Diabetes is a common among general population with many oral manifestations; persistent deprived glycemic control has been associated with the incidence and progression of diabetes related complications including gingivitis and periodontitis which the most common cause of tooth loss, evidence suggests that periodontitis affects glucose control in diabetes. The disease evoked bacteremia can cause elevation in serum pro inflammatory cytokines leading to elevated lipid levels and ultimately inflicting a hypoglycemic agent resistance syndrome and tributary to destruction of duct gland beta cells. Treating chronic odontology infections is crucial for managing polygenic disorder. Aim of this literature review is to look at the impact of odontology medical aid on glycemic management in sort II diabetic patients.

This research paper is aimed at studying and analyzing expenditure of families food and non-food commodities across different income levels in the rural and urban areas of Gharbia Governorate, Egypt during the spread of the newly discovered corona virus. Specifically, it monitored the consumer's purchasing behaviors according to the current economic and social situations and the most important ways and methods used by the family to curtail the pandemic and it's effect. Similarly, the result from the evaluation of the effect of corona pandemic revealed that the number of families whose income decreased during the pandemic in the sample of rural and urban areas in Gharbia governorate is about 85, 149 families, and the categories that are harmed the most by the pandemic are those who work in professions with unfixed payment which represent 60.9% of the total number of families in the sample which reached 384 families, the most important reasons to the decrease of the household income are : the cessation of work of one of the family members, imposing the precautionary measures, stoppage of work of some of the family members, decrease of demand on the activity, low wages, decreasing work days and hours and irregular work, while some families dealt with this decrease in income through some necessary measures such as: dispensing with some quantities of unnecessary commodities when their price rises, and also some families relied on consumption of what can be planted or raised at home and/or receiving subvention from the Egyptian government during the stoppage of work which represents about 74.4%, 55.7%, 3.1% respectively from the total research sample.

Objective: The purpose of the study is to explore and recognize the variety of reasons that belie the female student body decision of opting for medicine as a career option. Methods: An interview based study, with both closed and open ended questions, was conducted amongst the female medical students of public and private sector medical colleges in Saudi Arabia. Material and information were gathered using this interview-based questionnaire which the female students were asked to fill out. The duration of study was from 1st October 2021 to 30th January 2022. Analyzed on SPSS version 22. Results: A total of 900 female medical students participated with 336 (37.3%) from pre-clinical years and 564 (62.7%) from clinical years. The mean age of the respondents was 20.7+1.8 years. The results imply a variety of reasons for the choice of medicine as a profession by the females with majority stressing the desire to serve humanity and the attached respect and acceptance as the other attracting factors. Minor reasons also exist that are discussed in greater depth in the article. Conclusion: It is evident that in spite of the overwhelming obstacles still prevalent and the conservative attitudes towards career oriented females, women’s deciding to enter the field of medicine is on the increase, as it makes it easier to stand up for when they are wronged and make their own choices. The government can help further by increasing the initiatives to get more females to enroll in the MBBS programs all over the country.

Background: Polytrauma is a leading cause of death globally and usually involving young victims. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is a serious clinical presentation of myocardial dysfunction characterized by acute, transient, and reversible heart failure syndrome owing to regional wall abnormalities of the ventricular myocardium associated with ECG changes and rising of myocardial biomarkers in the absence of cardiac condition causing the temporary ventricular dysfunction. Objective: To detect the prevalence of stress cardiomyopathy among polytrauma patients attending to Emergency Hospital Mansoura University. Patients and methods: The current study was a cross sectional study conducted on 500 patients who attended to Emergency Department, Emergency Hospital Mansoura University, suffering from polytrauma within the period from August 2019 to August 2020. Results: Prevalence of cardiomyopathy among the studied trauma patients was 4.4%. Mode of trauma (either blunt or penetrating) had no effect in the incidence of cardiomyopathy. Background: Trauma-related deaths are one of the top 10 causes of death. Resuscitation in trauma and critically ill patients are challenging. Clinical and laboratory parameters are used to verify the different measurements. Lactate is a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in sepsis and trauma. Objective: The aim of the current work was to investigate lactate clearance in patients admitted to emergency department (ED) and compare with the revised trauma score to predict mortality rate in polytrauma patients. Patients and methods: This prospective case-control study included a total of 200 polytraumatic patients with availability of Blood sampling, admitted to Department of Emergency Medicine, Mansoura University Hospitals. This study was conducted over a period of 12 months. Serum lactate was collected in tubes before receiving any type of treatment. The analysis was performed within 1 h from blood collection and six hours. Results: Regarding association with mortality, Lactate first hour, Lactate after 6 hours and Lactate clearance demonstrated significant correlation with it (P 0.05). Background: Severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity (PSH), which is characterized by catecholamine surge. β-blockers can break this cycle by protecting β-receptor rich brain cells to decrease the cerebral oxygen demand, which may attenuate cerebral ischemia and secondary brain injury. In addition, β-blockers are beneficial to decrease hypermetabolism, lighten cardiac workload and ischemia, and lessen cerebral oxygen demand in head injury. Objective: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of beta blockers (propranolol) on patients with acute TBI. Patients and methods: A total of 400 patients who were presented and admitted to Mansoura University Emergency Hospital (MUEH) surgical ICU with TBI were enrolled in this study. The enrolled patients were divided equally and randomly into 2 groups: Propranolol group (200 patients) who received IV propranolol and control group (200 patients) who received the standard medical and surgical care without propranolol. Background: Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is an emergency condition, which is accompanied by fatal complications. Clinical signs and symptoms are often unspecific. In addition, there is no single laboratory test to diagnose acute mesenteric ischemia. Early and accurate diagnosis of intestinal ischemia is important to provide rapid and correct treatment and reduce morbidity and mortality rates. Objective: To determine the clinical predictors of outcome in patients with acute mesenteric ischemia at Emergency Hospital, Mansoura University. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective study, which was conducted on patients that were admitted to Emergency Hospital, Mansoura University over a year from December 2019 to December 2020. All patients above 18 years old with acute mesenteric ischemia were included while whom less than 18 years old were excluded. Results: this study had 50 patients (21 males and 29 females) with average age of 66 years old. The results showed that majority of the studied cases died, while only 42% (21 cases) of AMI cases survived. Hypercholesterolemia was considered the most frequently reported Co-morbidity followed by HTN, AF and lastly DM and cardiomegaly. There were statistically significant differences as regards co-morbidities (presence of 2 or more co-morbidities). Conclusion: Acute Mesenteric Ischemia is a serious condition with high mortality rate especially in advanced age and in cases associated with comorbidities, presence of 2 or more co-morbidities, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, past surgical history increase the incidence of death.
