Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent condition associated with increased androgens, but some rare diseases, e.g., congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), should also be considered in the differential diagnosis of hyperandrogenemia. The potential role of incretin hormones has been thoroughly studied in different metabolic conditions, but data about women with PCOS and CAH are insufficient.

Cushing's Syndrome (CS) is the consequence of the exposure of tissues to extremely high levels of glucocorticoids. Early diagnosis and treatment are the mainstay of optimizing patient outcomes and improving their quality of life. In the recent years steroid profiling by LC-MS sheds more light on the diagnosis of CS.

Aims: The present study aims to investigate the association between catecholamine metabolites (normetanephrine [NMN] and metanephrine [MN]) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and its clinical manifestations.

Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2) is a severe and complex health problem. It is the most common type of diabetes. DMT2 is a chronic metabolic disorder that affects the way your body metabolizes sugar. With DMT2, your body either resists the effects of insulin or does not produce sufficient insulin to continue normal glucose levels. DMT2 is a disease that requires a multifactorial approach of controlling that includes lifestyle change and pharmacotherapy. Less than ideal management increases the risk of developing complications and comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease and numerous social and economic penalties. That is why the studies dedicated to the pathophysiological mechanisms and the treatment of DMT2 are extremely numerous and diverse. In this study, exploratory data analysis approaches are applied for the treatment of clinical and anthropometric readings of patients with DMT2. Since multivariate statistics is a well-known method for classification, modeling and interpretation of large collections of data, the major aim of the present study was to reveal latent relations between the objects of the investigation (group of patients and control group) and the variables describing the objects (clinical and anthropometric parameters). In the proposed method by the application of hierarchical cluster analysis and principal component analysis it is possible to identify reduced number of parameters which appear to be the most significant discriminant parameters to distinguish between four patterns of patients with DMT2. However, there is still lack of multivariate statistical studies using DMT2 data sets to assess different aspects of the problem like optimal rapid monitoring of the patients or specific separation of patients into patterns of similarity related to their health status which could be of help in preparation of data bases for DMT2 patients. The outcome from the study could be of custom for the selection of significant tests for rapid monitoring of patients and more detailed approach to the health status of DMT2 patients.

Objective: Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) represent conditions of different severity, characterized by an earlier-than-expected decrease in ovarian activity. The present study aims to compare metabolic disturbances between women with DOR and patients with POI from a different origin. Materials and methods: A total of 226 women (28 healthy women; 77 individuals with DOR, and 121 patients with POI/36 with Turner syndrome [TS] and 85 with non-TS POI/) have been studied retrospectively. Data concerning anthropometric indices, and metabolic parameters were collected. Results: Patients with DOR, non-TS POI, and TS had increased blood pressure and liver enzymes, pronounced insulin resistance, and worse lipid profiles than controls (p < 0.008 for all). TS patients had significantly higher ASAT, GGT, and TSH levels compared to non-TS POI and DOR individuals. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes tended to be higher in TS women compared to other groups. The prevalence of previously diagnosed polycystic ovarian syndrome was lower in the non-TS POI patients than in the DOR patients (p = 0.005). Conclusions: patients with decreased ovarian function suffer from insulin resistance, abnormal lipid profile, and subtle hepatic disturbances, irrespective of the severity of the condition and the presence of chromosomal aberrations. The solvothermal synthesis of LnCl3.nH2O with terephthalic acid (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid, H2BDC) produced metal–organic frameworks (LnBDC), [Ln2(BDC)3(H2O)4]∞, where Ln = Sm, Eu, Tb, and Dy. The materials obtained were characterized by a number of physico-chemical techniques. The influence of the ionic radius of the lanthanides on the microstructural characteristics of the Ln-MOFs was evaluated by performing Rietveld refinement. The MOFs obtained were tested as fluorescent sensors for numerous cations and anions in water. The highly luminescent EuBDC and TbBDC demonstrated multi-responsive luminescence sensing functions to detect Ag(I), Fe(III), Cr(III), and Cr(VI), which are essential for their environmental applications. By applying the non-linear Stern–Volmer equation, the fluorescent quenching mechanism was determined. The stability of the obtained materials in water in a wide pH range (acidity pH = 4 and alkalinity pH = 9 solutions) was confirmed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: Pathogenic variants in the CYP21A2 gene are related to the classic and non-classic forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). However, the role of CAH carrier status in the clinical presentation of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is still unclear. Moreover, the possible associations of different CYP21A2 gene polymorphisms with metabolic and reproductive abnormalities in PCOS have not been investigated. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the prevalence of the most common CYP21A2 pathogenic variant IVS2-13A/C>G (c.293-13A/C>G) in Eastern European women with PCOS and to evaluate the associations between common intron 2 genetic polymorphisms and the clinical symptoms of the patients. Methods: Sixty consecutively recruited women with PCOS were genotyped for the CYP21A2 intron 2 IVS2-13A/C>G genetic variant. Additionally, CYP21A2 intron 2 polymorphic variants rs6453 (c.293-44G>T), rs6451 (c.293-67C>A/G), rs369651496 (c.293-104del), and rs6474 (c.308G>A/p.R103L) were tested and described. The clinical and hormonal characteristics were compared in women with PCOS and with polymorphic and wild-type genotypes. Results: The heterozygous CYP21A2 pathogenic variant IVS2-13A/C>G was found in one of the investigated PCOS patients (1.67%) with a non-hyperandrogenic type of PCOS. The presence of the rs6453 (c.293-44G>T) T-allele was associated with increased levels of DHEAS (15.18 vs. 9.14 µmol/L, p = 0.003) compared to the wild-type genotype in the investigated group. The rs6451 (c.293-67C>A/G) minor alleles were associated with an earlier age of menarche in the patients (12.0 vs. 13.0 years, p = 0.007). The polymorphic rs369651496 minor 6G allele was related to a better lipid profile in the women with PCOS, while the rs6474 variant modulated the blood pressure of the patients. Conclusions: The presence of CYP21A2 genetic minor alleles of rs6467 (IVS2-13A/C, c.293-13A/C), rs6453 (c.293-44G>T), rs6451 (c.293-67C>A/G), rs369651496 (c.293-104del), and rs6474 (c.308G>A/p.R103L) might modulate the adrenal androgens, age of menarche, and metabolic features in women with PCOS. Further studies on 21-hydroxylase genetic variants (pathogenic and polymorphisms) in different ethnic groups might help reveal the influence of adrenal steroidogenesis on PCOS development, clinical manifestations, and lifelong cardiovascular risks. The purpose of that paper is to explore the application of the RELISH Model as team development tool by Project Managers in Bulgaria. The research is done among project management professionals in Bulgaria, project managers and project team members. The survey method with questions for quantitative analysis is used and the primary data is obtained directly from the respondents by a web-based questionnaire created in Google Forms and distributed by the Researcher's LinkedIn and Facebook personal profiles, and PMI Bulgaria Chapter communication channels. This study reports Seeing the facts as the most satisfied need with mean 3.8, followed by Leading the pack (3.76) and Hope for the future (3.66).
