This brief report provides an overview of pharmacovigilance information on adverse reactions during post-registration use of medicines recommended for the treatment of mental and behavioral disorders caused by alcohol consumption in the Russian Federation, and its reports were included in the database of the World Health Organizations international drug monitoring program as of January 1, 2023. The safety indicators of benzodiazepines, phenobarbital, butyrophenones, anticonvulsants, thiamine, and magnesium preparations were analyzed. The article may be of interest to pharmacovigilance specialists, doctors, researchers, developers and health regulators, pharmacologists, and clinical pharmacologists.

Malignant hyperthermia, is one of the most serious complications of modern anesthesia, which is a pharmacogenetic disease phenotypically manifested by skeletal muscle hypermetabolism and rhabdomyolysis during or after general anesthesia using inhalation anesthetics. An unexpected increase in CO2 concentration at the end of exhalation is the most common initial sign of malignant hyperthermia. Atypical forms of this pharmacogenetic disease are observed much more often than lightning or fulminant. In Russia, malignant hyperthermia currently remains a problem. We present a case of malignant hyperthermia in a 19-year-old girl who underwent surgery for nasal breathing disorders and received Sevoran anesthesia as support. The patient died 1 h 25 min after the surgery during withdrawal from anesthesia caused by a clinically confirmed syndrome of malignant hyperthermia. Forensic autopsy confirmed this diagnosis. The morphological changes in the skeletal muscles using both plain and elective histological stains were described. The presented observation is valuable owing to the rarity of lightning-fast forms of malignant hyperthermia and the high lethality accompanying these pathologies. This expert case demonstrate how a competent and comprehensive histological examination, including the use of genetic testing, allows correct formulation of a diagnosis and, if necessary, reasonably answer questions from law enforcement agencies.

The results of temperature measurements in the lower thermosphere at altitudes of 90–130 km by the method of resonant scattering of radio waves on artificial periodic inhomogeneities (APIs) of the ionospheric plasma are presented. These inhomogeneities are created when the ionosphere is exposed to powerful HF radio emission. The temperature profile was obtained from measurements of the relaxation time of the API scattered signal. The data processes and the method of the temperature determination are given in detail. The height and temporal resolutions of the API technique are of the order of 1 km and 15 s, respectively, making it possible to study both fast and slow processes in the lower thermosphere. Large temperature variability at altitudes of 90–130 km during the day and from day to day, due to the propagation of atmospheric waves, has been confirmed. The temporal variations of the atmospheric parameters take place with periods from 15 min to some hours. There are often height profiles of the temperature with the wave-like variations and with the vertical scale of about 4–10 km. The irregular temperature profiles were observed above 100 km.

Tumor emergence and progression is complicated by the dual role of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Low concentrations of ROS are essential for many intracellular metabolic processes and cell proliferation, while excessive ROS generation disrupts the mechanisms of cancer suppression, leading to the cell damage and death. A long-term imbalance in the ROS/antioxidant ratio and upregulation of the ROS generation due to the reduced efficacy of the antioxidant defense system cause chronic oxidative stress resulting in the damage of proteins, lipid, and DNA molecules and cancer development. Numerous data demonstrate that prostate cancer (the most common cancer in males) is associated with the development of oxidative stress. However, the reasons for the emergence of prostate cancer, as well as changes in the redox signaling and cellular redox homeostasis in this disease, are still poorly understood. The review examines the role of prooxidant and antioxidant enzyme systems, the imbalance in their activity leading to the oxidative stress development, changes in the key components of redox signaling, and the role of microRNAs in the modulation of redox status of cancer cells in prostate cancer.

In this review, recent achievements in the application of high-entropy alloys (HEAs) and high-entropy oxides (HEOs) in the technology of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) are discussed for the first time. The mechanisms of the stabilization of a high-entropy state in such materials, as well as the effect of structural and charge factors on the stability of the resulting homogeneous solid solution are performed. An introduction to the synthesis methods for HEAs and HEOs is given. The review highlights such advantages of high-entropy materials as high strength and the sluggish diffusion of components, which are promising for the use at the elevated temperatures, which are characteristic of SOFCs. Application of the medium- and high-entropy materials in the hydrocarbon-fueled SOFCs as protective layers for interconnectors and as anode components, caused by their high stability, are covered. High-entropy solid electrolytes are discussed in comparison with traditional electrolyte materials in terms of conductivity. High-entropy oxides are considered as prospective cathodes for SOFCs due to their superior electrochemical activity and long-term stability compared with the conventional perovskites. The present review also determines the prioritizing directions in the future development of high-entropy materials as electrolytes and electrodes for SOFCs operating in the intermediate and low temperature ranges.

Systemic amyloidosis is a group of diseases associated with extracellular deposition of fibrillar proteins, which leads to a loss of normal organ structure and function. Transthyretin amyloidosis occurs with the deposition of amyloid, consisting of transthyretin transport protein, and can be a genetic or degenerative disease of senility (acquired from the deposition of wild-type transthyretin). The article describes the clinical case of transthyretine amyloidosis in elderly patient, manifested by recurrent pleural effusions and biventricular heart failure demonstrating the complexity of timely diagnosis of wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis.

This review presents information on cases of antibiotic failure (insufficient effect) in the global population over the past three years. We analyzed scientific papers, clinical trial data, and the WHO Program for International Drug Monitoring (VigiBase) data from 2018 to 2020. The values of global success and safety rates of antibacterial drugs for medical use are presented. The findings may be of practical interest to physicians, researchers, developers, and healthcare regulators.

BACKGROUND: In 2021, the Uppsala Monitoring Center of the World Health Organization included 52 vaccines for coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) prevention in the international database, VigiBase, and almost immediately, this group of medicines (drugs) took the lead in the increased rate of reported adverse reactions (ARs). AIM: This study aimed to review the case reports of ARs from COVID-19 vaccines in the VigiBase database. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Statistical analysis of cases that describe ARs in the international pharmacovigilance VigiBase database was performed. RESULTS: On May 12, 2021, the VigiBase database included 26,099,906 reports that describe AR cases on drugs, including 585,744 reports of AR on vaccines for COVID-19 prevention. Serious ARs after immunization with these vaccines were registered in 31.5% of reports, including 0.9% fatal and 1.3% life-threatening. Headache (37.1% of reports), pyrexia (31.1%), chills (23.2%), and fatigue (22.7%) were most frequently recorded. CONCLUSIONS: More data are required to confirm the association between the COVID-19 vaccines and the increased risk of ARs following their use.

This article reviews the prerequisites, content and consequences of the impact of global processes on the sovereignty of modern states. The object of this research is the international legal relations and their peculiarities in the current context. The subject is the conditions and forms of restriction of sovereignty of national states, as well as contributing factors. Special attention is given to representations on the “fate” of sovereign rights and variants of their transformation reflected in the scientific literature, as well as change in the vector of development of globalization processes under the influence of strategy of the countries that act in accordance with their sovereign rights and national interests. The main method of “diluting” the state sovereignty are viewed based on the general scientific methods − induction and deduction, analysis, generalization, abstraction, modeling; sectoral methods of studying global processes: political scientific, statistical, formal-legal, specific-historical, and comparative. The research relies on the dialectical approach towards analyzing the concept of state sovereignty. The following conclusions were made: 1) modern world marks to multidirectional trends that testify to the transformation of state sovereignty, narrowing of its separate spheres in the conditions of globalization, or on the other hand, change in the vector of development of the global processes; 2) there is virtually no formal legal equality of the countries set by the leading norms of international law and underlying sovereignty; however, the national states continue demonstrating the resistance to global challenges; at the same time, the most “impregnable” for leveling sovereign rights is not the economy or politics, but cultural-historical values (the sphere of humanities); 3) in the conditions of globalization, the prospect of losing sovereignty depends on the degree of resistance to external challenges demonstrated by a particular state.

The article focuses on the problem of the lack of a clear typology of medieval groups located in the zone of cultural exclusion. This is caused by the following situation: the sources at hand produce negative information of repressive (normative sources), judgmental (narrative sources), and fear-based character (folklore sources). The representatives of these groups did not leave a memory of themselves, since most of them did not have a written culture. They would not tell, and would not be listened to. A model of social structure is constructed using the case of medieval Spain, making distinction between the core of public culture and periphery serving as a reservoir for the groups defined as marginal and boundary. The latter are displaced from the core onto the fringes of society, and their legal status wants to be clarified. The study is interdisciplinary. It makes use of the information and sources from different areas of social and humanitarian knowledge; anthropological and systemic approaches can be considered the conceptual framework of the research. The article deals with the relationship of geographical and cultural space, and a zone of their possible convergence. The research reveals that there hardly exists a rigid connection of marginal and borderline culture with a certain place. They are often not localized and do not exist compactly.The study is aimed at creating a holistic view of the legal status of social groups moved to periphery of the official legal culture. The article reveals the bases for their subsequent typology and detailed study. We list some groups and attribute them to marginal or boundary structures, showing the legal status of individual groups.

The article examines the problems of organizing the system of general military training and the development of physical culture and sports in 1918-1920 in Olonets province and the Western Siberia. The scale of the Russian state determined the different time frames for the creation of branches of the General Education on its territory, in connection with which the question of the identity of their functioning in different regions of the country is interesting. On the basis of legislative acts, archival and documentary sources, the authors reconstruct the activities of the provincial and district branches of the General Education on the organization of military training courses, on the creation of elementary sports facilities, on attracting young people to physical education and sports. The study focuses on the problems and difficulties of organizing this work in districts. Domestic historiography on the history of the organization of general military training in the Russian province is insignificant. Active research work on the development of physical culture and sports in 1918-1920 continues in modern Russia is going on, without losing its relevance to the present. The novelty of the research is determined by the introduction of previously unpublished sources into scientific circulation. For the first time, the authors attempted a comparative analysis to determine the tendency for the creation and operation of branches of the General Education on the example of two regions significantly remote from the center of the country – Western Siberia and Olonets province. The restoration of historical details on the organization of physical culture and sports in the years 1918-1920 on the ground: the creation of provincial and district branches of the Vsevobuch, financing, the opening of general military training courses and the development of physical culture and sports on the ground will help significantly complete the picture of the historical events of the Civil War in Western Siberia and in the Olonets province

The aim of the article. The aim of this study was to evaluation of the effectiveness of standard antidote therapy and dimephosphon administration in rats with acute ethylene glycol poisoning. The tasks of the study included modeling acute ethylene glycol poisoning in rats, conducting experimental therapy with ethanol antidote in combination with sodium bicarbonate and dimephosphon therapy, comparing the effectiveness of drugs in relation to indicators of acid-base state impairment and renal function. Materials and methods. Ethylene glycol (EG) was administered per os to Wistar male rats (190–210 g b.w.) at a single dose of 6 mL/kg b.w. through an atraumatic gastric tube. The animals were divided into 4 groups of 6 individuals each: intact (negative control), EG poisoning (positive control), EG + standard antidote therapy, EG + dimephosphon therapy. Experimental therapy was carried out for first 24 hours using standard antidote therapy: ethanol (30% solution 2 mL/kg b.w. i.p. after 1, 4, 6, 12, 18 hours) and sodium bicarbonate (4 % solution 6 mL/kg b.w. i.p. 3 times on the first day), as well as administration of dimephosphon (150 mg/kg i.p. 3 times on the first day, 450 mg/kg b.w. per day). Daily urine on day 3 after poisoning was collected in metabolic cages. Creatinine concentration in urine and blood serum samples were measured, and creatinine clearance was calculated. After 24 hours of therapy, the pH, level of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chlorides, bicarbonates, lactate, D-3-hydroxybutyrate, albumin, urea and creatinine (measured parameters) were determined in venous blood samples. Anion gap, ∆рН, ∆AG, ∆HCO 3 , ∆AG/∆HCO 3 and ∆Gap were calculated. The mechanism of death was determined for the dead animals. Data processing was performed using GraphPad Prism 6.0. Results. Acute poisoning of rats with ethylene glycol leads to the development of toxic encephalopathy and nephropathy, acid-base abnormalities, high anion gap metabolic acidosis due to the presence of metabolites, as well as lactate-ketoacidosis due to depression of the central nervous system. 100% of the EG-treated (12 mL/kg b.w.) animals died within 3 days. Metabolic acidosis in combination with hypermagnesemia had provided a cardiodepressive effect, which with direct nephrotoxic and neurotoxic effects contributed to the development of a mixed variant of thanatogenesis and death. Death comes from toxic encephalopathy and nephropathy, high anion gap metabolic acidosis caused by direct nephrotoxic and neurotoxic effects of EG and its metabolites. The standard antidote therapy with ethanol in combination with sodium bicarbonate prevented a pH shift, lactic acidosis and ketoacidosis, an increase in urea, but did not affect the level of bicarbonate ( p = 0,048), creatinine and its clearance ( p = 0,037) and the anion gap ( p = 0,033). The dimephosphon therapy prevented a decrease in creatinine clearance and blood bicarbonate level, limited the increase in lactate dehydrogenase activity, had a more pronounced effect on the AG and ∆AG ( p = 0,042), but did not affect the hypocalcemia ( p = 0,0076) and hypoalbuminemia ( p = 0,021). Conclusion. Acute ethylene glycol poisoning leads to the development of a mixed variant of thanatogenesis with damage to the central nervous and urinary systems, as well as the heart. Autopsy and histopathology confirmed the cause of animal death. In the model at a dose of 6 mL/kg of EG the dimephosphon therapy was more conducive to the correction of the main markers of high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA) than standard antidote therapy (both measured and calculated, p < 0,05). The dimephosphon therapy prevented a decrease in creatinine clearance. A comparative analysis of two methods for the correction of high anion gap metabolic acidosis in rats in acute poisoning with ethylene glycol showed that dimephosphon therapy vs. standard antidote therapy had a stronger effect on markers of metabolic acidosis and renal impairment.

Polyphenols are considered popular ingredients in the pharmaceutical and medical fields due to their preventive and therapeutic properties. However, the potential effects and mechanisms of action of individual polyphenols remain largely unknown. Herein, we analyzed recent data on the synthetic pathways, features, and similarity of the properties of quercetin, as the most famous flavonoid, and curcumin, a representative of curcuminoids that despite their anti-oxidant activity, also have a pro-oxidant effect, depending on the concentration and the cellular environment. This review focuses on an analysis of their anti-cancer efficacy against various cancer cell lines via cell cycle arrest (regulation of p53/p21 and CDK/cyclins) and by triggering the mitochondrial intrinsic (Bcl-2/Bax/caspase 9) apoptotic pathway, as well as through the modulation of the signaling pathways (PI3K/Akt, Wnt/β-catenin, JAK/STAT, MAPK, p53, and NF-ĸB) and their influence on the non-coding RNAs involved in angiogenesis, invasion, migration, and metastasis. The therapeutic potential of quercetin and curcumin is discussed not only on the basis of their anti-cancer effects, but also with regard to their anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial actions.

The 30 cm drop is the remaining NRC normal conditions of transport (NCT) regulatory requirement (10 CFR 71.71) for which there are no data on the response of spent fuel. While obtaining data on the spent fuel is not a direct requirement, it allows for quantifying the risk of fuel breakage resulting from a cask drop from a height of 30 cm or less. Because a full-scale cask and impact limiters are very expensive, 3 consecutive drop tests were conducted to obtain strains on a full-scale surrogate 17 × 17 PWR assembly. The first step was a 30 cm drop of a 1/3 scale cask loaded with dummy assemblies. The second step was a 30 cm drop test of a full-scale dummy assembly. The third step was a 30 cm drop of a full-scale surrogate assembly. The results of this final test are presented in this paper. The test was conducted in May 2020. The acceleration pulses on the surrogate assembly were in good agreement with the expected pulses derived from steps 1 and 2. This confirmed that during the 30 cm drop the surrogate assembly experienced the same conditions as it would have if it had been dropped in a full-scale cask with impact limiters. The surrogate assembly was instrumented with 27 strain gauges. Pressure paper was inserted between the rods within the two long and two short spacer grid spans in order to register the pressure in case of rod-to-rod contact. The maximum observed peak strain on the surrogate assembly was 1,724 microstrain at the bottom end of the assembly. The pressure paper sheets from the two short spans were blank. The pressure paper sheets from the two long spans, except a few middle ones, showed marks indicating rod-to-rod contact. The maximum estimated contact pressure was 4,100 psi. The longitudinal bending stress corresponding to the maximum observed strain value (calculated from the stress-strain curve for low burnup cladding) was 22,230 psi. Both values are significantly below the yield strength of the cladding. The major conclusion is that the fuel rods will maintain their integrity following a 30 cm drop inside of a transportation cask.

The problem of excitation of internal gravity waves (IGWs) in the upper atmosphere by an external source of a limited duration of operation is investigated. An isothermal atmosphere was chosen as the propagation environment of IGWs in the presence of a uniform wind that changes over time according to the harmonic law. For the vertical component of the displacement of an environment, the Mathieu equation with zero initial conditions was solved with the right part simulating the effect of a powerful heating facility on the ionosphere. In the case of a small amplitude of the variable component of the wind, the time dependence of the vertical displacement under parametric resonance conditions using the perturbation method is obtained. The obtained dependence of the solution of the differential equation on the parameters allows us to perform a numerical analysis of the problem in the case of variable wind of arbitrary amplitude. For practical estimations of the obtained values, data on the operating modes of the SURA heating facility (56.15&deg, N, 46.11&deg, E) with periodic (15&ndash, 30 min) switching on during of 2&ndash, 3 h for ionosphere impact were used.

Current practice for commercial spent nuclear fuel management in the United States of America (US) includes storage of spent fuel in both pools and dry storage cask systems at nuclear power plants. Most storage pools are filled to their operational capacity, and management of the approximately 2,200 metric tons of spent fuel newly discharged each year requires transferring older and cooler fuel from pools into dry storage. In the absence of a repository that can accept spent fuel for permanent disposal, projections indicate that the US will have approximately 134,000 metric tons of spent fuel in dry storage by mid-century when the last plants in the current reactor fleet are decommissioned. Current designs for storage systems rely on large dual-purpose (storage and transportation) canisters that are not optimized for disposal. Various options exist in the US for improving integration of management practices across the entire back end of the nuclear fuel cycle.

One of the major challenges of simulating flow and transport in the far field of a geologic repository in crystalline host rock is related to reproducing the properties of the fracture network over the large volume of rock with sparse fracture characterization data. Various approaches have been developed to simulate flow and transport through the fractured rock. The approaches can be broadly divided into Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) and Equivalent Continuum Model (ECM). The DFN explicitly represents individual fractures, while the ECM uses fracture properties to determine equivalent continuum parameters. We compare DFN and ECM in terms of upscaled observed transport properties through generic fracture networks. The major effort was directed on making the DFN and ECM approaches similar in their conceptual representations. This allows for separating differences related to the interpretation of the test conditions and parameters from the differences between the DFN and ECM approaches. The two models are compared using a benchmark test problem that is constructed to represent the far field (1 × 1 × 1 km 3 ) of a hypothetical repository in fractured crystalline rock. The test problem setting uses generic fracture properties that can be expected in crystalline rocks. The models are compared in terms of the: 1) effective permeability of the domain, and 2) nonreactive solute breakthrough curves through the domain. The principal differences between the models are mesh size, network connectivity, matrix diffusion and anisotropy. We demonstrate how these differences affect the flow and transport. We identify the factors that should be taken in consideration when selecting an approach most suitable for the site-specific conditions.

Results of a comprehensive geochemical study (major and trace elements, and isotopes of Sr, Nd, Pb, Hf) of Cretaceous volcanic rocks from the Chukotka area in northeastern Russia are presented. Synthesis of available geological and geochronological data suggests diachronous onset of activity of the Okhotsk–Chukotka volcanic belt (OCVB), the largest magmatic province in the region. The OCVB consists of ca. 106 km3 of volcanic rocks. At 106–105 Ma, subduction-related magmatism initiated in the southern and central segments of the OCVB. In the Central and Northern Chukotka areas, where the northern OCVB is exposed, onset of arc magmatism occurred ca. 10 m.y. after extension-related magmatism of the Chaun igneous province at 109–104 Ma. Mafic rocks from the OCVB yield (87Sr/86Sr)80 Ma of 0.7033 to 0.7047, eNd80 Ma of 0.0 to 7.10, eHf80 Ma of 4.12 to 12.88, (206Pb/204Pb)80 Ma of 18.11 to 18.42, and (208Pb/204Pb)80 Ma of 37.96 to 38.21. Volcanic rocks from the Chaun province, as well as OCVB rocks from Northern Chukotka, originate from a relatively enriched source and have (87Sr/86Sr)80 Ma of 0.7088 to 0.7100, eNd80 Ma of − 5.81 to − 3.42, eHf80 Ma of − 3.40 to − 0.25, (206Pb/204Pb)80 Ma of 18.69 to 18.90, and (208Pb/204Pb)80 Ma of 38.65 to 38.86. No definitive across-arc elemental or isotopic zonation of the OCVB has been revealed, probably because of wide-scale crustal melting and subsequent contamination of mantle-derived melts. However, there is a clear along-arc isotopic zonation. In our interpretation, this results from heterogeneity of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle, which likely was a major contributor to the magma source. The similar isotopic signatures of silicic (dominantly crust-derived) and mafic (mantle-derived) volcanic rocks in each OCVB segment imply that remelting of juvenile mafic underplated material was the main process responsible for the crust-derived magma generation. These data from the major Cretaceous magmatic provinces of northeast Asia are synthesized in context of existing plate tectonic reconstructions.

Despite a significant amount of works specifying immune mechanisms of bronchial asthma (BA), different phenotypes observed in this pathology need to be studied. The aim of present study was to analyze functional activity of Th1-, Th2- и Th17-lymphocytes, and to determine features of inflammation in controlled and partly controlled asthma. Materials and methods: We examined eighty-four BA patients that were divided into 2 groups, depending on the control of symptoms and the clinical course of BA. Group I included 45 patients with controlled BA, whereas group II included 39 patients with partially controlled asthma. The subsets of Th1-, Th2-, and Th17-lymphocytes were assessed by serum cytokine levels (TNF-a, IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17A) using flow cytometry technique. The results of this study were as follows: we have shown a combined T-helper (Th) immune response in asthma patients, with its origin depending on the degree of the disease control. Th2 (62 %), Th1/Th2 (20%) and Th1 (18%) types of immune response have been detected in the patients with controlled BA. Th2/Th17 (49 %), Th1/Th17 (13 %) and Th17 (37 %) types of immune response have been identified in the patients with partially controlled BA. It has been shown, that Th1 immune response in patients with controlled asthma is induced by intracellular infection. The formation of the Th1/Th2 phenotype is associated with a site of chronic bacterial infection revealed, and with persistence of viral infection in the body. This phenotype can be used as an indicator of asthma worsening. Further studies in the role of prevalent immune response type in the development of partially controlled BA have shown that activation of Th17-lymphocytes is associated with prolonged course of the disease. Irrespectively of initial phenotype, the development of Th17-dependent immune response seems to result from a durable systemic persistent inflammation. Conclusions: The views on the key role of Th1/Th2 balance in the development of asthma are accomplished by evidence of Th17-lymphocyte involvement into the process, and Th1/Th17, Th2/Th17 phenotypes seem to be the polar features of the disease. Estimation of intensity and phenotype of inflammation in BA will permit a more objective evaluation of the therapy applied, and to choose further management strategies.

Modeling of heat extraction in Enhanced Geothermal Systems is presented. The study builds on recent studies on the use of directional wells to improve heat transfer between doublet injection and production wells. The current study focuses on the influence of fracture orientation on production temperature in deep low permeability geothermal systems, and the effects of directional drilling and separation distance between boreholes on heat extraction. The modeling results indicate that fracture orientation with respect to the well-pair plane has significant influence on reservoir thermal drawdown. The vertical well doublet is impacted significantly more than the horizontal well doublet.

At the beginning of 2016, the World Health Organization announced the spread of Zika virus to be a global threat. Serious concerns about the little-known up to the present time Zika fever are caused by the growth of neurological complications of this disease. There is no strong evidence yet, but more and more often this infection is associated with congenital skull and brain malformations, development of Guillain-Barre syndrome. The article presents the basic information on the epidemiology, clinical manifestations and diagnosis of viral Zika fever, and modern possibilities of its prevention.

The paper presents the results of a study on the use of soda production sludge (SPS) as a lime soil conditioner. SPS with a less than 0.1 mm fraction is the most suitable in terms of physical, chemical, and toxicological properties and meets the requirements of GOST-14050-93 «Limestone (dolomite) dust. Specifications» on the content of the active substance, the mass fraction of calcium and magnesium carbonates. Reclamative properties of SPS were studied on soil samples taken in the territory removed from the sanitary protection zone of the oil refinery. It was found that all soil samples have a phytotoxic effect on pea seedlings. The introduction of SPS in amount of 1-3 g per kg of soil stimulates the development of the ground part and roots of oats and peas, and also increases the germination energy of oat and pea seeds in the initial soil samples by 2÷10 times. The introduction of SPS into the samples of the studied soils at a dose of 1-3 g/kg stimulates the development of colonies of Azotobacter bacteria and leads to an increase in the total number of soil microorganisms. The introduction of SPS in an amount of 3 g per kilo of soil leads to a slight increase in the environment reaction and an increase in the content of water-soluble salts in the soil up to 2 times. In view of this, it is necessary to control that the content of water-soluble salts does not exceed the established standards. Based on the results obtained, we consider it expedient to use soda production sludge as a lime soil conditioner and for the reclamation of industry-disturbed soils.
