In the region of the passage of the ulnar nerve from the anterior to the posterior compartment of the arm an arcade is formed which can be a primary or secondary factor in the production of traumatic lesions of this nerve in the arm. It is the purpose of this paper to present the details of this arcade and to note its clinical significance.

The mechanism of subluxation of the metacarpophalangeal joint is explained on the basis of experimental production of the deformity. A method of treatment is suggested, consisting in restoration of the position of the extensor pollicis longus and adductor pollicis over the metacarpophalangeal joint with transplantation of the extensor indicis proprius to the dorsal apparatus and extensor pollicis longus tendon over the joint.

This study permits us to define the cellular behavior of the synovial membrane to various irritants. In meniscal tears it is of mechanical nature, in hemarthroses it is of chemical nature (endogenous proteins), and in villous arthritis it is of an allergic nature (phenomenon of Arthus). The histological picture of each appears so different and so characteristic that it has a certain value in pathogenic research of a chronic affliction of the knee. We believe that it will be possible in the future to establish with precision, through a biopsy of the infrapatellar fat pad, the factor responsible for the origin of a morbid process.
