Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had detrimental impacts on both physical and mental health worldwide. In addition to the behavioral effects, it has caused a range of psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and anger. Fear and stress have been particularly prevalent in individuals. This study aims to assess the psychometric properties of the Scale for the Evaluation of Mental and Psychosomatic Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic (COVID-19 PRPEDS) on adolescents and explore the pandemic's psychosomatic effects. Materials and Methods: A total of 503 adolescents between the ages of 14 and 18 years who continue their high school education constituted the study population. The COVID-19 PRPEDS comprising 18 items and 2 subscales (Mental Effects, Psychosomatic Effects), was used in adolescents. The forms were delivered to the students via the Internet, and in addition to the scale, the age and sex of the adolescents were recorded. Results: A majority of the participants (96.6%, n = 486) had knowledge about COVID-19, 93.8% (n = 472) could differentiate COVID-19 from other diseases, 96.6% (n = 486) were able to explain the transmission ways of COVID-19 and 96% (n = 483) took the necessary precautions to protect themselves from COVID-19. The COVID-19 PRPEDS scores of males were higher than females. The study validation index was above 0.9, which is considered to be acceptable for adolescents. Conclusions: Like in the other pandemics, adolescents experienced serious mental health problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to its psychosomatic effects, the mental issues related to the pandemic were more common in male adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sonuç: Elde edilen yüksek doğruluk, AUC, F1 skoru, kappa değeri ve son üç ölçütün ortalaması olan en yüksek Final skor değerine sahip CNN modeli olan VGG16 modelinin fundus görüntülerinin sınıflandırılmasında kullanılabileceğini; Tıp Fakültelerinin Oftalmoloji alanında uzmanlara tanı aşamasında yardımcı bir destek rolü üstlenebileceği ve bu alanda gelecekte kullanılabilir sistemler tasarlanabileceğini göstermektedir Fundus imaging and early fundus scanning, a retinal imaging method to capture anatomical structures and anomalies in the human eye in ophthalmology, is an effective and economical way to prevent blindness caused by ophthalmologic diseases. Clinically, manual diagnosis is time consuming due to the scarcity of medical resources. Diagnosis, diagnosis and treatment of the disease may delay. Fast and automated disease detection today is critical and urgent to reduce the workload of ophthalmologists. Ophthalmologists diagnose diseases based on pattern recognition through direct or indirect visualization of the eye and surrounding structures. This commitment of the field of ophthalmology to fundus images in disease detection has laid the perfect groundwork for taking advantage of deep learning architectures. The main purpose of this thesis is to solve the classification problem of ocular diseases focused on artificial intelligence. In this context, creating different deep convolutional neural network models for ocular disease classification by using color fundus images taken from the right and left eyes of the patients and the education data, which are the disease diagnosis keywords of each image, to train these models, after the model training, the test fundus image set Calculation of the disease classification performance criteria such as kappa value, F1 score, Area Under Curve (AUC) and Final score values which are the average of these three criteria, evaluation of the classification performance of the models according to these criteria, It is aimed to be used in the classification of diseases and suggested to the literature. Method: Convolutional neural networks (CNN) have achieved remarkable success on fundus images with their powerful feature learning ability, and with the development of deep learning, research on diseases in the field of ophthalmology has gained momentum. Most of the research has focused on only one disease. During fundus scanning, ophthalmologists usually diagnose multiple diseases on a binocular fundus image. In order to meet the real medical scenario, a public Ocular Disease Intelligent Recognition (ODIR) data set consisting of binocular fundus images containing eight different disease classes was published for the first time in 2019. vii Results: In this thesis, three successful models Inceptionv3, VGG16 and ResNet50, which are called State of the Art Models in the literature, were created for the classification of images of ophthalmologic diseases. The disease classification performances of the models were evaluated after feature extraction was obtained for each model using pre-trained ImageNet weights. Final score values for the models trained and tested on the data set provided by the International Ocular Disease Intelligent Recognition Competition were 0.677 for the VGG16 model, 0.669 for the Inceptionv3 model, and 0.628 for the ResNet50 model, respectively. Conclusion: The obtained high accuracy, AUC, F1 score, kappa value and the highest Final score value of the CNN model, which is the average of the last three criteria, can be used in classification of fundus images; It shows that Medical Faculties can play an auxiliary role to support specialists in the field of ophthalmology at the diagnosis stage and those systems can be designed in the future

OBJECTIVE Genome-level research qualifies survivin as the fourth-best "transcriptome" for colon, lung, brain, breast, and melanoma cancers. To date, it has been stated as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, researchers on survivin expression in CRC are heterogeneous. Our current study aimed to reveal prognostic importance of survivin by investigating all CRC articles up to January 2021 that have performed analysis of survivin by immunohistochemical staining method. METHODS A comprehensive literature search for relevant studies published up to January 2021 was performed using SCOPUS and Pubmed databases. Only articles in which survivin was detected by IHC staining were included in the study. All analyses were conducted by using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis. Eight articles and data of 1535 patients were included in the study. The Hazard Ratio was used to examine the relationship between CRC and survivin protein, for the relative weights of each research article. HR and 95% confidence interval values and general summary HR were calculated and forest plot graph was obtained. RESULTS Statistical heterogeneity Cochrane's Q test statistics 24.156; p=0.004 and I2 value was obtained as 62,742. In line with the assumption that the data consisted of different populations, the HR and 95% CI values were calculated as 1.446 (1.103-1.897) using the Dersimonian and Laird random effects model. In order to evaluate the risk of publication bias, funnel plots were obtained, including log HR and standard error values on the x and y axes, respectively. CONCLUSION The analyzes obtained suggest that survivin overexpression in CRC is associated with poor prognosis. (HR=1.446; 95% CI: 1.103-1.897). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The mother is an important determinant of the nutrition of her children. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between obese or overweight mothers, their socio-demographic status and appetite on the anthropometric measurements of their children, and to evaluate the relationship between breastfeeding duration, initiation time of a complementary diet and children's body mass index (BMI) classification. Materials and Methods: Children whose ages were between 2 and 5 years old, with no additional chronic disease, were included. The sociodemographic data, anthropometric measurements and appetites of the children and their mothers were determined. Obese or overweight mothers and mothers with normal BMI were studied as two separate groups. The duration of breastfeeding and initiation time of a complementary diet for the children was classified as <4 months, 4-6 months and >6 months. Results: A total of 182 children (109 with obese and overweight mothers and 73 with mothers with normal BMI) were included. The ratio of overweight and obese children among the group of obese and overweight mothers was higher. When the weight, weight percentile and weight standard deviation score values of the obese or overweight mothers were compared with their children, a moderately statistically significant positive correlation was found. The ratio of overweight and obese children among the group of employed mothers, and the ratio of underweight children among the group of unemployed mothers, was high. A significant relationship was found between maternal appetite and the BMI classification of their children. No statistically significant difference was found between breastfeeding duration, initiation time of a complementary diet and children's BMI classification. Conclusion: It was determined that the mother's characteristics of having a BMI classification of overweight or obese, excessive appetite and being employed may be risk factors in the development of overweight and obese children. Introduction: The person who is giving the first-hand care to hospitalised children and mostly is being affected by the child’s disease is generally the mother. It is inevitable for the children not to be affected by the fear and anxiety of their mothers. Materials and Methods: This study has been carried out with the purpose of identifying the level of depression and anxiety of the mothers whose 7-12 years of age children hospitalised due to an acute or a chronic disease between 28 October 2014 and 16 January 2015 in the State Hospital of Eskisehir. The first 100 voluntary mothers whose children were diagnosed with an acute disease and the first 100 voluntary mothers whose children were diagnosed with a chronic disease and who were on the third day of hospitalization were all included in the study. The necessary approval from the Ethics Committee of the Hospital has been received before beginning the study. Descriptive features have been collected through the “Descriptive Information Form” which was developed by the researchers. All the mothers have been applied to “Beck’s Depression Inventory BDI ” and “StateTrait Anxiety Inventory STAI ”. The data have been analysed through IBM SPSS Version 21. Results and Conclusions: At the end of the study, the mean depression score of mothers has been identified as 21.58, mean score of state anxiety has been 49.66, and mean score of trait anxiety has been identified as 47.30. When the scores of Beck’s Depression Inventory have been grouped into 3 categories as mild, moderate, and severe, a considerable statistical significance has been found between the score distributions of mothers who have an acute and chronic disease p=0.03* . Similarly, when the scores of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory have been grouped into 3 categories as lower, intermediate, and higher, a considerable statistical significance has been found between the score distributions of mothers who have an acute and chronic disease p=0.038*, p=0.004** . It is recommended that nurses and other healthcare personnel should accept the mothers whose children have been hospitalised as risky groups and should carry out appropriate practices in order to alleviate the anxiety of mothers, Giriş: Hastanede yatan çocuklarda birinci derecede bakım veren ve çocuğun hastalığından en fazla etkilenen kişi genellikle annedir.

- Abstract
Background: Nutrient foramen (NF) is a hole on the long bones that allows the passage of the nutrient artery. The vasculature of the bone is very important for fracture healing and vascularized bone grafting. Therefore, information about the location and number of NFs is important for surgical and clinical practice. The clavicle is the most commonly fractured bone. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between the location and number of NFs on the clavicle and other clavicle parameters., Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 86 dry clavicles of contemporary adult individuals without age and gender records. Some clavicle parameters and NF parameters were measured and the relationship between them was analyzed. Measurements were performed using a digital caliper., Results: Most of the clavicles had a single NF. There was a positive correlation between DFant/DFpost (distance between NF and anterior border/distance between NF and posterior border) and vertical thickness of sternal end (VTs), vertical thickness of thinnest point (VTt) and clavicular thinnest point index (CIt) in all cases (p < 0.05). Sagittal thickness of acromial end (STa), vertical thickness of clavicle (VTc), sagittal thickness of clavicle (STc) and sagittal thickness of thinnest point (STt) were associated with NF counts. The most common localization of NFs was type 2. The NFs were mostly located in the inferior position., Conclusions: Relationships between the number and morphometric characteristics of NFs and some clavicle parameters were determined. It was suggested that the knowledge of the number and morphometric characteristics of NFs is important for the protection of the nutrient artery in orthopedic surgery applications.
