Transient photovoltage and photocurrent measurements are employed to determine the recombination and transport kinetics in operating dye-sensitized photovoltaic cells as a function of potential and temperature. The results are consistent with the presence of a distribution of traps below the TiO2 conduction band, the detrapping from which limits both the transport and the recombination of electrons.

Experiments on Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) are carried out in acetonitrile electrolyte with platinum electrodes coated with poly, DB-PPV. The study concluded that coatings of DB-PPV on platinum electrodes in acetonitrile electrolyte behave as permeable electroactive films with both mobile electronic and ionic charge carriers.

A method for surface reconstruction of electron injection layers based on conjugated oligoelectrolytes atop an electroluminescent layer in the presence of air is described. The proposed mechanism involves hydration and concomitant increase of the interfacial energy with the underlying hydrophobic surface followed by dewetting via a nucleation process.

Several studies are conducted to explain the synthesis, properties and the various steady-state transport characteristics of the photoconductors that are based on the dye-sensitized solar cells. The presence of the imbalanced energy band is shown to be the main factor determining the transport behavior of the systems.

The preparation of a [pi]-conjugated polymer film via use of electrolytic polymerization along with cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) which have a tunable interference function under electrochemical doping and dedoping is described. The polymer exhibited a CLC-like periodic structure with a potential-dependent refractive index and optical absorption properties and the possibility of electrochemical photonics.

Spectroscopic ellipsometry is used for studying the optical properties of polyelectrolyte-PbS quantum dot (QD) multilayer films prepared by using the layer by layer self-assembly method. The tunability of the optical absorption of these materials is shown by changing the PbS concentration in the colloidal dispersion and the number of nanolayers on the solid substrate.

The sum-frequency generation response of CO adsorbed is investigated on a platinum electrode surface in an electrolyte solution to irradiation of intense visible pulses as in the time resolution of approximately 20 ps. Upon visible pulse irradiation, the population of onto CO instantly decreases accompanied by an increase in multibonded CO due to the transient temperature jump at the surface.
