Two field experiments carried out at Sakha Agricultural Research Station Farm, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt, and Agricultural Research Centre during the two growing seasons 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons to evaluate the intercropping of onion, garlic and fenugreek with faba bean crop on broomrape incidence to increase faba bean yield, land usage and economic return in heavy soil infestation of broomrape. Treatments included: faba bean alone (control); faba bean + onion cv. Giza 20; faba bean + garlic cv. Sids 40 and faba bean + fenugreek cv. Giza 2. The experiment was laid out in a RCBD with split arrangements in three replications. Infection treatments were kept in main plots and three crops intercropping with faba bean in subplots. The obtained results showed that number spikes/m² and dry weight of spikes (g/m²) of broom- rap (Orobanche sp) were significantly affected by infection with broomrap (Orobanche sp) and the solid faba bean gave the highest values of plant height, yield and yield components, as seed yield ton/ha, 100 seed weight (g), protein %, number of seeds/plant, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, pod length (cm) and plant height (cm) were significantly affected by intercropping with onion, garlic and fenugreek decreased infestation by broomrap (Orobanche sp) and increased faba bean yield. Field experiments were conducted at Sakha Agricultural Research Station Farm, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt during two successive growing seasons 2017 and 2018, to evaluate the performance of three Egyptian rice varieties under different planting methods as well as to determine the water requirements for each planting method. A split plot design with three replications was used, main plots devoted to the three planting methods as following: transplanting, terraces, and broadcasting, while rice varieties, (Sakha 101, Giza 178 and Sakha 105) were used and arranged randomly in sub plots. From the obtained data in both seasons, transplanting method gave the highest grain yield and significant values for most of the studied characters in comparison with the other two methods. Grain yield of transplanting method gave 8.201, 8.07 t\hainthetwo seasons 2017 and 2018, respectively. Moreover, Sakha 101 variety gave the highest grain yield and surpassed the other two rice varieties. Water saving was high for Giza 178 and Sakha 105 when used terraces method in the two Seasons (42.6 and 40.05 % for 2017 and 2018, respectively. Thus, direct seeding methods using either broadcasting or terraces had comparative advantage over transplanted rice in terms of water requirements. One of the most important advantages of intercropping or sowing methods is to get the highest yield on a specified area of land through using more efficient way of the available resources. Two successive winter field experiments were conducted at Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Agricultural Research Center (A.R.C), Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt, during 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 growing seasons in a split plot design with three replications to study the effects of three different sowing methods viz. flat, terraces and rows; main plots in addition to three different mixed intercropping treatments of Egyptian clover var. Fahl with wheat (10, 15 and 20% of recommended seeding rate for Egyptian clover var. Fahl (i.e. 20 kg fed-1) with 100% of recommended seeding rate of wheat [60 kg fed-1]; sub plots). In addition, the two crops were sown as pure stand cultivation in a flat sowing method. Results showed that sowing method of terraces and intercropping Egyptian clover var. Fahl by 10% with 100% wheat resulted in the highest improvement of growth and yield and its components in addition to the highest crude protein content in comparison to the other sowing methods and intercropping patterns. However, the pure stand of wheat had the highest values of grain yield fed-1 and its components in comparison to intercropping treatments. The highest LER (land equivalent ratio; 1.30 and 1.29) and the highest total income (12034 and 11899 L.E.) were obtained when wheat was sown on terrace and intercropped with 10% of Egyptian clover var. Fahl in both of seasons, respectively. In conclusion, sowing method of wheat on terraces and intercropping 10% of Egyptian clover var. Fahl with wheat could be the appropriate suggestion for farmers in North Middle Nile Delta region, Egypt. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
