To present coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) related maternal mortality in relation to Delta and Omicron waves and to investigate the role of lung ultrasound (LUS) in estimating mortality.This retrospective cohort study was conducted in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic of a tertiary pandemic hospital between March 2020 and January 2022. The hospitalized pregnant women with COVID-19 diagnosis and maternal deaths were studied in relation with Delta and Omicron waves. The relationship between LUS scores of hospitalized patients and maternal mortality was explored.Thousand and sixty-five pregnant women were hospitalized because of COVID-19 infection. Fifty-one (4.79%) of these patients had critical sickness, 96 (9.01%) of them had severe illness, 62 (5.82%) of them were admitted to the intensive care unit and 28 (2.63%) of all hospitalized pregnant women had died. Of the 1.065 patients, 783 (73.5%) were hospitalized before the Delta wave and the maternal mortality rate was 1.28% (10/783), 243 (22.8%) were hospitalized during the Delta wave and the maternal mortality rate was 7% (17/243) [relative risk (RR)=5.478, 95% confidence interval (CI) (2.54-11.8), z=4.342, p0.001]. During the Omicron wave 39 (3.66%) patients were hospitalized and the maternal mortality rate was 2.56% (1/39). Maternal mortality rates, according to LUS scores, were 0.37% (1/273) for LUS 0, 0.72% (2/277) for LUS 1, 2.58% (10/387) for LUS 2 and 11.72% (15/128) for LUS 3 respectively (LUS 3 vs. others; maternal mortality: RR=8.447, 95% CI (4.11-17.34), z=5.814, p0.0001). There were no vaccinated patients in the study cohort.The maternal mortality rate was relatively high, particularly during the Delta wave at our referral center. The Delta wave, delayed vaccination and vaccine hesitancy of pregnant women might have important roles in maternal mortality. Higher LUS scores should warn clinicians of an increased risk of maternal death.

We provide an overview of the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) work on evolving the 5G wireless technology to support non-terrestrial satellite networks. Adapting 5G to support non-terrestrial networks entails a holistic design spanning across multiple areas from radio access network to services and system aspects to core and terminals. Bu çalışmada kademeli kapasitelere sahip tesisler için tesis yeri ve kapasite seviyesi seçimi problemi ele alınmıştır. Doğru kapasitede doğru lokasyonda tesis seçimi ile tesislerin sabit işletme giderleri ile bu tesislerde üretilen mal ve hizmetlerin dağıtım merkezlerine taşıma maliyetlerinden oluşan toplam maliyetin en aza indirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu problemin çözümü için tam sayılı doğrusal programlama modeli önerilmiştir. Bu çalışmada fark yaratan durum, bir tek aşamalı tedarik zincirinde potansiyel lokasyonlardaki tesisler arasından seçim kararının yanı sıra, kademeli kapasitelerin tesisler arasında transferi ve ya sisteme dahil olacak yeni kapasitelerin dağıtımı problemini ele almak için yeni bir tam sayılı doğrusal programlama modeli önerilmesidir. Böylece atıl kapasiteler daha iyi değerlendirilebilecek ve taşıma maliyetleri düşürülebilecektir. Gerek iş hayatında gerekse insanların bireysel yaşamında derin izler bırakan COVID-19 sürecinin tedarik zincirleri üzerindeki etkisi tüm ezberleri bozmuştur. Pandemi döneminde Pazar ihtiyaçlarının neredeyse tamamen değişmesi ile birlikte, çoğu tedarik zinciri ağı mevcut yapısıyla ihtiyacı karşılamakta zorluk çekmektedir. İşte tam bu noktada tedarik zincirini yeniden tasarlamak isteyen bir dezenfektan üreticisi ile ilgili vaka ele alınmış ve tanıtılan model bu vakaya uygulanmıştır. İncelenen vakanın ve uyarlanan modelin, benzer durumdaki vakaların çözümüne katkı sağlaması hedeflenmiştir.

Surfaces of previously synthesized Hydroxyapatite particles (HAP) have been modified with polyethylene glycol functional silane (PEG-400Si). For the surface modification of HAP, firstly, synthesis of PEG-400Si was performed by urethane reaction of hydroxyl and isocyanate groups. Then, HAP was synthesized by sol-gel method. Afterwards, surface modification of HAP was realized with PEG-400Si. SEM, TEM, XRD and FTIR analyses were utilized to characterize the morphology and structural properties of the synthesized and modified particles. Results revealed that the surface of HAP was modified successfully and the crystal structure of HAP was not changed after modification. Electrospinning process was conducted to obtain unmodified and modified HAP incorporated nanofibrous biomembranes and the characteristics and biological performances of these membranes have been compared to each other. SEM analysis presented that defect-free and round shape nanofibers obtained and the fiber diameter ranged from 230±114 nm to 760±291 nm. In vitro biological evaluations revealed that all electrospun nanofibrous biomembranes were nontoxic and the one with PCL/PEG-400Si-HAP exhibited greatest cellular protein expression approximately 1.5 times higher than the PCL biomembrane for 24 h, 48 h and 72 h.

In this study, gold nanoparticles decorated copper oxide- zirconium oxide mixture has been deposited on glassy carbon electrode surface by simple electrochemical technique. The obtained composite surface has been investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy in detail. The results of SEM images, XPS and XRD data indicated the surface of ZrO2-CuO composite was successfully decorated with Au nanoparticles. The resulting ZrO2-CuO/Au nanocomposite contained about 1.48 % Au nanoparticles with 70 nm average diameter. Then, the catalytic performance of ZrO2-CuO/Au nanocomposites was investigated by using formaldehyde oxidation. The comparative studies have been revealed that the ZrO2-CuO/Au nanocomposites exhibited a better current density towards formaldehyde oxidation than that of bare, ZrO2-CuO, and Au modified electrodes in alkaline media. According to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study dealing with the usage of ZrO2-CuO/Au nanocomposites in formaldehyde oxidation. As the electrochemically fabricated, stable ZrO2-CuO/Au surface improved catalytic activity towards formaldehyde oxidation, this material is a promising candidate for application in fuel cells and removal of formaldehyde from aqueous solutions.

This study focuses on the historical and cultural aspects that are decisive in the sculptors choice of materials in the context of art of sculpture. The visual and tactile qualities of the materials guide the selection of the subject, individual and period styles as well as the aesthetic perception. Physical properties have enabled the development of tools and technologies by artists who transform materials into depictions and representations. While the values ​​of the materials make them political actors as they embody power and grandeur, their lack of value has turned them into symbols of sobriety in theological debates. Therefore, it can be said that materials have a decisive role in the meaning of the work in the art of sculpture. In this context, it is clearly seen that when a material is selected / used, it is actually a form of communication and therefore corresponds to a series of transferences related to language, based on the idea that conscious or unconscious processes work behind the orientation of sculptors to a particular material. According to this; sculptors not only do something by carving stone and wood or forging iron, but also say something by choosing a certain type of material.

Bu çalışmada heykeltıraş Kuzgun Acar’ın 1957 ve 1962 yıllarında sergilediği kafes teli heykelleri ile bazı Konstrüktivist heykeller arasında görülen paralellikler üzerinde durulmaktadır. Sanatçının eserleri, özellikle 1920’lerden itibaren Rus Konstrüktivist sanatçılarının yapıları ve Konstrüktivizm akımının temel kuramları üzerinden gidilerek değerlendirilirmiştir. Kuzgun Acar’ın heykellerinde kullanmak üzere seçtiği malzemeler ve biçimlendirme prosedürleri değerlendirmede yol gösterici olmuştur. Makalenin ilk bölümünde Kuzgun Acar’ın Konstrüktivizm ile ilişkisinde dönemsel farklılıklara değinilmiş, kafes teli meselesine odaklanılan ikinci, üçüncü ve dördüncü bölümlerinde ise heykeller, uzamsal form, faktura ve soğuk strüktür gibi Konstrüktivist kavramlar ışığında ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda Acar’ın kafes teli heykelleri ile onlara sıklıkla benzetilen Gabo ve Pevsner gibi batıya göç eden sanatçıların yapıtlarının aksine özellikle Rus Konstrüktivist sanatçıların yapıtları arasında gözlemlenen formel ve kavramsal benzerlikler dikkat çekicidir. Diğer yandan Kuzgun Acar’ın heykel serüveni içerisinde Rus Konstrüktivizminin farklı yönelimlerinin de izlerini sürmek mümkündür. Bu yönelimler Kuzgun Acar’ı döneminin Türk heykeltıraşlarından ayrı değerlendirmek gerektiğini açıkça göstermektedir. Araştırmada, yukarıda söz edilen kavramlar ile Kuzgun Acar’ın kafes teli heykelleri arasında kurulan analojiler doğrultusunda bu heykellerin birer uzamsal konstrüksiyon olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bununla beraber Ferit Edgü, Murat Ural, Maria Gough, Yves-Alain Bois, Benjamin H. D. Buchloh ve Nikolai Tarabukin gibi eleştirmen ve yazarların kitap ve makaleleri çalışmamızın kavramsal arka planını oluşturmaya yardımcı olmuştur.

Objective Due to the many negative properties of sodium hypochlorite used in current root canal treatment, interest in biocompatible natural agents is increasing day by day. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether various extract solutions of Sapindus mukorossi have dissolution effects on human pulp tissues. Methods Primarily powder extracts were obtained by extracting fruit shells of S. mukorossi in different solvents (ethanol, methanol, buthanol and distilled water). The test solutions were prepared and randomly separated into six groups with 10 samples in each group: ethanol extract, methanol extract, butanol extract, distilled water extract of S. mukorossi, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and the control group. Among these, S. mukorossi extracts were separated into two subgroups, depending on their concentration level (50 µg/mL and 100 µg/mL). The pulp tissues of freshly extracted human molars were used for dissolution test. The weights of the pulpal tissues were measured and recorded for two times after the samples were placed in the solutions. Statistical analysis for all descriptive statistics was performed using SPSS 22 (P Results Our results showed that maximum percent yield of preparation was obtained in methanol extract of S. mukorossi. Among all of the groups, the best dissolution capacity was seen in the NaOCl group (positive control group). Among S. mukorossi groups, the best tissue solvent solution was found in SMM group at 50 µg/mL and SMB group at 100 µg/mL. Conclusion The different extracts of S. mukorossi had a capacity to dissolve pulp tissue but this capacity was less than NaOCl. Therefore, further studies will enable the creation of a commercial solution for clinical use by increasing the effectiveness of S. mukorossi while combining it with other endodontic irrigation solutions.

The use of transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) as the first choice of surgical route for patients scheduled to undergo conventional laparoscopy is still being debated. We aimed to evaluate and compare the outcomes of the "vNOTES first" strategy in benign gynecological cases.All benign gynecological surgeries were initiated using vNOTES during the study period, regardless of the difficulty. Surgical outcomes, short-term patient satisfaction and sexual pain were compared between hysterectomies, adnexal and diagnostic procedures. Visual Analog Score (VAS), Patients Global Impressions of Improvements scale (PGI-I) and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) were used to assess the postoperative pain, satisfaction and sexual pain, respectively.A total of 105 vNOTES procedures were performed during the study period: 63 (60.58%) adnexal procedures, 36 (34.62%) hysterectomies, 5 (4.81%) diagnostic procedures and one (0.96%) myomectomy. The median 24th hour VAS scores for adnexal, hysterectomy, and diagnostic procedures were 1.29 ± 1.41, 2.06 ± 2.08, and 2.6 ± 2.41, respectively. The satisfaction rate was 96.19% at the 1st postoperative week and 97.14% at the first month. There was either no change or a slight improvement in the patients' total score on the FSFI/pain domain before and after surgery. There were two conversions (1.9%) from vNOTES to laparoscopy and laparotomy, and two (5.56%) bladder injuries in hysterectomy cases.Implementing the vNOTES technique as an initial approach for all benign gynecological surgeries seems feasible, safe and satisfactory, even in those with a non-prolapsed or enlarged uterus and those that have previously undergone abdominal surgery. The pain scores were found to be low and patients stated a high satisfaction with no or better change in their sexual life.

In this study, multifunctional stratified antibacterial and bioactive coatings were deposited and characterised. Initially, PEEK/bioactive glass (BG)/ mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticle (MBGN) layers with a thickness of 110–120 μm were deposited on stainless steel substrates using electrophoretic deposition (EPD). Thin silver nanocluster-silica composite layers with a thickness of 70–155 nm were then deposited by radio frequency (RF) co-sputtering on the previously deposited EPD coatings. The deposition was carried for two different sputtering times (20 min and 40 min), which led to different layer thicknesses. PEEK/BG/MBGNs coatings were also deposited via single-step EPD. A comparison between the physicomechanical and biological characteristics of single layer PEEK/BG/MBGNs composite coating and bilayer Ag-PEEK/BG/MBGNs is presented. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX) indicated that silver nanoclusters were homogeneously distributed in the multilayered EPD/RF coatings. An apatite-like structure was formed on the surface of the coatings upon immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) after 1 day. Silver nanoclusters embedded in the silica matrix as a top layer provided controlled release of silver ions which led to a potent antibacterial effect against E. coli and S. carnosus. Single layer coatings exhibited a burst release of Ag ions, which led to antibacterial effects but were toxic to osteoblast cells. Finally, the results of WST-8 assays confirmed that the multi-structured coatings allow osteoblast-like cells to proliferate and attach strongly on the surface of the coatings.

Nowadays, there is a great influence of the innovated semiconductor heterojunction on the improvement of photocatalysis in organic pollutants elimination and the Raman signals multiplexing towards quantitative determination. Here, it was an attempt to develop a heterostructure membrane-based platform employing a filtration system to degrade and detect various target molecules at trace level in liquid samples. Herein, the ZnO nanorods/Bi2WO6 nanocomposites (ZBW) were prepared by a moderate temperature hydrothermal method; thereafter ZBW was encrusted with in-situ photoreduced silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to form AgNPs@ZBW (Ag@ZnO@Bi2WO6) platform. The superhydrophobic AgNPs@ZBW platform encompasses both photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under UV-irradiation and label-free surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) evaluated for rhodamine 6G (R6G) and RhB. The AgNPs@ZBW exhibited superior photocatalytic and SERS activities for organic dyes degradation. As a result, the photocatalytic efficiency for dyes was 97.95% in 140 min. From the recycling experiment, it was manifested that AgNPs@ZBW maintained superb photocatalytic activity and stability after five cycles of use for SERS analysis. As-prepared platform displayed a scalable SERS response from 100 mu M to 1 nM and enhancement factor of 3.2 x 10(5) and 1.2 x 10(5) for R6G and RhB, respectively, using an excitation wavelength of 532 nm, laser power of 3.2 mW and time of exposure of 10 s. Displayed trending of superhydrophobic membrane-based SERS substrates is assumed to lead abounds of change in the field of photocatalytic materials, SERS assay, and organic chemical analysis. Sign language is a way of communication used by individuals with deaf and mute disabled person to communicate with other people. Sign languages differ from the languages spoken in countries. For this reason, the development of a system that recognizes the Turkish sign language will greatly facilitate the lives of individuals with hearing and speech impaired person in our country. The study consists of two stages. In the first stage, a smart glove is designed that recognizes sign language. With this glove, it is provided to communicate with a person who does not know the sign language in front of an individual with hearing and speech impaired. In the second stage, an Android operating system based mobile application was realized. With this application, a person who does not have any disability and does not speak sign language is provided to communicate with a hearing and speech impaired individual. With the smart gloves developed in the study, a total of 6 words can be recognized. In the Android mobile application developed in this context, 11 words can be translated into sign language.

A major step was taken in 3GPP Release 13 to support the Internet of Things (IoT) and machinetype communications (MTC) for LTE by the introduction of the LTE-M device Category M1. In Release 14, LTE-M has been further enhanced by features in important areas. In this article these features are described and explained. The range of possible use cases that can be addressed by LTE-M devices is greatly improved through the introduction of data rate improvements for device Category M1 and the new device Category M2, which increases the maximum supported data rates, the support for location services with significantly improved accuracy, and support for multicast to enable, for example, simultaneous firmware downloads to a multitude of devices. Release 14 also improves the ability of LTE-M to support voice services by means of a set of specific optimizations. Furthermore, the higher bit rates are beneficial for the LTE-M fulfillment of 5G requirements.

In the 3GPP LTE Release 13, NB-IoT and LTE for Machine-Type Communication (LTE-M) were standardized to provide wide-area connectivity for IoT. The technologies in 3GPP Release 14 evolved beyond the basic functionality specified in Release 13. In 3GPP Release 15 the evolution continues. To optimize the support for infrequent small data packet transmissions, a mechanism for data transmission during the random access procedure is specified for NB-IoT and LTE-M. This mechanism, hereafter referred to as Early Data Transmission (EDT), improves the device battery life and reduces the message latency. This article provides a description of the EDT feature and presents simulated results for the expected battery life and message latency for a set of typical IoT traffic models. For a device in extreme coverage, EDT can enable improved battery life by almost 3 years and reduce message latency by more than 3 seconds compared to the Release 13 performance. Although the absolute gains are highest for devices in challenging radio conditions, significant relative gains are also presented for devices in good coverage.

Single layer and multilayer films consisting of SnO 2 , Ta 2 O 5 , SiO 2 , TiO 2 , indium tin oxide (ITO) and antimony tin oxide (ATO) have been prepared by sol-gel dip coating technique. All of the multilayer films contained a SiO 2 top layer, which was composed of SiO 2 nanoparticles. The other films had polymeric character. Obtained films were characterized by ellipsometry, XRD, AFM and SEM. Light transmittance values of the films were compared. Films other than SiO 2 and Ta 2 O 5 were found to have crystalline structure. Thickness values of the films were in the range of 30–115 nm and roughness values were in 1.2–23 nm range. Single layer porous silica provided 95% light transmittance, whereas ITO-TiO 2 -SiO 2 multilayer film provided a light transmittance of 97.2%.

Gencer, Nahit/0000-0001-7092-8857; WOS: 000422674700030 A series of novel tetrahydroquinoline derivatives containing urea moiety was synthesized and their invitro inhibitory effects on the human carbonic anhydrase isoenzymes (hCA-I and hCA-II) were evaluated by using the CO2 hydration method. All the synthesized compounds exhibited inhibitory activity against both hCA I and hCA II with 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-(4-(4-p-tolyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-2-yl)phenyl)urea (7k, IC50 value of 5.28M and 5.51M, against hCA I and hCA II, respectively) as the strongest inhibitor in this study. Structure-activity relationships were also investigated. The results showed that most of synthesized compounds have a higher inhibitory activity against hCA I than hCA II. Also the substituents, containing two or more pairs of non-bonding electrons, generally increased the hCA I and II inhibitory activity. Furthermore, some electronic parameters such as the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) energy levels, electron affinity, total energy and dipole moments of the best inhibitors (7b, 7h and 7k) in this study were also calculated by using Gaussian software. The results revealed that HOMO-LUMO energy differences, total energy, chemical hardness and dipole moment of 7b, 7h and 7k showed a linear relationship with increasing inhibitory activity. In this study, zirconium-based highly porous metal-organic framework, MOF-545, was synthesized and characterized. The surface area of MOF-545 was found to be 2192 m(2)/g. This adsorbent was used for the first time as an adsorbent for the vortex assisted-solid phase extraction of Pb(II) from cereal, beverage and water samples. Lead in solutions was determined by FAAS. The optimal experimental conditions were as follows: the amount of MOF-545, 10 mg; pH of sample, 7; adsorption and elution time, 15 min; and elution solvent, 2 mL of 1 mol L-1 HCl. Under the optimal conditions of the method, the limit of detection, preconcentration factor and precision as RSD% were found to be 1.78 mu g L-1, 125 and 2.6%, respectively. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for lead was found to be 73 mg g(-1). The method was successfully verified by analyzing two certified reference materials (BCR-482 Lichen and SPS-WW1 Batch 114) and spiked chickpea, bean, wheat, lentil, cherry juice, mineral water, well water and wastewater samples. In 3GPP LTE Release 13, Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) was standardized for providing wide-area connectivity for massive machine-type communications for IoT. In LTE Release 14, NB-IoT was further developed to deliver enhanced user experience in selected areas through the addition of features such as increased positioning accuracy, increased peak data rates, the introduction of a lower device power class, improved non-anchor carrier operation, multicast, and authorization of coverage enhancements. In this article, we provide an overview of these features introduced for NB-IoT in LTE Release 14. An analysis is given on the applicability of these features and their benefits to enhance the NB-IoT radio access technology.

The coupling of both photocatalysis and SERS analysis applications may provide a promising technology in the remediation of recalcitrant organics in aqueous systems and simultaneously serve as rapid on-site quantitative analysis. In this work, we present a simple method to synthesize a multi-functional material via modification of the broad bandgap of titanium dioxide (TiO2) through semiconductor coupling using tungsten disulphide (WS2) and magnetic (Fe3O4) nanoparticles. Based on ultraviolet irradiation, the novel microsphere-like magnetic Fe3O4@TiO2/WS2 hybrid nanoparticles, termed as (MNPs) was used as photocatalyst for photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds. Moreover, with the aid of photoreduction; we were able to synthesize and overgrow silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the MNPs to obtain surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) platform (Ag@MNPs) for more accurate, rapid, on-site and salable quantitative analysis of rhodamine B (RhB). Our findings demonstrated that the created reduction relevant to TiO2 bandgap energy thus improved its photocatalytic activity and the presence of AgNPs developed a highly sensitive, stable, and reproducible SERS-active substrate. Furthermore, a significantly strengthened photo-degradation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics and a cosmetic dye have been illustrated. Easy separation, low cost, high efficiency, reproducibility, and sustainability are the main advantages of the Fe3O4@TiO2/WS2 nanophotocatalyst. The removal efficiencies between 68–100% were obtained for drugs and dye in the range of 60 and 200 min under ultraviolet-irradiation. In addition, well dispersed ultra-small Ag NPs decorated MNPs were obtained from this in-situ strategy that showed high levels of SERS activity with the ability to detect RhB with a concentration limit of 10 nM using an excitation wavelength of 532 nm.

Bakım kalitesini yükseltmek için sağlık profesyonelleri TAT yöntemlerinin kullanımını değerlendirmelidir. Bitkiler (%55,2) ve bitkisel olmayan destekler (%53,5) en çok kullanılan TAT yöntemleriydi. In this work we present a middleware architecture for a mobile peer-to-peer content distribution system. Our architecture allows wireless content dissemination between mobile nodes without relying on infrastructure support. In addition, it supports the dissemination of contents between the wireless ad-hoc domain and the wired Internet. In the ad-hoc domain, contents are exchanged opportunistically when nodes are in communication range. Applications access the service of our platform through a publish/subscribe interface and therefore do not have to deal with low-level opportunistic networking issues such as beaconing, service discovery, connection setup and matching or soliciting contents. Our middleware consists of three key components. A content structure that facilitates dividing contents into logical topics and allows efficient matching of content lookups and downloading under sporadic node connectivity. A solicitation protocol that allows nodes to solicit content meta-information in order to discover contents available at a neighboring node and to download content entries disjointedly from different nodes. An API that allows applications to access the system services through a publish/subscribe interface. In this work we present the design and implementation of our middleware and describe a set of applications that use the services provided by our middleware. We also assess the performance of the system using our Android implementation as well as a simulation implementation for large-scale evaluation.
