Seafoods are seen as a vital nutritional source in terms of protein and mineral contained. Besides being an important nutritional source, fish consumption has been suggested by many scientific researches to have an important effect on academic achievement. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between fish consumption and academic achievement with regard to different variables. The correlational survey model was used as a research model in the study. The sample of the study consisted of 259 students selected by random sampling depending on their socio-economic status from primary and high school of Directorate of National Education in Antalya. A questionnaire developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. Data obtained was analyzed by the frequency, percentage, correlational analysis with the Chi-square test. As a result, the relationship between fish consumption and academic achievement was evaluated depending on the results obtained by school type, socio-economic status, and gender and fish consumption frequency of students. However, it was concluded that although the results were supported by theoretically they were not supported statistically., Su ürünleri, hayvansal protein kaynağı olmakla beraber içerdiği zengin yağ, vitamin ve mineraller açısından önemli bir besin kaynağı olarak görülmektedir. Özellikle balığın önemli bir besin kaynağı olmasının yanı sıra, tüketiminin de akademik başarıya olan etkisi yapılan farklı çalışmalarla ortaya konulmuştur. Bu çalışmada, öğrencilerin balık tüketim sıklığı ile okul başarıları arasındaki ilişki farklı değişkenlerle ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Çalışmada betimsel tarama yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini Antalya İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı 2 ilköğretim ve 1 lise kurumundan sosyo-ekonomik düzeylerine göre rastgele seçilen 259 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bir anket kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde frekans, yüzde ve korelasyon değerlendirmeleri yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda balık tüketimi ile akademik başarı arasındaki ilişki, öğrencilerin bağlı bulundukları okul, cinsiyet, sosyo-ekonomik düzey ve balık tüketim sıklıkları açısından ele alınmış olup, ulaşılan sonuçların kuramsal açıdan desteklendiği ancak istatistiki açıdan desteklenmediği sonuçlarına varılmıştır.

In this study, seasonal and sexual variations of fatty acid profiles of Pseudophoxinus fahrettini and Capoeta mauricii which are freshwater fishes in Turkey inland waters were investigated. The monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) values were higher than saturated fatty acids (SFAs) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) values for both species. Also the ratios of MUFAs in P. fahrettini were higher than those of C. mauricii in all seasons. The results indicated that palmitic acid was the most dominant SFA for both species in all seasons. Oleic acid in the muscle of P. fahrettini and palmitoleic acid in the muscle of C. mauricii were the highest MUFA respectively in both genders in all seasons. The highest ratios of omega 3 PUFAs were 23.00% in the muscle of C. mauricii in summer and 18.44% in P. fahrettini in winter. The ratios of omega 3 PUFAs in muscles of both species and genders were higher than the ratios of omega 6 PUFAs during all the seasons. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were significantly higher than the other PUFAs in both sexes of the species. The ratio of omega 3 PUFAs to omega 6 PUFAs was higher than 1.76 in both species and genders in all seasons.

Bu araştırmada, Burdur ili sınırları içerisinde yer alan Karacaören I Baraj Gölü ile gölü besleyen Isparta Çayı ve Göksu Deresi mansaplarının koliform ve fekal koliform bakteri yoğunluklarının mevsimsel değişimleri izlenerek, rezervuarın maruz kaldığı mikrobiyolojik kirlilik düzeyi belirlenmiş olup; ayrıca su sıcaklığı, pH ve çözünmüş oksijen değerleri de çalışma süresince ölçülmüştür. Mikrobiyolojik analizler, membran filtrasyon metodu ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma alanının mikrobiyolojik kirliliği ulusal ve uluslarası kriterlere göre değerlendirilmiştir. Temmuz 2013 - Haziran 2014 tarihleri arasında yürütülen bu çalışmada, toplam koliform bakteri sayısı 500 - >100.000 KOB/100 mL, fekal koliform bakteri sayısı 430 - 14680 KOB/100 mL arasında değişim göstermiştir. Çalışma alanında kirlilik göstergesi parametrelerin alansal ve zamansal değişim gösterdiği, bu değerlerin özellikle kış aylarında yüksek seviyelerde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Baraj gölünü besleyen Isparta Çayı ve Göksu (Çandır) Deresi toplam koliform ve fekal koliform bakteri sayıları, tüm aylarda, göl içindeki çalışma noktalarına göre oldukça yüksek değerlerde kaydedilmiştir. Yerüstü Su Kalitesi Yönetmeliği, Kıtaiçi Yerüstü Su Kaynaklarının Kalite Kriterlerine göre; baraj gölüne giren akarsu ve göl istasyonlarının III. ve IV. sınıf su kalitesinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir., It was aimed to monitor seasonal changes of coliform and fecal coliform bacteria densities in different stations of Karacaören I Dam Lake and Isparta Stream and Göksu Creek downstream and to determine the level of microbiological pollution in the dam Besides, water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen values were measured during the study. The surface water samples were collected seasonally between July 2013 and June 2014. Microbiological analyzes were carried out by the membrane filtration method. Microbiological pollution of the study area was evaluated according to national and international criteria. The total coliform and fecal coliform bacteria counts were between 500 and >100,000 CFU/100 mL, between 430 and 14680 CFU/100 mL respectively. The pollution indicator parameters showed spatial and seasonal changes, are detected high level especially in winter. Total coliform and fecal coliform bacteria count in Isparta Stream and Göksu Creek were detected higher than dam lake stations. According to Surface Water Quality Regulation and Quality Criteria of Continental Surface Water Resources dam lake, Isparta Stream, and Göksu Creek have bacteriological contamination with class III and IV type water.

Avlanılan balıkların öncelikle boy, ağırlık, yaş ve cinsiyetleri belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra iç ve dış bakıları yapılmıştır. C. erhani'den140; C. pestai'den 150 ve C. mauricii'den ise 148 olmak üzere toplam 438 adet balık bireyi incelenmiştir. Bunlardan 347 adet balığın parazitli olduğu görülmüştür. Sayısal anlamda en fazla parazite C. erhani'de karşılaşılmıştır. A total of 140, 150 and 148 individuals were examined for C. erhani, C. pestai and C. mauricii, respectively. Of the specimens examined, 347 individuals were observed with parasites. In terms of number of parasites, the highest number of parasites was encountered in C. erhani. Six species of parasites from Plathelminthes in the classes of Monagenean (Paradiplozoon sp., Dactylogyrus turcicus, Dactylogyrus lencorani), Digenea (Allocreadium isoporum) and Acenthocephale (Pomphorhynchus spindletruncatus and Neoechinorhynchus zabensis) and one species from Nemathelminthes (Rhabdochona denudata) were identified. In the study, prevalence (%), mean density and abundance parameters of each parasite species were evaluated by calculating the parameters according to sex, age and length group for each fish species. Monitoring of hematological values which provide important information aboutthe health status of fish is considerably important in aquaculture. One of themost commonly used methods for detecting the hematological values in fish bloodis the usage of Natt-Herrick solution. Basically, in this approach, Natt-Herrickstained blood samples are examined with a microscope and the cells are counted.Nevertheless, the counting process is both tough and time-consuming. In thisstudy, a technique in which cell counting in blood samples images isautomatically performed has been presented. Natt-Herrick stained blood samples ofOncorhynchus mykiss and Sparus aurata were used for evaluationof the developed scheme. The outputs generated by automatic blood cells detectionalgorithm in 90 images were compared with results which were obtained by meansof user’s intervention. Consequently, anaverage f-score over 0.96 was achieved., Hematolojik değerlerin kontrolü balıklarınsağlık durumları hakkında önemli bilgiler verdiğinden, bu kontrol balıkyetiştiriciliğinde oldukça önemlidir. Hematolojik değerlerin kontrolünde en sıkkullanılan yöntemlerden biri de Natt-Herrick solüsyonudur. Natt-Herricksolüsyonu yardımıyla boyanan kan örnekleri mikroskop ile incelenmekte ve hücresayımı yapılmaktadır. Ancak bu sayım hem yorucu hem de zaman alıcıdır. Buçalışmada kan örneklerine ait görüntüler üzerinden otomatik olarak hücre sayımıyapabilecek bir teknik sunulmuştur. Geliştirilen yöntemin değerlendirilmesindeNatt-Herrick solüsyonu ile boyanmış Gökkuşağı Alabalığı ve Çipura balıklarınaait örnekler kullanılmıştır. Bu örneklere ait 90 adet görüntüdeki kanhücrelerinin otomatik belirlenmesi sonuçları ile kullanıcılar tarafındanbelirlenen sonuçlarla karşılaştırılmıştır. Karşılaştırma sonucunda ortalamaolarak 0,96’nın üzerinde f-skor değeri elde edilmiştir.

In this study, an ectoparasitic copepod, Caligus minimus Otto, 1821 infestation of European sea bass, Dicentrachus labrax (Linnaeus, 1758) caught from Beymelek Lagoon (Antalya, Turkey) was investigated. Fish sampling was carried out seasonally between October 2008 and July 2009. A total of 87 European sea bass was collected and examined. Their total body lengths and weights ranged from 23 to 44.3 cm and from 180 to 896 g for males, from 28 to 47.8 cm and from 179 to 957 g for females, respectively. The age distributions of fish were between 2 and 5 years. Out of 87 samples, 23 were infected with C. minimus. Although the prevalence and intensity of C. minimus were neither affected with host sex, nor size and age, its infestation showed a significant seasonal variation. The prevalence of C. minimus increased gradually from the autumn to the winter, reached the maximum in the spring and declined to the minimum in the summer.

Bu çalışmada Capoeta angorae türünün toplam lipid, toplam protein ve yağ asidi bileşimi incelenmiştir. Toplam yağ içerikleri (yaş ağırlık olarak) ilkbaharda %1,44, yazın %6,41, sonbaharda %4,25 ve kışın %4,29 oranlarında bulunmuştur. C. angorae türünün kas dokusundaki toplam protein oranları ise yıl içerisinde %16,55 ile %19,25 arası değişmiştir. Her iki cinsiyetin kas dokusundaki en çok bulunan yağ asitleri palmitik, oleik, palmitoleik, ökosapentaenoik ve dokosaheksaenoik asitlerdir. Yıl boyunca n3 PUFA oranları n6 PUFA oranlarından daha yüksek bulunmuştur. C. angorae türünün kas dokusundaki toplam n6 PUFA değerlerinin n3 PUFA değerlerine oranı sırasıyla dişilerde 0,14 ile 0,19, erkeklerde 0,12 ile 0,31 arası değişmiştir. Her iki cinsiyetin kas dokusundaki EPA+DHA seviyeleri 0,19 ile 0,91 g/100g yaş ağırlık arasında değişmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, C. angorae türünün kas dokusundaki toplam lipid ve yağ asitleri oranlarının yıl içerisinde önemli derecede değiştiğini göstermiştir., In this study, the total lipid, total protein and fatty acid compositions of Capoeta angorae were investigated. Total lipid content ratios (as wet weight) were found to be as 1.44% in spring, 6.41% in summer, 4.25% in autumn and 4.29% in winter. Total protein ratios in the muscle of C. angorae also varied from16.55% to19.24% during the year. The major fatty acids in the muscles of both sexes were palmitic, oleic, palmitoleic, eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoicacids. The proportions of n3 PUFAs were higher than those of n6 PUFAs through the year. The ratios of total n6 PUFAs to n3 PUFAs in the muscle of C. angorae changed from 0.14 to 0.19 in female and from 0.12 to 0.31 in males, respectively. The levels of EPA+DHA in the muscles of both genders changed from 0.19 to 0.91 g/100 g wet weight. The results showed that the ratios of total lipid and fatty acids in the muscle of C. angorae significantly varied by the year.

A total of 65 individuals from 3 different fish species, Capoeta antalyensis (n: 15), Aphanius mento (n: 29), and Pseudophoxinus battalgil (n: 21), were examined for helminth parasites (Nemathelminthes) between May and July of 2009. A total of 123 parasites of 3 species were found in these fish, consisting of 3 nematodes: Rhabdochona denudata, Eustrongylides excisus larvae, and Contracaecum sp. larvae. Among these species, R. denudata was recorded in the intestine of C. antalyensis, with a total of 92 parasites found in 13 of the 15 C. antalyensis examined. The overall prevalence of this species was 86.6%. Two further species of nematodes, Contracaecum sp. larvae and E. excisus larvae, were found in the abdominal cavities of P. battalgil and A. mento, respectively. Contracaecum sp. larvae were found in 10 of 21 fish examined and a total of 29 specimens were recorded, making the overall prevalence of this species 47.6%. Only 2 E. excisus larvae were found in 2 of the 29 fish examined. This study provides the first ichthyoparasitological data for these host fish species in Turkey, and the occurrence of R. denudata in C. antalyensis and Contracaecum sp. larvae in P. battalgil are considered to be new host records for these fish species.

Acanthocephalan Pomphorhynchus laevis specimens are reported in Alburnus baliki and Capoeta antalyensis caught between May and July of 2009 in streams discharging into Antalya Bay. The total prevalence rate for P. laevis was 78.5% and 60% in A. baliki and C. antalyensis, respectively. A total of 28 A. baliki were caught, and 74 P. laevis were recorded in 22 of the 28 fish examined. As for the occurrence of P. laevis in C. antalyensis, a total of 15 fish were caught, and a total of 25 individuals were found in 9 of the 15 fish examined. This finding constitutes the first record of this helminth parasite in either fish species, and the host fishes represent 2 new host records for P. laevis.

Bu çalışmada, Beymelek Lagünü'ndeki Avrupa deniz levrek balıkları (Dicentrarchus labrax L.1758)' nın helmint faunası mevsimsel olarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmada lagündeki kuzulukta ve yapılan avcılıktan elde edilen levrek balığı çalışılmıştır. Yapılan incelemelerde; solungaçlarda;Monogenea'dan bir tür (Diplectanum aequans), sindirim borusunda; Digenea'dan bir tür (Acanthostomum absconditum) ve vücut boşluğunda; Nematoda' dan da bir tür (Hysterothylacium larvası) tespit edilmiştir. Saptanan türlerden Acanthostomum absconditum Türkiye helmint faunası için yeni kayıttır.Özellikle Diplectanum aequans'ın levrek balıkları için spesifik bir helmint olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu çerçevede anılan türün enfastasyon oranı %71.2 bulunmuştur. Enfestasyona her mevsim rastlanmış olup, maksimum seviyeye kış aylarında ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca sonbahar mevsiminde ise enfestasyon oranı %93.7 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Diğer plathelminth türü Acanthostomum absconditum'un yoğunluğu ise sonbaharda olmuştur. Helmintler içerisinde yer alan Cestoda ve Acanthocephala grubundan hiçbir tür parazite rastlanılmamıştır.Yine söz konusu parazitlerden D. aequans için en yüksek ortalama yoğunluk değeri kışın (51.5); buna karşın A. absconditum için sonbaharda en yüksek değer (9.3) ve Hysterothylacium sp. larvası için bulunan değer ise sonbahar'da (2) `dir. Ortalama bolluk seviyeleri ise D. aequans için maksimum kışın (51.1), minimum ise yaz mevsiminde (3.2); buna karşın, A. absconditum için maksimum sonbahar (4.13) ve minimum kış mevsiminde ise (0.1) bulunmuştur.Beymelek lagünü'ndeki levrek balıklarında özellikle 2 yaşlı olanlarda- anılan üç tür helmint tespit edilmiştir. Beymelek Lagünü'nde yaşayan levrek balıkları potansiyel anaç balıklar olması nedeniyle yetiştiricilik için kullanılmadan önce gerekli dezenfeksiyon işlemlerinden geçmesi gerektiği kanısına varılmıştır. This thesis aimed to determine seasonal changes of helminth fauna on European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L. 1758) in Beymelek Lagoon, Antalya, Turkey. In this study, one species (Diplectanum aequans) from Monogenea species on fish gills, one species (Acanthostomum absconditum) from Digenea in digestion tube and one species (Hysterothylacium larvae) from Nematoda in body cavity were determined.Among the determined species, A. absconditum is a new record of helminth fauna in Turkey.Particularly Diplectanum aequans is known to be a species specific helminth on European sea bass. The results indicated that this helminth had an infection rate of %71.2. The infection was prevalent in all seasons but reaches maximum in the winter. The infection rate was determined to be 93.7% in the autumn. Moreover in the same season the infection rate of other plathelminth species, Acanthostomum absconditum, reached the maximum. However, no species from Cestoda and Acanthocephala was observed.The highest mean intensity of D. Aequans, A. absconditum and the larvae of Hysterothylacium sp. were 51.5 in the winter, 9.3 and 2.0 in the autumn respectively. The maximum and minimum abundances of were 51.1 in the winter and 3.2 in the summer for D. aequans, whereas 4.3 in the autumn and 0.1 in the winter form A. absconditum.Above mentioned helminth species were seen on two years old European sea bass in Beymelek Lagoon. Consequently, it was concluded that prior to selection of sea bass from the lagoon as a broodstock candidate for aquaculture, they should be carefully checked and treated. 66

Türkiye’de alabalık yetiştiriciliği 1970’li yılların başlarından itibaren farklı kültür sistemleri kullanılarak yapılmakta olup günümüze kadar önemli gelişmeler kaydedilmiştir. Ancak son yıllarda deniz, göl, baraj ve göletlerde kafes sistemlerinde yetiştiriciliğe fırsat verilmesi ile birlikte çok miktarda işletme faaliyete geçmiştir. Bu durum yetiştiriciliğin gelişmesine, ağ kafes sistemlerinde teknolojik ilerlemeye ve sektörel büyümeye katkıda bulunmuştur. Türkiye’de 2008 yılı verilerine göre; iç sularda 34 ilde toplam 227 adet kafes işletmesinde yaklaşık 29.000 ton/yıl alabalık üretimi yapılmaktadır. Denizlerde ise 13 adet işletmede 2.500 ton/yıl civarında alabalık üretimi gerçekleştirilmektedir. İç sulardaki toplam alabalık üretimi içerisinde kafes yetiştiriciliğinin payı 2007 yılı üretim verilerine göre yaklaşık %44’tür. En önemli sorun alanları; su bedeli, yem fiyatı, örgütlenme, pazarlama ve tanıtımdır. On the other hand, a number of trout farms have recently gone into action as a result of the opportunities given by the government to cage culture in marine, and natural and artificial lakes. This situation has contributed to technological development of cage culture and growth of aquaculture sector. According to 2008 data, in Turkey there are 227 trout cage farms in inland water resources of 34 provinces and they produce about 29.000 metric tons per year. Additionally in marine waters a total of 13 cage farms produce about 2.500 tons per year. Production figures of cage aquaculture accounts for 44 % of total production in 2007 figures. The main problematic areas are water and feed costs, organization, marketing and publicity. Cage aquaculture should be evaluated differently and independently in comparison with the other culture systems due to its specific conditions and great importance. To generate well-planned policies, determinations of socio-economic situations of the existent farms are required
