ET, firm-specific factors and 'stakeholder' pressures seem to be almost irrelevant. Policy measures with a different focus are necessary. Specifically, the provision of facilitation emerges as the most effective tool for encouraging ET among SMEs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Positive Energy Districts can be defined as connected urban areas, or energy-efficient and flexible buildings, which emit zero greenhouse gases and manage surpluses of renewable energy production. Energy storage is crucial for providing flexibility and supporting renewable energy integration into the energy system. It can balance centralized and distributed energy generation, while contributing to energy security. Energy storage can respond to supplement demand, provide flexible generation, and complement grid development. Photovoltaics and wind turbines together with solar thermal systems and biomass are widely used to generate electricity and heating, respectively, coupled with energy system storage facilities for electricity (i.e., batteries) or heat storage using latent or sensible heat. Energy storage technologies are crucial in modern grids and able to avoid peak charges by ensuring the reliability and efficiency of energy supply, while supporting a growing transition to nondepletable power sources. This work aims to broaden the scientific and practical understanding of energy storage in urban areas in order to explore the flexibility potential in adopting feasible solutions at district scale where exploiting the space and resource-saving systems. The main objective is to present and critically discuss the available options for energy storage that can be used in urban areas to collect and distribute stored energy. The concerns regarding the installation and use of Energy Storage Systems are analyzed by referring to regulations, and technical and environmental requirements, as part of broader distribution systems, or as separate parts. Electricity, heat energy, and hydrogen are the most favorable types of storage.
